I've already successfully built the plugin using 2014.1, it just isn't in maven yet. My colleague contacted perforce directly about this and already has a stacktrace indicating issues with the older software library version: http://forums.perforce.com/index.php?/topic/3723-p4java-client-too-old-error-groovy The main issue is that without the newer version we cannot connect to newer perforce servers which is a pretty big blocker for us right now.
