[frameworks-sonnet] [Bug 376974] sonnet should not just add regions to languages

I looked at QLocale and indeed, they just
throw in some ‘most appropriate’ country instead of leaving the country open
(AnyCountry). That is just madness. This is an upstream, Qt bug, I would say.

Sounds like a good plan; thank you for your efforts. (I would consider it a
workaround for the bad Qt behavior, but that'll be more difficult to correct.)

Sorry I sent my previous comment too soon and it had a couple of typos, here's
the correct one:

Here's a screenshot of the issue (instead of video as it's quicker). Steps that
I did:

I opened ktuberling, pressed Ctrl+S to save, named: asdf. Closed ktuberling.

Then I did the same steps again. Of course ktuberling tells me that "asdf"
already exists now; but note that it's not displayed in the dialog as it

I tested again in various distributions. My conclusion is that to reproduce the
issue, one just needs to install ktuberling in any **non-KDE** distribution.

Ubuntu Mate 20.04, ktuberling 4:19.08.3-0ubuntu1: FAILS
Kubuntu 20.04, ktuberling 4:19.08.3-0ubuntu1: WORKS
Kubuntu 18.04, ktuberling 4:17.12.3-0ubuntu1: WORKS
Fedora XFCE 30, ktuberling 19.04.2-1: FAILS

So I guess it's a problem with missing dependencies or with Qt/GNOME
integration or something. Nevertheless, ktuberling doesn't show any warnings in
stderr about missing things.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 408813] Provide option to not prefix file:// when copying

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408813

Hello and thanks for this work. But it seems you have devised a solution for
only pasting in Konsole.

If you will see my post, I also refer to GTK file dialogs etc, which aren't
under your control. So the correct approach would be to avoid the prefix at the
time of copying, and not pasting in one particular application. That's why I
filed the bug against the frameworks and not even just Dolphin.

Please see the bug #170608 fixed ten years back which directly omits the
file:// prefix at the time of copying.

Yep, that's the change. Looks like it was me lol.

The problem here is that you can set any number of global shortcuts, but the
Shortcuts KCM only displays the first two. I set Meta+Space as the third one,
so it's not visible in the UI. As a workaround, you can remove the shortcut
from the X-KDE-Shortcuts key of /usr/share/kglobalaccel/krunner.desktop.

The ultimate fix should be made in the Shortcuts KCM: if an action currently
has more than two shortcuts bound to it, the 3rd and any additional shortcuts
should be visible and unassignable in the UI. Marking this as a duplicate of
the bug report tracking that issue.

[frameworks-sonnet] [Bug 376974] sonnet should not just add regions to languages

2019-11-24 Thread Waqar Ahmed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376974

> It is a bug, i.e., how sonnet currently works is not correct.

Hi, apologies, going through the code again I realize that this is indeed a
bug.

Sonnet uses 'iso codes' and depends on 'QLocale' to find out the language name
and country. So for e.g., if you have a dictionary name 'fr-', Sonnet will
take the `` away and mark it as the dictionary variant. Then sonnet will
feed 'fr' (the iso code) into QLocale and ask it for language name(full lang
name) and country name.

In the above mentioned case, the result will be "francais (France)". If you
rename your dictionary to fr_CA, you will get a different result.

This does lead to some problems for e.g., with 'Arabic'. If the 'iso code' is
'ar', it always returns "Arabic - Egypt" or with 'en', English-United States.

The solution is quite simple. If the length of the iso code is less than 3, we
ask QLocale for a country name.

I will fix it in downstream, QOwnNotes and see how it works out. If it doesn't
give any problems, I will push the changes here.

Same on Chakra Linux.

KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.64.0
Qt Version: 5.13.2

In my case kdiff3 does not always crash, but only if comparing directories
containing many or huge files. I also did not get the segmentation fault.

And kdiff3 actually more often hangs than crashes. If it hangs this can happen
at any moment of comparison, at 17%, 50% or even 99%.

All above said holds true for "Binary comparison".

Using "Fuall analysis" I got this output on crashing:
$ kdiff3
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc'
  what():  std::bad_alloc
KCrash: Application 'kdiff3' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/run/user/1000/kdeinit5__0

Using "Trust size and date but use binary ..." the output looked like that:
$ kdiff3
QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket 8 and type 'Read', disabling...
Unable to start Dr. Konqi
Re-raising signal for core dump handling.
The per-process limit on the number of open file descriptors has been reached.
ERROR: cannot create wakeup pipe

"Trust size" and "Trust size and modification date" worked fine.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 414120] Ring and photo not working in kdeconnect app when app is in background on Android 10.

2019-11-24 Thread FeRD
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414120

FeRD (Frank Dana) changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||ferd...@gmail.com

--- Comment #1 from FeRD (Frank Dana) ---
I took a shot at reworking FindMyPhoneActivity to make use of newer Android
APIs (on newer Android devices). The code should be considered a rough draft as
it almost certainly needs additional polish, but it at least compiles and runs
fine on Android 7 (which doesn't support those newer APIs, which makes it a
poor test, but it's the best I can do).

The code's in a branch on my GitHub fork of kdeconnect-android:
https://github.com/ferdnyc/kdeconnect-android/tree/findmyphone-api-refresh

I also created a PR in the KDE GitHub mirror (which was of course auto-closed,
but I just wanted to get the code up somewhere):
https://github.com/KDE/kdeconnect-android/pull/16

The text of that PR follows.

This is an update to the FindMyPhone plugin, attempting to make use of newer
APIs to more correctly manage audio playback on newer Android releases.
Highlights:

KDE Connect-wide

* Raise minSdkVersion from 14 to 21 (To access more recent APIs w/o lots of
legacy fallback.)
* Add WAKE_LOCK to permissions requested in manifest file.

FindMyPhoneActivity
---
* Use AudioAttributes to replace deprecated SetAudioStreamType()
* Request & manage audio focus, on Android 26+
* Prevent screen / CPU sleep during playback (using WAKE_LOCK)
* Prepare MediaPlayer asynchronously, and release() when done

I'll be honest, I wrote this code working off of API docs and code samples, but
I'm not supremely confident that it's all correct. It compiles with no
problems, and I built and installed it as an APK on my Android 7 phone, where
it worked just the same as the version installed from Google Play.

However, running on Android 7 means that most of the newer APIs (including
Audio Focus) aren't accessed, and I don't have a newer device to test on.
(Trying to run the app in an emulator failed, network-connectivity wise... I
ended up with GSConnect trying to pair with itself.)

So, I'm submitting this in case it might be useful, but I would be surprised if
it doesn't need at least some cleanup. It certainly needs testing on newer
devices, something I'm unable to do myself.

I see! That makes sense - modifying the StartupWMClass value does indeed cause

Always! But specially when copying or creating files in a NTFS filesystem shared
with Windows.
My experience is that it can indeed lead to data loss!
But why? Even if the NTFS file system doesn't usually accept those files being
created, Linux usually allows them to copied to such partition or even worse,
to be created, and nothing seems to happen, nothing seems to go wrong. But
that's not the reality.

The case is that I had the problem with those files. If that NTFS partition
ever needs to be checked with chkdsk any and all files that had invalid
filenames will go into the brink of being wiped. Granted that if all of them do
appear in the recovered found.000 folders, they will appear with a numerical
name and a .chk extension. If you happen to have created too many invalid files
like I did (and I tried to avoid it, mind you) you will have to go over quite a
high number of files (and folders!) that have lost their meaning because you
don't know where they belong and they lack a proper filename! And it is not
uncommon for Windows to prompt you to check external drives!

Now the trick here is what happens when you have a huge disk with lots of files
and folders and some files start giving "unreadable" or "read access" errors!
You must run chkdsk! The disk is just fine, but those invalid files seem to be
causing the problem when there are too many of them, as they are shown as
offenders in the chkdsk report!

The following reserved characters:

< (less than)
> (greater than)
: (colon)
" (double quote)
/ (forward slash)
\ (backslash)
| (vertical bar or pipe)
? (question mark)
* (asterisk)

Linux DOESNT forbid you from creating invalid filenames even on a NTFS
filesystem that is shared with Windows!
If you want to make a map named Dark Archons : the gathering the : character
will make that file go wrong on Windows, If you copy the file to an external
HDD with NTFS it will NOT give any warnings either!!!

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1976007/what-characters-are-forbidden-in-windows-and-linux-directory-names

Dolphin should definitely give a WARNING message when dealing with files that
have this kind of characters!
I could even create files with * | / ? or \ or even the line break (intro)
character!

--
SUMMARY

User Should definitely be warned every time an Invalid filename is used when it
comes to copying or creating a file!

Always!

BTW I really think we must put pressure so Microsoft Open Sources NTFS just as
they did with FAT32.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. right click and select create new file or folder
2. type any sort of garbage name, even with * / \ or even |
3. cut or copy the file anywhere! (specially NTFS partitions)

OBSERVED RESULT

No warning, no notice, you could loose those files without ever noticing!

EXPECTED RESULT

A propper warning should be given, even if mass copying.
This should be treated in the same way as when you have duplicated filenames,
Dolphin should allow renaming the offending file or folder!
It would be even better if it suggests a filename removing the offending
characters or even better if (when mass copying) there was an option to review
all the offending files (with a location list) later.

Paste urls of local files as a list of quoted strings

When pasting urls of local files, remove the the scheme part, "file://",
and paste the urls as a space-separated list of local file paths, which
are quoted as needed.

Commands such as cp, mv, ls... etc, don't understand/parse the file://
bit of local urls, therefore it's more useful to strip the scheme for local
files.

I didn't say about disabling all clips. This bug is about effects status on
particular clip. Added screenshot with button I'm referring to.

The basic support for having a nested chart has been implemented in
release/19.12 and could be part of 2.30 releases after fixing possible issues.
For the remaining stuff I suggest to open additional tickets, one for multiple
sub chart support and one for association to/from sub charts.

This does not solve the issue:
https://invent.kde.org/users/sign_in
allows you to login in 2 ways, one with the KDE identity and one with the
GitLab identity, see the attached screenshot. So I want to login using thee
GitLab account. if this is not possible, please remove this from the login page
or at least explain the users what "Standard" login means on the login page.

Hello Uwe,

the issue is that you need a KDE Identity to log into invent.kde.org.

KDE Identity is used for all the KDE service but bugs.kde.org.

You can create a new account here: https://identity.kde.org/

Cheers,

Have the same issue with KDE Neon 5.17.3 with latest packages. The software
versions are:

KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.64.0
Qt Version: 5.13.2
Kernel Version: 5.0.0.17-generic

The preview doesn't work in Kmail (also when Kmail is opened within Kontact),
opening the mail in new window shows the proper content. Changing Composer
setting didn't help. The graphics driver in use is i915.

Bug ID: 414475
Summary: cannot login to invent.kde.org using gitlab account
   Product: www.kde.org
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kde-...@kde.org
  Reporter: uwesto...@web.de
  Target Milestone: ---

I want to contribute to the KDE project LabPlot. It moved recently to Gitlab.
Therefore I created a Gitlab account and con log in successfully.

But I cannot login to
https://invent.kde.org/users/sign_in
On the login site I can switch between KDE identity and standard login. I
choose standard login to login using my Gitlab account.
But this doesn't work.

When using the credentials I used to create this bug report to login via the
KDE identity account, it also doesn't work.

So I see 2 issues:
- login must be possible using a normal GitLab account
- login to https://bugs.kde.org should work for all ***https://***.kde.org
pages

The extension "m2ts" is unknown to digiKam. You can add these in the digiKam

[digikam] [Bug 414473] New: Importing problem with M2Ts video files

2019-11-24 Thread FG
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414473

Bug ID: 414473
Summary: Importing problem with M2Ts video files
   Product: digikam
   Version: 6.4.0
  Platform: Other
OS: MS Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Import-Albums
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: fgenestc...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I have many m2ts ( videos from a 4K Sony camcorder) files to import in my
collections.

When i import the files few are sent to the right directory ( date taken based
) most of the are sent to a directory at the date of the upload form the camera
( done a few days ago with Sony display memories )

None of them are present in the database after the import.

I used

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get a few M2ts files in a directory a
2. Import images all, with directory a as source and collection XXX as
destination
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
1. With the file explorer.
   a) a few files are in the good directory ( 2_ok.m2ts )
   b) other files are not in the good directory (20181019055430_non_ok.m2ts)

2. none of the imported files are in the databse
3. none of the files are displayed in the XXX collection

EXPECTED RESULT

These should be stored in the good directory
 2_ok.m2ts in 2018-05-28 ( witch is ok )
20181019055430_non_ok.m2ts in 2018-10-19 (witch is non ok it is
getting to 2019-11-14 )
Be present in the database
Be displayed normaly in the album view

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I would have liked to includeds two sample files for testing but the tool limit
the file size to 4000 kb and the two files are 220 000 kb when zipped. I could
send them by another way on request.

The only hardcoded value is a page to open if connectivity check fails.

The ping is configured by your distro in your network manager config, see the
connectivity section. I don't think any distro would set that to kde? (Though

You absolutely are able to use Wayland.
Worst case run Kwin_compose=q before starting.

It is a bug, i.e., how sonnet currently works is not correct.

[digikam] [Bug 414401] RawTherapee does not work as Raw Import Tool if both are AppImages

2019-11-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414401

I tried crating the symlink.
But it is not opening RawTherapee, even though the symlink itself works if
executed from command line.

I installed RawTherapee from the repo and with the one from the repo everythin
worked.

Anyohow in /user/bin the installed repo RawTherapee version created two entries

rawtherapee
rawtherapee-cli

Or Digikam uses another binary link on ubuntu to execute RawTherapee.

But yes AppImages do have the benefit of being up to date, otherwise I would
still be using digikam 5.9 on my ubuntu 19.10 installation ;) and rawtherapee
5.6

Thanks for any help.
