Outlook 2010 question

2014-07-29 Thread Tom Behler via Jfw
Hello, everyone.

I have discovered a puzzling issue with Outlook 2010 on my University work
laptop computer.

First, as a bit of background, I'm running my personal g-mail account
through Outlook 2010-the University's e-mail program, and I am using Jaws
14. The Laptop is a 64-bit Windows 7 machine.

In my inbox list view, I no longer get the name of the person an e-mail is
from. I get the subject line, and the date of the e-mail, but no name for
the sender.

Interestingly, when I delete a message, and then go into my trash folder,
the sender's name is given for each e-mail in the trash folder listview.

I have tried to find an outlook setting to change in order to correct this
issue with my inbox list view, but so far, have come up dry.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan

RE: Chromebooks and Jaws?

2014-07-29 Thread Chris Jenkins via Jfw
Hello.

You cannot install Jaws for Windows on chromebooks, since JAWS for Windows
will only run on the Windows operating system. It will not run on the
chrome operating system.

You cannot run office for Windows on a Chromebook for the same reason

HP 1800 printer help with help

2014-07-29 Thread T. Civitello via Jfw
I have an HP 1800 printer and accessing the user guide is difficult. It
apparently uses a split screen with topics on one side and the HP viewer on the
others side of the screen. I have been unable to figure out how to move from
one side to the other. F6 has no effect, and the Jaws cursor is of no help. Any
help out there? Tom

RE: accessibility of office 365

2014-07-29 Thread George B via Jfw
Yes I use it with no issues. The important thing is you need to remove the
office you have on your device and then eather sign up for a one month trial,
and then on the same page re download office 2013 and let install to your
computer.

can't download the free scanning tool to check my registryRe: opening .vcf file

2014-07-29 Thread douglasdexheimer via Jfw
I tried to install a free scanning tool called PCTUM3 Setup to check my
registry for errors (I saved it in my Downloads folder first), but my
antivirus security program detected it as a potentially unwanted
application. I opened my security app and selected allow, but in the
installation process I only got so far as the first part of the dialog; my
cursor got stuck on a next button that could not be activated using the
keyboard. Is this a download that requires vision, or was it prevented from
proceeding because of my antivirus security software? Would opening a .vcf
file require something like ccleaner or some other potentially unwanted
program to scan my system and clean any errors from my registry? I hope
this doesn't damage my system so something else goes haywire; one time I
stupidly downloaded an expensive DriverUpdate tool that messed up my sound
settings, and it was a long nightmare getting that restored.
Forgive me if this is not a Duxbury question; fortunately I'm sending this
off list to a private message I got two months ago. Perhaps the Jaws for
Windows list group might have an answer. Thanks.

Thanks.

That sounds like a good solution. There were many times I had to havk
the registry. Just be sure you back it up first.

I highlighted the file and opened the context menu, where I found
Properties but no compatibility tab. I found the option to open with
Firefox and saved the file, but once the page tried to load I once
again found the same freeze and error report dialog. I even selected
the Unblock button but that didn't help. I tried pasting the page
from Firefox into IE but found an ask.com page. Then I returned to
the Downloads page and hit context menu on the file, and discovered
the choice of choosing a program to open the file. This took me to a
page about installing a software like Videocard or Outlook.com or
signing in to this client. I use Outlook Express as my client with an
Earthlink.net account. Might this explain why the program isn't
compatible with my current software, email account or client? Would I
need a new username and/or password to install the needed software?

Its been a few years since I ran XP. Right click the file and
bring up Properties and see if there is a Compatibility tab there. If
so go there and see what that brings up.
