[konsole] [Bug 393644] Regression: Bi-Directional rendering doesn't work after this commit

I guess right to left mark (and other marks) is separated from rest of the
text, so the rendering engine does not use it for the text.
I'll look into the code later.

(In reply to Sassan Haradji from comment #0)
> I wonder why we've added this condition.

This makes each character to be drawn separately, which prevents offsets made
by non-fixed-width characters (see commit msg)

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 336369] Lock screen: suspend option is missing

I am also in favour of having a button on the lockscreen to suspend.

Suspending by closing the lid is not enough. For example I configured the
action of the laptop lid to do nothing, because I want to close it without
suspending when my laptop is docked and connected to a monitor. In this case
the lock screen would be shown in the second monitor, and opening and closing
the lid would not suspend the laptop.

Moreover I have configured the power button to lock the screen, given that I do
it often.

So my only option is to type the password to unlock and suspend, which is very
annoying.

[digikam] [Bug 393539] Wishlist: Option to save rotation information (pixel, EXIF-flag) to the file always, instead of sidecar

Dear Maik! Thanks. I'm using RAW files - maybe that's why the options seemed
so confusing. I change the status of this bug back to "duplicate of 366391".

I think I need to read up more about metadata storage and the purpose of
sidecars. What I wanted to do is, always store information in the file if that
changes the rotation of the picture, and store everything else in a sidecar,
regardless of what the image file type is. My idea was that, this way, I can
avoid "unnecessary" changes to the image file and save them in a sidecar file
instead (because the backup program I use backs up the whole image file again
if it has changed). But I use the images also as wallpapers, and KDE plasma
programs (wallpaper desktop, also Gwenview I think) ignores the sidecars. So
then the pictures aren't shown in the correct rotation outside digikam.

I suppose that, if I only need digikam, I would select to save metadata only in
the digikam database, except for rotation which I want in the file.
Alternatively, any exchange format would work as long as it is supported by KDE
apps. Maybe baloo would be a better choice for me instead of sidecar files?

I'd also like to see this implemented into KDE, bringing a feature from other
OSes and some DEs to Plasma. Due to security concerns, we can make this
toggleable or just show the applications that sent notifications instead of the
full detail, i.e.

"3 Notifications from Thunderbird"
"5 Notifications from Discord"
"24 Updates Available"
etc.

Can System Settings for the lockscreen not have a UI toggle for soft buttons to
allow shutdown/suspend/hibernate? Sometimes I've suspended the machine only to
find it wake up again shortly after, I have to manually type out the password
again just to attempt a suspend once more.

It'd be nice if the user has allowed the lockscreen to display power button UI,
that you could then do such actions via lockscreen without requiring an unlock.
My machine isn't a laptop and it's power button isn't that accessible.

Suspend shouldn't cause any harm/risk to running processes and the like? If
such a setting were off by default it shouldn't cause any harm/risk to other
users that is mentioned for avoiding it?

about 2 out of 5 times people who click while the mouse is moving didn't mean
to do the click.

For users with mobility problems, it is extra important to make sure that they
actually mean to do the click.. so they may struggle a bit to actually trigger
the event, but doing the false event is much worse... better to make them give
confirmed good input than start opening a program that will take 10 minutes to
load... Also note, the people with mobility problems also often don't have
enough money to buy a good computer.

  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org

It is very easy to misclick. If I want to cancel something, on windows I can
just press the other mouse button and cancel the mouse event.

In Kubuntu 18.04 we are noticing that it is very easy to right-click and then
accidentally click on a menu item on the menu without even noticing that the
item was selected.

This would be solved by triggering the monu open on mouse-up. This would make
it consistent with other systems that had usability studies and presents
expected behavior.. KDE currently does not exhibit expected behavior, and it
is actually dangerous because unintended input is caused.

This is like there for a reason: what Kaffeine locks when a record is happening
is the transponder, not the channel. In other words, if you have multiple
channels at the same transponder, you can be recording one channel while
watching another one, even with just one card. You may, at any moment, record
the channel you're watching too, having multiple channels being recorded at the
same time, one via instant record and another one via "normal" record. Also,
one may want to use instant record just to record a particularly interesting
part of the content on a separate file.

Granted, some extra logic could be added there to block recording a channel
that it is being recorded already, but that would require some work, IMHO with
very little benefit.

Git commit f1227fc2bdb9bb5757da4612d546ee59733012f3 by Mauro Carvalho Chehab.
Committed on 29/04/2018 at 22:21.
Pushed by mauroc into branch 'master'.

dvb: switch play to record when there's not enough devices for both

Change the current behavior when there's a scheduled record that
has started while the device is playing another DVB channel: before
this change, it was stopping the play. Now, it will switch the
player to the new channel, if it is not at the same transponder.

[krita] [Bug 393659] New: After two days with no problem, the program crashes when adding a text item, or saving

Crash report from latest Krita crash

Building a multilayer document (a map). There are eleven layers now, four are
grouped in two groups of two.
In the top layer, I've been adding text (names of cities for my map), with no
problem I reach the last one and doing anything with it seems to reliably crash
the program. Open the image (a .kra file which is 408.0M in the title bar and
22-23 MB on disk) and enter this text token, and sometimes it crashes after
using the Select Shapes Tool to reposition the text (reposition and then click
away), sometimes it crashes when I attempt to save the work. But it so far,
always crashes.
I haven't tried adding a new layer, or anything else.
I hope I got the part of the crash report you want, but I have the whole thing
saved if you want something else.

Let me know what I'm doing wrong, please. If you need more information, please
LMK. If I'm running out of some arcane resource, give me a clue how to fix it.

I like the program, and I need a replacement for Adobe Elements, which I though
this might be.

Krita 4.0.1 (git 064710e)

Appreciate your help.

Checking the crash reports on the Play Store, I found a ClassCastException on
the following cast in AlbumArtCache.java:

connection = (HttpURLConnection) currentUrl.openConnection();

This crash is actually quite common, with 300 crashes in the past 7 days.

I'm not sure what's the cause though. The only other subclass of URLConnection
that can come from openConnection() is JarUrlConnection:

https://developer.android.com/reference/java/net/URLConnection

But I don't think we can get a JarUrlConnection there. I was trying to
reproduce the crash to see what kind of URLConnection we are getting there, but
it doesn't seem to crash on me.

What media player are you using?

To be fair, I often just change TTY and press the suspend button there. It
should also work with the power button to poweroff the computer (or
ctrl-alt-del), so some points here are rather moot.

Showing a confirmation UI (maybe with a timer) would probably be a better
solution. Ideally, the screen locker could know what kind of activity there is
in the background (KTorrent downloading, disk copy, compilation) and show a
message that some actions could be interrupted, but that might be just me
overthinking this.

A new empty tab always appears at the end of the tab tree. There should be the
option to automatically open it next to the active tab. It is also desirable to
have the possibility of opening a new empty tab as a child of the active tab,
for instant by middle-click on the "New Tab" button at the bottom of the side
bar.

Git commit e0deacd8efc4c2447337c0b62761f3a84a8382a0 by Valeriy Malov, on behalf
of Tobias Ellinghaus.
Committed on 29/04/2018 at 19:46.
Pushed by valeriymalov into branch 'master'.

Change _ICC_PROFILE atom assignment to properly support multiscreen

In ColorD::addOutput: handle case when ColorD already has the device
we're trying to add
Detect connected output atom IDs and apply set _ICC_PROFILE for each

This is a largerly unchanged patch from corresponding bugzilla page
Changes to patch: split getAtomIds a bit, remove unneeded pointer wrap

I don't really have calibrated screens to test how correct the set atoms
are, but this patch makes darktable-cmstest happy and it seems to
compare colord profile content to _ICC_PROFILE atoms, so I guess it
should be good

Sorry, I shouldn't have been so brief on details.

Breeze, I need to force it to 24px since it's improperly set to 36px by part of
applications.
Standard cursor image is the problem here. Basically it happens when cursor
passes some borders between stuff. Explained more in attachment.
My resolution is 1600x900.

Can it be related to size misdetection?

Kaffeine 2.0.14

The following bug may NOT happen if there is more than 1 dvb card installed.

Steps to comprehend the behaviour:

-Start Kaffeine and program a scheduled recording on channel "B".
-Now go and watch live-tv on channel "A" (on a different transponder)
-When the scheduled recording begins, Kaffeine turns channel "A" black, giving
the following message: 'no available device found'. In fact Kaffeine internally
switched to the scheduled channel "B" and records it (writing data to disk).

You can "follow" the scheduled recording by hand, switching to channel "B"
manually. (So you can have a picture again).

Suggestion: when a scheduled recording starts (and only 1 dvb card is
installed) don't turn the screen black and give error "no available device
found", instead tune to the recording channel.

Don't filter out duplicated entries from places panel

This can lead to crashes and is inconsistent with the KIO file picker dialog,
which shows duplicated entries.

[Spectacle] [Bug 393646] New: Spectacle uses Gnome defaults

2018-04-29 Thread Ken K
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393646

Bug ID: 393646
   Summary: Spectacle uses Gnome defaults
   Product: Spectacle
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: m...@baloneygeek.com
  Reporter: kkin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

For whatever reason, Spectacle appears to want to use Gnome file binding
defaults for Gnome, not KDE. For example, in Gnome, I have GIMP and Nautilus
(Files) configured as defaults, while in KDE, I have Gwenview and Dolphin.

With Spectacle, opening the file opens in Gnome. Using "Open Containing Folder"
uses Nautilus.

As far as I can tell, Spectacle is the only KDE app I have that does this.

[digikam] [Bug 393539] Wishlist: Option to save rotation information (pixel, EXIF-flag) to the file always, instead of sidecar

Created attachment 112309

rotation.png

See screenshot, if this option is checked, the flag will always be written to
the image. There are 2 exceptions:

1. The image is a RAW file or read-only file
2. It is activated that is written only in the sidecar.

I think that I understand your wish correctly, although English is not my
language. Information is always stored in the database. The 8 options of the
metadata tab and the rotation tab determine whether the information is also
written in the image and / or sidecar.
The sidecar combo box decides if activated:

1. Sidecar only for read-only files-> RAW or read-only images in sidecar,
otherwise in the image
2. Always in sidecar-> ONLY in sidecar, never in the image.
3. sidecar and image-> always sidecar and if possible also in the image

What files are you use, JPEG?
