Happy to see this! It's way more thorough than my experimental patch I never had the time to fix tests for :) All I did was stop stripping the codes, and bookend them with injected ` {code:java} ` {code} "tags" in the annotation stream.

Righto, good progress, I've built a minimal pipeline that generates the issue reliably, and figured out the trigger: https://gist.github.com/sophistifunk/39cec79eb7d353b67bd70b75a61f95bc It seems that any time you have all of these conditions:
A parallel stage
The last parallel branch (in file order) is nested in a sequential wrapper, ie:
stage('foo') { stages { /*...*/ } }
The sequential wrapper only has one child stage
Then the generated graph data is broken for nodes coming after the offending top-level stage. The problem is (almost certainly) in Blue Ocean server, or (far less likely) the Pipeline plugin. I'll find out which one and get a fix in, should be a small change once I identify the right spot.

We're also breaking the Liskov substitution principle at a few points in the implementation due to the fact that Stapler `@Exported` annotations aren't constrained in the same way the underlying Java methods are. The result of this is that subclasses become no longer substitutable as the objects cross the boundary from Java to JSON At the same time, we need to have TypeScript definitions for the types we're expecting from the server. Addressing these needs begins with extracting some smaller, more focused Java interfaces for the common concerns as they're reflected in the API, and introduce some TS definitions that are based on them. For this ticket I'm creating these new java interfaces while making minimal changes to the actual existing code, and to create the TS definitions by hand, as a first step so as to get the TS definitions into master where they can be used by the team when working on front-end code and get feedback about their applicability and the best way forward. For the future to continue improving in this area I propose (as separate tickets) some more areas of focus (in no particular order): Mechanical translation of the Java interfaces into TypeScript via the use of javac APIs or other parser, so that they stay in sync, with javadoc comments being copied across also, while still keeping the TypeScript defs in source control

Once we have per-property skipability, it will get better in that we won't have partially-formed runs bringing the UI down, but instead we would just get a 500 (or some runs would be missing from the response completely, if it's a list). But I don't really know enough to diagnose why those runs' executions can't be iterated properly when attempting to create the nodes - the root exception is coming from non-BlueOcean code, so I'm not particularly familiar with it. Somebody on the pipeline team might have something more useful to add, though. We'd get a lot of benefits, not just the ability to easily reference the css theme and mixins, but Idea would be able to make sense of the module for completion / error highlighting, instead of the jumbled mess you get from Babel which for some reason Idea won't parse.
