The backtrace do not indicate really where is the problem.

Did you install the debug package to be more verbose with GDB ?

Can you reproduce the problem with the official digiKam 5.9.0 AppImage bundle
that we provide ?

Can you test also with the current 6.0.0 AppImage bundle pre-release available
here :

[kate] [Bug 396864] New: Text Filter needs a better name or caption that reveals its true power

2018-07-25 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396864

Bug ID: 396864
Summary: Text Filter needs a better name or caption that
reveals its true power
   Product: kate
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

It's not obvious from its name ("Text Filter") or caption ("Easy text
filtering") that this plugin allows you to pipe text through arbitrary shell
commands--a feature that enormously magnifies a text editor's power. We should
consider improving the name of the plugin (and its menu entry) or its caption
to mention something about terminal or shell commands.

For example the caption could be "Process elected text using terminal
commands".

Increase backend header text's left margin

Summary:
Give the backend name a bit more room so it doesn't look so cramped on the left
side. Even though this makes the left edge of the text no longer align with the

I just checked how this works on LVM. LVM PVs that are part of LVM VGs are set
to be "mounted". This is enough to let KPM know that it can't delete partition
table of that device. So in the future, we can also mark raid_members as
mounted.

This has nothing to do with Latte... There are plenty of broken desktop files
that miss StartupWMClass which is the only way for plasma libtaskmanager to
associate Windows with Launchers if the desktop file name doesnt much the
StartupWMClass.

I had the same issue in TumbleWeed, I had to add at gimp.desktop file:

StartupWMClass=gimp-2.10

as it appears in new gimp version the StartupWMClass changed from gimp to
gimp-2.10

You need to install the extra-cmake-modules package. This is either a Debian

One issue per bug report, please. See
https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#One_issue_per_bug_report

First issue: you need to turn on "Automatically switch all running streams when
a new output becomes available", which is located in System Settings >
Multimedia > Audio Volume > Advanced. However keep in mind that this will
disable some functionality in the Audio and Video KCM. See Bug 392117 and Bug
392103.

Second issue: Click on the three-bar hamburger menu button on the left side and
the option is there. If you don't see it, your Plasma version may be too old.

kontact has been running for since long. Computer reboots regularly, at least
1x per day. kontact autostarts via a script "LC_TIME=nl...@cst.utf-8 kontact",
however this time it came up and displayed the month as "Mo7" and not as "Juli"
as it should be. I killed the kontact and started the script again and since
that time, kontact aborts and will not run anymore.

[kwin] [Bug 396857] New: Desktop grid effect is slow to trigger in X with lots of windows open

2018-07-25 Thread Michael D
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396857

Bug ID: 396857
Summary: Desktop grid effect is slow to trigger in X with lots
of windows open
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.13.3
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-desktop-grid
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: nortex...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I notice that in an X session with a lot of windows open, it takes roughly 2
seconds to trigger the grid effect even after consecutive invocations (back to
back). This is on an Intel Kaby Lake Core i5 7200U with integrated graphics.
The effect is immediate on wayland, however, so no problems there.

I have it set to present windows, alignment disabled, layout mode pager, and
show buttons to alter count disabled.

kglobalaccel5 gets autostarted when needed and works on X11 unless the
shortcuts are already taken by another de-specific shortcut system.

On Wayland kglobalaccel5 needs support from the compositor which to my

Hi Philip,

sorry nobody looked into this until now.

On Linux, mkdtemp lives in stdlib.h, which is already included. Is this still
an issue for you on macOS? If it is, this should probably be ported to
something like QTemporaryDir, or we should add the include (if the reason for
de3a0b069c08 still applies).

Going to Browse mode when pressing Esc is what most people expect, so it makes
sense to have this as a default. Making this context aware as is being proposed
here also opens up potential for confusion, because not every user might expect
this silent change in behaviour. Lastly, we don't want to add a configuration
option for this either.

Note that since Bug 385242 was fixed, you could bind Esc to quit to get the old
behaviour back (you would still be able to use Enter to switch to Browse mode).

Therefore I'm closing this bug.

I'm going to close this, because nowadays Gwenview runs pretty silently when
started from a shell (there is still some output if you happen to run into an

CRT - compare and trap = just NOP (do nothing)

To add this option to the KWin kcm - where it belongs. Then all users could use
it and all config is in one place. It's absolutely unacceptable to modify
configuration of other applications. Imagine all applications would modify KWin
config. Guess what a mess this would create.
