[konsole] [Bug 407447] Global shortcut for toggling visibility of Konsole

2019-05-12 Thread jmu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407447

--- Comment #5 from jmu  ---
After years of using Yakuake I started to look Konsole again because I felt
that Yakuake is no longer under active development whereas Konsole is(?) For
example, I've been often bit by this issues:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356853
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386350 (duplicate)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392929 (duplicate)

Which still exists, despite being reported years ago. And that is certainly
something I don't know how to fix by myself.

But thanks for the comments - I will also look into code editor terminals (like
VS Code) that does provide functionality I'm after.

Feel free to close this issue if you find it differentiating Konsole's vision.

--- Comment #1 from Nate Graham  ---
This was changed back to the old style in 19.04, and now it's in the corner
again so it doesn't impede your view.

I feel like it would be even more annoying if they didn't time out. The "search
wrapped" message for example. If that didn't time out on its own, it would be
just sitting there annoying you until you remembered to dismiss it.

Also I think this may be the first time I've heard an animated fade-out
compared to "Chinese water torture." :)

--- Comment #2 from Nate Graham  ---
I'm looking into this, and that's the rub. Adding "Continuous" into the submenu
is pretty trivial:

diff --git a/ui/pageview.cpp b/ui/pageview.cpp
index 59f9565e5..9a5028789 100644
--- a/ui/pageview.cpp

 connect( d->aViewContinuous, ::toggled, this,
::slotContinuousToggled );
 d->aViewContinuous->setChecked( Okular::Settings::viewContinuous() );
+d->aViewMode->addSeparator();
+d->aViewMode->addAction( d->aViewContinuous );

 // Mouse mode actions for viewer mode
 d->mouseModeActionGroup = new QActionGroup( this );

Making sure it doesn't appear in the submenu when the submenu is in the menubar
is trickier. If you have a patch ready, feel free to submit it with [RFC] in
the title, making it clear in the description that you're asking for
assistance.

Very odd indeed. Either way, like you I would expect KRunner to match on the
first letter rather than using a three-character minimum.

I think this may be intentional (whether or not it's optimal is another
story!); Kai, can you maybe shed some light on the history of this behavior?

This makes the most sense in a list view, where the up and down arrow keys can
be used to select any file. In icons view, it makes less sense since the left
and right arrow keys are required for navigation there, but those need to be
used in the filter text field for text editing. I suppose we could add a
special non-optimal icon view navigation mode where the up and down arrow keys
go left and right instead, and take advantage of the fact that left and right
wrap aroung to the next/previous rows.

I don't understand why the following happens:

If I search for "o" then "GNU Octave" will be displayed.
If I search for "oc" then "GNU Octave" won't be displayed.
If I search for "or" then "GNU Octave" won't be displayed, but the .desktop
file starts with "or" (org.octave.Octave.desktop).
If I search for "oct" then "GNU Octave" will be displayed.

Created attachment 120026

html mail with two images embeded.

There is one question, how we should handle forwards with embedded images.
We have a testcase with two images embedded (see attachment), that are added to
the forwarded message. IMO this is not a security issue, as we do not parse
those two images (aka do not encrypt them) and just copy them like they were
sent over the wire. So we can't leak private information.

I added the .desktop file as an attachment.

The same behaviour can also be found e.g. with "GNU Octave" (whose .desktop is
org.octave.Octave.desktop on Arch Linux) or with "Neovim" (whose .desktop file
is nvim.desktop on Arch Linux. In this case "n" will show Neovim because
nvim.desktop starts with "n", but "ne" won't display it as a result and "nv"
will display it).

I don't know... But it would be good to know opinion of more people on who
should change permissions.

Maybe solid people would think that we shouldn't change permissions when we
mount external devices in solid.

Do you know who maintains Solid? Maybe we can add them to CC on this bug and
ask what they think?

SUMMARY
Search dialog hides the KrViewer opened from it.
When you search in a directory and open KrViewer (by pressing F3 or F4) on one
of the resulting files, then the viewer window opens BEHIND the search dialog
instead of above it. The focus and cursor move to the KrViewer window, yet the
search dialog still appears above it. The search dialog acts as if its 'always
on top' property was switched on.
The error appeared when I updated from Ubuntu 18.10 to 19.04

This is only half of the fix. When closing the plasma session and reopening,
all tabs except one are still showing ":-" as their title. Additionally those
tabs are losing their path where they were in filesystem. If the tabs are
activated, the path and title are restored. If not, and the plasma session is
closed again, the path is lost after reopening a new session. When the tabs are
activated, the path is located in the home directory of the user.
