[JOYnet] Don't Let Me Cry

Dont Let Me Cry

My son Gilbert was eight years old and had been in Cub Scouts only a
short time. During one of his
meetings he was handed a sheet of paper, a block of wood and four tires
and told to return home and
give all to dad.

That was not an easy task for Gilbert to do. Dad was not receptive to
doing things with his son. But Gilbert tried. Dad read the paper and
scoffed at the idea of making a pine wood derby car with his
young, eager son. The block of wood remained untouched as the weeks
passed.

Finally, mom stepped in to see if I could figure this all out. The
project began. Having no carpentry skills, she decided it would be best
if she simply read the directions and let Gilbert do the work. And he
did. She read aloud the measurements, the rules of what they could do and
what we couldn't do.

Within days his block of wood was turning into a pinewood derby car. A
little lopsided, but looking great (at least through the eyes of mom).
Gilbert had not seen any of the other kids cars and was feeling pretty
proud of his Blue Lightning, the pride that comes with knowing you did
something on your own.

Then the big night came. With his blue pinewood derby in his hand and
pride in his heart they headed
to the big race. Once there Gilbert's pride turned to humility. His car
was obviously the only car made
entirely on his own. All the other cars were a father-son partnership,
with cool paint jobs and sleek body styles made for speed.

A few of the boys giggled as they looked at Gilbert's lopsided, wobbly,
unattractive vehicle. To add to the humility Gilbert was the only boy
without a man at his side. A couple of the boys who were from single
parent homes at least had an uncle or grandfather by their side, Gilbert
had Mom.

As the race began it was done in elimination fashion. You kept racing as
long as you were the winner. One by one the cars raced down the finely
sanded ramp. Finally it was between Gilbert and the sleekest, fastest
looking car there. As the last race was about to begin, my wide eyed, shy
eight year old ask if they could stop the race f! or a minute, because he
wanted to pray. The race stopped.

Gilbert hit his knees clutching his funny looking block of wood between
his hands. With a wrinkled brow he set to converse with his Father. He
prayed in earnest for a very long minute and a half. Then he stood, smile
on his face and announced, 'Okay, I am ready.

As the crowd cheered, a boy named Tommy stood with his father as their
car sped down the ramp. Gilbert stood with his Father within his heart
and watched his block of wood wobble down the ramp
with surprisingly great speed and rushed over the finish line a fraction
of a second before Tommy's car.

Gilbert leaped into the air with a loud Thank you as the crowd roared
in approval. The Scout Master came up to Gilbert with microphone in hand
and asked the obvious question, So you prayed to win, huh, Gilbert?

To which the young boy answered, Oh, no sir. That wouldn't be fair to
ask God to help you beat someone else. I just asked Him to make it so I
don't cry when I lose.

Children seem to have a wisdom far beyond us. Gilbert didn't ask God to
win the race, he didn't ask God to fix the out come, Gilbert asked God to
give him strength in the outcome. When Gilbert first saw the other cars
he didn't cry out to God, No fair, they had a fathers help.

No, he went to his Father for strength. Perhaps we spend too much of our
prayer time asking God to rig the race, to make us number one, or too
much time asking God to remove us from the struggle, when we should be
seeking God's strength to get through the struggle. Gilbert didn't pray
to win, thus hurt someone else, he prayed that God supply the grace to
lose with dignity. Gilbert, by his stopping the race to speak to his
Father also showed the crowd that he wasn't there without a dad, but
His Father was most definite! ly there with him. Yes, Gilbert walked away
a winner that night, with his Father at his side

[JOYnet] Reg. Agape '03

2003-01-20 Thread Biji Thomas
Dear All,

Praise the Lord

AGAPE '03 – THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Yes, this is what 400+ youth from all over Mumbai experienced from 17 to
19th January at Tabore Ashram – the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.
It was really a wonderful and sweet experience. On the second day after
the confession and the prayer for inner healing, many youth were healed
and touched by the Lord. Many miracles took place. I myself felt very
peaceful and secured in the hands of our Lord. Raiju Chettan's sharing
abt his life experience was superb and hurt touching. Everyone responded
with one tremendous voice 'YES! LORD to his call for a dedicated Jesus
Youth.

One the day of Pentecost after the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the
Apostles were full of enthusiasm and zeal to proclaim the word of God.
This is what i am feeling now. Yes i also want to do something for my
Lord.

It was also a wonderful experience meeting some of the joynetters
personally.

A sincere thanks to the organisers of Agape '03 and to all those who
prayed to make this Meet a successful one.

Yours in Jesus Christ

[JOYnet] Mother

2002-10-28 Thread Biji Thomas
Mother

Her children rise up and call her blessed... (Proverbs 31:28)

She dreamed of you from the time she was a little girl cradling a baby
dollin her arms.

She always saw you playing around the little cottage in her childhood
dreams.

She carried you in her body and you made her sick every morning for
weeksand
weeks.

She bore you into the world through intense pain but when she heard you
cry
and saw your wrinkled face she forgot all about it and wept tears of joy.

She fed you at her breast and her whole world revolved around you.

She stole into your room at night just to watch you sleep and she was
sure
you were the most beautiful child on earth.

She set up through the night to bathe away the fever and at breakfast
your
dad said; Sleep well, honey? oblivious to the all-night vigil.

She somehow always knew when you needed her, even in the middle of the
night, and she came to your r! oom and changed your bedding and made sure
you
were warm and dry.

She covered your ears and gave you your coat and checked your homework
and
made you practice the piano and set through all your ball games and
recitals
like they were the seventh game of the world series and a debut at
Carnige
Hall.

She nagged you to brush your teeth with words of wisdom like; Be true to
your teeth or they will be false to you.

She changed your diaper and cleaned up when you were sick and washed
underwear no one else would touch without a chemical suit.

She made sure you had the drumstick and your dad had the breast and acted
like she preferred the wings. Her oatmeal cookies made you forget the
beating you took from the neighborhood bully, or the slow rate of
greeting
card sales.

She listened to you and didn't laugh when others would have mocked you.

She believed in you when you didn't believe in yourself and prayed! for
you
even when you didn't think you needed it.

She made you think you could do things you were sure you couldn't do.

She was tough enough to call your bluff and discipline you and give you a
sense of boundaries and the security that comes with it.

She spanked you when Spocking was all the trend with lesser mothers.

She knew when you needed a spanking or just a nap and she didn't always
give
you candy though she longed to indulge you.

She was always waiting when you came in late. When you complained about
it,
she pretended to be asleep the way you always did when you wanted her to
carry you in from the car after a long trip.

She read the Bible to you and read the Bible in front of you and did what
mothers have to do to make sure the family is faithful in church.

She made your dad a much better man than he ever would have been without
her.

She mended clothes as a labor of love and it broke! her heart to see how
quickly you grew out of them.

She knew you were only loaned to her from God and soon the house would
fall
silent again.

She washed mountains of dishes and truckloads of laundry. she put up food
on
the hottest summer days and didn't complain.

Her most sincere prayers were the ones she sent heavenward in gratitude
for
you.

She filled your home with fragrance and beauty and music. The smell or
her perfume and fresh-cut flowers, bacon for breakfast and Sunday roast.

Her eyes were bright and happy and full of life.

She wept though, wept and worried a thousand times for you when no one
ever
knew.

She rose early on holidays so you could enjoy a festive meal and an
enduring
memory.

She planned for days and worked for hours so that in a few minutes you
could
gulp it down and go watch football. You didn't always thank her or help
her
with the dishes, but those meals have bee! n a cherished memory for
years.

She baked you special treats just to watch you eat them.

Something inside made her happier the more you ate.

She wore old dresses so you could have a new ball glove.

She skipped vacations and second honeymoons so you could go to camp.

She limited expenses for her hobbies so you could get your band
instrument.

She was happy with last year's fashion so you could have this years
tennis
shoes.

She didn't abandon the family when your dad was insensitive to her needs.

She took the blame for your failures and stood back and let your dad have
the glory for your successes.

And having done all these things and a thousand others that make mother a
sacred word, she still felt she wasn't the mother she should have been

[JOYnet] That They Were His Favorites

2002-10-28 Thread Biji Thomas
That They Were His Favorites ... By Mother Teresa

My sisters are very busy with the poorest of the poor, with the
handicapped, the blind, the abnormal. We have homes for the seriously
ill...Therefore I want to pray and to thank God for all the beautiful
things
that my sisters have done in the House of the Dying. What reigns there
above
all is the joy of helping the ill to die in peace with God.

You would be amazed to see the calmness with which these people die. One
day
the sisters picked up a man who was already half-eaten by worms. He said,
I
have lived in the streets like an animal, but I am going to die like an
angel, surrounded by love and care. He really died like an angel, with a
very serene death.

Sometime ago, we in Calcutta underwent a period when sugar was very
scarce.
Somehow the story spread that Mother Teresa had no sugar for her orphans.
 A
child said to his parents, For three days I won'! t eat sugar: what I
save I
want to give it to Mother Teresa. So, his parents who had never been to
our
house, brought the child with a can of sugar. He was four years old and
could barely speak, but the small child had a great love: he loved with
sacrifice.

In Calcutta we care for some seven thousand people every day. If one day
we
don't cook, they will not eat. A sister came to me one day and said,
Mother, there is no rice for Friday and Saturday. We should let the
people
know.  I was surprised because throughout twenty-five years I had never
had
to hear anything like that.

Friday morning, about nine o'clock, there came a truck full of thousands
of
small loaves of bread. No one in Calcutta knew why the government had
closed
the schools that day, but it had happened, and all the bread was brought
to
us. For two days the  people we cared for were able to get enough bread.

I guessed why God had close! d the schools: He wanted the people we care
for
to know that they were more important than grass, than birds, than the
lilies of the field --- that they were His favorites.

Lord, make us worthy to serve our brothers and sisters, men and women of
the world, who live and die in poverty and hunger. Give them this day
through our hands, their daily bread.  And through our love and
understanding, give them peace and joy. Amen.

in wishing... but what to do, I had been to kerala for a retreat
at Jersualem Retreat Centre, Trishur.  Joined today only. It was a good
experience. Feeling now fresh and full of energy and filled with
spirit.  I came in touch with Joynet through my office colleague Lyann
around one year back can't remember exactly when.. and I am very grateful
to her for introducing me to Joynet.  Now i am proud to be a part of
Joynet family and have learnt a lot from this family. I have a question
in my mind.. Can anyone throw light on how and when Joynet came into
existence and who is behind it? Just to know its origin. Yours in Jesus

[JOYnet] Here's something to think about!!

2002-10-04 Thread Biji Thomas

Here's something to think about!!   A candle loses nothing by lighting
another candle   A few years ago, at the Seattle Special Olympics, nine
contestants, all physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the
starting line for the 100-yard dash.   At the gun, they all started out,
not exactly in a dash, but with relish to run the race to the finish and
win. All, that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt,
tumbled over a couple of times, and began to cry. The other eight heard
the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back. Then they all turned
around and went back..every one of them.   One girl with Down's
Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said, This will make it better.

Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line.

Everyone in the stadium stood, and the cheering went on for several
minutes. People who were there are telling the story. Why?

Because deep down we know this one thing: What matters in this life is
more than winning for ourselves. What matters in this life is helping
others win, even if it means slowing down and changing our course. If you
pass this on, we may be able to change our hearts as well as someone
else's.   A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle

[JOYnet] When Life Doesn't Make Sense

2002-10-03 Thread Biji Thomas

When Life Doesn't Make Sense

Logic -- we're taught to use logic in dealing with the challenges of
life. Mr. Spock, our Star Trek Vulcan idol, teaches us the power of logic
in handling dilemmas of galactic proportions; Sherlock Holmes relies on
the stream of logical deductions to solve mysteries and crimes, not to
mention the long list of famous philosophers who taught us to compute,
deduce, strategize, and organize. Logic, then, must be an excellent tool
in life.

But what if the challenge we face literally defies logic? What if life
just doesn't make any sense? I'm sure you've been in this situation some
time or another -- during your adolescent years, when you first fell in
love, when your parents broke up, when you quit your job, when your son
died -- when the whole world simply does not compute. What do you do?

Trust your heart.

Life will always be plagued with What if? It's partner question: I
wonder
if...? And more often than not! , the answer is Your guess is as good
as mine. How nice it would be if we could all just rely on logic when we
wonder about what we could've, should've, or would've done in the past.
How easy it would be if we could simply compute to know what lies in
the future. Life would be so simple.

But such is not the case. We wonder if we've done our best for our
children,
and imagine if they will be happy the rest of their lives. We ask
ourselves if we are making the right decisions in moving to another town,
another job, another partner in life. We stay awake at night wondering if
the persons we
care for love us as much as we love them.

How can we stop wondering and asking? Maybe someday the answers and
solutions will present themselves. But for the time there are no definite
responses, the answers will have to come from your heart.

Feel with your heart.

The heart has no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, or skin -- no physical sensors
to
discr! iminate the ugly, loud, pungent, bitter, or prickly. It doesn't
know how to count. It doesn't recognize time or space. It has a world of
its own -- a sensitivity to the rhythm of the universe. It has its own
language of values, emotions, and primal synchronicity. It is oblivious
to logic.

Take time to listen to your heart. When the answers do not come to you in
words, when solutions do not appear to you in the physical world, go
inside
you and listen to your heart. Feel with your heart. Then you'll know. And
suddenly life will make sense.

[JOYnet] GOD ME

2002-10-03 Thread Biji Thomas

GOD ME

A young man was at the end of his rope, seeing no way out, he dropped to
his
knees in prayer:
Lord, I can't go on he said. I have too heavy a cross to bear.

The Lord replied, My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your
cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross
you wish.

The man was filled with relief and said, Thank you Lord, and he did as
he was told.
Upon entering the other room, he saw many crosses; some so large the tops
were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far
wall. I'd like that one, Lord, he whispered. The Lord replied, My son,
that is the cross you just brought in.

When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see
what
other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more fortunate
than you imagined.

YOUR CROSS
Whatever your cross
Whatever your pain
There will always be sunshineAfter the rain

Perhaps you may stumble
Perhaps even fall
But God's always there
To help you through it all

Perspectives

One day a father and his rich family took his young son on a trip to the
country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be.
They  spent a day and a night in the farm of a very poor family.  When
they got back from their trip the father asked his son, How was the
trip?

Very good, Dad!

Did you see how poor people can be? the father asked.

Yeah!  And what did you learn?

The son answered, I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden, they have a
creek that has no end.  We have imported lamps in the garden, they have
the stars.  Our patio reaches to the front yard, they have a whole
horizon.

When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless.

His son added, Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are! Isn't it
true that it all depends on the way you look at things?  If ! you have
love, friends, family, health, good humor and a positive attitude toward
life, you've got everything!

You can't buy any of these things.  You can have all the material
possessions you can imagine, provisions for the future, etc., but if you
are poor of spirit, you have nothing!

[JOYnet] Playing A Violin With Three Strings

2002-09-21 Thread Biji Thomas

Playing A Violin With Three Strings   -   Jack Riemer

On Nov. 18, 1995, Itzhak Perlman, the violinist, came on stage to give a
concert at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City.

If you have ever been to a Perlman concert, you know that getting on
stage is no small achievement for him. He was stricken with polio as a
child, and so he has braces on both legs and walks with the aid of two
crutches. To see him walk across the stage one step at a time, painfully
and slowly, is an awesome sight.

He walks painfully, yet majestically, until he reaches his chair. Then he
sits down, slowly, puts his crutches on the floor, undoes the clasps on
his legs, tucks one foot back and extends the other foot forward. Then he
bends down and picks up the violin, puts it under his chin, nods to the
conductor
and proceeds to play.

By now, the audience is used to this ritual. They sit quietly while he
makes his way across the s! tage to his chair. Theyremain reverently
silent while he undoes the clasps on his legs. They wait until he is
ready to play.

But this time, something went wrong. Just as he finished the first few
bars, one of the strings on his violin broke. Youcould hear it snap - it
went off like gunfire across the room. There was no mistaking what that
sound meant. There was no mistaking what he had to do.

We figured that he would have to get up, put on the clasps again, pick up
the crutches and limp his way off stage - to either find another violin
or else find another string for this one.  But he didn't. Instead, he
waited a moment, closed his eyes and then signaled the conductor to begin
again.

The orchestra began, and he played from where he had left off. And he
played with such passion and such power and such purity as they had never
heard before.

Of course, anyone knows that it is impossible to play a symphonic work
with just three strings. I know th! at, and you know that, but that night
Itzhak Perlman refused to know that.

You could see him modulating, changing, re-composing the piece in his
head. At one point, it sounded like he was de-tuning the strings to get
new sounds from them that they had never made before.

When he finished, there was an awesome silence in the room. And then
people rose and cheered. There was an extraordinary outburst of applause
from every corner of the auditorium. We were all on our feet, screaming
and cheering, doing everything we could to show how much we appreciated
what he had done.

He smiled, wiped the sweat from this brow, raised his bow to quiet us,
and then he said - not boastfully, but in a quiet, pensive, reverent tone
- You know, sometimes it is the artist's task to find out how much music
you can still make with what you have left.

What a powerful line that is. It has stayed in my mind ever since I heard
it. And who knows? Perhaps that is the definitio! n of life - not just
for artists but for all of us.

Here is a man who has prepared all his life to make music on a violin of
four strings, who, all of a sudden, in the middle of a concert, finds
himself with only three strings; so he makes music with three strings,
and
the music he made that night with just three strings was more beautiful,
more sacred, more memorable, than any that he had ever made before, when
he had four strings.

So, perhaps our task in this shaky, fast-changing, bewildering world in
which we live is to make music, at first with all that we have, and then,
when that is no longer possible, to make music with what we have left.

[JOYnet] Thank the Lord

2002-09-20 Thread Biji Thomas

Dear all in Jesus Christ, Thanks Shobith for the sharing.  Reading ur
mail I remembered the incident that took place nearly one and a half
years back.. I had been to a picnic to Kelva beach near Palghar alongwith
my church youth group.  When we were playing in the sea water, suddenly
my golden ring slipped off my finger and fell into the water. It was
nearly 1 ft deep where i was standing.  Immediately i searched the place
where it fell but couldn't find it.  I was shocked not nearly
understanding what to do. I started crying and praying to Jesus to help
me find the ring back and that was a gift from my aunt.  Seeing my plight
all the youth boys started searching in that muddy water. After a search
of nearly half hour one of our youth his name is Donald found the ring. I
was glad to have my ring back i thanked the Lord immediately. Praise the
Lord!! Now whenever i see that ring i remember the incident and thank God
for giving it back to me. Yours in Jesus Christ,Biji ThomasMumbai

[JOYnet] Why Women Cry

2002-08-16 Thread Biji Thomas

 Good one.. ReadWhy Women Cry

Why are you crying, a young boy asked his Mom?

Because I'm a woman, she told him.

I don't understand, he said.

His Mom just hugged him and said,
And you never will, but that's O.K

Later the little boy asked his father,
Why does Mom seem to cry for no reason?.
All women cry for no reason, was all his Dad could say..

The little boy grew up and became a man,
still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God and when God got back to him, he asked
God, why do women cry so easily?

GOD answered..

When I made woman,
I decided she had to be special.
I made her shoulders
strong enough to carry
the weight of the world, yet,
made her arms gentle enough to give comfort...

I gave her the inner strength
to en! dure childbirth
and the rejection
that many times will come
even from her own children.

I gave her a hardness
that allows her
to keep going and take care
of her family and friends,
even when everyone else gives up, through sickness and fatigue without
complaining

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all
circumstances. Even when her child has hurt her badly

She has the very special power to make a child's boo-boo feel better and
to quell a teenager's anxieties and fears

I gave her strength to care for her husband, despite faults
and I fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart

I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but
sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him
unfalteringly

For all of this hard work,
I also gave her a tear to shed.
It is hers to use
whenever needed! and !
it is her only weakness
When you see her cry,
tell her how much you love her, and all she does for everyone, and even
though
she may still cry, you will have made her heart feel good.
She is special!
Please send this to women you know, and those with mothers,
sisters, and special women in their lives.
But, also send this to men so they will understand about what a
wonderful thing a woman is.
Each day is a mountain that must be climbed; with courage each step
gets easier.

Love ur Mother Always

and keep her Smiling

[JOYnet] Jesus the new Moses

2002-08-01 Thread Biji Thomas

Dear friends,

I would like to add a few words to what our friend Lisa has said abt
Moses .

God's primary motive in liberating the Israelities from the bondages of
Egypt was to establish a covenant with them by which He will be their God
and they would be His people. And we find all the fulfilment of Exodus
Event (journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the promise land, the Land
of Cannan) in the life of Jesus and the Church which is the new Israel.

Jesus is the new Moses, the true Liberator, Saviour and the Architect and
Mediator of the New Covenant. He ratified this new covenant by outpouring
his own blood and established eternal relation between God and men. He
gave the commandment of love not only to Israel, but also the the whole
world. The last plague in Egypt was the death of the first-born. Jesus is
the first born whose death saved the life of many.

In Egypt, before Passover people killed the Pascal lamb, ate its flesh
and sprinkled its blood on the door steps. Jesus is the new Pascal Lamp
whose flesh and blood constitutes the life giving banquet, whose
sacrifice gives new life to all. During the journey through desert, the
Lord gave His people manna from heaven and water from the rock. Jesus is
the new manna, the living bread that came down from heaven. Those who ate
manna dies, but those who eat from Jesu's flesh and live forever. Jesus
is the new rock, the source of living water that quenches the thirst of
man.

Exodus event has great relevance in today's world. The LORD is the God of
liberation, who liberates us from all bondages – spiritual, material,
social and political. Salvation is completed only when man is liberated
in all these spheres.

Yours in Jesus Christ

[JOYnet] Stress Management

2002-07-22 Thread Biji Thomas

Dear JY's

Read this...

A lecturer was giving a lecture to his student on stress management.
He raises a glass of water and asks the audience How heavy do you think
this glass of water is? It depends on how long you hold it.

If I hold it for a minute, it is Ok.
If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance.
It is the exact same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it
becomes
If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be
able to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier.

What you have to do is to put the glass down, rest for a while before
holding it up again.
We have to put down the burden periodically, so that we can be refreshed
and are able to carry on. When you return home from work, put the burden
of work down. Don't carry it into your home. You can pick it up tomorrow.

So Rest and Relax.

Dear friends place all your burdens with Jesus and see how relaxed you
will feel.

[JOYnet] The Knowledge Contained in Bible

2002-07-08 Thread Biji Thomas

Hi friends!!

This has been sent to me by one of my friend. Please read it

There are passages in the Bible that tell of certain principles that were
not widely accepted until hundreds or even thousands of years after the
Bible had been written. Some could only be proven recently with our
advanced scientific tools. Human knowledge and the Bible have conflicted at
various points in recorded history, but each time when the truth was finally
proven, the Bible was shown to be correct and man to be in error. Here are
some examples:

The Bibles says that the universe was created:

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
written 1400 b.c.

Until the mid 20th century, many scientists believed in the Steady State
theory. This theory suggests that the universe has always existed.
Obviously, this belief stood in stark contrast to God's Word which says the
universe was created at a definite time in the past. New discoveries in
astronomy and astrophysics then forced the scientific world to change their
beliefs. Today, virtually all scientists accept the Big Bang theory which
says the entire universe came into existence at a particular point in time
when a tremendously large mass of matter exploded which formed all of the
galaxies, stars and planets that are seen today. The Law of Entropy says
that systems go from a state of high energy to low energy and from order to
disorder. All systems, including our universe, disintegrate over time as
they decay to a lower order of available energy and organization. All
scientific observations confirm that everything continues to move towards a
greater state of decay and disorder. Because the energy that is available
is being used up and there is no source of new energy (Law of Conservation),
the universe could not have always existed, it must have begun at a definite
point in the past. If the universe has always existed, there would be no
energy left and it would be uniform in temperature, suffering what is known
as heat death. Entropy shows us that the universe must have been created
and all scientific observations confirm that everything continues to decay,
just like Isaiah 51:6 says, The heavens will vanish like smoke and the earth
will wear out like a garment.

The Bible says that humans were formed from dust:

The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being. Genesis
2:7 written 1400 b.c.

By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the
ground since from it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will
return.  Genesis 3:19  written 1400 b.c.

Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again?
Job 10:9 written 1900 b.c.

He knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:14
written 1000 b.c.

All go to the same place. All come from dust and to dust all return.
Ecclesiastes 3:20 900 b.c.

For many years, scientists scoffed at the notion that these verses could be
accurate. Could dust actually be responsible for constructing the complex
elements and molecules that make up a human being? After a century of
scientific examination of the human body's components, scientists have
discovered that the ground contains every element that is found in the human
body. NASA's Ames Research Center also came to the same conclusion. Their
research confirmed that every element in the human body can be found within
the soil.

The Bible says plants and animals reproduce according to their kinds:

Then God said, Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and
trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their
various kinds. And God saw that it was good. The land produced
vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing
fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. Genesis 1:11-12 written
1400 b.c.

So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving
thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged
bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:21
written 1400 b.c.

And God said, Let the land produce living creatures according to their
kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals,
each according to its kind. And it was so. God made the wild animals
according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all
the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God
saw that it was good. Genesis 1:24-25 written 1400 b.c.

They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock
according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground
according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with
wings.
Genesis 7:14 written 1400 b.c.

Once again, the Bible and conventional wisdom find themselves at

[JOYnet] 24 Things to always remember

2002-06-29 Thread Biji Thomas

24 Things To Always Remember

Your presence is a present to the world.
You are unique and one of a kind.
Your life can be what you want it to be.
Take the days just one at a time.

Count your blessings, not your troubles.
You will make it through whatever comes along.
Within you are so many answers.
Understand, have courage, be strong.

Do not put limits on yourself.
So many dreams are waiting to be realised.
Decisions are too important to leave to chance.
Reach for your peak, your goal and you prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying.
The longer one carries a problem the heavier it gets.
Do not take things too seriously.
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way.
Remember that a lot . goes forever.
Remember that friendship is a wise investment.
Life's treasure are people together.

Realise that it is never too late.
Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.
Have hearth and hope and happiness.
Take the time to wish upon a start.

AND DO NOT EVER FORGET ..
FOR EVEN A DAY
HOW VERY SPECIAL YOU ARE !

Re: [JOYnet] Pray for Priests

2002-05-14 Thread Biji Thomas

Dear Friends,

Yes we should pray for the priests. It is our prayers that gives them strength
in their works. I would like to share something with my dear
joynetters.when i was studying for my first holy communion, Sr. Maggie who
taught us used to say that we should always pray for our Pope, Bishops,
Priests and Sisters and believe me knowinlgy or unknowingly i used to include
them in prayers after my communion till today. In my childhood days i
never knew much importance of this pray for the Priests.. but now i know the
importance of it.. how much valuable is this one small prayer for them. This
is a small prayer for priests from my prayer book which i would like to share
:

Keep them, I pray Thee, dearest Lord,
Keep them, for they are Thine -
Thy priest whose lives burn out before
Thy consecrated shrine.
Keep them for they are in the world
Though from the world apart,
When earthly pleasures tempt, allure -
Shelter them in Thy heart.
Keep them, confort them in hours
Of loneliness and pain
When all their life of sacrifice
For souls seem but in vain.
Keep them, and O remember Lord
They have no one but Thee
Yet they have only human hearts,
With human frailty.
Keep them spotless as the Host,
That daily, they caress -
Their every though and word and deed,
Deign, dearest Lord, to bless.
