[kwin] [Bug 399423] Regressions with glide effect

2018-10-23 Thread Lucas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399423

I've tested on non-nvidia hardware and it's smoother now, it's only when
choosing max negative distance that the animation becomes choppy, see
https://streamable.com/ybj0v

> In that case, the effect will become distracting in long term, so I'm against
> it.
> If I get more complaints about that, I'll increase initial angles by several
> degrees and maybe make the Scale effect slightly less subtler by decreasing
> initial scales,but that's pretty much it.

> Yes, the Glide effect and the Scale effect are slightly similar (because in
> both cases, animated windows grow in size, and both effects are subtle), but
> after using each of them for a long period of time, the difference becomes
> more noticeable.

I agree that the effect becomes really distracting with those edge rotations, I
always set the angle to 0. But the glide effect is in essence a fancy effect,
as it was inspired by the compiz equivalent, see
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYZg3Y2cpj4
and I think it should stay as it was (most people don't tweak effects to see
it's capabilities, they just want to turn it on to see what happens), and maybe
those who want a subtler effect could use the "Scale" one.

> Hmm, yeah, maybe. (Please file for this issue a separate bug report)

Done :)

[dolphin] [Bug 400228] New: Dolphin suspected of corrupting its config file.

2018-10-23 Thread Abscissa
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400228

Bug ID: 400228
Summary: Dolphin suspected of corrupting its config file.
   Product: dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bus_kdezi...@semitwist.com
CC: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

As noted in Issue #400093 ("Dolphin crashes on startup on invalid XML config
file."), my ~/.local/share/kxmlgui5/dolphin/dolphinui.rc has become corrupted
(thus leading to an initially-mysterious inability to start Dolphin without it
immediately crashing) even though I have not made any edits to the file.

I am aware there are other potential and theoretical causes for this. However,
when an application-specific config file is corrupted, it's usually (even if
not always) the application itself that corrupted it, since after all, that's
the software that's most likely to touch the given file the most often.

Therefore, I am reporting it here so the developers are aware and can be on the
lookout for anything suspect in the code.

As in the other issue (#400093), I am pasting the corrupted file contents
below.

I looks to me like something must have done the following:

1. Loaded the file into a buffer.
2. Wrote a shorter version of the data into the same buffer.
3. Failed to correctly set the new shorter length of the buffer.
4. Wrote the newly-garbled buffer back out to disk.

[kdenlive] [Bug 399300] Library feature does not display clips in UI

2018-10-23 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399300

I'm now running 18.08.2 as well (on Win 8.1) and getting different results with
the library feature. Using the same Steps to Reproduce described above, I can
now add a *something* to the library and I can also see the library folders I
create.

The *something* that gets added to the library actually seems to be whatever
clip I have selected in the timeline, albeit without audio or
effects/transitions (I use split audio tracks).

In answer to your question, I may have been incorrect in my understanding that
setting in/out points was required. Perhaps the wording refers to individual
clips on the timeline itself? I find if I don't have at least one clip
selected, clicking the "Add Timeline Selection" button results in a pop this
message: "Select clips in timeline for the library".

If I select multiple clips, I get a library item which, when added to the
project, appears as a white background in the clip monitor (so none of the
actual video I added--with the exception of a title clip).

2018-10-23 Thread Abscissa

Renaming that file does prevent the crash. I'll update the issue title
accordingly. Note also, there's still the question of what messed up the file
in the first place. I've never touched it.

The contents of the file is included below. I looks to me like something (I
would assume most likely Dolphin itself) must've done the following:

1. Loaded the file into a buffer.
2. Wrote a shorter version of the data into the same buffer.
3. Failed to correctly set the new shorter length of the buffer.
4. Wrote the newly-garbled buffer back out to disk.

In any case, crashing on bad input is obviously a bug, too.

2018-10-23 Thread Aleix Pol
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400199

That's not what the bug report is about. He says that the notifier is still
wrong.

PackageKit checks with alpm (pacman) every time before running, so there's no
risk of being incorrect.

Maybe it would be worth having PackageKit alpm backend emit UpdatesChanged when
some file in /var changes. Or maybe the notifier is missing something. Needs
investigation.

2018-10-23 Thread Ray Wells 4 . 0
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400222

Bug ID: 400222
   Summary: Ekos eating ram.
   Product: kstars
   Version: 2.9.8
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: mutla...@ikarustech.com
  Reporter: blues_h...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
As you use take pictures, especially framing or focus module, Kstars reports
more and more ram usage until the system finally becomes laggy and crashes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up indi with a camera (asi178mm)
2. Turn on framing to stream long exposure shots.
3. set conky, htop or other ram to watch top ram users
3. Wait until many preview frames have passed.
OBSERVED RESULT
Observed high ram usage after many preview frames.
Does no release ram until you restart kstars, which then reverts to very low
usage.

EXPECTED RESULT
Should release ram after previews replaced with new ones.

SOFTWARE VERSIONS
Seen in xubuntu 16.04lts and peppermint 18.04lts

[digikam] [Bug 399923] Segmentation fault during face detection

With the version from today (c71842f1624c6d6518a20e071d36512f0250595b) I could
reproduce the QMap error again. That was before I managed to get the debug
working however:

I am not sure what you mean? I apply all the patches on 18.08 git
and rebuild okular rpm for my system. When I remove this I can save
again. Do you have all the patches applied?

Yes, I got it.
It's not a JPEG file, but a RAW one.
How can I share it?

Interestingly, the camera saves as a string the local date/time with the
extension "Z" at the end for a UTC time. That's wrong, of course. A test with
my Nikon but gives the same problem. So, if we convert that "UTC" time to a
local, then of course a wrong time has to come out of it. The only question is
if all cameras behave that way and we simply ignore the "Z". Gilles, what does
your camera do?

[Akonadi] [Bug 400221] New: can't talk to dovecot imap server

2018-10-23 Thread Johannes Rohr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400221

Bug ID: 400221
Summary: can't talk to dovecot imap server
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.9.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jor...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Somehow, KMail has lost the ability to talk to my IMAP server, which is a
dovecot server, version 1:2.2.27-3ubuntu1.4 on Ubuntu Artful

The connection is set up as an SSL connection on port 993.

On the local console I see:

org.kde.pim.kimap: Connection to server lost 9
org.kde.pim.imapresource: Session login cancelled
org.kde.pim.kimap: Connection to server lost 9
org.kde.pim.imapresource: Session login cancelled

many times over.

In the log on the server I see

Oct 23 22:44:02 ida dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts in 0
secs): user=<>, rip=, lip=, TLS handshaking: Disconnected,
session=

both repeating themselves endlessly until I kill kmail

The same setup works find in Thunderbird, K-9 Mail, Evolution and did word find
with Kmail until recently.

I noticed from another bug report to try
https://download.kde.org/stable/qca/2.1.3/src/ but that also fails for me,
probably because I am using
openssl 1.1.1:

/usr/include/openssl/rand.h:44:1: note: declared here
DEPRECATEDIN_1_1_0(int RAND_pseudo_bytes(unsigned char *buf, int num))

I guess I will downgrade openssl and give it a try again but will only
do so tomorrow.

2018-10-23 Thread shevegen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400219

Bug ID: 400219
Summary: Trying to compile plasma-nm fails for me (5.14.2) -
due to qca-qt5
   Product: plasma-nm
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jgrul...@redhat.com
  Reporter: sheve...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hey KDE team,

I am trying to compile the latest plasma stuff.

Using this URL:

https://download.kde.org/stable/plasma/5.14.2/plasma-nm-5.14.2.tar.xz

The cmake-checks fail to find a required package:

"-- The following REQUIRED packages have not been found:

 * Qca-qt5 (required version >= 2.1.0), Support for encryption,
"

I have a look at this URL.

https://download.kde.org/stable/qca-qt5/

If you look, the latest release is +3 years old, almost 4
years old.

Age in itself is not necessarily a problem if it compiles,
but it does not compile for me - so I actually am, sort
of, filing two bug reports here. BUT, I mostly only care
about plasma, because that seems to be very frequently
having new releases so I assume it is actively maintained.
Not sure about qca-qt5, but I think you can understand that
the situation is not ideal if plasma itself works fine and
is maintained, but add-ons such as qca-qt5 are not.

Anyway, I will also show the specific error for qca-qt5:

(This is a bit long ... I just paste it for the sake of
completeness... comes after a bunch of __):

I reproduced this issue, just working with KDevelop another day.
I think it looks like regression.

Please note that function working like described (in my opinion wrong) might
cause that user will be surprised that only local occurrences have been
renamed, when just will try to compile project. Quite pretty he will meet
errors and will be forced to rename all occurrences manually (in other
classes).

SUMMARY
The date/time information related to videos is wrong: 2 hours in advance.
(Could it be because I'm in CET time zone which is UTC+2 in summer ??)

An example to illustrate that:
- At 21h42 I make a picture
- At 21h43 I make a video
- I import these 2 files in Digikam.

See the result in the printscreen.
* for the picture -> OK (21h42)
* for the video -> NOT OK (23h43 instead of 21h43!! However it displays
correctly that the modification time is 21h43)

There is for sure a difference in the treatment of picture and video.

Note 1: the file time stamp is correct for both files (21h4x).
Note 2: as a result, mixed directory with pictures AND video cannot be sorted
by time: the sorting is not correct.

For block devices that do not have fs label or partlabel, dolphin will _always_
represent them as XX GiB Harddrive. However, a block device may be not a
partitionless harddrive, but a harddrive's partition. It may be located in ssd,
but not hdd. It may be not a physical partition, but lvm logical volume or raid
storage.
So I suggest more accurate naming for devices that do not have partlabel of fs
label:

+-++
|block device | show as|
+-++
| partitionless hdd | Harddrive XX GiB |
| hdd partition | hdd partition XX GiB |
| partitionless ssd | SSD XX GiB|
| hdd partition | ssd partition XX GiB |
| lvm logical volume | Logical Volume XX GiB |
| software raid | raid XX GiB |
+-++

And also we may use lv name in case partlabel is unavailable for logical
volumes.
What do you think about such idea?

I have 3 monitors 2 activities. For me it is definitely a timing issue.
To switch, I press Meta+Tab, release Tab and then release Meta.

The issue happens if I hold the Meta for more than 0.2 seconds but less than 2
seconds.

This means, there is no bug if Meta is released AFTER the bar fully appeared.
There is also no bar if Meta is released before the bar even appeared.

So for keyboard "workaround", if this can be called so, just hold the meta key
for 2 more seconds until the bar fully appears.

Or practice to switch really fast and before the bar appears.

I have a VGA, DVI and a Dport screen. And the bar stays or disappears randomly
on the monitors after a switch. So there is no link with the type of
connection.

dialog says the clip is invalid. Again, without questionmark there is no
problem.

I used Kdenlive 18.08.2 on Windows7.

After your step 2 comes a message in the library window “select clips in the
timeline for library”. I cannot just set in/out points in the timeline and the
clips between in/out gets selected. Ones I select some clips in the timeline
your step 3 appears and the *.mlt file appears in the library window.

What do you do different to me?

FWIW, I haven't seen this error once while using `ffplay` on ppc64 with the
same GPU, so I think this is some arch-specific weirdness. I no longer own an
x86_64 computer so I don't care any more anyway.
