It's not related to Krusader. We just call kdiff3 with file paths as parameters
every time you invoke this function. I think it's related to KDE4 -> KF5
migration and password caching. Moving to kdiff3 to check if they support this
scenario.

[plasmashell] [Bug 408674] New: Plasma 5.16 causing graphical glitches and corruptions

2019-06-13 Thread Chris Raven
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408674

Bug ID: 408674
Summary: Plasma 5.16 causing graphical glitches and corruptions
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.16.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: ch...@magentium.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY:
After upgrading to Plasma 5.16 last night, the system has become sluggish and
unresponsive. Any animation which includes a Fade or Blur seems to flicker
whilst completing the animation, and the Blur created by Latte Dock, Konsole,
and Menu bars is over saturated causing extremely dark backgrounds.

Disabling Fading popups causes the animations of windows to be a little better,
and the issue with the Background Blur only seems to occur if KVantum is used.
Changing the window type from KVantum back to Breeze and rebooting seems to fix
the Blur issues, but the animations are still extremely jagged and not smooth
at all.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux with Plasma 5.16.0 running on 5.1.9.arch1-1 kernel
(but kernel change makes no difference) using the built in modset drivers for
Intel HD 620 Graphics.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- I've attempted to re-install the Plasma 5.16 packages, but this didn't change
anything. I've also cleared the .cache folder, but this also did not fix the
fault.

Thanks very much! I notice that even GIMP has trouble with that image. It opens

It seems like there may be something malformed with these files in question. I
would reccommand filing a bug with the authors of the software used to create
it. Thanks!

provider is image, the "thin line" is visible in the preview but it doesn't

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 408672] New: feature request: translate feature to plasma desktop

2019-06-13 Thread rodrigobarros
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408672

Bug ID: 408672
Summary: feature request: translate feature to plasma desktop
   Product: kdeplasma-addons
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: rodrigogeni...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hi all,
Recently I was browsing on interwebs and I fall in folling site:
http://www.webupd8.org/2016/03/translate-any-text-you-select-on-your.html , in
this site there an script to make translation but when triyng to test the
script sadly I discover that not working anymore, but I don't care in start and
with a library of python I tried to make a similar script with relative
success, I know that my chances of success of my feature request was accept but
I have to try.

so basically the script/feature could work this way when you select the text
you trigger a combination of your keyboard and the selected text goes searched
on the web and could appear an box with the meaning of selected text like the
example of video[1].
So you could asking why develop this feature if already exist similar
extensions for the translate unknow words of foreign languages like demonstrate
in this another video[2], well this extension works only in browsers as I know
at least, still not exist an feature to translate words of any application of
your system like okular, libreoffice writer and so on, well my point is if this
feature its add to the project students of another language will learn foreign
languages with more easing without open a browser to translate unknow words.

Final thoughts:

off couse that I asking for this feature cause the developers od kde team can
add more feature such select the destination language to translate the text or
maybe add the meaning of the words and so on.
I hope that if my idea is not chosen this time at least this idea could be used
in a close future, thanks for your time.

Now I found it after a hard search. Maybe the button can be made a bit larger
and I propose to label it "Advanced". I mean the Recalculate button has also an
icon AND a label so that you know immediately what the button is about.

Therefore I reopened the bug as enhancement.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Automatic moving of cards is not working correctly. After playing the last
card in freecell, I frequently have to double-click on a card to get the
auto-play to start, and then it will stop in the middle. It also has issues in
the middle of the game, and sometimes this leads to a system hang, requiring a
hard-power-reset.

[kwin] [Bug 408668] New: Hardware acceleration does not work in kwin_wayland

2019-06-13 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 408668
Summary: Hardware acceleration does not work in kwin_wayland
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.14.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: eug...@shatsky.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Hardware acceleration does not work in kwin_wayland.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Launch kwin_wayland, directly or via dbus-run-session startplasmacompositor,
run some apps.

OBSERVED RESULT
High CPU usage, low FPS, capable apps reporting llvmpipe driver being used.

EXPECTED RESULT
High performance similar to kwin_x11 or weston, with no noticeable CPU usage in
non-demanding apps, GPU-specific GL driver being used by apps.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: NixOS 19.03.172866.4649b6ef4b5
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
Qt Version: 5.12.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Kernel Version: 4.19.49
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 4 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1225 V2 @ 3.20GHz
Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This problem may be specific to NixOS with its non-canonical filesystem
hierarchy, however I think there should be at least some code to log useful
info about whatever steps required to use hardware acceleration and make it
available to clients have failed. I've tried various args and env vars, didn't
get anything.
I've also tried running apps under kwin_wayland with env captured in weston, no
luck.
I noticed that unlike weston and kwin_x11, kwin_wayland has its /proc//
contents owned by root. Probably capabilities related, not sure if it matters.
/dev/dri/card0 is opened, as expected.
I've got 2nd GPU in my system, but it's blacklisted and passed to VM.

Bug ID: 408667
Summary: In reverse geocoding, whow which address element
correspond to each name
   Product: digikam
   Version: 6.2.0
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Priority: NOR

Reverse geocoding tool, showing the corresponding full tag tree for a picture

SUMMARY

In the reverse geocoding tool, you can select which address elements you want
to use to tag your pictures. However, often not all elements are available, and
digikam will only show you those that found.

In order to fine tune which elements are which, and fine-tune the structure, it
would be useful if it indicated which address element a specific place is,
either by hovering your mouse over it, or displaying it next to the name. (e.g.
hovering over the word "New York City" you should see "{City}".

See the attached screenshot. I basically would like to know which of the words
in Green correspond to the words in Red.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Reverse-geolocate a picture using all address elements.
2. Observe the results in the tool's tree view.

[digikam] [Bug 408666] New: Reverse geocoding tool, confusing dialog question phrasing

2019-06-13 Thread IWBR
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408666

Bug ID: 408666
Summary: Reverse geocoding tool, confusing dialog question
phrasing
   Product: digikam
   Version: 6.2.0
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Geolocation-ReverseGeoCoding
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 120851
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=120851=edit
Screen capture of said dialog screen

SUMMARY

In the reverse geocoding tool, when cancelling the tagging process before
finishing, a dialog asks whether you want to keep tags in pictures so far, or
if you want to discard all of them, and the possible answers: Yes or No. (see
attachment)

Either change the buttons to something like (Keep and Discard) or rephrase the
text so it's a yes/no question.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enter the reverse-geotagging panel in the Geolocation tool.
2. Start tagging some pictures.
3. Cancel the process before finishing.

[plasmashell] [Bug 408665] New: KDE plasma desktop crash while formatting usb drive to ntfs

2019-06-13 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408665

Bug ID: 408665
Summary: KDE plasma desktop crash while formatting usb drive to
ntfs
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Desktop Containment
  Assignee: se...@kde.org
  Reporter: b.raz...@gmail.com

  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 120850
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=120850=edit
Traceback log of desktop crash

SUMMARY
I'm not exactly sure what caused the desktop to crash, as I had several
applications running, including konsole, firefox, dolphin, and
gnome-disk-utility, which I was using to format a usb thumbdrive to store some
files. I am running kubuntu 19.04 and I am fully up to date with all available
software updates. I have not been using kubuntu very long, only having it
installed about a week, and in that time I have not experienced any bugs using
the gnome-disk-util to format any other partitions or mount storage etc. The
reason for using this usbdrive is because my unencrypted windows ntfs partition
will not mount in RW, even when running mount in konsole as su, but, its
possible that the cause is my current dual-boot setup, I may have made a
mistake setting it up. Although, it also seems like kubuntu may have a problem
with ntfs in general.
To get back to the topic at hand, please see the attached system traceback for
more precise information about the issue.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE (possibly?)
1. On an up-to-date 19.04 kde desktop
2. Install and run gnome-disk-utility
3. Attempt to format a usb thumbdrive to ntfs

OBSERVED RESULT
The desktop began to flicker and fade midway through the formatting process, it
was very obvious that it was experiencing an error. The desktop eventually
stopped flickering and killed its process, and it started back-up quickly
without error, displaying the crash notification in the system tray. Although,
it seems like it formatted my usb alright, as I was able to store files on it
afterwards.

EXPECTED RESULT
The desktop not doing that.

I was able to reproduce the issue, it happens when CPU or GPU is under heavy

high CPU usage from kwin and plasmashell.

Can confirm it used to work as expected in 5.15, only encountered this issue
after an upgrade to 5.16.

Looking at the referenced bug, perhaps this behavior should be limited to the
`file` protocol - I'm assuming it was unintentional to have this apply to
HTTP/FTP/etc.
