 Looks like this is caused by the kubernetes plugin. The version of my kubernetes plugin is 1.12.2. Also downgraded it to 1.10.1 but of no use.

 Yes the changes can be saved. But this jenkins is running on a kubernetes cluster and the automatic authentication is failing.    I am running jenkins 2.107.3 on a kubernetes cluster. In the "Manage jenkins" -> "Configure system" , in the cloud section the "Max connections to Kubernetes API" is set to the default 32.
