Didn't like the default flat Breeze look, switched to the usual "unflat" Oxygen theme, but there appear to be some glitches with it. One of the glitches is that tabs seem to be non-Oxygen, they are too flat, as if those were Breeze tabs or something. Attached screenshots of what tabs looked like in KDE4 Oxygen and what they are in Plasma 5. Notice how Oxygen tabs have round corners, how there is space between each tab, and that the non-focused tabs are just a bit slightly darkened. Now notice how Plasma 5 tabs are flat with rectangular corners, there is no separation between them besides a horizontal line, and the non-focused tabs are a lot darker. [kde] [Bug 383260] New: Resolution changes leak across X sessions
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383260 Bug ID: 383260 Summary: Resolution changes leak across X sessions Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: xinerama Assignee: l.lu...@kde.org Reporter: k...@skrypuch.com Target Milestone: --- For context, I have a triple monitor setup (3840x2160 center monitor with a 1600x1200 monitor rotated 90 degrees clockwise to the left and the right of the center monitor) all connected to a GTX 1080 Ti. In my xorg.conf is a static metamode (Nvidia style) describing this setup so that it's setup properly even if I'm not using KDE (SDDM, or a bare X session for example). This all works great and I've done something similar for many many years. Now, due to the fact that I normally have a lot of windows open and I don't want them to be moved around or resized on me (as generally happens if the resolution is changed) if I do actually want to run something in a different resolution (mainly games, but also required for Gsync to work (as it only works with a single active monitor)), then I will start a second X session (:1) and switch *that* session's resolution, to guarantee that my primary X session (:0) remains untouched. Today, I executed the second X session as described above (switching center monitor to 3840x2160 and the side monitors off via xrandr) and when I was done, I returned to my primary X session and discovered that my resolution had been changed (primary and right monitor were off, left monitor was the correct resolution but no longer rotated). Frustrated, I killed that X session and and let the static xorg.conf setup fix the resolution, which it did at the login manager (SDDM). However, immediately after starting KDE, I was returned to the broken resolution (left monitor not rotated, other two monitors off). At this point the only way to fix the setup was to manually open nvidia-settings, rotate my head 90 degrees and reenable the other two monitors and set the monitor rotations correctly (using the kscreen equivalent probably would work too - I didn't try, but ultimately not relevant). At this point, the correct resolution will persist across KDE logins as expected (until of course one tries to use a second X session again). This issue is reproducible every time (with the same broken resolution on the primary X session), regardless of the resolution change that actually happened on the second X session. This started happening quite recently, no more than 6 months ago, but probably even less. I'm not sure what specific component is at fault here, but I'm currently using plasma-5.34.0 and plasma-meta-5.9.5. In the past 6 months, plasma-meta was updated from 5.8.5 to 5.8.6 and then to 5.9.5, while plasma was updated from 5.29.0 to 5.34.0. I can provide further version details for other packages upon request. In short, it appears that KDE is: a) listening for all resolution changes (across all X sessions, not just the current X session nor just any X sessions with KDE running in them), and b) attempting to update the resolution of a KDE session in response to a), and c) failing badly at changing the resolution (probably because changing resolution of a non-active X session is generally a no-no), and d) saving the broken resolution settings and persisting them into the next session, undoing the static xorg.conf config I suspect the design intent here was to notice resolution changes in the current KDE session (even when they happen via xrandr and not through a KDE tool) and persist them across sessions (arguably a nice feature to have), but this should not pick up resolution changes in other X sessions (especially non-KDE X sessions). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Yes, that makes plenty of sense. For clang, I suppose it's a nice opportunity to leverage work done to produce tests for gcc. And quite frankly, having testsuite code parsed is not very valuable at all. Getting good parsing of the middle-end is, especially for somebody like me with no experience with data flow analysis, interprocedural constant propagation and such. I don't have this properly parsed yet, because of the quirk that gcc was converted to C++ a few years ago, but all of the file still end in .c. I believe I've found the fix in KDevelop for that, but I need to rebuild gcc (for build tree headers) and reparse. When I'm done with this, perhaps I should write a blog post about using KDevelop to work on gcc. But as for this bug, I still want to try to reproduce the crash I was having earlier to make sure that this is the full and correct work-around. I'll try to get back with you as soon as possible. [plasmashell] [Bug 380008] System randomly freezes or crashes to the login screen, glitches until rebooted
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380008 --- Comment #17 from Mircea Kitsune--- I randomly decided to google parts of my dmesg output. I was surprised to discover that someone else has reported a very similar issue, which looks like it might have the same root as mine! https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101325 The dmesg output their provided almost perfectly matches my last log, and they also have a RadeonSI card which further narrows down the problem. The main difference is that they experience this with Unreal Engine 4 Editor, whereas for me the trigger is the Plasma desktop. That report seems to contain a fair amount of logs, so hopefully bringing it and this together can help produce a solution at long last. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 381395] plasma wayland crash
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381395 David Edmundsonchanged: What|Removed |Added Assignee|k...@davidedmundson.co.uk|plasma-b...@kde.org Component|general |generic-wayland --- Comment #8 from David Edmundson --- I'm not sure if that's the full reason. In thread 1 we'll see a window being destructed, so it's doing a final call to the render thread to delete things, but that's ending up doing a full on (now broken) full frame swap. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[frameworks-kglobalaccel] [Bug 383245] New: Enable keycode-based shortcuts rather than character-based
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383245 Bug ID: 383245 Summary: Enable keycode-based shortcuts rather than character-based Product: frameworks-kglobalaccel Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: mgraess...@kde.org Reporter: ska...@gmail.com CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- As more and more users become multilingual and switch keyboard layout between different languages this begins to have an increasing impact on the usability of any keyboard shortcut. Currently, given a shortcut defined as a sequence of characters, it may only be reachable using different keys, or not at all if the current keyboard layout is so much different. A few examples: CTRL-SHIFT-4 (this gets interpreted as CTRL-$ on a US keyboard), but after switching to Hungarian, when pressing the same keys CTRL-! is being sent. On a Russian layout that would turn into CTRL-; So many mappings of the same keys make it impossible to optimally use keyboard shortcuts in a multi-lingual environment. Please allow shortcuts to be mapped to keycodes, so the same keystrokes can work regardless of their logical mapping. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
