I cannot interrupt the internet connection fast enough. `pkcon update` finishes
in 2 seconds.

> Does the problem go away if you clear your icon cache with `rm

Yes, that did help. Couldn't it had been done automatically? Or would also
changing icon pack to something else and back solve this?

[bugs.kde.org] [Bug 402789] Switch to Gitlab for code and issue tracking

At this time the evaluation work is being done with a small number of test
projects (those listed at https://invent.kde.org/kde/) and the feedback
collected from them is being held privately.

We're doing this to allow us to solve KDE workflow specific issues with Gitlab
without having those not involved in actually working with it so far (in our
implementation) from bringing things up.

As time goes on we may bring other projects on board to help with testing and
evaluating it, and prior to any switch there will be a full public discussion.

System Settings vs Okular

SUMMARY
In System Settings, the margins for list items in the Sidebar View are much
larger than similarly sized sidebar buttons in Qt Widget applications like
Okular.

The list item height in SySe is 43px with 22px icons while the sidebar buttons
in Okular are 42px high with 32px icons. The fact that the list items in SySe
are 43px high also makes the icon and text slightly off center.

Very strange.

/usr/bin/snap exists. It's in your $PATH. Yet `which` can't find it, and
neither can anything else.

I have no idea what could be causing this.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 403255] New: Screenlock prevented by kdialog on read-only filesystem

2019-01-15 Thread Leonard Lausen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403255

Bug ID: 403255
Summary: Screenlock prevented by kdialog on read-only
filesystem
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: l-softw...@lausen.nl
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY If .config/kscreenlocker_greetrc is not writable (eg. due to emergency
remount of the partition as read-only) and the user attempts to lock the
screen, a dialogue containing: 'Configuration file
"/home/leonard/.config/kscreenlocker_greetrc" not writable. Please contact your
system administrator.' will popup and the system will freeze. It is not
possible to close the dialog, neither does the lock screen show up.

Logging in on tty and issuing `killall kdialog` closes the dialog. Switching
back to X session, the lock screen shows up. Unlocking the system works fine.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. mount -o remount,ro /home
2. Lock screen

OBSERVED RESULT
System hangs with dialog message 'Configuration file
"/home/leonard/.config/kscreenlocker_greetrc" not writable. Please contact your
system administrator.' open.

EXPECTED RESULT
Screen is locked. Dialog with warning may/should be opened, but should not
block screen locking process and cause system hang.

Fix premature firing of allInitialized signal
In case this is in fact the first backend to be added, and also
happens to be pre-filled, we still need for the rest of the
backends to be added before trying to send out the initialized
signal. To ensure this happens, this patch schedules it for the
start of the next run of the event loop, and ensures that it
only happens if there are no more backends to initialise.

Specifically, this happens if e.g. the fwupd backend is the
first to be initialised, and results in (amongst other things)
that the application loads up and insists that there are no
application backends.

So, just for the test, I've just removed fwupd.
Discover opened up and works as expected. Since I got updates today by cli, the
update list is empty.

I'll wait for a few updates to appear and then try the whole thing again,
without fwupd, check if the problem pops up again?

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 403250] New: QFileDialog::getOpenFileName() doesn't show UDisks drives in a places panel

2019-01-15 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403250

Bug ID: 403250
   Summary: QFileDialog::getOpenFileName() doesn't show UDisks
drives in a places panel
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: 5.54.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Places
  Assignee: fa...@kde.org
  Reporter: equ...@gmail.com
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If you open QFileDialog in KDE (which uses KFileWidget internally, I believe)
via QFileDialog::getOpenFileName() it doesn't show UDisks drivers. If use
QFileDialog::getOpenFileUrl(), it shows them. I did some research and
discovered this is due to the fact that QFileDialog::getOpenFileName() does
setSupportedSchemes({"file"}) (likely to show only local files) and KFileWidget
shows UDisks drives only if supportedSchemes is empty because device bookmarks
don't have an URL attached to them.
See:
https://github.com/KDE/kio/blob/master/src/filewidgets/kfileplacesmodel.cpp#L680
https://github.com/KDE/kio/blob/master/src/filewidgets/kfileplacesmodel.cpp#L699
https://github.com/KDE/kio/blob/master/src/filewidgets/kfileplacesitem.cpp#L328

I'm not sure if this is intented behaviour, but some programs use
QFileDialog::getOpenFileName() to open files (e.g. qBittorrent) and this is
quite annoying.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a QFileDialog using QFileDialog::getOpenFileName() or call
setSupportedSchemes({"file"}) on it manually.

OBSERVED RESULT
No UDisks drives in a sidebar

EXPECTED RESULT
There should UDisks drivers in a sidebar, since they are local and thus should
be shown by QFileDialog::getOpenFileName().

Only that this is not a selection, this is an highlight annotation, widget
styles don't have the concept of "highlight annotation", so no this has nothing
to do with "The visual style".

On top of that what you're seeing is not rendered by Okular but by Poppler, the
ones rendered by Okular (i.e. non pdf file highlights) have square corners.

No, its not the same setting.

If i use

Check View > Page Width
Uncheck View > Continuous

In Evince, and if i scroll down the page. I stop at the bottom of the page how
matter much i scroll. Only pressing a bottom (next) or arrow (next) will let me
go to the next page. This is what i want. This is not the case in okular, here
i scroll down to the next page like it was Continuous mode.

Expose option to disable KWallet passwords storage

Summary:
Option "noWallet" was already supported in the code,
but was not visible in the configuration UI. This
option is useful on headless servers where you don't
really have a way to enter password to unlock the wallet.

CHANGELOG: Add an option to store passwords without using KDE Wallet
FIXED-IN: 19.04.0

Test Plan: Enable option, restart krfb, ensure that passwords are now in
~/.config/krfbrc. Disable option, restart krfb, see that passwords are no
longer in krfbrc.
