[JPP-Devel] Problem with Open Data Store Layer (PostGIS)
Hi, in OJ 20130318 rev.3364 I have a problem with Open Data Store Layer: 1. Add a new layer and draw geometries. 2. Save Dataset As... Format PostGIS Table 3. Try to open the new table with Open... Data Store Layer You can not see the new table in the Dataset-ComboBox. Maybe a refresh-button would help? Regards Uwe -- Everyone hates slow websites. So do we. [JPP-Devel] Layer statistics and geometry types
Hi, Sometimes it would be useful to get a fast statistics about how many features on the layer belong to each geometry type. I know that by counting feature statistics I get the geometry type written into type field but often it would be enough to see for example if the layer holds only simple polygons or if it is a mixture of polygons and multipolygons. -Jukka Rahkonen- -- Everyone hates slow websites. Re: [JPP-Devel] convert desktop application to web
Hello michael, yes i totaly agree with, i've already worked with deegree and mapserver. as u mentioned there's are limited when it comes to editing and processing , that's why i choose a desktop application to do that. my use case is to have the capability to connect to this application via internet with login and password so as to show, manipulate and query data. but i guess it's not possible. about the link you give me, i didn't get the architecture of this application, is it an open jump application that works with openstreep map ? . -- *Asma OUQALLI* Élève ingénieur : 3ème Sciences d'Information Géographique (SIG). Re: [JPP-Devel] convert desktop application to web
Hi, We have Java Web Start applications which are based on OpenJUMP and uDig. They are made so that they cannot be started offline, and the main class that is launched first is asking for authentication. So it is for sure possible but not very simple to build such applications. For example for authentication you should write your own authentication client which is discussing with your server and only if the credentials are OK it will allow OpenJUMP to launch. There is not much architecture behind the link that Michaël sent. Link points to a jnlp file that is downloaded first. It is a text file and you will find it from you downloads, have a look at it. It is listing all the jar files and possibly some other resources which will be downloaded next by JWS system. Finally you have a whole Java program installed and running on your local computer. It will be easy to find some reading about Java Web Start. Begin for example from http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/deployment/webstart/index.html -Jukka Rahkonen- Asma ouqalli wrote: Hello michael, yes i totaly agree with, i've already worked with deegree and mapserver. as u mentioned there's are limited when it comes to editing and processing , that's why i choose a desktop application to do that. my use case is to have the capability to connect to this application via internet with login and password so as to show, manipulate and query data. but i guess it's not possible. about the link you give me, i didn't get the architecture of this application, is it an open jump application that works with openstreep map ? . -- *Asma OUQALLI* Élève ingénieur : 3ème Sciences d'Information Géographique (SIG). [JPP-Devel] [ jump-pilot-Bugs-3607970 ] Generalization will remove full polygons for high tolerance
Bugs item #3607970, was opened at 2013-03-13 21:12 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by bigrodent You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=679906aid=3607970group_id=118054 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: General / Other Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Sean (bigrodent) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Generalization will remove full polygons for high tolerance Initial Comment: Take for instance a US Zip and set it to .01 or even as low as .0001 and you will end up with less polygons than the original file. You will actually remove full zip codes. As you turn the tolerance down they gradually appear back. Upon physical inspection of the shapefile it is clear that it is the smallest zips in the file that get stripped first. Other opensource tools have this issue as well. -- Comment By: Sean (bigrodent) Date: 2013-03-19 11:44 Message: Sorry if this shows as multiple posts... the file uploads keep removing my comments... The simplification keeps the correct number of polygons now after simplify and union. I have attached 3 files that show an issue. In a multipolygon case, the smaller polygon is getting assigned to a larger nearby polygon when the smaller polygon falls within the bounds of that other polygon. 3 files attached. Original zip, simplified, simplified unioned. 60643 has two polys, the smaller disappears but then gets reassigned the poly from 60827 and 60827 also keeps its duplicate polygon as well. So you will see a hole where the smaller poly disappeared and now you have two overlapping identical polys for 2 different zips. -- Comment By: michael michaud (michaudm) Date: 2013-03-17 02:51 Message: Should be mostly fixed in r3349 (with a peformance penalty of nearly 50%). Please try it so I can close the ticket. -- Comment By: michael michaud (michaudm) Date: 2013-03-16 13:59 Message: Hi, I found another problem in the attribute tranfer. My dataset : 36673 polygons 36572 simplified polygons only (101 polygon missing) 593 polygons have inherited attributes from a feature which is not the source polygon I'm on the way to find a solution for both problem. It will not be 100% robust but should solve most problems. stay tuned Michaël -- Comment By: Sean (bigrodent) Date: 2013-03-14 09:09 Message: One item I forgot to mention is that other tools that have had issues similar in nature have suggested that it occurs when the ring size is less than the tolerance and the entire poly gets wiped rather than ignored. -- Comment By: Sean (bigrodent) Date: 2013-03-14 09:06 Message: Just to add my detailed testing of simplifying a 500Mb zip layer. Of those 3663 were invalid when Simplify was used, and 24 when SimplifyPreserveTopology was used. However, for the latter also the original features had topology errors and SimplifyPreserveTopology seems to be reliable. -- Comment By: michael michaud (michaudm) Date: 2013-03-14 05:30 Message: Thanks for the tests Jukka, Simplify : did you check that you had 84031 polygons in the result. Other opensource tools have this issue as well. -- Comment By: Sean (bigrodent) Date: 2013-03-19 14:22 Message: Added small set of zips as file. Just simplify as .001 tolerance and you should see the problem. Thanks -- Comment By: michael michaud (michaudm) Date: 2013-03-19 13:48 Message: Hi, Quite strange ! It would help if you could send the polygons involved in your example, a few polygons around and the tolerance distance you used. Thanks, Michaël -- Comment By: Sean (bigrodent) Date: 2013-03-19 11:44 Message: Sorry if this shows as multiple posts... the file uploads keep removing my comments... Re: [JPP-Devel] Problem with Open Data Store Layer (PostGIS)
Right, Now that I know I'm not the only one annoyed by this, I write a Feature Request, thanks :-) Michaël Regards Uwe -- Everyone hates slow websites. So do we. Then i am going through the tutorial steps. At least thats the plan. The part on CSV file import is updated already. For the PostGIS part, well, I should install PostGIS at some point... I hope. Installing PostGIS has become quite easy over time. Just an option to check when you install PostgreSQL I mean on windows. Don't know how it runs on mac. Michaël cheers, stefan Michaël peppe 2013/3/18 Michaël Michaud michael.mich...@free.fr mailto:michael.mich...@free.fr Hi Peppe, It make sense what you say: since user is working on attribute view, the action cancel should be to delete only attributes, even selecting the entire raw (or multiples raws). On the other hand working on attribute view is a frequent action especially on multiple selection and, on my personal opinion and small experience, the attribute panel should be implemented with more tools in the future (add querries, save selected to a new layer, save selected to text file, attribute calculator, etc) as a small spreadsheet. I use a lot attribute view to delete geometry. But, in this case, I vote OK for your proposal. I am in flavor to limit this function using a button. And use regular cancel keyboard for attributes. The only thing that I would like to save is that both function (delete geometry by cancel - delete all attribute of a geometry by a button) must be undoable even with Attribute View Panel opened. regards and thanks Yes, cancel button, other buttons, undoable capability : all make sense to me. Undoable seems already implemented though. For additional buttons/capabilities, feel free to add FR. Michaël Peppe 2013/3/18 Michaël Michaud michael.mich...@free.fr mailto:michael.mich...@free.fr Hi, You can no more delete a feature from Attribute table. This is quite annoying. On the other hand, deleting from Attribute table was quite unsafe as you did not know if you will delete features selected in the layerview or rows selected in the attribute panel (if different)*. * answer is features in the layer view Not sure what would be the best way to manage it. My proposition would be : Features selected on view : make the view active if you want to delete them Rows selected in the attribute panel : add a button to delete them (the button would be proper to attribute panel, so there would be less chance to be confused than with delete key).
