Google Summer of Code 2023: Mentors and Project Ideas Wanted

2022-11-18 Thread Alyssa Tong
Hi All,

This week Google announced its Google Summer of Code program for 2023. Some
slight changes include giving more flexibility by making the program 10-22
weeks vs 12+ weeks. In addition, both students and new contributors are
eligible to apply for the program.

As we, org admins, forge ahead with the planning, we are once again doing a
call out for mentors and project ideas. This program isn't possible
without the participation of mentors and projects for new contributors to
work on. We've put together this post
<https://www.jenkins.io/blog/2022/11/16/gsoc-2023/>that details the
mentoring and project idea proposal process.

We hope you'll join us in this rewarding program.

Your friendly neighborhood org admins,
Jean-Marc Meessen
Kris Stern

Looking for Jenkins stories to turn into case studies

2020-01-08 Thread Alyssa Tong
Hi All,

Happy new year!

There are so many people (companies) doing great things with Jenkins but we
are not really capturing this. I am looking for compelling Jenkins stories
to turn into case studies to highlight the wonderful things our community
is doing with Jenkins.

If you are interested in sharing your stories please reach out to me.

The process looks like this: 1 hr interview with the case study writer(s),
they will go away to write up the content, there may be follow up emails
for clarification. Once they are done with the write up you review and
approve the content.
The turnaround time is about 30 days but the intent is to not take up too
much of your time. Pls let me know if you are interested.

Thnx,
alyssa

[ANN]: Contributor Summit - Tuesday Sept 13 @ Santa Clara Convention Center

2016-09-01 Thread Alyssa Tong
Hello,

In the past couple of months the events team has been planning a Jenkins
Contributor Summit at Jenkins World
. This is very similar to past
summits held after the Jenkins User Conferences. This year’s focus areas
are: Blue Ocean, Pipeline, and Storage Pluggability. More details such as
the summit format and content can be found HERE
.
Discussions
will be highly interactive as we’d like to hear your pain-points, other
perspectives and then we’ll brainstorm on ways to improve Jenkins in these
areas. Spacing is limited so RSVP
 soon.

[ANN] - Demos at Jenkins World

2016-08-30 Thread Alyssa Tong
Hello,

The events team is organizing a series of short demos to be done in the
Open Source Hub at Jenkins World
. The demos will be delivered
by contributors and JAM leaders
 who are
attending Jenkins World. As many of us do not know each, the demos aim to
act as an ice breaker, connecting and helping each other via our common
interest, Jenkins. Details to the demos and schedule can be seen HERE
.

Looking forward to meeting you at the hub.

Currently there is no meetup group in Washington DC we'd love to have you

If your question is pertaining to CIA

currently have a couple ambassadors out there - one in France and 2 in Peru
that i'm aware of.

wanted to clarify - when you say you'd be able to help out does that mean
you'd be able to be an 'organizer'? At the moment we do not have Jenkins
Area meetup in DC so technically there's no 'help out' oppty unless someone
steps up to be an organizer.

Re: Proposal: revisiting JUC in 2016

2015-10-21 Thread Alyssa Tong
I think meeting on the East Coast is a great idea. The challenge w/ NY is
that it's super expensive to do anything :o) and Boston had a good turn out
but the Bay Area seems to always have the greatest turn out, the attendance
in the Bay Area has doubled to tripled in # compared to other cities..

Jenkins Meetups and CIA

2015-09-17 Thread Alyssa Tong
Hi All,

There's an initiative to start Jenkins Area Meetup (JAM)

to help local communities stay on top of the latest and greatest Jenkins
technology. With over 120,000 active plugins it's important that we
continue to educate and inspire others on the use of Jenkins. We want to
spread Jenkins far and wide.

We are looking for folks who are interested in starting a JAM or
become a Jenkins
CIA . In
support of this effort, CloudBees has sponsored an initial $75,000 to help
communities startup/revive JAMs/CIA programs. If you've already established
a Jenkins Meetup, and need help getting your meeting started, I can
definitely help here as well, just shoot me an email.

Other ways you can be involved:

   - Sign up to become a speaker - share your war stories and show those
   battle scars!
   - Be a venue sponsor
   - Suggest a speaker who has a great Jenkins story to share.
   - Share your ideas for what makes JAMs relevant, and useful for the
   extended community.

Let's join forces to spread Jenkins!!!

thanks,
alyssa

Venue needed for Jenkins meetup in the Bay Area

2015-09-10 Thread Alyssa Tong
Hi All,

We're looking for a facility to host Jenkins Area Meetup
 in the Bay Area on
Sept 23.
There's a change in availability at the CloudBees office therefore we are
looking for another venue to host the meetup. Addition to Kohsuke
speaking, Docker will be joining as the second speaker. We're looking for
space capacity of 40-60 people, food and drinks sponsored by CloudBees, and
projection/screen is needed.

Pls let me know if you're able to help.

thnx

Confused as to why there are two distinct events.

Hi All,

We are happy to announce the Jenkins User Conference 2015

Jenkins across the software delivery process.

sessions, double the number of networking opportunities.
   - *Special keynote by Gene Kim *(in U.S. East and West only) -
Gene is a multiple award winning CTO, researcher and author, “The
Visible Ops Handbook” and “The Phoenix Project: A Novel About IT, DevOps,
and Helping Your Business Win. Gene is a huge fan of IT operations, and
how it can enable developers to maximize throughput of features from “code

   IT environment.
-*Ask the Experts returns - *with expanded hours and
opportunities to ask your most pressing Jenkins questions.
   - *Everyone’s favorite Butler will be present - *get your

Jenkins User Conference 2015 - Save the Date

2015-03-02 Thread Alyssa Tong
Hi All,

Just a couple of announcements for JUC 2015. Planning is well underway and
we've made some big changes - JUC will be a 2 days with event this year:

1) SAVE THE DATE:

   - JUC East Coast (Washington, DC

http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/virginia/hilton-alexandria-mark-center-DCAAHHF/index.html)
   - June 18-19
   - JUC Europe (London, UK

http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/united-kingdom/hilton-london-metropole-LONMETW/index.html?WT.mc_id=zELWAPN0UK1WW2PSH3Search4DGGenericWT.srch=1utm_source=AdWordsutm_medium=ppcutm_campaign=paidsearch)
   - June 23 - 24
   - JUC Israel - July 16 (ETA)
   - JUC West Coast (Santa Clara, CA http://www.santaclara.org/) - Sept
   3-4

2) We are still in the CFP process
https://www.cloudbees.com/jenkins-user-conference-call-papers,
however the deadline is approaching quickly..*March 8* is the deadline for
JUC Washington DC and London.

3) Not submitting a talk? but know of someone who's an amazing speaker? Let
us know who and we'll personally reach out to that person. Just reply to
this email.

4) Other ways to support the Jenkins community
https://www.cloudbees.com/2015-juc-and-cd-summit-world-tour-sponsorships
is by being a JUC sponsor
https://www.cloudbees.com/2015-juc-and-cd-summit-world-tour-sponsorships.
Last year's sponsorship opportunities got snatched up really fast..don't
miss out!

Thanks!

 Hi All,

Last year, many said they couldn't attend the Jenkins User Conference in
Palo Alto due to costs (travel expenses). This year, we've decided to add
JUC East Coast (US), and Germany in addition to JUC Israel and California.
Please see conference dates below, we are working on nailing down exact
dates, pls note that some of these dates may change. With that said, the
 *Call
 for
 Papers*http://www.cloudbees.com/forms/jenkins-user-conference-call-papers.cbis
officially open. If you have suggestions for topics and themes please do
 share your ideas.

I would also like to know where on the East Coast would be the most
central location, that would be convenient and accessible travel wise for
our attendees or if any one know which city on the East Coast has the most
Jenkins users as that can help determine which city to hold the conference.
Some cities that were suggested are Washington DC, Orlando, Philly, Boston.
 Any thoughts on these cities?

WRT sponsorship, I know that Lisa has been hard at work putting together
the 2014 sponsor packages. If you're interested in sponsoring at any of
these events pls contact Lisa Wells
(lwe...@cloudbees.com). FYI, last year's sponsorship packages were taken
up very fast, space is limited.

 *JUC 2014*

- JUC Berlin, Germany [June 5]
- JUC US East Coast [June]
- JUC Israel [tbd - previous years has been in July]
- JUC California [October]

 *Call for Papers Deadline*

- JUC Berlin, Germany [March 30, 2014]
- JUC US East Coast [ March 30, 2014]
- JUC Israel [ March 30, 2014]
- JUC California [July 13, 2014]

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and feedback.

 Regards,
 Alyssa the OC
