[kwin] [Bug 384341] In X11, Small/Large Icon window switchers have hardcoded sizes and are super tiny on high-dpi screens
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384341 --- Comment #13 from Michael Zanetti--- What I mean is that right now the Small Icons one is unusable on a high-dpi screen. By increasing the size of both (for high-dpi setups) the small one would be the same as the current big one with mostly sharp icons, while the big one will have some pixelated icons, but for those who want it, allow faster navigation through many windows because the larger size makes it just easier. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375865 --- Comment #6 from vicnet--- OK, I understand the usage you have of the magic filling. I think this way of using F12 is valid, just border line because for me, magic filling, is used to fill other fields. To fill current field, especially in a combo field, there is a short select list... But you are the boss :-) I remark also that combo field is not blue after selecting an item in short list. [Breeze] [Bug 384357] Breeze theme Task Manager icon for Virtualbox is ugly and nondescript and doesn't match what's shown in the Task Switcher
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384357 --- Comment #3 from Nate Graham--- Another point: It's a bit unfair to Oracle to completely erase their app's branding and visual identity with our own icon. The rest of the Breeze theme app icons for 3rd party apps retain some visual connection with the original--usually a very strong one; most are just flattened versions of the original, rendered with brighter colors (e.g. GIMP, Inkscale, Clementine, Darktable, Handbrake, LibreOffice, Matlab). Even icons that substantially change the style retain the essence of the original; for example the Breeze VLC icon depicts a video player window, with with the iconic orange traffic cone inside it. As far as I can tell, the VirtualBox icon is alone in how it completely erases the branding and visual connection with the original developer-provided icon. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384341 --- Comment #10 from Nate Graham--- We already get bad icons for many windows, though. That's not a regression introduced by Michael's experiment, it's something we already live with today for non-hidpi displays. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384341 --- Comment #9 from Martin Flöser--- (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) > Sounds like this is a WONTFIX for X11, then? Or more like a CANTFIX. Partially probably a CANTFIX. There's probably something we can do as you showed by hacking the file (thanks for trying!). What I'm slightly worried about is that we don't get good icons for all windows. Especially Firefox and Chromium are traditionally candidates for bad icons. I just xproped by Firefox and it only has 48x48 as max icon and Chromium has exactly one icon in 64x64. Compared to e.g. Kate which has a range from 16x16 to 128x128. So upping the small icon switcher shouldn't be a problem. For the large icon switcher we might end up with an unpleasant experience. [konqueror] [Bug 384322] Konqueror crashes when typing an URL in the location bar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384322 Nate Grahamchanged: What|Removed |Added Status|REOPENED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |UNMAINTAINED --- Comment #3 from Nate Graham --- Dolphin has been the file manager of choice for many years now, and Falkon is a new Web browser that aims to replace Konqueror's web browsing function. I will agree with you that this transition has not been communicated well. There is some information here: https://community.kde.org/Incubator/Projects/Falkon#QupZilla The bottom line is that is is very unlikely that Konqueror will receive any further development given that there are more modern replacements for both of its major functions (file management and web browsing). I prefer to close these bugs to avoid giving people false hope. I understand this this is probably a major disappointment, but as with all things in tech, time marches on and unmaintained code rots. It's just the way of the world. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 373062] WebDav - Cannot rename or delete files when special characters in the path
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373062 --- Comment #2 from Musikolo--- Hi Elvis, I've further looked into the issue and find out more information. The error I get it's still occurring but the cause it's slightly different to what I thought. If I copy or move a file which name is having vowels with accents, the operation completes successfully. When I try to rename the file, this is what I get: A) If I rename the file removing all accents, the operation succeeds. B) If I rename the file keeping one or more accents, the operation fails with an error message that says "Access was denied while attempting to move the specified file or folder." After that I can delete the file renamed in A) seamlessly. However, if try to delete the file renamed in B), I get an error that says "The file or folder webdavs://mysesrver/remote.php/webdav/adiós.txt does not exist." The problem here is not related to the delete operation. The real issue is that after the error, dolphin shows the file as successfully renamed and, when I try to delete the file with the new name, the operation obviously fails because the naming never happened. If I refresh and retry, I can successfully delete such a file file. >From command line, the same happens: [me@MyPC tmp]$ kioclient5 copy 'a.txt' 'webdavs://myserver/remote.php/webdav/' [me@MyPC tmp]$ kioclient5 move 'webdavs://myserver/remote.php/webdav/a.txt' 'webdavs://myserver/remote.php/webdav/b.txt' [me@MyPC tmp]$ kioclient5 move 'webdavs://myserver/remote.php/webdav/b.txt' 'webdavs://myserver/remote.php/webdav/bá.txt' "Access was denied while attempting to move the specified file or folder." [me@MyPC tmp]$ kioclient5 move 'webdavs://myserver/remote.php/webdav/b.txt' 'webdavs://myserver/remote.php/webdav/ba.txt' [me@MyPC tmp]$ kioclient5 ls 'webdavs://cubox.ddns.net/remote.php/webdav/' | grep ba.txt ba.txt [me@MyPC tmp]$ So to sum up, the only issue we have is at renaming a file with accents. Everything else is fine. Maybe dolphin should be updated to refresh the file names even after an error occurs when renaming to prevent other operations to fails afterwards. I hope this helps and the issue gets fixed shortly. Thank you! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmail2] [Bug 384359] New: Regression in 5.6.0 / 17.08 compared to 17.04.3: MySQL load always 100%, constant queries, extremely sluggisch behaviour

I'm using a normal IMAP resource with a locally running Dovecot IMAP server process. Akonadi permanently executes quries as the following: SELECT count(DISTINCT PimItemTable.id), sum(PimItemTable.size), sum(CASE WHEN ( SeenFlags.Flag_id IS NOT NULL OR IgnoredFlags.Flag_id IS NOT NULL ) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) FROM PimItemTable LEFT JOIN PimItemFlagRelation AS SeenFlags ON ( PimItemTable.id = SeenFlags.PimItem_id AND SeenFlags.Flag_id = ? ) LEFT JOIN PimItemFlagRelation AS IgnoredFlags ON ( PimItemTable.id = IgnoredFlags.PimItem_id AND IgnoredFlags.Flag_id = ? ) INNER JOIN CollectionPimItemRelation ON ( CollectionPimItemRelation.PimItem_id = PimItemTable.id ) WHERE ( CollectionPimItemRelation.Collection_id = ? ) constantly loads the disk (Samsung 840 EVO SSD), lets the mysqld process eat 100% CPU (with the corresponding power consumption and fan noises...) and reacts very, very slowly in general. (E.g. moving messages takes several 10 minutes, opening folders often also does.) kMail/Aknoadi already had severe performance problems before, which made working with it a trial of patience (See bug 338571, bug 352604), but this is an all-new quality now... [Breeze] [Bug 384357] New: Breeze theme Task Manager icon for Virtualbox is ugly and nondescript and doesn't match what's shown in the Task Switcher
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384357 Bug ID: 384357 Summary: Breeze theme Task Manager icon for Virtualbox is ugly and nondescript and doesn't match what's shown in the Task Switcher Product: Breeze Version: 5.9.4 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Icons Assignee: visual-des...@kde.org Reporter: pointedst...@zoho.com CC: kain...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 107690 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=107690=edit Jarring discrepancy between Virtualbox app icon and Breeze-themed icon The Breeze theme icon for Virtualbox is ugly and nondescript. It's nothing more than alternating black and gray lines with little green dots. It's impossible to tell what it's supposed to represent, and its dark, blocky, rectangular shape makes is look rather unattractive and muddy. Furthermore, it's *very* far from the Application's own icon shown in the task switcher. Usually themes app icons have at least some visual relation to the original developer-provided icon, but in this case there appears to be no relationship. I've attached a screenshot that shows the discrepancy. As you can see, of all the programs I have running, Virtualbox is the only one whose Task Manager icon is radically different from its Task Switcher icon. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 381842] Sometimes the icon from the task switcher and the icon from the panel don't match
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381842 Nate Grahamchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||pointedst...@zoho.com --- Comment #3 from Nate Graham --- I agree with you Dr Chapatin, but throughout the Linux world there's this weird mania to apply custom icons to programs and override the icons their developers specify. I don't understand it either, but apparently a lot of people like this, despite the visual inconsistencies it causes in cases like this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381074 --- Comment #48 from Thomas Schmitt--- Hi, if you feel adventurous enough: I propose something like qDebug() << "Bug 381074: wanted: " << __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ << d->wantedMediaType << d->wantedMediaState << d->wantedMinMediaSize.lba(); qDebug() << "Bug 381074: found: " << __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ << medium.diskInfo().mediaType() << medium.diskInfo().diskState() << medium.actuallyRemainingSize().lba(); I now understand that __PRETTY_FUNCTION__ is supposed to print the name of the function the qDebug() statement is in. So the message text is not as hard to find, as i first thought. The function name should be "slotMediumChanged()". No overall progress bar appears: https://webmshare.com/m8Z8q Using an unstable branch Neon, an overall progress bar does appears but is not accurate: It starts at 0%, goes up to 5%, then down again, and finally disappears once the update is finished without ever reaching 100%.
