If option DELETE is checked, it compares generated items of current build (if there is unreferenced job/view/config - jobs/views ... which were created by this seed job, but are not included in generated objects by job dsl step). But this comparison contains only generated items from one action not from the all actions from all job dsl steps because getAction(Class returns only the first hit. Including them into one action (so do not create action for every job dsl step, but include generated objects into existing action) should fix the problem, but only in case that you use DELETE option only in your last build job dsl step (because generation of all jobs/views/config is not finished if there any job dsl step reminds to execute). my pull request is there https://github.com/jenkinsci/job-dsl-plugin/pull/1190, you can check it or comment. Your problem is caused by multiple job-dsl build step - everyone adds its own action - so there is many actions of added items instead of one action with all. I changed it the way that if action for given build exists, it is not added the new one - new generated objects are included by the old one. It should fix the problem with removing all jobs (views...) created by previous steps when Action for removed job/views/config is checked. Do I understand correctly that it should not do only execution but even wait for its execution (in this case for sleep 60)? Because I thought that it should be executed in background because pipeline will wait for the result file and log can be read from jenkins-log.txt. Or am I wrong? The goal is to interrupt it without calling listener about stopping/failing execution (which usually can happen by restart or falling jenkins instance) after start of jenkins, there is pipeline job endlessly waiting for finishing the execution of triggered job and calling from listener about completion of the job execution. If I understand correctly the issue happens due this code: when execution of the step is called the resume value of execution thread is set on null https://github.com/jenkinsci/workflow-cps-plugin/blob/workflow-cps-2.49/src/main/java/org/jenkinsci/plugins/workflow/cps/CpsThread.java#L173 the thread is not runnable until resume value is non null. https://github.com/jenkinsci/workflow-cps-plugin/blob/workflow-cps-2.49/src/main/java/org/jenkinsci/plugins/workflow/cps/CpsThread.java#L138 until isRunnable returns true, thread group do not continue execution of this thread (and pipeline script) and expects that thread is waiting for completion of something (which in aforementioned case will never happen).

I will watch our instance if I hit the same issue as in my reproducer (it looks like so from UI perspective). Now I would concentrate on durable shell step. So ti seems that it hangs in functionality before or after. During checking my laptop I realized that maybe the bug is not on the pipeline side. I checked my processes and it seems that shell step is made durable by running it the way it keeps result file. It seems like pipeline detects that it needs to continue and tries to start execution where was interrupted but nothings is executed, it only looks like it is executed from UI - computer is occupied by job, build is in running state, but it seems that it is in endless waiting cycle. The interesting is that this state is probably saved persistently because I do not catch it every time, but when it is caught, I can restart jenkins as many times as I want and it will never recover successfully (always stuck). I believe that problem is somewhere in program.dat, but it is not easily readable as xml for human so I am not sure where the difference is. I did the same with the previous 2 runs and they were able to recover, but the third one did not. A add the screen of the successful recovers (or unsuccessful - one ended by failure but it did not stuck, which is success in this case) and the screen of build with issue. Since it seems to be persistent (as I described) I archived jenkins home and add it as well and the jenkins war as well. Archived jenkins home contains the versions of pipeline as well. It is not a very big change, but it is fast solution and should break nothing - firstly it uses previous build, if it does not exists, it tries to find Test classes in file source by pattern expected in java project, if this fails it returns empty result - so it will be executed in one (the same behavior as before). It works only if it is performed in directory which contains any files - so you have to prepare file data for it (checkout given java project). The current behaviour is that jenkins is serving log by small parts (several lines) in case that build is not done yet (build is still running it is not completed) - and your browser is continuously asking for new data. On opposite case if your build is done (completed) jenkins offers user the tail of log of build and in case that he requires all log, jenkins writes it whole dirrectly to the browser (no _javascript_, no cashing in jenkins master memory). The problem is when build is not finished and is still running during displaying it to user. jenkins gives log by small parts by _javascript_/ajax - browser continuously asked for new data until builds is finished (in this case it obtains information that there will be no new information and browser stop asking for it). These new data are read in small parts into jenkins memory and sent to the browser as response. The memory leak happens in time when the build is finished during displaying log by parts to the user. So the build is finished and user does not have displayed whole log yet. In this case current behavior decides to sent user the rest of log (which still can be several GB) and inform browser that this is all (do not ask for new information), but it is done by the same algorithm - read into jenkins memory and sent to the browser as response. In old versions of disku usage were size of workspace calculated after build and each build has its own workspace size - despite the workspace was cleared or all builds used the same workspace. Since the issue is from these times, I am closing the jiru as resolved. Feel free to reopen if you see such bug again. Now the workspace is related to job, not to builds. If the common usage of disk-usage causes that error, I think that more people would have the same problem. I can not recognize the root cause from dump and your log only proves that disk-usage took the last byte, but not who took the most. Please, do you still have this problem? Problem is that calling disk-usage by listener is the most logical way how to count size of build - when build is finished and no steps are done (so the size of log and artifacts are +- final). Downstream jobs are triggered like post build step, so it is done before method onFinished() is called through listener. I do not think that calculation disk-usage like build step instead of calling through listener is a good solution - at first you have to set it. For example we need it in our instance and we have 10 000 jobs where we have to set it and our users will often forget it in new jobs. I need it to be done automatically for maintenance disk space. So I see 3 solutions - create calculation after build optional (if it is set in global configuration not to do it no job will calculate disk usage), add list of excluded job into configuration, add calculation like post-build step (which automatically cancels calculation called by listener). I think that the third solution could be the best for you, do you agree? So if you change build size after its build (delete something), disk-usage does not reflect this change until recalculation thread is executed. It is logical, in opposite approach disk-usage has to scan all builds for changes and recalculates them all the time - this would be a really performance issue, because calculation of disk usage is very expensive in large instances. Even current behaviour can cause performance issues in large instances. If you use share workspace and it is big (there is a lot of other stuff then only particular job workspace), it could try to calculate size for all files and subfiles - it can take a lot of time. Disk usage is called by listener after all build steps are finished and result is set (failed disk usage does not mean that build should change its result). But it is strange that build history shows that build is finished, because it should not be in state completed. I will try to reproduce this issue, but with disk-usage 0.26 and Jenkins 1.580 which are current used versions. You can check if disk-usage perform calculation in build log, there should be info message that calculation is in progress. The problem with directories size, I let counting of size for directories because in some platform directory has its own size and Jenkins tends to have a lot of directories (for example matrix project plugin), so skipping directories can cause feeling that informations are wrong. I do not think that size of directory is more expensive then size of file, correct me if I am wrong, so I do not see the reason for skipping size of directories. The third problem seems strange to me. Do I understand correctly, for example, if there is execution disk-usage every 2 hours, machine was hibernating for 6 hours, disk usage executes the same 3 calculations (missed calculation) in the same time? This seems like bug to me! I will investigate, but in AsyncPeriodicWork work should be planed in time when previous calculation was executing (so there should not be more then one task planned).
