[konqueror] [Bug 397903] Can't open "file type options"

2018-08-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply

--- Comment #2 from william.m...@anderson.ucla.edu ---
(In reply to Burkhard Lueck from comment #1)
> does "kcmshell5 filetypes" work for you?

That helped! The command failed but with a suggestion to install kde-cli-tools,
which I did. Now the button has started working, and I can also access the file
associations through that command.

But even after selecting "Show file in embedded viewer" and "Apply", Konqueror
launches a separate viewer for PDFs, whether I use Okular or Document Viewer.
Image files seem to open in the embedded viewer just fine. I'm guessing I just
need to install something more, but don't know what.

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 397914] New: Picture of the Day doesn't change every day

2018-08-26 Thread Kristopher Ives
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397914

Bug ID: 397914
Summary: Picture of the Day doesn't change every day
   Product: kdeplasma-addons
   Version: 5.13.4
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kimpanel-dataengine
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kristopher.i...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When setting desktop background to Picture of the Day (potd) using provider
Bing (and likely others) the background picture doesn't change every day. It
does appear to change sometimes, but not every day.

I am willing to do more debugging if needed to fix this. I have been reading
the potd code and it appears to have a 10 minute timer that uses the last
modified time of a cached image file, with this line of code:

info.lastModified().daysTo( QDateTime::currentDateTime() ) > 1

Does this mean it only changes every 2 days and the fix might be as simple as
changing to greater-or-equals to 1?

Thanks!

2018-08-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply

--- Comment #10 from caulier.gil...@gmail.com ---
Maik,

It sound logic to store thumbnails in local database with a remote mysql server
make several improvements. But why not to use a local mysql database for the
thumbnails, to be homogeneous ? This will prevent to use 2 different Qt sql
plugins in memory at the same time.

But i'm not sure about PGF. The compress in wavelets and very optimum. There is
a problem to use this format ?

[Breeze] [Bug 397851] Disabled entries in context menu are unreadable when blur and transparency effects are active

2018-08-26 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397851

Hah, I see! Seems like there is a general conceptual issue here:

When using Breeze light and the transparent+blurred element is over a dark
element, the menu background darkens significantly, which reduces the
readability of dark text (i.e. active menu items).

When using Breeze dark and the transparent+blurred element is over a light
element, the background lightens significantly, which reduces the readability
of light text (e.g. inactive menu items).

Here's an idea: When the transparent element's inherent color is significantly
different from the color of whatever's beneath it, we could brighten or darken
the result to make it better match the transparent element's original color.

I'm currently working around adding a

Currently both the kwin button and the top menubar get activated by the ALT

the two menus may, and frequently overlap, which makes the feature a bit
useless.

I would suggest to prioritize the top menubar if it exists, and the kwin button
menu otherwise.

Hi Valeriy Malov :

Thanks a lot for looking into this.

1) I found it was the button-1 (the pen tip) was not configured, so after I
configured that it works now, though not sure why it was working without proper
config while connected via usb cable.

2) Yes when I chose "Map to Cursor" I was expecting it behaves like a mouse -
if I move pen away from pad, then touch the pad again with the pen, the cursor
should stay where it was, no matter which point I touch on the pad. But this
seems not happening - instead the cursor jumps to the point where relatives to
the point I touch on pad.

Last thing, there are 4 extra buttons on the pad that can be customized. Their
signals can be picked up in the settings - Input Devices - Joystick, but the
"Graphic Tablet" doesn't provide customization options for these (in "Tablet"
tab), what is the current best solution for this ?

Many Thanks

[digikam] [Bug 297922] THUMBDB : different database locations for thumbnails

The code for storing thumbnails on disk is present in digiKam and is also used
by showFoto. As a test I have already activated this in digiKam and the
increase of the performance with MySQL is considerable, even if the DB runs
locally over network. Although the PGF format is a very data-saving format,
many thousands of thumbnails become very slow over the network. It would be
possible that we always use a local SQlite database for the thumbnails.

Updated patch - tests and other improvements

This new patch includes a set of tests covering the majority of the command
line options and client requests. The documentation is improved as well. I've
added more client requests for more effective use with a test suite - if there
were 0 allocations rejected you know the test covered all options, for example.

This has the toggle function removed. I still believe it is a very important
feature for the tool, but I haven't got it working yet without ~4000 lines of
code from callgrind. The patch is otherwise "complete".

In the file manager, I right-click on a file and click "Properties" to bring up
the "Properties for..." menu. When I click "File Type Options", nothing
happens.

My real goal is to have PDFs open in an embedded viewer in Konqueror rather
than an external window, so that I can then use "Ctrl+Shift+L" to have a
split-screen PDF viewer. I had this working on Ubuntu 14 but I cannot figure
out how to do it since upgrading to Ubuntu 18. I think that the "embedded
viewer" option is under "File Type Options" but am not completely sure, and
can't find any clear documentation on this issue.

Yepp, parking mount and dome can be controlled through the calibration dialog.

Flat field calibration can be fixed with D14977. The only problem is that my

Btw.: is there a calibration for darks and bias frames? Currently, the button
is active for all frame types except for light frames. From my perspective,
this does not make much sense.

If you're serious about images, it's easy to exceed the number of images that
can be stored successfully in the database. When you do this, new images can be
added, but don't show up in the tree view. If it were possible to umount an
album location and mount another (assuming that both are already defined in
digikam |settings | configure) it would solve the problem. I can accomplish
that now by manually umount-ing and mount-ing, but that's really kludgy. I
think this would be easily done from the tree-view context menu, and would be a
nice way to get around the physical limits of the java and/or database
container, perhaps along with a configuration switch to support album location
switching.

All screen shots comm from one session (restored).
I don't know if described issue is caused by incorrectly implemented Plasma in
used (by me) distribution or this is but in Plasma.

Anyway files still multiplying in "~/.config/session". Manually remove them
after start of session doesn't help. Menu in restoring applications sometime
appearing, sometime not, sometime this is normal menu, sometime this is
appmenu. Looks like randomly behavior. Just please check screen shots.
Issue happens from almost year.
Would be nice if somebody could confirm that this is happen in his desktop or
not happen.

I noticed that restoring session (applications with appmenu) works better in
KaOS, but I don't know if developers this distribution applied some workaround
or not.

Yeah, in order to provide the requested feature for multiple colors that you
can switch between, we'd need to change the configuration window for the effect
to allow you to add additional styles, and attach global shortcuts to each
individual one. Probably with this, their shortcuts should be visibly connected
with each style. Seems doable UI wise, if such a thing is implementable.

[kdevelop] [Bug 397899] New: Option to exclude subdirs when running clazy on folders/the prioject

2018-08-26 Thread Friedrich W . H . Kossebau
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397899

Bug ID: 397899
Summary: Option to exclude subdirs when running clazy on
folders/the prioject
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Analyzer: Clazy
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kosse...@kde.org
CC: an...@anikin.xyz
  Target Milestone: ---

Given a software project which has (for whatever reason) some copies of
3rd-party code in some subdirs. Such 3rd-party code copies often should stay
untouched from optimizations, to keep the diff to the original code as small as
possible.

So it would be useful to be able to exclude those subdirs from clazy runs, to
both not spend time on code which should not be changed as well as keep the
result lists clean from uninteresting results (and fixes).

Example:
KDevelop codebase which has some copies of subversion code, astyle code and
qtcreator's qml parsing code. Those copies are in their own special
subdirectories (all named 3rdparty/) and should be often ignored when running
clazy on the whole project, like with performance checks.

Sp it would be useful to have an additional listing in the Clazy project config
UI where one could lists project subfolders which should be excluded. Either by
patterns or by explicit listing of existing subfolder paths, not sure yet what
is more useful.

Subdirectories excluded here would then also mean the respective actions are
not shown in the context menus on folders and files in those subdirs.

(Cmp also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397885 filed for
clazy-standalone with a similar reqzest, whose implementation though might not
be relevant here, given kdevclazy does its own processing of the commands
database and collection of source files to run clazy on).

2018-08-26 Thread Adam Spiers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397896

Bug ID: 397896
Summary: some UI fonts appear as unreadable symbols
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 18.04.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: User Interface
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@adamspiers.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 114617
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=114617=edit
screenshot from 18.04.1 AppImage

On openSUSE Leap 42.3, some UI fonts (e.g. times on the timeline, and text in
popup dialog boxes) appear as unreadable symbols with all of:

- 18.04.2 rpms
- the official 18.04.1 AppImage
- the 18.08-beta17 AppImage

It's easier to explain with screenshots, so I'll just attach them.

I'm not a UX guy but different shortcuts for different colors will be quite
problematic. Better would be to have some window where folks can pick different
colors and line width, I guess.

Confirmed, sorry for taking so long.

The problem seems to (randomly) happen when communicating with signond. As
result we get empty access/refresh tokens from KAccounts, which causes the
"Unknown error" from the gdrive slave.

[kaddressbook] [Bug 397895] New: Can't add or edit postal addresses

2018-08-26 Thread Tristan Miller
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397895

Bug ID: 397895
Summary: Can't add or edit postal addresses
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: 5.8.3
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: psychon...@nothingisreal.com

  Target Milestone: ---

KAddressBook recently stopped allowing me to add or edit postal addresses.
Postal addresses for contacts are still visible in the main KAddressBook
window, but they do not appear in the "Location" tab of the "Edit Contact"
dialog, and pressing the "Add Address" button in that tab has no effect.

I'm using KAddressBook from the openSUSE Tumbleweed packages.
I'm not sure if it's related, but the following gets printed to the console
when I open the "Edit Contact" dialog:

I'm using KAddressBook from the openSUSE Tumbleweed packages.

   Version: 5.13.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash

Application: systemsettings5 (5.13.4)

Qt Version: 5.11.1
Frameworks Version: 5.49.0
Operating System: Linux 4.18.4-zen1-1-zen x86_64
Distribution (Platform): Archlinux Packages

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I opened Applications > Launch Feedback and did nothing.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:

The "unsaved settings" star in the app's titlebar was flashing really fast for
a few seconds.
After a few seconds of flashing, the app crashed.

- Custom settings of the application:

My setup uses custom monitor scaling with xrandr which gets applied
before login in sddm's Xsetup file. I have one 3840x2160 screen at
scale 1x1 and two 1920x1080 screens at scale 2x2.

UI scaling is set to 1.6.

The KScreen2 startup service is disabled.

System Settings was on the 3840x2160 screen during the crash.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

Your restructuring steps make sense to me, but I don't understand whether you
found a fix for the flat field calibration or you still see the looping

compiling whole Qt5 5.8 + KF5 5.49 frameworks work as expected, including

There is no linking problem if i disable libksane support in digiKam.

Note : this problem appear since i update KF5 to 5.49. There is no problem with
KF5.5.45. So it's probably a problem relevant of ECM or something new is
missing in libksane CmakeLists.txt

 - Maddening. I've rolled with the punches, grudgingly. But
historically, I've seen multiple regressions of functionality forced on users
with new versions, and a dismissive attitude regarding impact.

Now I've adapted to using both activities and multiple desktops. I can only
pray that this "merge" will be elegant enough such that I won't feel like I'm
getting smacked in the head. Again.

There is a word.

Stability.

It's a thing. It's good.

[systemsettings] [Bug 397892] New: System Tray widget has extremely bad usability

2018-08-26 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397892

Bug ID: 397892
Summary: System Tray widget has extremely bad usability
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.13.4
  Platform: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: britalme...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

(Note: I couldn't find a better category for this report)

I have a system tray widget in a panel by default.
I found it impossible to configure to my taste and also next to unusable.

Configuration "System Tray Settings":
- there seems to be a concept of "things in the panel" and "things in the
dropdown menu", however, in the settings this is not clear. Entries is for the
panel and "Extra Items" for the dropdown? What are the categories? Maybe you
could have a list of all possible entries and there select if, where and when
to show it.
- about 50% of the times, "Entries" in the settings is completely empty.
- If I enable something in the Extras and apply, It will not show in the
Entries until I restart the dialog.
- I have 2 different audio icons and I can not understand the difference
(except that one doesn't function).
- Wacom tablet settings is not autoloaded, it's always there.
- Instant Messaging doesn't function if it is in the extras.
- KOrganizer daemon stays around no matter if it is disabled and disabled from
start.
- I can not disable bluetooth on start.

Usability:
- when clicking on most of the icons (one of the sound icons, wireless,
battery), instead of being taken to the related options (eg. available networks
for the wireless icon) I get the same popup as if I would have clicked on the
dropdown.
- After having the popup "Status & Notifications" it is extremely hard to click
it away. For instance, clicking on the panel will not dismiss it. Clicking on
the dropdown arrow again also does not fold it back.

[kgeography] [Bug 397891] New: KGeography doesn’t handle images with transparency

2018-08-26 Thread Karl Ove Hufthammer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=397891

Bug ID: 397891
Summary: KGeography doesn’t handle images with transparency
   Product: kgeography
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: aa...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@huftis.org
CC: lauran...@free.fr
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 114616
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=114616=edit
Updated map file for Norway (with transparent background)

KGeography doesn’t handle images with transparency correctly. It looks like the
colour of transparent areas aren’t properly recognised.

I’ll attach an example image. This is an updated version of the map for
‘Norway’. The only difference is that the background colour (220,220,220) is
marked as transparent (but it’s still saved as a colour).

How to reproduce:

1. Note that the norway.kgml has a definition for ‘Not Norway’, defined as the
colour (220,220,220), the same colour used as the (transparent) background
colour in the attached image file.

2. Note that the tools/colorchecker.py scripts reports ‘The map is correctly
formed’ when run on the ‘norway.gml’ when the existing ‘norway.png’ is replaced
by the attached file. (If I change the background colour to a *different*
colour, the tool complains, so it seems to work fine.)

3. Note that KGeography correctly loads the image, and shows it with a
transparent background (which looks *much better* than the grey rectangle of
the existing map file).

4. Click on the background of the map to get the following error message:

You have found a bug in a map. Please contact the
  author and tell the /usr/share/kgeography//norway.kgm
map has nothing associated to color 220,220,220.

So it looks like KGeography *sees* the colour as 220,220,220, the colour
defined in the .kgm file. But at the same time it doesn’t *handle* it like a
normal 220,220,220 colour.

You don't need to recompile the packages.

The issue seems to come from the missing update of Frameworks packages in
testing.
Only few packages from Frameworks 5.49 migrated to testing, and the vast
majority of them are still version 5.47, but the newer version of Plasma was
built against Frameworks 5.49. Just update all Frameworks 5.47 packages to the
unstable version (5.49) and Plasma should work again.

The bug should solve itself when all the packages migrate. Packagers should
ensure that the migration of Frameworks happens all at the same time, and it
blocks the dependent packages.

I'm closing the bug because it's a distribution-specific problem.

Current krusaderrc showing desired [Synchronize] settings.

The [Synchronize] settings aren't being loaded from the krusaderrc.
Particularly annoying are the filter settings -- that's a lot to replicate each
time.

As a side note, my krusaderrc says it is from version 2.4.0-beta3 -- which I've
never had installed -- when krusader itself reports 2.6.0 as version.

I've attached my current krusaderrc and a screenshot of the dialog with all
settings evidently missing.

The fact that there are 285 comments so far should be significant in evaluating
the importance of the "different wallpapers" feature.

Merging activities and virtual desktops is fine with me -- provided that
there's a way to ignore the activities and just use virtual desktops, perhaps
by having a single activity whose existence can be ignored.
