[kde] when the bug is between the keyboard and the chair...

2014-10-19 Thread Maxime Haselbauer
I have a canon MG5300 printer
I always worked more or less good
Since 4.13.3 it is not working anymore

I won't report a bug because I am sure there will be , as usual, a reptile that
will tell me it is not our fault, we are perfect, making perfect code, this
is due to the driver
Just wanted to point out this aspect of KDE mentality ;)

Can you be a bit more specific?
Is it only KDE applications that can no longer print?

Printing is primarily a system service, the applications usually only generate
something like PDF and send that to the spooler, e.g the system's CUPS
service.

So in order to determine where things broke it would be good to check if a
non-Qt application, e.g. Firefox, can still print as expected.

Cheers.
Kevin

The only point you've made says more about your mentality - especially
given that one of the KDE developers you describe as a reptile has just
offered you assistance - I was going to earlier, but don't like to
encourage poisonous posts for assistance.

Even if you truly believe you'll get no help and your bug report will be
dismissed, best to act like KDE does care. At least then, if you're
proven right, you can tell yourself you *did try* and do the right thing.

Self-fulfilling prophesies don't have to be negative - it's your choice.

Kind regards
