I am struggling with the same problem.

It seems that this problem is very close to an old one:
https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-20873

Additionally the "Pipeline starts with parameters" button is not available.

That time the update to version 1.4.3 (with this parameter) helped.

The verify button in the the system configuration works fine until i create a new mantis project.

Then the connection fails with the error:
