You need to mark it resolved and if that fails you can do juju resolved
 designate/0 --no-retry

Once its hooks have cleared out it will disappear.

Re: juju application stuck, cannot remove/scale out

2017-08-07 Thread Patrizio Bassi
Hi Alex,

that worked because i had designate in a lxd container, so it was fully
removed.
It's not feasable when you use bare metal or a single vm with several
applications: removing a hanged unit would result in several app servive
destruction

Re: juju application stuck, cannot remove/scale out

2017-08-04 Thread Alex Kavanagh
Hi Patrizio

Sorry you're hitting a charm problem with designate. Has the problem
re-occurred with a remove-machine and add-unit? I'm doing quite a lot of
work on the designate charm for the next release, and so would be
interested if this is a problem we've already fixed (e.g. you could try
juju deploy cs:~openstack-charmers-next/designate-36) but there's still
some work going on with it.

Thanks
Alex

Yeah but --no-retry will mean the hook wont re-execute and will set itself
back to a happy state, even if that doesn't reflect reality.

Re: juju application stuck, cannot remove/scale out

2017-08-04 Thread Alex Kavanagh
Hi Patrizio

What's the output of "juju debug-log -i unit-designate -n 1000" ?

The last few lines should indicate why designate crashed on the
update-status hook.

To force remove the unit use:

juju remove-machine --force

where n is the machine number from juju status designate

Hope that helps
Alex.
