Re: MAVEN ERROR

2004-07-28 Thread Cyrille GACHOT
Hi,

AFAIK, the bluesunrise server is down, so you can't download jar from
there.
I don't know if a solution is being found... Maybe a dev guy could tell
you more.

Re: custom localization files not included in deploy

2004-07-28 Thread Cyrille GACHOT
Hi,

copied to the dev list to know their thoughts...
Sorry, maybe I was drunk when I answer your mail. I totally miss the
point.
I've just tested the localization thing the way i use it in J-1.4 (in
wich it used to work), and your right it doesn't work.
There is not my localization directory in the deploy directory, neither
there is any of the Jetspeed localization files in the localization
directory of Jetspeed.
What is odd is that when you don't try to use your own localization
files, everything works fine, even if there is still no files in the
Jetspeed localization directory.

 Hi,

Yes, I have set those properties. But as far as I can
tell, those properties are just configuring the
startup for the Turbine modules. I.e. It tells the
Turbine classloader to load my property file from the
appropriate namespace. The property file, however,
still needs to be there in the deploy directory so
that the classloader will find it, right? When I look
at my Tomcat/webapps directory, I do not see a folder
for my localization bundle, i.e. there is no:

 CATALINA_HOME\webapps\my-portal\WEB-INF\classes\my.appli.dir.modules.localization

folder with a properties file in it. So I think my
problem is basically a problem with either my
project.xml or the version of the jetspeed plugin I
have in Maven. My local properties package just isn't
getting included as part of the built war file.

Hope this rings some bells for someone. I guess I may
just need to hack-in a specific goal to get the pieces
I needed added-in with the war file.

 Thanks,

ParameterPresentationStyle - REPOST

2004-07-28 Thread Cyrille GACHOT
Hi users,

Does anybody use ParameterPresentationStyle?
Nobody ??
Please help...

---THIS IS A REPOST---
I'm using a portlet that need a complex customization. So, I'm looking
to use ParameterPresentationStyle class (or sub-class) and use my own
customization template. I've looked in Jetspeed documentation but didn't
find enough to help me.
In particular, i'd like to know how we can retrieve information from the
template in the Java class (ParameterPresentationStyle class, or Action
class ??).

Any help would be appreciated.

In general, if you don't get any answer quickly, either everybody is busy

answered.
Personnally, I don't understand what you want to achieve and exactly what kind
of information you want to retrieve from the *template*.
It's a tempate, there's no information in there !

Hi Raphaël,

My previous post on this topic is dated from Friday (5 days ago).
My request was on how to retrieve the information the user is typing in
the form of my template.
I don't use the standard form of Jetspeed to customize my portlet,
because it doesn't serve my whishes.
I know how to put my own customization template, how to give her some
info (my objects). What i don't know is how you can retrieve the info
the user has typed in the form.
In the Action class?
In the ParameterPresentationStyle sub-class?
In the session?
In the request attributes?

I hope this enlighten my question.

By default you can't. Portlet customization is handled by the PortletCustomizer
portlet (see admin.xreg). The handling of the form values is done in the portlet's
action class, org.apache.jetspeed.modules.actions.portlets.CustomizeAction.doUpdate().

However, you can define your own customizer portlet in JR.props:
customizer.Portlet = MySuperPortletCustomizer

Btw, all this refers to JS 1.4, but I assume it's the same in 1.5.

Automatic Refresh of Portlet

2004-07-28 Thread Jonathan Hawkins
We have a portlet that displays users tasks as part of a workflow. We
want the portlet to refresh at set intervals, 30 seconds for example.
Ideally we do not want the entire portal to refresh, so the wuation is,
any ideas / mechanisms for achieving this.

So far, we have come up with an applet polling a web service, using
meta-refresh etc

Many thanks

IIRC a portlet can take care of its customization by itself, by setting
the provides.customization parameter to true. In that case,
buildConfigureContext() will be called. But in that case, the portlet
has to take care of the customization all by itself, even for skin,
title etc.

Well, this is not really what i want; it's too complicated.
In fact, what I really want (in a first time) is to obtain something
similar to the WeatherPortlet but with JSP, and not Velocity.
The weather portlet has a parameter Weather Location that has several
fields, and uses onChange=param1.value=this.value to save the new
values . But i can't apply the same method in my JSP.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

Jetspeed 1.5 problem!

2004-07-28 Thread Robin Antony
Hi,
I am having a problem with deploying jetspeed 1.5. My company just bought a
server space in a hosting company. This was to host an application on
jetspeed for one of our customers in US. They were providing a virtual
private server space. So we got the server and installed openCMS. we just
deployed the war file and everything for opencms worked fine. But when we
tried to deploy jetspeed.war I am getting this exception.
It looks like a database problem. But I am just using default hypersonic
database. everything is the same. Its just raw jetspeed1.5. I am totally
lost on what the problem is. I tried changing some path variables here and
there with no result. Is there any way I can check if hypersonic is running?
Or whether jetspeed is able to connect to it? I have also removed multiple
versions of hsqldb.jar from the classpath. I am using tomcat5. Could that be a
problem? Hope you guys will be able to
help me with this. Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Robin Antony

Problem Jetspeed1.5

Hope you guys will be able to
help me with this. Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Robin Antony

Re: PostgreSQL bug

2004-07-28 Thread Mariusz Fitowski
Hello,

 Jetspeed 1.5 has old commons-dbcp and commons-pool.
Please see JS1-484. In my environment(Linux), it
 works fine by the fix!

I replaced these files in Tomcat and Jetspeed /lib directories.

Don't work. While I try to add a new role there is a message: Entity
Name Already Exists. Please choose another unique, identifying name.
But role is added in turbine_role table, and no directory is created.
:-(. Sequence is working good. No turbine_role.objectdata is filled.

This is happened in Jetspeed 1.5 compiled by Maven.

It looks like you are trying to use the database psml manager. Are the
psmls in the database properly? Compare the jetspeed.script to the one that
comes with the war.

Explanation of URLs - Action vs. Action

2004-07-28 Thread Bob Fleischman
Can someone explain the difference, and uses, between
1. the Action Element in a velocity portlet XREG
2. The Action variable in the context
3. action=controls.Maximize (and such) - which are added to urls; and
4. the getAction() method

I find that much of the documentation is a great background reference;
however is there a source for If you want to do this XXX then code like
this YYY

For example -- From a portlet I want 2 buttons or links that open different
customization templates ['Add/Edit Links', 'Change the look of the Portlet']
(Neither of these is the default customization template) in a new browser.

Through trial and error I've worked out some of this. I was wondering if
there is a single 'How To' site.

I don't think that was ever completed. I wrote a ground implementation
using OJB at my previous job, unfortunately I do not have access to the
source code.

I did not see the error when adding a new role.
You may need to modify populate-postgres.sql.
FYI. I'm developing a portal server based on Tomcat,
Jetspeed(created by Jetspeed for Japanese project on

and put the workspace to:

RE: Maven Plugin - Deploy VMs

2004-07-28 Thread Andy . Sun
I have been doing the similar thing for jetspeed 1.5. After you run the
maven jetspeed:genapp. Go to /myportal/src/webapp/WEB-INF/conf to
create your own xreg file. This new xreg file will be included in your
application war file. If you want to modify a xreg file from the Jetspeed
distribution, you can copy the original file to the same folder and modify
it. When you build your war file using Maven plugin, it will replace the one
from the Jetspeed distribution.
Similar approach can be used for the vm template as well. You need to
manually create the templates folder and its subfolder under the WEB-INF.
The folder structure will be the same as the Jetspeed's. Whatever you
modified will replace the original one from Jetspeed when it is built.
I did not dig too deep into how maven does it. As least this is what I
observe. Hopefully this helps.

RE: Using Maven to customize deployment - How to remove defaultPSML?

2004-07-28 Thread Philip Saville
Thanks Eric.

Can I make a comment - please make it possible to remove directories
too... I am trying to create a portal site with the PSML and content
totally role and/or group driven.

My goal is to use the role based PSML to catch all User or
Contributor pages required for standard portal access.

Then have content groups that people can request access too... Then they
can view the new pages (tabs/panes???)... Each lot of content I would
like to have controlled by my local CVS, and be able to deploy the
latest portal using maven. Although DB based PSML would be the best - I
guess a development file based server plus the uploading of PSML to the
production version of the server might handle that... I could include
some kind of approval process too :)

If someone has 30mins to explain to me how those different components
and role/group resources interact, I would really appreciate it.
Something that caught me off guard is the customizing of a role based
rolled-up page creates a new PSML resource for the current user :( Can
that be controlled? I am starting to understand why that would happen
and I think I need to structure my PSML resources correctly so the
rolling up doesn't look really bad, or can be forced to look a
particular way.

Thanks again and best regards,
Philip

I've hacked/developed an extended version of the Jetspeed plugin that
