Re: [JOYnet] Clarification Luke 12:53

2003-02-07 Thread Wilson Thomas
Dear Sebastian,

What Tessy has given is right. Jesus is talking about the division where
there is no unity in Jesus (or division where unity is in Satan). Jesus will
not allow world moving against God's plan (Read Micah 7:6). For this reason
he come with fire on earth (Read Malachi 4:6, 1-6) to distroy those who
belongs to the world.

These division is not new in old testament. God had punished his people many
times whenever they moved away from His plan. You can read the first of
these kinds in Genesis chapter 7:4 (Noah) 11:8 (Babel Tower) so on..

I think you will be more clear if you meditate on Mathew 24

with lots of love and prayers

 Dear Tessy,

 Greetings of peace and goodwill.

Thank you for the clarification. But still I couldnt
able to understand or compare the Word of God with the
 explanation given by you.

 Not Peace but Division

49I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I
wish it were already kindled! 50But I have a baptism
to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is
completed! 51Do you think I came to bring peace on
earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52From now on
there will be five in one family divided against each
other, three against two and two against three. 53They
will be divided, father against son and son against
father, mother against daughter and daughter against
 mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and
 daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.

with love and prayers in Jesus,
 Sebastian

One of the pastors I know had given this
interpretation to this passage. But you would need
to read from Luke 12: 51 onwards.

Here it says that Jesus Christ has not come for
unity but for division. When do fights and quarrels
come up in families.. it is when family members have
focus on things other than Jesus. If family members
hold anything other than Jesus as their focal point
then it leads to misery and strife in the family. In
usual families Jesus is replaced with money,
  selfishness, worldly pleasures etc..

If Jesus is given the rightful place then there will
be peace in one's life and in one's family.

  luv prayers,
  Tessy.

Re: [JOYnet] should we fear it??

2003-02-07 Thread Jason :)
Dear JYs and more specially Wijo

Yeah we need to pray. But lets us remember Two Things :

1. To Fear is to concede.
So if u fear the Lord u acknowledge his greatness. if you fear the evil one
u acknowledge his greatness. u chose whom to fear now. u can neither serve
two masters. neither can u not serve no masters.

2. Dogs Bark.
Whether Black / White / dalmation / dober hound whatever. They bark.
You feed it, it remains quite. But after sometime somewhatever reason, it
will bark again. Some of them even bite. The thing is are you afraid of
being bitten
The Hindus will bark against Christians, Even the Muslims, Even the Atheists
whoever. They raise 10,000 points , you will give them 10,000 reasons. And
even after all this they will find Point No. 10,001 and so on

Remember, you havent become a Christian on your own accord. Christ has
chosen you. Christ has chosen them too to remind you that you are a
Christian. In his time they will realise. Who knows you may be his vehicle
for them to travel to their faith in Christ. But till then hold firm to your
faith and Pray that whatever his will let it be done. Let not such outburst
overwhelm you. There are still many more to come and many more to continue.

However if u do feel that such matters are affecting u or stunting ur faith
then to every point raised seek advise from a Priest or any word minister
[[EMAIL PROTECTED] :)] or maybe Joynet out here. It is good to have some
discussion out here periodically.

Wijo, If you notice from your own mail. The Hindu + Muslims are not telling
Christians against Christ. They are more telling their own flock about why
they should not become Christians. More than you afraid of what they could
do to you they are more afraid of people leaving and following the one true
God:)

Take Care

 Dear friends,
This is regarding a program telecasted yesterday 4-2-03 on a reputed
malayalam
channel at about 8pm. It was a report on the Hindu Sangamam at
Cherukolpuzha.
The person was talking about making India a Hindu nation. He was making a
comparision study about the vedic books, Quran and the Bible. He was
making
unrelevent comparisions and statements telling that Hinduisum is the only
religion which has scientific base, from his talks we can understand that
he
is not at all aware of the teachings of the Holy Bible or Quran. He
strongly
states that India should become a Hindu country. He is worried about our
institutions, publications and all these type of movements. Still I wonder
why
this type of programs are telecasted in prime time.
Yet another news is from the madrassas (muslim study centers) here nearby,
they are taking classes to muslim youth. they are not at all worried about
hindus but they really are afraid of christians, they teach that
christianity
was not God created but was a creation of the mastermind of Saint Paul.
who
was first killing all christians but afterwards found a scope of becomming
the
leader of a big group he managed to make a 'story' of his encounter with
God
and later he became the first pope.
They have many more arguements and these type of stories. (still they fear
to
say a bad word about Jesus and mother Mary.)
some of my friends (muslims) comes to clarify these types of stories.
why should they do such things , to make bad remarks of christianity to
boost
up their religion. won't this be a threat to us later on??.
should'nt we pray for this too?
 with prayers and love
 wijo

[JOYnet] A CURE FOR GRUMBLING

2003-02-07 Thread josunjose
Aye u awsome people of Yahweh!

A few days ago it rained here in Delhi and the fog was really bad. The
winter supposed to make an exit by now is still lingering around making
the nights really cold.

My mom told me that the vegetables at home are over and I need to go to
the market and buy some. I wasn’t very enthusiastic about it, coz after a
rain the roads are a mess with water puddles everywhere, its really yuk!
But since its mummy who said, I chose to obey. (maybe I could atone for
some of my many sins) She gave me the list and off I went in the direction
of the market.

Carrot juice is one of my favorites, I drink a lot of it. That day was no
exception. On reaching the market, I ordered a glass of carrot juice from
the juice vendor and started sipping it.

As I was sipping from the glass, my eyes strayed at the muddy puddles and
wet gravel that was all over the place. All of a sudden my eyes fell on a
scene at the street corner across the road. I gulped down my carrot juice
fast, paid the money and walked up to street corner. I was truly moved at
what I saw. As I was just looking on, I struck upon an idea.

With two big shoppers empty and folded in my hand, I immediately jumped on
a rickshaw and asked the ‘rickshaw wala’ to ride me home fast. The
‘rickshaw wala’ thought that there was some emergency and he was doing his
best to reach me home fast. Between breaths he asked “sahib, kya hogaya?”
(what happened, sir?) I replied “nothing, just reach me home immediately”

When I reached home, I ran up to the gate and rapped on it. I directed my
youngest two brothers Johny and Akku to hop onto the rickshaw and
accompany me back to the vegetable market.

Mummy must have wondered at my speedy return. I never spoke anything to
anyone. Akku and johny were on the rickshaw with me. They thought I was
taking them out for a small jolly ride. I’ve got a surprise for both of
them I informed them. Their spirits were up. They were all smiles. I
didn’t mention anything further.

Johnny and Akku are a remarkable duo. I feel very privileged to have such
wonderful brothers like them. They are good team players. Of late though,
I’ve been observing a trend. They have developed a very unholy habit. They
grumble and whine for almost anything and everything. They keep comparing
themselves on the basis of what they don’t have and what their friends
have. When something is shared among us, they’ll see who has got the
biggest piece and start saying that they were purposely given the small
pieces. At times from what they say, it is apparent that they feel
inferior because they don’t have the sophisticated gadgets and stuff that
their friends at school possess. Johny being an early teenager. It is very
difficult at times to advice him or correct him. He thinks he already
knows everything! He tends to find fault with everything and everyone. And
if we try to advice this guy his defenses go up. To be honest, for me it
takes a tremendous amount of self control to tolerate these type of
characters. I’ve tried a lot to advice him, but even before I say anything
he intercepts with “now don’t start your big preaching to me ok!” and he’s
such a master at switching off his mind if he wants to. The fellow who
coined up the axiom “Ten can take an ass to the river, but hundred cannot
make him drink!” must have had people like Johny in mind!. I’ve been
trying to innovate ways in which I can be a friend and help him to stop
his grumbling and fault finding.

As the rickshaw reached the market place, we all got off paid the rickshaw
wala and strode towards the street corner. Thankfully, nothing had
changed.

There at the street corner, squatting around a burning tyre on the wet and
muddy earth were three small boys, their bare feet half sunken in the wet
mud. Their clothes scanty, tattered and dirty, revealed bodies beneath them
that pined for warmth and cover.

These kids were taking turns puffing at one cigarette and were warming
their hands by the burning tire. That day they must have been happy coz
their faces betrayed that. A few feet away were 3 huge sacks filled up,
leaning on an electric pole.

My brothers were standing on either side of me. I don’t know what was
going on in their minds, but I know something was happening. My brothers
were dumb for a time. They never spoke a word to me. They just looked on.

I decided to take it a step even further. We walked up to where they were.
I bend down putting my hands by the fire and asked them. “dosto, mei bhi
haath garam kar saktha hu?” (friends may I warm my hands also?) “haanji
bhaiya aaja na” (why not bro. Come) I sat on my feet, careful that my
clothes don’t touch the muddy earth. Akku and johny also joined me. “Are
these your children?” they enquired, No I said, they are my brothers.
“They must be going to school isn’t it?” one of them asked.” “yes the do”
I replied. I took the opportunity and threw back the same question at
them, “aaplog padai karthe ho?” (do you folks study?), “how can we

Hello friends,
wish to thank you all for the prayers that each of you
had done for the success of the forerunners gathering.
It was a great time with 12 of the chosen ones
gathered for the gathering.
others due to various other commitments were unable to
attend the program.
As such it turned out to be a all GUJARAT gathering.
as we had no representation from the 'runners out of
gujarat.
It was a very good time of fellowship and sharing and
coming to know each other.
And also as a forerunners team we were able to put
together our dreams and think about future of Gujarat
as a whole.
Do continue to keep us all in your prayers.
I also assure you our support through prayers.

with love,
Roy Manuel.

[JOYnet] Great Lessons For Life - very touchy!

2003-02-07 Thread Rosy .
1 - Most Important Lesson

During my second month of school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a
conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read
the last one: What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several
times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her
name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before
class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our
quiz grade. Absolutely, said the professor. In your careers, you will
meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care,
even if all you do is smile and say 'hello'. I've never forgotten that
lesson. I've also never forgotten her name was Dorothy.

2 - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at 11:30 PM, an older African American woman was standing on
the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rain storm.
Hercar had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she
decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her,
generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took her to
safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxi cab. She seemed to
bein a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him.
Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise,
a giant console color TV was delivered to his home A special note was
attached. It read: Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the
other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits.
Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying
husband's bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me
and unselfishly serving others.
Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy
entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of
water in front of him. How much is an ice cream sundae? he asked.
Fifty cents, replied the waitress. The little boy pulled his hand out
his pocket and studied the coins in it. Well, how much is a plain dish
of ice cream? he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and
the waitress was growingimpatient. Thirty-five cents, she brusquely
replied. The little boy again counted his coins. I'll have the plain ice
cream, he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the
table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and
left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the
table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five
pennies - You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have
enough left to leave her a tip.

4 - Fourth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know
alittle girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare and serious disease.
Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her
5-year-old brother, who had miraculously survivedthe same disease and had
developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained
the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be
willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a
moment before taking a deep breath and
saying, Yes, I'll do it if it will save her. As the transfusion
progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did,
seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his
smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling
voice,Will I start to die right away? Being young, the little boy had
misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in order to save her.

God Bless You All,
Love and Prayers,

[JOYnet] posting of jobs ---concluion ----

2003-02-07 Thread stanly kulangara
Hi Pradeep, Janson, and all JY's
First of all I really doubt this mail will be posted in joynet or NOT !!!
You really did a good job by fighting agaist the Job posting Issue. Let me share with
you my first feeling after the original email banning all the Job posting on Joynet. I
really feel bad and totally discouraged by that mail and decided Dont ever forward any
of the job posting to the joynet!.
Because I have forwarded many of my close friends company job availability to the
joynet and took the pain to collect all the resume from my Joynet friends which I have
received on personal mail and forwarded directly to the available jobs. I think your
resume was also there for one job.
I did this because I know the diffeculty in getting a good job and the situation of
not having a good. I had faced it a lot couple of years back where I had no one to
help at all. If you could help any one and give at least some hope, I believe that
will be a great help for a job hunting person or a joynetter.
But after seeing the banned mail I felt I did something wrong to the Joynet and
totally disapointed with that and feel like some thing going wrong some where??. I
know there will be few people taking advantage of everything and I will tell you those
people are not the people of GOD. But being a real jesus youth we can simply identify
and neglet them.
I read on that mail that the joynet posting are increasing the traffic on the net. I
know for a person who has a good job and enough money to live, these postings are a
head ache and they say they dont have the time to delete it.
I can tell for the jobless and job hunting people ( I believe the mojority are of this
catagory), those posting are of much hope, inspiration and like a real gift from GOD.
It is upto you to decide who/what is right and good.
May God bless us...Sorry if I hurt anyone by this mail.
Lots of prayers,

A few of US have responded to my last mail regarding JOB Posting in JOYNET.I
think some of them did send their views only to my mail id ,not to joynet.I
had strongly argued in favour of jobpostings in my last mail.

I came to the following conclusions after reading the responses from Janson,
Giju,Jose Joseph,Shaji Jose,Jinson J Elayidam.(thank you all for telling your
views)

Even the orginator of this topic Janson has not argued strongly aganist all
kinds of job posting.

My conlusions from above mails are as follows,

If it is some important job openning , that is very genuine and not
availalble thru any other means, it is acceptable to certain extent. It is OK.
I too wanted said only this much. Some of the opennings, leave only two three
days to apply. So posting of them on joynet would really be a help to persons
who check their JOynet mails daily.
Also if subject line indicate that its is a mail contianing JOb posting those
who are not interested can delete it simply with two mouse clicks.

You may notice that some of the mails (of course, those with spritual subject
lines) do n't have anything valueable in it.All of us need to open it to see
there is nothing inside it.JOb postings with clearly shown subject lines wont
cause less trouble than such mails.

Next , which are important opennings that are imp enough to waste JY's
precious resources.? I am sure all members here have the maturity to decide
on it. Janson , that is why I did n't say any thing about other job mails like
the one from Angelo.

Comment: We r fellow citizens of the saints -says St.Paul.Reading
understanding the heroic self-sacrificing lives of the saints who really
served the mankind, is a daily tonic which strengthens all that is
wholesome and generous in us and helps us to overcome our complacency and
our fear of being different from other people.

REFLECTION:

If u lose the supernatural meaning of ur life, your charity
will be philanthropy; your purity ,decency; your mortification, stupidity;your
discipline,a lash; and all your works, fruitless. -St. Josemaria Escriva

[JOYnet] LET US STOP

2003-02-07 Thread FR. THOMAS THARAYIL
Dear Loving Friends,
Nice to see that all are very active in many of the discussions. I am to put
forward a suggestion about the 'discussion' on the posting of job vacancies. All the
ideas and suggestions put forth were really with good intentions in one way or other.
So let us not judge anybody. But everything has to come to a reasonable conclusion.
I think it is time now.
1. Let us be aware that ours is a family of loving, caring bros sis. If one in
our family is wandering without a job, would we not try our best to help him/her? If
not what bro/sis are we?? So let us not outrightly resist the postings.
   2. An advice to those who post: definitely you are doing it with all good
intentions. Please try to make sure, to the best of your ability, that those are
genuine and helpful, so that our bros/sis may not be cheated. So also try to make it
as short as possible; those who are interested will definitely take the rest step to
get more information. It would be highly advisable that you give your id too so that
those who are interested can contact you for details. Definitely this is a great
service.
3. ONLY A CLICK. Should we not be little more considerate? It is for all of us
to preach, share many good ideas; but when it comes to the reality, in practice it is
very difficult. True that increasing the no. of mails is a problem for many. But I
think there are many ways to deal with it. You who are experts in comp. can suggest
ways like, filtering your own mails, or putting them in inbox and opening them when
you have time or such. But the bottom line is that we only have to take a little pain/
have a little more patience to just click close / delete. In Christian charity let
us take that pain for our bros/sis.
4. Those who post it, if could give a title like 'job vacancies', it would be easy
for the recipients even at the first site to either open or delete.
LASTLY, I recall a sharing we had in Canada during the last WYD, by Fr.
S.Areekat, where, while he was giving an idea about what JY is, he mentioned clearly
the fact that it is a forum where we try to help one another in various ways to help
our young bros/sis to find jobs also. And I do truly believe that it is an important
ministry. So please, in good spirit let us stop the discussion, with the understanding
that we will help our bros/sis, even when it is painful for us in some way. God bless
you all. Sorry for being long, but could not avoid.

cream, he said.

Being young, the little boy had
misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in orde

Re: [JOYnet] Is this true???

2003-02-07 Thread Christopher D'Souza
Hello Joynetters,

This article appeared in the December issue of Charisindia .. If these
preachers have made these statements (and it looks like they have - since
their words have been quoted), then heeding them would be dangerous to our
faith as they are based on erroneous doctrines. By virtue of the blatant error
the statements convey, I also believe that most of the mainline protestant
churches would certainly regard them as erroneous too.
False doctrines on the Trinity, nature of God, Jesus, our redemption etc have
been prevalent and refuted since the days of the early church. I do not wish
to get into the specific errors since they are very obvious and self -evident.
In case anyone wants to look into the doctrinal aspects behind these tenets of
faith, please refer to church documents such as the Catechism of the Catholic
church http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/ccc_toc.htm,
etc

Having said this, I must also say that just because we find erroneous
doctrines in some programs, we should'nt regard the entire channel as heretic
since there are a broad spectrum of churches and preachers who appear on it
and not all have the same doctrine. There are some programs like messages for
day to day Christian living (devoid of doctrine-which may or may not be
acceptable to us), talk shows, documentaries, childern's ministry,
Evangelizaton efforts, works of mercy etc that seem to be positively edifying
and worth emulating. Good testmonies are also telecasted. Who can refute a
persons testimony esp if his life has changed totally? I myself have
benefited from some of the programs (not all of course) but the teachings on
practical day to day living are very uplifting. Some of the are worth
watching and emulating. I suggest that we don't discard the entire channel (we
get the 'God' channel here - earlier we had TBN) as anti-Christian or
heresy-infested but selectively view programs learning from the good and
dropping the erroneous ones. However, new Christians and those with shallow
faith and doctrine would be easily
gullible when error is mixed with truth and it is better to be on guard

What approach do we then take?

A prayerful approach: Error sometimes creeps in when we are not walking in the
truth that we already hold. We twist scripture to suit our pet beliefs. This
has to do with obedience and therefore we need to pray for it - pray for
holiness of those who preach. Purity of doctrine preached especially because
they preach in the name of Christ. Monthly prayer point :-)

A sober approach: We need to understand that although our church has the
fulness of truth, false teaching is even being spread within the confines of
our Church (of course, it may not be 'official' since the Vatican is clear on
what we believe). There are a few preachers among the church that preach
heresy-infested New Age doctrines, philosophies of
indifferentism (all religions are equal) and what not from their pulpits. I
have witnessed this myself and am sure some of you would have too. Now, if a
protestant were to attend one of these services, would we not be conveying an
altogether wrong impression of the doctrines of our church? We need to
positively correct the error within I Cor 5:12-13

A Catholic approach : When there is no major doctrinal error, we shouldn ot
generalize or condemn Mk 9:37-39

A discerning approach : I Jn 4:1 We need to know at least the basics our faith
well - from Church documents and encyclicals, Bible commentaries and good
catholic literature. We need to be able to spot and counter any false
teaching. II Cor 11:13

However, we need to do so with humility and without generalization which is
detrimental to Christian unity. We may have excellent analytical and
apologetic skills. But we also need to make use of the media like these
channels (and like the article pointed out - Msgr Fulton Sheen did) if we
believe that our faith is worth holding and sharing. Otherwise we would be no
more than brilliant critics. Only then we will be able to prove worthy of the
treasure that has been entrusted to us and meet the yearning in the hearts of
so many who do not know the Saviour.

Love and prayers,
Christopher

[JOYnet] HOW A SON THINKS

2003-02-07 Thread Primeson James
HOW A SON THINKS ...

This is about how a son thinks at different ages:

4 Years My daddy is great.

6 '' My daddy knows everybody.

10 '' My daddy is good but is short tempered .

12 '' My daddy was very nice to me when I was young .

14 '' My daddy is getting fastidious.

16 '' My daddy is not in line with the current times.

18 '' My daddy is becoming increasingly cranky .

20 '' Oh! Its becoming difficult to tolerate daddy .Wonder how Mother
puts up with him .

25 '' Daddy is objecting to everything .

30 '' It's becoming difficult to manage my son . I was so scared of my
father when I was young .

40 '' Daddy brought me up with so much discipline .Even I should do the
same .

45 '' I am baffled as to how my daddy brought us up .

50 '' My daddy faced so many hardships to bring us up . I am unable to
manage a single son .

55 '' My daddy was so far sighted and planned so many things for us .He
is one of his kind and unique .

60 '' My daddy is great .

Thus, it took 56 years to complete the cycle and come back to the 1st. stage.
