Interesting: the initial state of the sidepanel fonts is "corrupted". When I
scroll *down* to the end they suddenly are OK. When I then scroll *up* to the
end, they get corrupted again. Between the endpoints they stay either corrupted
or OK.

[Plasma Vault] [Bug 396621] Add option to allow root (or other user) to access the opened vault

2019-05-09 Thread Ivan Čukić

Note to users who stumble on this report:

There is *no* guarantee that the custom mounting options will be available in
the future. I don't plan to remove this feature, but the backends might choose
(I've heard it through the grapevine) to stop accepting options for FUSE.

Use this carfully.

Yikes, can reproduce with Qt 5.12.3... but not with 5.12.0.

This points to it being a Qt regression, urgh. Can you please report it to
them? Then please paste the URL of the Qt bug report into a comment in this

The ability to resize the Application Launcher has been removed. This was
never actually intentional behavior, because it causes issues like the kinds
you're seeing. The good news is that the Application Launcher has also been
made more space-efficient in the latest Plasma versions, so hopefully your
reason for wanting to resize it will be reduced once you upgrade. :)

Bug ID: 407372
   Summary: Need help-donate-[currency] icons
   Product: Breeze
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Icons
  Assignee: visual-des...@kde.org
  Reporter: n...@kde.org
CC: kain...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

A feature is under development that allows the "Donate" menu item to display an
icon that depicts the user's own currency. For example a user with the en_US
locale would see the icon help-donate-USD, which presumably would have a dollar
sign in it.

If no suitable locale-specific icon is available, it falls back to help-donate,
which currently depicts a dollar sign. My suggestion is to change that to
something more generic and optionally whimsical or amusing, such as a treasure
chest or bag of gold coins.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 407370] New: Scale Display messes up Window Borders

2019-05-09 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407370

Bug ID: 407370
Summary: Scale Display messes up Window Borders
   Product: frameworks-plasma
   Version: 5.57.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: libplasma

  Reporter: tylereli...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 119938
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=119938=edit
Image of the borders on the side

Note: I wasn't sure where to put this bug. Odds are I put it in the wrong
category so please move it to the one you see fit.

The desired result would be a No Borders, as I have selected in the Border Size
settings.

I've tried duckducking the problem but with no success. This bug occurs on all
Window Decorations, except Breeze, that one works fine.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to "Display and Monitor -> Displays -> Scale Display" and set it to 1.5
2. Go to "Application Style -> Window Decorations -> Theme"
3. Select any other theme then Breeze, I tried the Breezemite and Sweet ones
from the KDE store
4. Apply these changes, reboot to make the 1.5 scaling take effect

OBSERVED RESULT: The image I have attached will show you what it looks like.
Thick borders all around.

EXPECTED RESULT: No borders at all for the windows

[clazy] [Bug 407321] clazy-qvariant-template-instantiation: don't warn about type aliases

2019-05-09 Thread Sergio Martins
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407321

Git commit 52c35819162bd23b3b4e406784fa5cbc17cedfcc by Sergio Martins.
Committed on 09/05/2019 at 19:10.
Pushed by smartins into branch 'master'.

qvariant-template-instantiation: Move out of level 0, since it has
false-positives

This check has really been noise since its creation. The rate of
false-positives
don't justify the insignificant compilation performance gains. Moved to manual
level now.

Currently it has a bug, which doesn't seem possible to solve,
as the instantiated template doesn't carry over the information about the
qint32 typedef.
And the CallExpr doesn't have any template related getters.

Also removed this check from the "performance" category in checks.json, since
this category is for runtime performance.

[KScreen] [Bug 398460] Screen hotplug not working under Wayland

2019-05-09 Thread Jan Kundrát
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398460

I'm getting this behavior on a Thinkpad T460s with kernel 5.1.0, Qt 5.13 from
git, and this week's Plasma from latest git. I checked output of
`kscreen-console`, and no additional screens were listed there. I have not seen
any relevant message in output of `journalctl -f`.

Do you need more information? Is this supposed to be working? How do I debug
this?

By the way, GUI running as normal user wouldn't fix it. All operations are
still done with root privileges, e.g. sfdisk or mkfs.ext4 runs as root.

Ah, now I understand what you meant. I didn't see yet any media with forced
subtitles (as far as I'm aware of), except for those movies where the forced
subtitle were actually added as an overlay directly at the video itself.

The question here is how to properly identify when those are present. for DVD
we shurelly need support at libVlc - with currently only exposes a subtitle
name. If it does a good work of using an uniquely identifier at the subtitle's
name, then it is doable. Otherwise libVlc needs to be patched first to add some
way for apps to enum such kind of subtitles - or expose a flag to allow
identify them at the standard subtitles enumeration way.

Having that, enabling support for it shouldn't be hard.

In principle I can run chown after creating the partition. But the question is
why is this partition manager's job.

Shouldn't it be the job of whatever mounts the new partition (Solid?).

Let's say user A has two computers, on one computer his UID is 1000, on
another, 1001.

If the user formats USB stick with Ext4 on the first computer, that user won't
have permissions on the other computer. Shouldn't this be done while mounting
from e.g. Dolphin/Plasma?

I think you got me wrong. What I meant was: If you watch a Movie in it's
original language (let it be english) and there is just one dialogue in a
different language (let it be Klingon -> Star Trek) - the viewer probably wants
to understand what they are saying. So it would be nice, if one could only
enable the useful subtitle parts (called "forced subtitles"). One may not want
to enable the full subtitle and have it ruin the rest of the movie for just one
scene of Klingon, don't you think?

I actually added a notice to the OSD, when displaying the title. It should
disappear after 2,5 seconds. Forcing the user to confirm doesn't sound a good
idea to me.

>
> Maybe now is the time for a feature request, because this is probably the
> wrong place, but:
> Is there a way to show only forced subtitles on DVD's with multiple foreign

> application with this feature apart from SMPlayer, GNOME Videos and Parole
> where only the first is working with KDE Plasma. But neither has good
> support for starting playback from within KDE Plasma. Even VLC does not
> support it.

Maybe it is doable. I mean, Kaffeine receives the list of audio and subtitles
when it starts playing. So, in thesis, it would be possible to add some logic
that would try to use the preferred language. The hardest part would be to
define an interface for the user to input what languages it prefers and if he
prefers original audio or not.

There is a problem, though: it will be just a hint, as language support is
limited to some input sources and may either be written as free text or an ISO
code. For Digital TV, Kaffeine uses the ISO code, parsed directly from the
video stream, with is very reliable (if the operator fills it - some just write
things like ORG and NAR, with are not really language codes), but for other
sources like DVD, it will receive just a string from libVlc, parsed using some
other logic. So, the same language will have different names, depending on the
source and on the media. Having a logic that would recognize different patterns
and also include language variants (like US and UK English) would likely
require several tests with different medias and a lot of time to get it right.

So, I don't think it is worth implementing it (and I probably won't have
anytime soon to code it). Anyway, if you want this feature so badly, feel free
to implement it and submit us patches. As I said, the code changes wouldn't
probably be hard. The major issue is to define a good interface for asking it
to the user and to work and test an heuristics logic that will try to match the
language with a string that won't be using ISO language codes.

The AST for v.value() is the same as v.value() :/

getting the used typedef usually works, but in this case (with templates) I'm
not seeing how. I guess because the compiler instantiates the value
template directly, discarding the original typedef info.

Will have to parse what's inside < and > manually

It works, thank you! I think most people will not know what to do, if the mouse
is not working in the menu. The easiest fix for them is to switch to another
player. Is there a way to make this behaviour more obvious? An initial overlay
might suffice: "Use the Arrow Keys to navigate and Enter to confirm.". What do
you think?

Maybe now is the time for a feature request, because this is probably the wrong
place, but:
Is there a way to show only forced subtitles on DVD's with multiple foreign
languages like Game Of Thrones for example? -> There is no good DVD playback
application with this feature apart from SMPlayer, GNOME Videos and Parole
where only the first is working with KDE Plasma. But neither has good support
for starting playback from within KDE Plasma. Even VLC does not support it.

Does the same thing happen if you search for it using KRunner, which can be

What version of Spectacle are you using? I'm pretty sure this was fixed a
loong time ago, but Linux Mint has a tendency to ship really old versions
of software.

That's something that the Linux Mint people would need to do. We have no input
over their packaging decisions.

This is probably a side effect of running the whole app as root. Now that
partition manager uses polkit, hopefully that will fix or alleviate the issue.
If not, it really should explicitly return ownership of the new partition to
the user who has just made it.

Fixed in later versions of Dolphin and Baloo. The versions you're using are
more than a year old. I recommend upgrading to Kubuntu 19.04 if you can.

Yeah that's because this sidebar currently has a hardcoded width. It should
probably auto-size itself to the longest string in the model (within reason)

I think you forgot to describe what the problems were. Please see
https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting, and then update the bug
report to describe the issuess.

Also, try using a more recent version of Plasma. The version (5.8) shipped with
Stretch is ancient.
