Without more information we can't help you :)
Perhaps it's because you didn't start your computer ?:)
Perhaps it's because you don't have akonadi installed in your computer :)

it's very important to add more information as:
- which is the version ?
- What is the error in console when you use akonadictl start
- what is the error in log file
- etc.

So I think when you create a bug report you need to add more info.

[kmymoney] [Bug 366229] New: Online Update Quotes does not work since last Kmymoney git snapshot

2016-07-28 Thread Robby Engelmann via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366229

Bug ID: 366229
Summary: Online Update Quotes does not work since last Kmymoney
git snapshot
   Product: kmymoney
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: robby.engelm...@igfs-ev.de

The dialog listing all quotes which should be updates is shown. The update
stucks on first quote and does not even time-out.
With old KDE4-based Kmymoney it works. Thus, it is not the the web source which
is down.

Reproducible: Always

Experienced the same behavior on KDE Neon 5.7.2. This one is kind of
annoying/tricky, if you lock the widgets this won't happen, but you also can't
add/remove/resize/move them either since doing so affects the whole desktop not
the panel.

I get no slow downs while resizing in Plasma 5.7.2. Although some widgets
(analog clock, trash) their width (x) size is proportional to their hight (y),
which imo seems ok.

Eg, i can place the calculator widget on the desktop and resize it by dragging
the handle all the way to the right and the icon width (x) wont change. No
numbers will be shown only the operations buttons. As soon as i increase (y)
the numbers and extra buttons appear.

[plasmashell] [Bug 366227] New: System Settings under Display and Monitor does not scale viewport

2016-07-28 Thread Michael Butash via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366227

Bug ID: 366227
Summary: System Settings under Display and Monitor does not
scale viewport
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.7.2
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Multi-screen support
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: mich...@butash.net
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org

When I access Display and Monitor from System Settings with 3x 48" 4k TV's, a
generally small window, the monitor representation is far too huge for the
viewport used to rearrange the displays. They need to scale with the dpi to
represent a usable configuration. I'll attach an image of what I mean, it's
just a UI bug for abnormal sized displays vs. dpi, but makes reordering the
displays a gigantic pain, requiring me to open the settings window to like
3500x1200 to reorder things comfortably.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install multiple 4k tv (3x used in test bed)
2. Open "System Settings", navigating to "Display and Monitors"
3. Observe abnormally giant representation of monitors taking up 90% of the
viewport, making it impossible to reorder displays without expanding the
settings window to gigantic proportions.

Actual Results:
It requires resizing of the window to almost a full display width of 3500
pixels + to manage moving displays comfortably vs. the display scaling itself
according to the viewport and dpi.

Expected Results:
Smaller representations of 3x monitors scaled into the viewport to reorder them
comfortably within the given pixel space available. Monitors x Quantity Wide
should always equal less than the viewport, scaled to the space available, or
resize itself appropriately for the user to manage this.

This is more dpi optimization needed with changing usages. I am using 3x 48"
hdtv's as my monitors now, something of a corner case, but I'd imagine this
exacerbated with current generation 4k displays in 24-34" desktop displays
shipping @ 4k too.

[plasmashell] [Bug 359220] Widgets can't be moved or resized and right-side menu isn't shown regardless of widgets being locked or unlocked

I need to add that some widgets do not fallow the new behavior fully.

Eg, for the analog clock, calculator widget you do need to long press to be
able to move it from where you initially placed it. In the other hand the color
picker, cpu load monitor widget, you can move it around without long press,
although to resize them you need to.
If there is a bug it would be a per widget bug the way i see it.

[systemsettings] [Bug 366225] New: Audio balance is not remembered between system restarts

2016-07-28 Thread Reuben via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366225

Bug ID: 366225
Summary: Audio balance is not remembered between system
restarts
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.6.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_phonon
  Assignee: sit...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@flavor8.com

My desk is offcenter between the left and right speakers (which are on my wall)
and therefore I adjust audio balance so that I can hear both speakers.

The only way I've found to do this in KDE is with the kmix applet; it appears
to have been removed elsewhere, which is unfortunately, since it's readily
available in both gnome and unity.

Like gnome and unity however, the audio balance is not persisted. As soon as I
reboot the system, the audio balance is reset, and I have to make the change
right after logging in.

Reproducible: Always

Still present on KDE Neon 5.7.2, Frameworks 5.24.0.

I asked a question about this bug in the forum a couple of days ego.

https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=309=135028

"Locking Widgets" is a workaround of sorts to this one.

[plasmashell] [Bug 366224] New: chromium-browser not displayed in application launcher, despite /usr/share/applications desktop entry

2016-07-28 Thread Reuben via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366224

Bug ID: 366224
Summary: chromium-browser not displayed in application
launcher, despite /usr/share/applications desktop
entry
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.6.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Launcher (Kickoff)
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk

I have three .desktop entries in /usr/share/applications for browsers:

> ls -al /usr/share/applications/chromium-browser.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12559 Jun 2 20:39
/usr/share/applications/chromium-browser.desktop
> ls -al /usr/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8445 Jul 18 21:23
/usr/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop
> ls -al /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9177 Jun 6 07:37
/usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop

Firefox and Chrome appear perfectly well in the application menu. Chromium does
not, and cannot be searched for; I can only launch it from the terminal.

It shows up in gnome and unity's menus.

[plasmashell] [Bug 364886] Desktop components either grossly oversized or undersized when started with multiple monitors connected

2016-07-28 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364886

Problem disappears if fonts are forced to 142 DPI in "kcmshell5 fonts", so the
problem seems to be in DPI detection.

xrandr outputs correct information on screen sizes in millimeters, xdpyinfo is
way off:

screen #0:
  dimensions:6016x1152 pixels (1068x203 millimeters)
  resolution:143x144 dots per inch

The actual DPI i'm forcing is 142, so it's not that far off from the detected
one, but somehow it still gets all mangled if not forced to a DPI setting.

1) Switch mouse to right handed mode
2) Navigate to http://awwapp.com
3) Draw using pen. It works
4) Switch mouse to left handed mode
5) Navigate to http://awwapp.com
6) Attempt to draw using pen. Context menu pops up

Where is the control panel for the wacom tablet? (Note that it is erroneously
detected as a joystick, if that's relevant.)

It works perfectly in gnome & unity.

[KScreen] [Bug 366067] Impartial kscreen config for setup leads to partially configured desktop on hitting 'Apply'

2016-07-28 Thread jamese via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366067

I should also point out that while the Plasma desktop is munged with the DP
cable plugged in the following can happen:

- Mouse cursor works
- I can switch to run level 1 with Ctrl+Alt+1
- When I switch to run level 1, my two DP screens come up perfectly, DP1-1
followed by DP1-2 a second later.
- I can't get a "kscreen-console bug" report on run level 1 even with "export
DISPLAY=:0" before.

Switching back with Ctrl+Alt+7 returns me to the munged desktop which can now
be rescued by plugging in an HDMI cable

2016-07-28 Thread jamese via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366067

Here's some further debugging on this one.

Config "ae115bc4aa5f4ce701f72fc9e25f01cb" is the MST setup with Laptop Screen +
DP1-1 (master) and DP1-2 (slave) - I chmod'd this to 0400 so it couldn't be
written by any user. It still has the width/height in it from the last working
setup.
Config "1818bd03d6fa05c34acde90101a5d242" is the Laptop with HDMI plugged in.

I plugged in DP cable and the bug reproduces. I've got kcmshell5 kcm_kscreen
running and will attach output although nothing appears in the output when I
activate the DP setup.
I unplug the DP cable and no change to the desktop occurs. Laptop screen is
still split in half & external DP screens are not active at all.
I then switch inputs on DP1-2 to HDMI and plug in the HDMI cable, this brings
the desktop back with HDMI output enabled and visible along with Laptop Screen.
But:

* HDMI (HDMI2 in kscreen) says "No available resolutions" and the display is
slightly fuzzy. It also appears to be at a lower bit depth
* After some repositioning of the HDMI screen and hitting apply, the resolution
slider appears with 1920x1080 enabled and the bit depth / fuzziness issues
disappear.

I then unplug the HDMI cable to see if I can get DP displays back and the
Laptop screen goes black then comes back and freezes although the mouse cursor
works. Can't do anything here. Plugging the DP cable in does not bring the
desktop back, nothing in kcmshell output. Can't run kscreen-bug here as only
mouse works.
Plugging the HDMI cable back in re-activates the desktop!

Other weirdness that occurs here:
- is when I plug the HDMI cable in, all the windows either from Gtk (Shutter)
or KDE apps (e.g kate) disappear under the panel when maximised, even though
the panel has "Always Visible" set.
This is a common problem for me at the moment with KDE multi-screen setup.
- when I initally plug in the DP screens they come up greyed out, showing the
wrong aspect ratio although the slider says 1920x1080. If I fiddle with the
slider the greyed out screens resize correctly.

Configs and outputs will be attached.

Not sure why but I wasn't emailed for this. Strange. Anyway, I'll go ahead and
close this bug - whatever glitch I was experiencing, I wasn't able to reproduce
it for long after I wrote the report, and it had stopped happening by the time
I tried capturing it with OBS.

I don't remember exactly, but I do remember that it wasn't happening with
XRender, but I don't know why I was referring to GLX as "working" but "OpenGL"
as not working. Maybe I meant EGL? Well, regardless, it's back to normal now.

[kate] [Bug 366221] New: Kate for OS X crash when typing a special character

2016-07-28 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366221

Bug ID: 366221
Summary: Kate for OS X crash when typing a special character
   Product: kate
   Version: unspecified
Platform: Mac OS X Disk Images
   URL: http://pastebin.com/CZ1HnjSX
OS: OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: notengobatt...@gmail.com

Kate on OS X crash while typing a special character, specifically the '¡'
character (I have not found others, '¿', for example, works great). This does
not happen always, it only happens when the line is not empty.

More specifically, this does not happens on empty lines and in lines filled
with spaces and/or tabs. In such cases, Kate does not crash but also does not
writes the '¡' symbol.

I can copy the symbol from another source and paste it in Kate and the symbol
is pasted successfully. If you are using the English Macintosh keyboard on OS
X, you can get the symbol by pressing ⌥1.

The version of Kate is Version 16.07.70 (does not appears in the bug report
selector).

Pastebin from Apple Bug Reporter: http://pastebin.com/CZ1HnjSX

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any file on Kate (even a "New file").
2. Type some text or find a non-empty line.
3. Press ⌥1 in that line.

Actual Results:
Kate crash and the Apple Bug Reporter shows asking for report problems with
Kate to Apple.
If Kate does not crash, the symbol is not wrote to the text.

Expected Results:
The '¡' symbol should be wrote to the text when pressing ⌥1.

I began noticing this after upgrading to unstable neon this weekend from ubuntu
16.04 stock, where I'm getting ghost windows when removing them. I am also
seeing translucency not restoring to non-translucent on active windows at
times. Both cases, I usually hot-key restart compositing, and it behaves again
for a few hours. I use this as well with dimming, going to try without dimming
to see if some combination of both.

Posting support info as well if it helps.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225

@Simone Gaiarin, I deleted anything ^plasma in .config and .cache, that seemed
mostly sufficient to reboot into neon after the ppa upgrade. I wanted to start
it clean as possible here, seemed mostly to do that. I had to re-setup the
displays, desktop stuff in general in settings again. Color themes persisted
oddly, but that might be more symlinked elsewhere.

My issues are same as @Frans Leerink desktop image and others, task bar won't
follow what it is set to. This seems a more nested problem as windows have a
hard time figuring out where to go back to at times, so other features can't
figure out which display is which either..

Tracked in Debian: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=832795

I can confirm that handling mailto: links are broken.

As of one of the last updates, using mailto: links with KMail is broken.
mailto: URIs passed by any web browser (tested with Firefox and
Konqueror) are not properly unescaped, and URI entities like %0A end up
in the mail. Firefox even quotes colons in the subject and these also
end up escaped in the subject line (e.g. when clicking the reply link in
the Debian BTS).

Hi Philippe,

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm afraid I don't have time to fix the full bug,
and I think whoever updates syswrap-linux.c will want to have a working version
of the bug to experiment with, so this is a good place for me to pass it off to
the developers.

FWIW I tried to create a minimal test case but it didn't work; valgrind caught
the buffer overflow:

==19707== Invalid write of size 4
==19707==at 0x510F183: sync_ptr1.isra.7 (pcm_hw.c:134)
==19707==by 0x51109CB: sync_ptr (pcm_hw.c:146)

I'm attaching the archive with minimal test case included.

Good luck,

Bug ID: 366219
Summary: Setting up internal mysql database fails
   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.0.0
  Platform: Other
OS: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Database-Setup
  Assignee: digikam-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: freisi...@gmail.com

Details

While trying to setup digiKam with internal mysql database from scratch (no
migration), I got the following error:
digikam.databaseserver: Database initializer: "mysql_install_db"
("--datadir=/home/simon/Programme/AppDaten/digikam5/.mysql.digikam/db_data")
digikam.databaseserver: "WARNING: Could not write to config file
/usr/my.cnf: Permission denied\n\nFATAL ERROR: Could not chown directory
/home/simon/Programme/AppDaten/digikam5/.mysql.digikam/db_data\n"
digikam.databaseserver: "Could not start database initializer.\nExecutable:
mysql_install_db\nArguments:
--datadir=/home/simon/Programme/AppDaten/digikam5/.mysql.digikam/db_data\nProcess
error: Unknown error"
digikam.databaseserver: Cannot start internal database server

I investigated the error in databaseserver.cpp/h. I found the error in the
arguments to mysql_install_db which missed a "--defaults-file" argument.
However new error turned up after. The error/debug messages were not conclusive
and the consistet more or less of one very long function riddled with return
statements. So I refactored databaseserver.cpp.

I am no c++ dev, so I did quite a bit of learning while writing the code.
Therefore the result is certainly not perfect. But it runs without error, gives
more information on errors and is in my opinion generally cleaner and more
readable.

I will attach patches, but the one for the cpp file is more or less useless, as
almost everything is marked as change due to the restructuring.

More detailed information can be derived from my github repository, i.e. the
commit messages in the tree intdb_init-redone
(https://github.com/imsodin/digiKam/commits/intdb_init-redone). Most of the
changes happened in "Split startMYSQLDatabaseProcess into smaller functions".
The branch is still compatible with master (at the time of writing), I will try
to keep an up-to-date version with master in the branch
"intdb_init-redone-current".
Please test it and I hope you have time to look over the code as well. Any
feedback is appreciated.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start digiKam from scratch (no digikamrc, no database, no configs)
2. choose internal mysql database

Actual Results:
fails to initialise database (see error in Details)

Expected Results:
Initialise new database (which works with the patch)

Swati,

It's fully reproducible under Linux and OSX. The new database is not fully
available to work after changes.

Sound like a call or a sequence is missing in setup dialog to close current
database and re-init properly the database accordingly with new backend
selected in config.

[valgrind] [Bug 366035] valgrind misses buffer overflow, segfaults in malloc in localtime

> from certain ALSA ioctls". Thank you,
Yes, it would be nice to continue the investigation, as the ioctl hypothesis is
not yet
confirmed.
So, the following would be useful:
Discover which ioctl are done by snd_pcm_readi
One way is to put a breakpoint on the line calling this function, and the
next line.
When the first breapoint is encountered, add a breakpoint on the ioctl
syscall.
Each time the ioctl breapoint triggers, write down the (symbolic) ioctl
request
(I guess the symbolic request will be seen in the source e.g. when doing GDB
up)

It is assumed that the ioctl done (or one of the ioctl done by this function)
is using
the buffer address as parameter. Would be nice to confirm that.

The remaining mystery is : if really an ioctrl is 'badly' described in
syswrap-linux.c,
then that should create a lot of errors in memcheck (use of undefined memory).

So, the ioctrl badly described hypothesis is still not (fully) understandable.

The alternative to find which ioctl is done is to read the library source file.

Thanks

What about the Open dialog(CTRL+O) ? In the "Filter:" picker, do you see the
raw mimetypes or the friendly names

Yeah, there is no reason why we shouldn't apply "just in case" the same fix to
the other strings, so I'm reoping this bug.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 366216] New: Dropping into folder popup on KUrlNavigator changes folder

2016-07-28 Thread A . Bikadorov via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366216

Bug ID: 366216
Summary: Dropping into folder popup on KUrlNavigator changes
folder
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: 5.24.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: fa...@kde.org
  Reporter: goto...@gmx.net
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org

It happens when dropping URLs on a folder in the popup opened by the ">" icons
in the URL navigator. The navigator emits the "urlsDropped" signal (correct)
but also changes the current URL to the dropped folder path (wrong).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find some usage of the KUrlNavigator (except Dolphin), e.g. the "open"
dialog in Kate
2. (Change the navigator mode from editable to navigate)
3. Drag some file with the mouse from the file view onto one of the ">" icons
in the navigator -> a popup with a list of all subfolders will be shown.
4. Drop the file onto one of the folders

Actual Results:
The current folder changes to the drop folder.

Expected Results:
Current folder should not change.

This has nothing to do whether dropping is implemented or if the QDropEvent is
accepted or not. I tried connecting the signal and accepting the event it but
the folder still changes.

(Background: I'm working on Krusader. The GIT version uses KUrlNavigators now,
I wanted to implement the URL dropping and found the bug this way.)

This does not happen in Dolphin. I guess because it uses the old KDE4 libs and
the old signal "urlsDropped(KUrl,QDropEvent*)".

[ark] [Bug 363719] Sidebar can not be resized even when the details are too long

2016-07-28 Thread Brendon Higgins via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363719

Hmm. I only ever see raw MIME types, not friendly names, for any file. (For
this specific case I can reproduce it with simply an empty .xlsx made in
LibreOffice.) Maybe something is busted in my install, settings, or the
packages I'm using (Debian testing/unstable).

Trying to edit the file type's description in File Associations doesn't seem to
stick for me, though it looks as if it ought to. If that description is what
becomes the type's friendly name used by Ark, that means Ark should format
nicely for arbitrary strings anyway...

I am in the "please free icons" group, and consider the option-less ordering a
serious bug:

Uniformity hide things, and irregular position offers a clue on where "is my
icon" without necessity to scan a matrix; I use the "out of alignment" as a
signal for position of icons and it make me operate on the desktop a lot
faster. Goes without mentioning that icons too often randomly bouncing by
themselves to a grid, destroying my carefully choosed position, is hard to be
considered a "feature". and anyway a feature i cannot deactivate is not a
feature, is a constriction.

I looked regularly for an update fixing the bug, and only now I founded where
to post my complain (rant). I am happy to learn that if it cannot be fixed, i
can go back to kde4.

[kdenlive] [Bug 366161] git master: title clip not editable, "edit clip" grayed out

2016-07-28 Thread Wegwerf via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366161

I have to admit that I would never expect "Clip Properties" to edit the title
... but then, you probably refer to the edit button inside the clip properties.
Now that's a hassle when working with projects with several title clips. What
about adding a "edit title clip", "edit color clip", and "edit image sequence
clip" to the context menu?

The strange thing is that sometimes Kdenlive interprets the double click as to
edit the title instead of to show the clip properties. I think we need to get a
more consistent UI experience here.

This problem appeared again in a different form. Sometimes after boot, the
external monitor is black without plasmoids, without the right click menu, but
the mouse cursor is visible. Moreover the panel that should be in this screen

Restarting plasma solves the problem.

It seems that the external monitor is not detected by plasma and kscreen.

2016-07-28 Thread Jean-Baptiste Mardelle via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366161

There is maybe some confusion between functions.
"Edit Clip" is supposed to open clips in external applications, like gimp for
images, audacity for audio.
"Clip Properties" displays the clip info but also allows you to change some
settings, like length, color, aspect ratio.

Currently, editing title clips is triggered by the "Clip Properties" option in
the context menu (as well as double click in bin).

Do you think it should be changed?

[plasmashell] [Bug 356225] Panel moves to wrong screen when external monitor is connected

2016-07-28 Thread Simone Gaiarin via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225

After a preliminary testing, I confirm that the situation seems to be improved
even if not 100% reliable.

In particular a problem I've noticed is that if I close the notebook lid with
an external monitor connected (configured as primary screen), the panel in the
external monitor disappears, while the widgets remain in place.

Reopening the lid brings the panel back.

Testing this I've noticed, but this may be reported as a new bug, that all the
windows in the external monitor are moved to the notebook monitor even if they
were originally placed in the external monitor before closing the lid.

[plasmashell] [Bug 356225] Panel moves to wrong screen when external monitor is connected

2016-07-28 Thread via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225

I upgraded to Plasma 5.7.2, Qt 5.7.0, and framework 5.24 and still experiencing
multi-screen issues. However, I noticed a significant improvement.

My case is fairy simple, I always want all widgets and panels on my primary
screen (i.e. screen 0) which is either my laptop screen if no external monitor
is connected, or the external monitor if it is connected (I use HDMI screen at
home and VGA at work). Kscreen does remember that choice of primary display.
Also in terms of widgets and panels, I have some notes and folder views and 3
panels (one on the top, one on the bottom and one on the left). My external
screen is always placed on the left of my laptop.

For months I have been using the bash and ruby scripts I made, and running it
after either plugging or unplugging the external screen always worked (100%) in
restoring my desktop as I want it.
BEFORE UPGRADING, plugging or unplugging a screen seem to change the LastScreen
lines in ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc, in the sections
containing "org.kde.panel".
Therefore, the ruby script reads the
~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc and changes LastScreen=1 to
LastScreen=0 (since I want all panels on Screen 0 all the time) for sections
containing "org.kde.panel", and then the bash script restarts plasma and my
desktop got restored perfectly.

Problem still present after latest upgrade:
When I plug an external monitor, my laptop screen goes black and the external
monitor has some widgets and panels on it but not all.
When I am on two screens and I made it so it is all good, and then I unplug the
external monitor, my laptop screen displays the right config (all widget and
panels) for just half a second and then the screen flickers and I end up with
only some widgets (although sometimes none) and panels (usually only the top
one but also sometimes none).

However, I do not need the ruby script anymore, but just need to restart plasma
using:
kquitapp5 plasmashell
/usr/bin/plasmashell --shut-up
in a bash script, and my desktop reappears perfectly!

Hence the file ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc does seem to
now record the right config when plugging and unplugging :) :) However, it
seems that the file/config is not being read automatically after plugging or
unplugging a monitor, hence the desktop being messed up.
