Re: [JOYnet] Query : God or Parents ??

2002-10-31 Thread Jennifer
There is a small correction in the first line of third para instead of
Definitely obedience to God's will comes after obedience to parents it
will be read thus Definitely obedience to God's will comes before
obedience to parents.

Dear Friends,

This is a very tricky question? But if we delve a little deeply, we will

understand.

Firstly we should be sure whether what we understand is truly the will
of God. Most of the times, our mind suggests that this is right and
thats why its the will of God. We have to be very sure that what we
feel is the will of God is truly His will or our will?? This can be done

by regular prayer, fasting reading the Bible. Normally God's will is
not revealed directly. He uses many channels like our friends,
benefactors, office colleagues, priest, our councellors, our brothers,
sisters, relatives or even our parents. Sometimes what we think is
God's will, our parents might say it's not. Then instead of starting a
heated argument, we should ponder and find out why our parents are
against it? Maybe we will get our answer there.

Definitely obedience to God's will come after obedience to parents.
When we obey God, we can never disobey our parents. Our God will never
allow that. But the evil one is very smart, he will use our family to
bind us to do the will of God at times. But here we should remind
ourselves of the word of God, I have come not to bring peace but
division It may happen that when we obey God's will we may receive
opposition from our near and dear ones. But the word of God says that
it will happen. But if we ignore the will of God so that our family
will be happy then that happiness won't be long lasting and we won't
have peace of mind. We should never ignore the first commandment of God

i.e. To love Him with all our heart, mind and soul the rest will
follow. Sooner or later our parents will understand the calling of
God. We can see this in the life of so many saints who left their
homes, even disobeyed their parents to do the will of God and the best
example is St. Francis of Assisi.

I would like to add here that we cannot compare God's love with anyone
not even our parents. His will for us is our good and for the good of
all. Our parents don't know what lies in the future but God knows. But

again we have to be cautious in finding His will for us. But one thing
even we if we get opposition from our parents in doing the will of God,
we should remember this one thing that we should not be rebellious with
our parents cause thats not the spirit of God. Spirit of God is gentle
and patient. We need to be patient and pray to God to give us the
strenght to face the opposition and God will show us the way. I wud
like to end with the following quote which I keep reminding myself
always : God's will in God's ways will never lack God's supply.

Love Prayers
Jennifer

[JOYnet] You are so blessed

2002-10-31 Thread dexon john netto
Dear Friends in Christ...,

My friend sent me this it is quite sobering...  If we could shrink the
earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the
existing human ratios remaining the same, there would be:

57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
8 Africans
52 would be female
48 would be male
70 would be non-white
30 would be white
70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian
6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all
6 would be from the United States.
80 would live in substandard housing
70 would be unable to read
50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would have a college education
1 would own a computer

And also consider:

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness... you are more
blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of
imprisonment, ! the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ... you
are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest,
torture, or death ... you are more blessed than three billion people in
the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof
overhead and a place to sleep ... you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish
someplace ... you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

Be Thankfull in all circumstances with a grateful heart

[JOYnet] Never Judge Our Self

2002-10-31 Thread sajeev alex
Dear Friends,

Jim a great magician well known for his magical shows backed all most all
the trophies wherever he participated.  As the time went thru his shows
also improved too. He slowly started judging himself as a great magician
who knows everything; I almost completed all the chapters of magic. Lot
of changes came in his life,  One day while doing a show taking a pot
covered with a black cloth  he said I am going to change to a bunch of
flower, he spoke something and opened, nothing happened, a very simple
thing according to the books he doesn’t understand what’s happening he
repeated the saying he said in his mind I am trying what I have learned
from text  and used to do, with in split of seconds everything went wrong
he was forced to cu! t the show,  his fans began to curse him he was so
sadden by the thought.

He needs a relaxation to have a new beginning in life. So he decided to
leave to his sister’s house. There, he learned a lesson that too from a
little boy what he missed in the daily run. He saw his sister’s a son
though a little boy not even know how to pray offer his  pray to our
Loving Lord in his ways, my loving Lord help me out in all my ways, fill
me with ur Spirit to remind me all what I have learned and  to learn
easily.  Come to my school as a friend of mine.  That time he understood
he was nothing, I have not learned the basics, he regretted the past, the
next moment the famous magician kneeled down.

Friends, never judge ourselves give thanks to Him for what we have and
always ask the guidance of our loving Lord and our Loving Mother.

my comments on [JOYnet] Query : God or Parents ??

2002-10-31 Thread Ravi Vaz
Hi Joynetters,
This is a very interesting query which jason has brought to our notice.
My answer is very childish, forgive me, but i like to keep things simple.
In Sunday School i learnt, Who made you ?- God made me;
My parents learnt the same thing.
So if god made me and god made my parents then who is bigger and better , God
obviously.
The Creator is greater than the creatures and knows much more abt what he plans to do
with them.
So we obey him and honour our parents ( the commandments say, Honour your father and
mother). Obedience and Honour are two different things, it need not be that i obey the
person i honour or that i honour the one i obey(e.g A dictator like hitler was obeyed
, but it doesnt mean he was honoured by all his people).
Most of the times Gods will and our parents will coincides..no problem
At times when they dont, its time to use a little bit of our common sense and a little
bit of Holy spirits help in discerning what is the right thing to do and how to convey
it to our parents in an un-offensive manner.
Love and Prayers

Re: [JOYnet] Controversial versus?

2002-10-31 Thread Mary Jacobs
Hi Vimal,

From the tone of the letter you presented, it seems as though the writer is
somewhat mocking the Christian faith and what we as Catholics believe. In
fact, it's a bit disheartening to read it. The question of understanding
the bible (whether it be literally or symbolically) is probably one that
takes much study and insight. I'm sure any one of our learned reverend
fathers on joynet can address the questions laid out by the writer, point by
point. I remember being taught that we are supposed to live according to
the New Testament. Perhaps others can shed a little more light to this?

Thanks,...Mary --Calgary, Canada

Hi every one,

Please read the following text which i got from friend (he too is in
joynet)
.The text doesnot justify homosexualiy implicitly but then points to some
controversial versus which we find difficult and avoid quiet often. Don't
we,
quiet often pray open the bible (looking out for quick decisions) get one
of
these worses gets degected and closed the bible. Here we have some worses
which requires some explanation and understanding, and ofcourse there are
plenty other such as, god orders to annihilate the whole of moabite tribe
for
their idolatry including the newborn ?. The words are not just limited to
leviticus but through out the old testament. I thnk it's good idea to have
some brain storm in this matter which will enhance our understanding of our
bible. Looking forward to ur views and ideas .

Luv and prayers
Vimal Gracian

Dear :

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I
have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that
knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend
the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that
Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of
debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other
specific laws and how to follow them:

1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates
a pleasing odour for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my
neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I
smite them?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in
Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair
price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in
her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19-24. The problem is,
how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.

4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and
female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A
friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not
Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

5. I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus
35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated
to kill him myself?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than
homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I
have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading
glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle
room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair
around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by
Lev.19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes
me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two
different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing
garments made of two different kinds of thread
(cotton/polyesterblend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot.
Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the
whole town together to stone them? -Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just
burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people
who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev.20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident
you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is
eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted disciple and adoring fan,

Jack

RE: [JOYnet] Controversial versus?

2002-10-31 Thread Neovet
Hi friends in Christ,

I dont think its worth wasting our energy in such type of negative
discussions.
These are such questions which are arised by protestents regarding our faith
in Mother Mary.
We know what is right and wrong in the present world according to the
teaching of the Bible.
Then why should we think about Old Testament and its teachings.

Yours in Christ
