It's not always easy to detect what is url and what is not when you type
something in address bar, this is one of the cases.

As a workaround, you can use search bar which will always search for what you
type in it, so you can even search for urls.
In latest build, there are also search buttons in address bar completer popup,
so you can use those to force search too.

Ok thank you for clarifying that, I misunderstood Gilles when he pointed that
out. I didn't seem to see this option when doing some queries in
google(although Digikam docs were appeaering as results).

Sorry, I'm confused.

Despite what you say, there are two different file browse dialogs present as
mentioned in my report. They may look the same on other OS/DE, but on KDE they
are visually/functionally different. Can you explain why this is? Should they
not both be using the same one?

The import dialog is the appropriate one that I'd like to the collections
dialog use as well as it's the expected native type of dialog on KDE.

KDE is not the finality. DK run on Windows and MAcOS too.

We want a file dialog which do not crash DK. We want a application working
properly. The native file dialog based on GTK desktop crash violently under
Ubuntu.

So we swith to Qt5 file dialog by default and provide an option to Setup/Misc
to switch to native File Dialog if necessary.

[kactivitymanagerd] [Bug 389492] New: Infinite loop in sqlite3BtreeCursor

2018-01-26 Thread Peter Cordes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389492

Bug ID: 389492
   Summary: Infinite loop in sqlite3BtreeCursor
   Product: kactivitymanagerd
   Version: 5.11.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ivan.cu...@kde.org
  Reporter: pe...@cordes.ca
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

After upgrading my Arch Linux desktop earlier today (no packages held-back or
anything), I have kactivitymanagerd 5.11.5-1 and sqlite 3.22.0-1.

I noticed after starting X (from a text console with /usr/bin/startx
/usr/bin/startkde like I usually do) that kactivitymanagerd had 2 threads
running at 100%. IDK how long this had been going on for, but probably since
starting KDE because I don't even have a CPU-usage plasma widget on my taskbar,
and hadn't opened the task manager / process list.

This may not be a kactivitymanagerd bug at all, unless calling sqlite functions
with the wrong args can get threads stuck in the pointer-chasing loop in
sqlite3BtreeCursor. (https://www.sqlite.org/src/artifact/656173030bd10759:

  for(pX=pBt->pCursor; pX; pX=pX->pNext){
if( pX->pgnoRoot==(Pgno)iTable ){
  pX->curFlags |= BTCF_Multiple;
  pCur->curFlags |= BTCF_Multiple;
}
  }

pX->pNext is pointing to itself, so the mov rax,QWORD PTR [rax+0x18] asm
instruction is loading the same value repeatedly. (I don't have debug symbols,
but the asm loop it's stuck in is very clearly from that part of the source).
The if() condition is false, so it's not ORing anything.

The object pointed to by pX is:

(gdb) x /8g $rax
0x55e6161c19e8: 0x02022201  0x55e616102d10
0x55e6161c19f8: 0x55e6160d4850  0x55e6161c19e8
0x55e6161c1a08: 0x  0x005f
0x55e6161c1a18: 0x55e616141529  0x0060005f005f

(note the 3rd qword is the pointer pointing to the start of the object).

The backtrace on that thread is:

Sorry I don't have debug symbols. This report probably isn't enough to really
debug anything, but if other people are hitting the same bug then maybe we can
figure out which versions of kactivitymanagerd + libraries are a problem.

It appears the other infinite-loop thread is *also* stuck in the same function:

In my case is so random when it crashes, it could take almost one hour of
constant use of the transform tool, or it can happen just about 10 min, and it
doesn't matter the complexity of the scene. It's pretty annoying

my system, 3.3.3 also has the issue

Same bug here, and other reddit users are experiencing it as well:
https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/7t6g33/device_notifier_not_showing_usb_drives/

I have my drives to automatically mount when attached, and they are; they just
don't show up in dolphin or the notifier widget.

[kwin] [Bug 389117] GTK3 apps started with GDK_BACKEND=wayland have incorrect or inconsistent decorations

2018-01-26 Thread Kyle Devir
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389117

--- Comment #17 from Kyle Devir  ---
Leave this issue closed for now, because this particular issue has been solved.

The non-request for server-side decorations is a GTK3 bug, but with the request
being forced, it exposes a bug somewhere on the KWin side.

It could one or the other, or both. I don't know at this stage. So, I'll just
open a new bug if necessary.

Sorry, but this bug leaves me frustrated and confused.

[Falkon] [Bug 389491] New: link: and site: searches are not working in Falkon

Bug ID: 389491
   Summary: link: and site: searches are not working in Falkon
   Product: Falkon

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: general

  Reporter: valorie.zimmer...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hello, using Falkon from a PPA in Kubuntu 17.10:
https://launchpad.net/~tsimonq2/+archive/ubuntu/falkon

Yesterday I had to use another browser for the first time in a few months,
because `link:website.com` and `site:website.com searchterm` were not working.
For the record, they didn't work very well in Firefox either, so I had to
resort to using Chrome.

Even without this, I surely would love to see this released and in the Debian
and Ubuntu archive!

Thanks for the bug report.
The CheckBox title is "Share this printer", how other way one can share a
printer without making it available on the network?
You might want to contact the translation team to use a better wording, also
it's up to your distribution to actually make that possible by default as the
CUPS server needs to be set to "Share Printers".

[kjots] [Bug 389489] New: Two actions, (Bold, Add Bookmark) want to use same shortcut (Ctrl-B) in Knoppix V8.1 of June 2017

2018-01-26 Thread David K
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389489

Bug ID: 389489
   Summary: Two actions, (Bold, Add Bookmark) want to use same
shortcut (Ctrl-B) in Knoppix V8.1 of June 2017
   Product: kjots
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: steve...@gmail.com
  Reporter: profc...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

O clicking Kjots in the LXDE menu of apps, an Error window appears, titled
"Ambiguous Shortcuts". The text in the window says "There are two actions
(Bold, Add Bookmark) that want to use the same shortcut (Ctrl+B). This is most
probably a bug. Please report it in bugs.kde.org". Then it shows me a square
checkbox where I may choose "Do not show this message again"; and it shows me
the "OK" button.

I am running   KNOPPIX-V8.8-017-09-05-EN.iso  from a 3GB USB3.0 flashdrive on
which I installed this ISO file as KNOPPIX running in partition /dev/sdb1 with
a persistent overlay partition in /dev/sdb2, where certain folders (etc, home,
var) are replicated to provide persistence. All partitioning and setup was
done automatically by the "Flash-Knoppix" procedure when I booted from the DVD
containing the ISO file named above, downloaded from the Knopper.net website.

The /etc/apt/sources.list file shows the code is from Debian repositories:
debian stable main contrib non-free
debian testing main contrib non-free
debian unstable main contrib non-free
debian experimental main contrib non-free
debian-volatile stable/volatile main contrib non-free

Hope this helps. I love KDE!

The printer settings panel changes the default server printer, not the user
local one, that can be changed by changing some file and is not supported at
the moment (maybe never will).

[kdelibs] [Bug 196303] KDE needs it's own Print Dialogue

2018-01-26 Thread Michael Weghorn
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=196303

--- Comment #17 from Michael Weghorn  ---
Thanks for all who have replied.

Given that support for even/odd page selection - the one feature explicitly
mentioned in the bug report - is now present in the print dialog, I suggest to
close this as WORKSFORME and handle potential further things that may be
missing in separate reports.

Unless anybody brings up objections, I will therefore close this bug in a few
weeks.

Ack.

$ kcmshell5 kcm_lookandfeel
org.kde.kcoreaddons: Error loading plugin "kcm_lookandfeel" "The shared library
was not found."
Plugin search paths are ("/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins", "/usr/bin")
The environment variable QT_PLUGIN_PATH might be not correctly set
"file:///usr/share/kpackage/kcms/kcm_lookandfeel/contents/ui/main.qml"
 "Error loading QML file.\n28: module \"org.kde.kcm\" is not installed\n"

and the window that appears is empty.

Running

$ sudo apt-get install qml-module-org-kde-kcm

fixes it.

This should be marked as confirmed in KDE Neon, and the dependences of the
package fixed.

[kate] [Bug 389484] New: Ctrl+Tab: Possibility to cancel and show parts of the file path

2018-01-26 Thread Gregor Mi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389484

Bug ID: 389484
   Summary: Ctrl+Tab: Possibility to cancel and show parts of the
file path
   Product: kate
   Version: 17.12.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: codestr...@posteo.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Two suggestions for the Ctrl+Tab feature:

1) It would be convenient if the Esc key would cancel the switching action (in
case one does not find what one is looking for). Like in Plasma's Alt+Tab.

2) I often work with structures with many files that have the same name (e.g.
README.md). It would help to identify the correct file if parts of the filepath
(e.g. starting from the git repo root) where displayed before the baseame.

[kwin] [Bug 389483] New: VLC leaks playing video details to lock screen

2018-01-26 Thread Tom Chiverton
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389483

Bug ID: 389483
   Summary: VLC leaks playing video details to lock screen
   Product: kwin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugs.kde@falkensweb.com
  Target Milestone: ---

By default, the lock screen displays the currently playing media on VLC.

This leaks details of media being played to anyone.

Can't see where to flag this as security issue.

2018-01-26 Thread Gregor Mi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389416

--- Comment #2 from Gregor Mi  ---
Every time I use the "Choose Sessions" menu, the bug happens. So I use it not
very often. I normally use the Kate Applet.

I will report back if I find out something new.

GDB log + "thread apply all bt full" backtrace

I can reproduce this crash quite reliably by typing "firefo" into krunner.

$ echo $LANG
de_DE.UTF-8
# LC_ALL does not exist.
$ export LC_ALL=de_DE
$ kate

Now the file in the "Der-Bäcker" folder is not even opened but "New file" is
shown; even if I drag the file from dolphin.

# Reset LC_ALL
$ export LANG=de_DE
$ kate

Same effect as above: "New file" instead of opening the file.

$ export LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
$ kate

At least the file is loaded to the editor.
