No, it's not included... I was wondering about how and where JBoss could found that class. Nothing is mentioned about that in the Getting Started Guide nor in the JBossWS User Guide (Wiki), so I eventually tought the class would be automatically generated by JBoss at deployment time. However, after reading your message, it seems I'm missing something or I'm doing it the wrong way. I think now the point is: how are the getAccountOfCustomer_RequestStruct and getAccountOfCustomer_ResponseStruct generated? Is it necessary to write them by hand or there exists some tool to do that? (Wstools, maybe?) Could you address me about some material describing the steps needed to write a document-style web service with JBoss? Hi there, i'm very new to j2ee and jboss, so i tried the quick jboss-ide tutorial. i struggled through the first 4 chapters, but then in the beginnig of chapter 5, it says, that i should go to the xdoclet configuration in the project properties. the problem is, that there are no xdoclet configurations in the properties panel. What I want is a one to one relationship with shared primary key. Owner and
Employment are seperate entities and they are mapped to 2 different tables.
Each table would have a id field as primary key. Here is how my testing code

There is a lot of discussion on the hibernate ejb forum about this. I did try something similar a few months ago and couldn't get it to work. But, looking at the hibernate annotations test suite there are tests which show it working - take a look, copy the example that seems most like what you want (probably Party/PartyAffliate) and modify as required. Ronald, I got the solution. It was a problemm related with the Web Container configuration used by JBoss. It uses also commons-logging library and it looks as it has a defined configuration for the version included. as said it is no jBPM error, try using the JBoss AS forum, but I think the answer will be the same. You added a commons-logging jar. Try removing it. I declared within one of my stateless bean a Map that corresponds to the value
of the 'selectBooleanCheckbox' named 'accountSelection' as follows:

When the 'commandButton' is executed, nothing happens, the action is not called
and nothing is written in server logs,
at the moment I take off the 'selectBooleanCheckbox', or change its value to
anything which is not multiple (does not include a '[]'), pressing on the
button calls the action fine.
What could be the reason for that? it seems that almost the same code is used
in the dvdshop sample (while browsing the items) except that I do not use a
conversation here...
At least I'd like to know why the action is not called at all, I see the page
getting refreshed but nothing happens :-/

JSF actions use a POST, and the conversation is automatically propagated with that data. The only time time you need the conversationId in the URL is when you do a GET. I have almost completed migrating my portlets from 2.4 Beta1 to 2.4 CR1. The three portlets with issues all originated from the forum source code base. I took the latest forum from the head of jboss-portal-2.4, since the CR1 code does not include the forums. It appears as though this has not been used much, since there were some typos in the build file (e.g. confugure hibernate doclet, missing quote on configure-explode). When I use my previous build file or the one from cvs, I am told JBossActionRequest and JBossActionResponse are not defined, even though they are present in the org.jboss.portlet in the core module and output classes. 1. How do I get the forum to build using the 2.4CR1 code base? I have tried multiple approaches without success, and I am missing something. What has changed? 2. Are there plans to upgrade the forum module to coincide with the 2.4? Any guidance/suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. I've looked into them, but non of them actually generates Id automatically. I have to persist one entity first and then retrive the Id from first saved entity and pass it to second entity manually. I guess this is a limitation in Hibernate that you can't use generated Ids when shared primary key is used. Thanks anyway. Another option is using the service binding MBean. You can activate this within jboss-service.xml (look for binding) in which you define a server name that must be in correspondence with a service binding declared in a binding XML configuration file (take a look at docs/examples/service-binding) that specifies all overloading ports for the named server that you activate with the service binding MBean. Interesting point you mention. I guess this is normal since EJBs rely on the dynamic proxy to decide to which node the request from the client application should be redirected. It actually contains a list of all nodes and this list is being iterated when you use round robin. Activate load-balancing between different clients should be nice but I don't think you can actually do something about this behaviour. In other words, I don't think it's possible to control this... unless you start using hardware loadbalancers instead of software loadbalancers, but I'm not 100% sure about it :-S Not a real response to your question, but perhaps it might be usefull for you... We've encountered a problem with an Entiy Bean. If we make an instance of the
folowing bean persistent while the collection are empty they are added to the
database correctly. The retrieval of the data works also.
But: As soon as more than one collection contains more than one element we
following problem occurs: The bean-data is fetched by a LEFT OUTER JOIN query
(Found out with Ethereal). This causes the collections to contain as much
elements as rows are returned by the DBMS.
Example
Collection1: 3 entries
Collection2: 4 entries
JOIN causes the collections to contain 12 entries (cartesian product)
- This is an undesired effect.

Workaround
Removal of @OneToMany causes JBoss to store the collections in serialized form.
The problem disappears.

Is there a clever way to store the collections in separate tables without
separating them into individual entity beans?

Is there a way to configure MDB to use a JMS connection factory to pick up the messages from the queue that is OTHER than the reference queue connection factory for that provider? I guess that question could also be represented in the following way. Do I need to define new instance of provider if all I want to do is use a different connect factory. For example, jboss.xml contains a tag called jndi-destination-name which determines from which destination the MDB will read the messages. I would like to be able to configure connect factory to be used in the similar fashion. Is that possible? If so, how? Any answers pointers are very much appreciated. I am doing something that doesn't seem to fit too well with the framework. I have a set of user edit pages. I wanted to let the user go to a few popup windows to edit certain areas of the user's data. Then when the user decides the changes are good, commit them all at the same time. That basic premise is working, what I am running into is a problem with trying to have multiple save points. I was trying to make it so in each popup, the user would be able to click apply or cancel. The apply would apply all the changes on the popup to the object, and the cancel to rollback the changes for that popup only. Each popup controls not only single properties (username, first name, etc.), but may also contain lists (phone numbers, etc.). So when canceling the dialog, it may be adds and deletes of children that I want to undo. I tried using a clone via object i/o stream to implement this, but the clones were not happy with hibernate/ejb3: org.hibernate.LazyInitializationException: failed to lazily initialize a collection of role: mypackage.User.emails, no session or session was closed Is there a clean way of doing this? I wanted to have these multiple save points as the user may be new and cannot be saved until all the information is complete. Is there some way to nest transactions, create save points in a transaction, or somehow clone objects with the EntityManager that I missed (I can't use refresh as that would rollback all my changes, not just one popup's worth)? If I can't get this to work, I will just remove the popup cancel/rollback functionality, but it would be great for my users if I can manage it. BTW, all my functionality for editing the user is in one EJB (it handles all the back-end functionality for each popup, so I don't think I can nest conversations as there only seems to be one per bean allowed). I tried using merge to re-associate the object with the manager. The problem is
that I have no active transaction, because I don't want the data committed yet
(I using SeamExtendedManagedPersistencePhaseListener)

So I seem to be stuck as I can't start a transaction, as EntityManager has no
way of saying not to flush on this JSF action and I need the transaction to
re-associate my clone with the entity manager in order to lazy load my children
objects that may not have been loaded yet.
