When loading files with the Sextante Option you will have a dot icon in the layer view, while the normal file option will result in a square icon in front of the layer name. thanks for asking, becasuse it shows some inconsistencies. That's great because of the possibility to set the transparency of raster-layers (and of course because of the usage for sextante-plugin which offers a lot of supplemental functionality).
