[kwin] [Bug 399822] Option to exclude fullscreen windows from 'dim inactive' desktop effect

2018-10-14 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399822

The best workaround I've found for this in the mean time is to click the 'keep
above' window button before fullscreening the window. Then the window will be
excluded as long as you don't have the 'keep above windows' option ticked in
the 'dim inactive' settings. However this still isn't ideal.

[kwin] [Bug 399822] New: Option to exclude fullscreen windows from 'dim inactive' desktop effect

2018-10-14 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399822

Bug ID: 399822
Summary: Option to exclude fullscreen windows from 'dim
inactive' desktop effect
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.14.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-various
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: adamska...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

FEATURE REQUEST
Dim Inactive should have an option and possibly by default exclude dimming
fullscreen windows.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE (WHAT HAPPENS INSTEAD)
1. Fullscreen a video playing on youtube or something on one monitor
2. Open another app on second monitor

OBSERVED RESULT
The fullscreen window will dim meaning you can't easily watch something on one
monitor and continue using the other.

EXPECTED RESULT
Fullscreen app shouldn't dim under any circumstance.

Well, its been over 2.5 years and no movement on this whatsoever.
Can we get an explanation of what is holding it up?
Is there info needed? If so please ask.
Sample C code to compute sha256? I can provide that.
md5 is falling out of favor and many places not long provide an md5sum but
instead provide sha256
Dont misunderstand DO NOT remove md5 just ADD sha256

Allow the user to configure the number of recent documents that Krita
remembers.

Settings / Configure Krita / General / Miscellaneous / Recent Documents

Or perhaps better

Settings / Configure Krita / General / Sessions / Recent Documents

This would affect the file menu and the initial work space which also shows
recent documents when none are loaded.

This is possible in KDE applications, as the Kate editor allows the user to
define the number of recent documents.

This means that ALL available appimage versions 4.x.x released or not,

I have updated the report's "platform" field to "Appimage", since the problem

[krita] [Bug 399820] New: Implement Metal support as OpenGL is deprecated on OS X

2018-10-14 Thread Alberto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399820

Bug ID: 399820
Summary: Implement Metal support as OpenGL is deprecated on OS
X
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.1.5
Platform: Mac OS X Disk Images
OS: OS X
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: afonsec...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Apple has deprecated OpenGL support for the Mac OS X platform and the API is no
longer supported. Although still functional, it may cease to be included in
future releases of the operating system. This bug is to report this change and
advise implementation of the Metal API for continued support of Krita on the OS
X platform.

Please refer to Apple's note in the OpenGL programming guide:
"Important OpenGL was deprecated in macOS 10.14. To create high-performance
code on GPUs, use the Metal framework instead."
https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/OpenGL-MacProgGuide/opengl_intro/opengl_intro.html

They refer developers to use the Metal API referenced here:
https://developer.apple.com/metal/

Additional information regarding Apple's deprecation warning:

"Deprecations
Periodically, Apple adds deprecation macros to APIs to indicate that those APIs
should no longer be used in active development. When a deprecation occurs, it’s
not an immediate end of life for the specified API. Instead, it is the
beginning of a grace period for transitioning from that API and to newer and
more modern replacements. Deprecated APIs typically remain present and usable
in the system for a reasonable time past the release in which they were
deprecated. However, active development on them ceases, and the APIs receive
only minor changes to accommodate security patches or to fix other critical
bugs. Deprecated APIs may be removed entirely from a future version of the
operating system.

As a developer, avoid using deprecated APIs in your code as soon as possible.
At a minimum, new code you write should never use deprecated APIs. And if your
existing code uses deprecated APIs, update that code as soon as possible."

Reference: https://developer.apple.com/macos/whats-new/

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Krita
2. Go to menu Krita->Preferences->Display

OBSERVED RESULT
Observe Canvas Graphics Acceleration option Renderer lists OpenGL and Metal is
not an option.

EXPECTED RESULT
Metal is an available graphics acceleration renderer option

# My guess:

It's either OS/DE or Krita is suppressing [Super] and [Shift] in some case;
Or
It's the input field of New Tag box not being recognized by Input Sources

have widechar property. I think there was a temporary fix to assign widechar
property to all non-BMP characters to help Emoji rendering. If I understand the
upcoming 18.12 widechar commits correctly, the new version will use the actual
Unicode properties.

Thank you for the update. I have a couple of questions regarding the bug status
and process as I'm still getting up to speed here.

1. Was someone able to isolate the specific OpenGL API call that is not working
as it's supposed to on a Mac OS Nvidia GPU? Do we have sufficient information
to resolve this bug?

2. If indeed it is a bug in Nvidia's driver on OS X, is there no code
workaround possible? I have not encountered a similar bug on other paint/image
editing applications on my Mac with this GPU.

3. Although Apple no longer ships new MacBook's with Nvidia GPU's, they are
still supported by Apple (I just updated my own Nvidia MacBook to MacOS
Mojave). Other Krita users have already reported this issue (other bugs closed
out marked as duplicate of this one). What is the support cutoff in terms of
hardware age for the purposes of Krita development?

@Eoin
I tested with krita-4.2.0-pre-alpha-9d7d596-x86_64.appimage (2018-10-15)
Under Manjaro GNOME 17.1.12 (Gnome 3.30)
It is still not working.

P.S. I'm sorry for the late reply! The spam mail filter of my mail provider
treated the frequent notification mails from KDE as spams and I missed a bunch
of them! I turned the whole thing OFF now.

Off-topic here sorry. But: MSP 16 has an nvidia GPU, so when the GPU is
stressed, it will automatically switch to the NV GPU, therefore avoiding intel
GPU's overheating problem under Linux. I have been testing a few workarounds
and they seems to work by suppressing CPU package's power cap. I will do some
more research and report the the issue to where it should be.

[krita] [Bug 399748] Selection tools need a non-interpolation outline mode to work with pixel art

2018-10-14 Thread Tyson Tan

Yeah I can't put my finger on it but I did feel I was missing something...sorry
for the false alarm!

On the other hand...

As we default to Vector Mode, where the Anti-aliasing checkbox cannot be seen,
the discoverability of this function has become an issue. I know I was dumb and
all that, but the fact I missed the checkbox still reflects the difficulty that
new users would have finding the function.

Do you think we can add a note at the bottom of the Selection Tool's options,
saying:

"Note: You can only turn off Anti-aliasing in Pixel Selection Mode"

I have not tested it, recently, but revisiting this bug report makes be wonder

I didn't try appimage, but on my Gentoo system with 18.04.3 it doesn't crash.

I tried Plasma Wayland, and Gnome Wayland (both with QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb and
wayland)

However, with QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland on Gnome kdenlive is unusable (the window
stays is at the lower part of the screen, can't move up, there is some strange
square at the top part of the screen...)

Anyway, I think this bug can be closed.

As a side note, unless you're a developer, it's a bad idea to run Qt in debug
mode (like you are) since it means things are going to be slower for no "real
good reason".

But yes that code looks indeed fishy.

SUMMARY
So i think I know you can fix the bug but this is what happens, when I open the
app and press new document and created one. I go to setting-configure
toolbar-and add the stabalizer, the normal brush smoother, and the weight brush
smoother. when I close the app they aren't there anymore and when I go to fix
it there aren't there in the filter. So I have to create another document to
add it. I think the problem is, the fact that you have to make a new document
to add them. so if you you add the smoothers to part where you don't even have
to make a new document when is the homescreen. I think it will be fixed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. press setting-configure toolbar-add brush smoothers(stabalizer,normal,
weigher)
2. Then close the app
3. then they disappear again

OBSERVED RESULT
the smoothers don't show up

EXPECTED RESULT
the smoothers don't show up

Sorry my bad, the Ctrl+Enter support is not done by running Plasma Desktop but
by running an appluication widget style that uses kstyle (for example breeze).

Can you confirm that if you use breeze as style it works?

[kwin] [Bug 399801] [usability] Default configuration: "Active screen follows mouse"

2018-10-14 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399801

One potential problem with switching defaults is that sometimes the optimal
choice isn't represented by any of them. In such a case, changing them around
will simply benefit some at the expense of others, when what's really needed is
more design work to arrive at something that's better for everyone (or at least
most people).

For example, while the "Under mouse" placement mode would solve the problem of
the window opening on the wrong screen, you may not actually want it to be
directly under the cursor, and a different placement mode within that screen
may be preferable. There is currently (to my knowledge) no option for "always
open new window on the screen with the mouse, but otherwise respect the
specified Placement mode".

One option I would personally like is "on the screen with the mouse cursor,
centered, with additional windows cascading if more are opened." Such a thing
is not possible today.

Initial window placement is probably a subject that needs to be looked at more
in depth by VDG rather than just changing the default settings from one to
another.

If I enable gestures in system settings (see screenshot) then tap doesn't seem
to work anymore in KDE apps. Eg. in dolphin tapping a folder just selects it,
tapping it again and you can rename it. In non-KDE apps (tried in firefox),
tapping on touchscreen works. Gestures like two finger scrolling works in all
apps (KDE and non-KDE).
If in system settings I disable then tapping on touch screen woks for both KDE
and non-KDE apps.

Fair enough.

I didn't know that support for Qt < 5.8 was dropped on purpose because there's
no minimum version specified in CMakeLists.txt nor in the README (the release
announcement was not online yet).
Should probably be changed I think, to avoid such "confusion".

I suppose I should withdraw https://phabricator.kde.org/D16192 then...

I'm going to use that patch though to provide kphotoalbum 5.4 for openSUSE Leap
42.3 (which ships with Qt 5.6.2, and is still supported for about half a year)
as well.

Hello guys,

I usually create folders with the keyboard shortcut F10. I would like there to
be a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to create a file in the same way.

Yes - in the meantime you can work around it by removing 'Inherits=adwaita'
from /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme

SUMMARY
kmail 5.7.3 cannot access IMAP folders anymore. kmail 4.11.15 and 4.14 can.
Symptom is no new emails arrive and system log fills up with:

---snip---

IMAP server is dovecot 2.1.7

I have tried to remove .config/akonadi* and .local/share/akonadi* and *kmail*
and reconfiguring; Changing from imaps (port 993) to plain imap (port 143);
Restarting akonadi with akonadictl. Same result.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use dovecot 2.1.7
2. Configure IMAP account as usual
3. (no profit)

OBSERVED RESULT
IMAP folder doesn't appear. Status in settings->configure accounts flashes
rapidly between ready/offline.

EXPECTED RESULT
That the IMAP folder would work.

Thanks for the answer. So, to overcome this issue, the breeze cursor theme must
be updated with some new icons for the corners?

Show 'Extract' menu on archives without extension

determineMimeType() needs the absolute path of the archive, otherwise
the QFileInfo::isReadable() check will always return false (it will then
fallback to `mimeFromExtension`, but that's also invalid if the archive
doesn't have an extension).

[krita] [Bug 399785] Scripter errors if script file lacks .py extension

2018-10-14 Thread Noémie Scherer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399785

Hi,
I'm not sure I understand your question so do ask again if I didn't answer it.
Why did I call it "foo" and not "foo.py"? When you save an image in krita, you
don't need to add the extension, it does so automatically; I didn't think about
it and assumed python scripts worked the same. And when I got the error message
(the one I put in "Observed result"), it didn't help me find what was wrong.
I'm worried it might happen to other people too.
My bug report wasn't very clear, sorry; what I put in Observed Result (and in
Expected Result as well) is the full result I got in the 'Output' section of
the Scripter, I didn't remove any of it. The debugger remained empty. I also
just ran it from terminal and it didn't print anything new when I saved without
the file extension, nor when I ran it (and got the error in the Scripter
Output). Please tell me if there is another way to get information that would
be useful to you.

[kmymoney] [Bug 396225] When importing a ofx/qif file, it does not show me all my accounts

2018-10-14 Thread Jack
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396225

Brendan said in a separate email: "I vote for showing all accounts until you
can add a way to turn all accounts on and off. I have a Savings account that
has the ACCTTYPE set to MONEYMRKT and KMM only shows me my brokerage accounts
unless I run a sed command on the file to change ACCTTYPE to SAVINGS."

I'm not sure of the best interface for this - as we do not want to show a long
list of accounts if it is not necessary, but we do want to avoid the problem of
this bug. What about using the current filter, but adding a checkbox or button
to that dialog saying "If you do not see the account you want to import into,
click here to see account of other types, which may include your desired
account." ?

Hi Wolfgang! Thanks for the bug report (and also for the patch you posted on
Phabricator).

With the new release, we decided to drop support for Qt <5.8.

As it's necessary to maintain extra code (de)activated via #ifdef blocks to
support older versions, it means that we would have to raise additional
manpower to maintain it (and as it's probably the case for most OSS projects,
we don't have too much of it ;-)

Additionally, even Debian (we all know for not having bleeding edge versions)
has Qt 5.9, as well as the current LTS versions of Ubuntu (at least as far as
we know).

Thus, we thought the userbase still being depenant on Qt < 5.8 should be small,
and it would be okay to clean up some old code. After all, it's also simply a
proctical problem: It's quite hard for us to even test compatibility with old
Qt versions.

No offense! And thanks for your effort for sure!

Cheers, Tobias

I also just see that the screenshot of the DOC no longer matches that of

I think that it was already changed in digiKam-5.9.0.

[konsole] [Bug 386094] Konsole crashes on openning

2018-10-14 Thread David

The application crashed when opening using shortcut keys.

There was already a Konsole open and I was trying to open another one.

I think it is possible that I ended up hitting the shortcut twice in quick
succession by mistake and that could have triggered the crash.

I hope that helps.

Since we're discussing the possibility of themes affecting this bug, I'm using

for a long time, as well, but after cleaning up my profile, as I described in
comment #18, I've never seen it again.
