[okular] [Bug 380330] Bookmarks disconnected after path change

Please disregard my comment above. I initially misunderstood the feedback.
However, I still don't understand why file extended attributes could not be
used, which would preserve the linkage to the file despite its movement.

[okular] [Bug 380330] Bookmarks disconnected after path change

2018-08-20 Thread Jeff Dooley

> you pretend to know all the bookmarks you have on your system? You need a
> file that points to those files, so you have the same problem.

Bookmarks that are only scoped within a single PDF file (not all files in the
system) would be the only bookmarks I care about. I already know how to find
the files I need, and I have numerous tools available to find files. However,
"bookmarks", like the physical pieces of fabric or paper inside a book, only
help me to find interesting bits of information within a PDF file that I
already have opened. So the metaphor of broken links across the file path/ tree
is pretty much irrelevant, I would say.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 397690] New: Cannot lock screen with Ctrl+Alt+L when desktop context menu is displayed

2018-08-20 Thread Bob Mahar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397690

Bug ID: 397690
Summary: Cannot lock screen with Ctrl+Alt+L when desktop
context menu is displayed
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: 5.10.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: b...@muhlenberg.edu
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Presumably this is because of the age old X Windows shenanigans of context
windows having a lock on the screen semaphore, preventing the screen from being
locked. Given Bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284357, the desktop
context menu probably should not refer to a keyboard shortcut known not to work
from a context menu.

To reproduce:

Right clock in desktop area.
Context menu appears with Screnn Lock menu option showing Ctrl+Alt+L shortcut.
On pressing Ctrl+Alt+L, nothing happens, not is an error generated.

2018-08-20 Thread Alistair
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397687

How I sorted it was by closing Skrooge and reopening.
Im still having problems with the visibility of checked items the checkmark
seems to be sometimes random eg some items get checked when I feel I havent
checked them (during balancing accounts). Using GTK I have to use a new theme
Ambiant-MATE otherwise the checks are not visible. This was not the case with
older versions. Kind regards, Alistair.

[QtCurve] [Bug 397686] New: Using menubar in Qt programs causes them to freeze

2018-08-20 Thread Pierce
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397686

Bug ID: 397686
Summary: Using menubar in Qt programs causes them to freeze
   Product: QtCurve
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: qt5
  Assignee: yyc1...@gmail.com
  Reporter: gripw...@gmail.com
CC: h...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Using the menubar in a Qt application will cause the entire application to
freeze, and has sometimes prevented me from switching to my terminal emulator
(or any other application) to kill it (killing from a TTY unfreezes
everything). I have encountered this issue with Okular, Dolphin, Kpatience, and
KolourPaint. It only occurs in Qt based applications, as I have not encountered
the problem when using Firefox, XFCEterm, or LibreOffice writer.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a Qt program such as Dolphin or Okular
2. Click on a menubar category (e.g. File, Edit, View, etc.)
3. Mouse over items within the category/switch to other categories in the
menubar

Actual results: the program freezes and sometimes can only be killed by
switching to a TTY

Expected results: programs should not crash

I'd say your number is too high, but ok :D

But not everyone runs baloo (I don't) and also i think you can exclude some
folders from baloo watching so it's not really the panacea either

Anyhow both of those "solutions" is something kind of outside the scope of
okular, so other people's ideas/workforce welcome :)

   Version: 5.13.1
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: sdi...@live.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Steps to reproduce:

1. Play a audio file with a media player which playback can be controlled with
a widget in plasma panel.
2. Send a SIGSTOP to the media player process.
3. Press playback start/stop shortcut or key.
4. Click on any place on the plasma panel. No reaction is noticeable.
5. Send a SIGCONT to the media player process previously stopped.
6. The expected reactions to the clicks on the panel occurs.

The same behaviour occurs with openSUSE builds from version 5.13.4. The
behaviour occurs both with VLC and dragon player. I am not sure which component
is responsible for this behaviour so I chose component general as component to
report the bug.

That would be a pretty good 90% solution, I think.

Doesn't Baloo already do this? We might be able to leverage it here.

Let's say you save the bookmarks on a pdf file (which you can not), how do you
pretend to know all the bookmarks you have on your system? You need a file that
points to those files, so you have the same problem.

Basically bookmarks need to point at files. If you move the file the bookmark
will be lost, there's no way around it (well actually if the move was done by a
"KDE App" it could try to update the bookmark files, but if you do a move with
the terminal, there's no way to fix this (unless you add a global file moving

A "re-added image" was appended to the end of the list. To remove an image, the

I am using version 0.8 on Manjaro Linux.

To reproduce in my Layout just disable Solid background while also enabling
blur and have background size at 100%.

Anyway, this is what I wanted to write as I was able to reproduce the bug like
this 100% of the time. Just now, when I tried it again for my comment, the
problem is gone.

The only thing I've changed is my Plasma theme. I went from Breeze Dark to Arc
Dark (which is kvatum theme) and the problem is gone. I am not able to test
further tonight but maybe it is related...

[dolphin] [Bug 368287] Dolphin crashed while moving files

Created attachment 114524
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=114524=edit
New crash information added by DrKonqi

dolphin (18.08.0) using Qt 5.11.1

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
This is probably related to Bug 391699. Happend while moving files (directory)
from ext4 to NTFS. I've got several popups with error messages saying:
"Access denied to %1." where %1 is a destination file.
I selected "skip" several times until I've got errror with only cancel and
retry. Then click on Cancel causes this crash. Looks that KJob object was
deleted and then used again.

Sometimes it crashes one line earlier in the code:

Thread 1 (Thread 0x7f7c28092800 (LWP 12962)):
[KCrash Handler]

job=0x55e599f16bd0) at ./src/core/filecopyjob.cpp:573

- Custom settings of the application:
NTFS mounted with this flags. It is default setting on Kubuntu/Neon. IIRC
changing it to something else workarounds this issue so it is important.
UUID= /media/Disk  ntfsdefaults,umask=007,gid=46 0   0
I guess that when files is moved Dolphin tries to change owner and permissions
to the source ones. On NTFS it fails which then somehow leads to crash in KJob.

Yes. You have probably tested with 18.08 beta 18 (refactoring branch). Don’t
test with this version as there are still some bugs. The refactoring update
will come in December.

The 18.08.0 is just a small update of the existing code with mainly:
- Fix custom lift/gamma/gain displaying wrong UI BUG: 364127
- Require MLT 6.10 (to avoid the incompatible 6.8)

I will work through this bug report step by step. Tested under openSUSE
Tumbleweed with native digiKam version and current AppImage.

1.) I can not reproduce the problem. If no window size is saved, we read the
desktop geometry to set a good window size. Works great here. In addition, each
set size is saved and is available after reopening. Which Linux desktop do you
use? After the screenshot it is probably Ubuntu?

I think, not much people will use characters like ":" and "*" for filenames,
but those characters can be part of the variables, e.g. EXIF variables. I
searched for this bug report, because I wanted to insert date+time in the
filename, because this makes it possible to sort photos easily by date/time.
Unfortunately this does not work with Digikam 5.9.0 + Linux + VFAT media,
because [meta:Exif.Image.DateTime] produces filenames with colons (e.g.

[plasma-browser-integration] [Bug 397684] New: Enabling "Enhanced Media Controls" breaks Home Assistant

2018-08-20 Thread Leo Verto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397684

Bug ID: 397684
Summary: Enabling "Enhanced Media Controls" breaks Home
Assistant
   Product: plasma-browser-integration
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Firefox
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: leotheverto+kdeb...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When "Enhanced Media Controls" is enabled, Home Assistant fails to load and
throws "TypeError: this._meta.byKey is not a function".

Now I realize this may not sound like an issue on your side but interestingly
enough, the LastPass extension seems to have caused the exact same problem in
the past: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant-polymer/issues/448
and per the referenced issues, also caused problems for other projects using
web components (https://github.com/webcomponents/webcomponentsjs/issues/819,
https://github.com/appreciated/vaadin-app-layout/issues/98).

Now if this is really caused by the same addon behaviour then the plasma
browser integration could very well also break other websites using similar
polymer/webcomponent code but I haven't gotten a chance to check it yet.

Are you sure that this is 18.08? Looks like 18.04 - i.e. no automatic audio
split when pulling a clip on the timeline.

  Severity: normal

I had a video I edited and rendered with Kdenlive. When I made a few minor
edits to the original project and re-rendered using the exact same settings and
clips, Kdenlive renders a corrupted video file (No thumbnail, no seeking, and
glitched image). I havn't added any clips, nor installed anything in between
the two renders. This issue now occurs in every format in a different way. For
example, if I render to mp4 or mpeg, the file is corrupted in the ways
mentioned above. If I render to a .avi, the video has no sound and skips around
randomly.

I did what Mauro suggested and, yes, there were more transponders.

BUT:

(1.) The list still isn't complete, e. g. there only ten radio stations as
before.

(2.) I can hear no sound from the radio stations, or it has many interruptions.

I am especially interested in the german public radio stations as NDR, MDR,
WDR, BR, HR and so on.

I am shocked, file manager is not an editor, that´s all I can say. You
behaviour and replies are unacceptable, if you continue this way very soon your
programs will disappear, and Mint has already begun and abandoned KDE
distribution. KDE authors are Neon and Kubuntu, and that´s going so poorly that
Neon isn´t capable after all these months to make a switch to Ubuntu 18.04
which is its base.

Not sure what you mean. When I look at the 18.08 release on kde.org, it has
kdepim-addons 18.08. But when I look in the apt repo at the address posted,
everything else has been released in the 18.08 series _except_ for
kdepim-addons; that one is still 18.04. I guess someone forgot to upgrade and
compile that package for the 18.08 release.

I am not compiling anything myself; this is strictly an issue with what the APT
repo is providing for download.

There is an approach to integrate Firefox with activities based on automatic
profile generation:

https://github.com/hellishnoob/activityfox

It has its flaws (lots of profiles, additional non-firefox window required and
to hide, no way to change settings / extensions in all activity specific
profiles at once) but maybe there is a chance to join this approach and the
native component of plasma-browser-integration and to eliminate some flaws with
the cooperation of native host and browser extension?
