[Spectacle] [Bug 416569] "Copy to clipboard" button is redundant if Spectacle is already configured to copy screenshots to clipboard

2020-01-22 Thread David Redondo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416569

--- Comment #2 from David Redondo  ---
Yes it's an interesting idea but after thinking about it I think it's nothing
we should do.
1. I can see people being confused why there's no cop button anymore thinking
spectacle is broken
2. If I take a screenshot and then copy something else to the clipboard I would
lose the ability to put that screenshot in my clipboard again without saving
So I think we should keept the Button

Windows does something similar but I believe only in certain areas, e.g. when
moving the cursor between screens at the top edge of the screen to accomodate
for hitting the window close button of maximized windows. Otherwise it would be
wildly annoying every time I want to move between screens to have some pressure
to overcome.

Ok, i'm almost sure that the problem is due to the openssl version shipped
within android 5.1 which is incompatible with the one we use for downloading.

I'm not really sure what is the best way to fix it. I've opened a task in our
phabricator: https://phabricator.kde.org/T12576
I'm closing this bug as the initial report is fixed.

2020-01-22 Thread Akshay Naik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416570

--- Comment #3 from Akshay Naik  ---
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2)

> Can you describe why this is a problem? You can just move the cursor back,
> right? Is moving the cursor a problem?

Consider the following common cursor based actions on a window displayed in the
left-side screen of a dual-monitor setup:

1. Closing/minimizing etc. a window using the right-most button on the
titlebar.
2. Quickly moving the cursor to the right to click/drag the scrollbar.

Users typically rely on quickly moving the cursor all the way to the right to
correctly place it over the required UI element without actually following the
cursor with their eyes(which would allow fine motor control-and also distract
from the task at hand). Not having a soft barrier between screens thus
negatively affects user experience.

Having Autoscroll will benefit users when browsing without having to adjust our
eyes and mouse to make an accurate click on the scrollbar. Middle Click + Drag
To Scroll is widely used in browsers and many of us got used to it for its
faster and easier workaround.

Thanks In Advance! =D

We can disable mute-on-click under a certain size, and decrease icon 10% and
click-area 20%.

Indicator should stay as it is IMO. It is helpful for every size. And cannot be
moved more into the corner, as it will overlap with the blue-bars/elements of
the breeze theme. (Indicator barely has any margin when mute.)

[digikam] [Bug 416630] New: Use N nearest neighbor search

2020-01-22 Thread Vitalii Tymchyshyn
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416630

Bug ID: 416630
   Summary: Use N nearest neighbor search
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.0.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Faces-Recognition
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: v...@tym.im
  Target Milestone: ---

Currently recognition match is done using an average of all matches to a given
person. This approach does not work well for people with high number of
examples done at different age / hair color / angle. What makes things worse
adding more examples usually makes matching worse as it means there are always
distant examples outnumbering near ones.

I tried nearest neighbor and it's pretty noise. What works best for me is to
take average of N nearest examples (I tried 5 and 10). It eliminates noise yet
finding great matches.

Another change that gave me good results is using adjusted cosine distance
instead of regular one: each feature is normalized by it's mean across whole
example database. E.g. if feature mean is high (e.g. 0.6), it does not have
much effect on cosine as almost all vectors would be pointing into "positive"
direction, while adjusted (n-0.6) will have vectors pointing into different
sides providing meaningful input. It reduces overall similarly (I have to use
0.7 instead of 0.8-0.9 to find examples), but general quality seems better.

Note that I did not do a formal accuracy check for both changes yet. Tried to
do it fast, but libraries produce "accuracy" that is low and rarely applicable
as it does not take into account accuracy threshold (drop everything with match
less than T)

[Discover] [Bug 416624] Discover freezes when retrieving updates

2020-01-22 Thread Doug
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416624

--- Comment #2 from Doug  ---
Another update came through, so I was able to try again. The app's user
interface did not actually freeze. I could click on "Applications" in the
sidebar and look at applications. When I clicked on "Update" in the
sidebar, it went back to the update page, while still at least appearing
stuck. Again, I tried to take a screenshot with Spectacle, and the process
immediately unfroze and revealed the updates. I did get this weird
screenshot with multiple layers transparent over each other. Don't know if
that means anything, though.

--- Comment #1 from Filip Fila  ---
I can reproduce this. There's 4 problems that I can see:

- the menu doesn't close when entering a different plasmoid
- the menu doesn't close when clicking anywhere in the plasmoid
(I was able to get it working by messing with the size of the plasmoid)
- the menu doesn't close when clicking on the overflow menu icon
- when resizing the plasmoid hovering over menu items is broken
(can be unfrozen by overscrolling the contents of the plasmoid)

[IMO the overscroll should patched out though, other plasmoids don't do that
and we've been moving away from it on the desktop.]

This particular issue has been fixed(?) in the latest nightly. The Cage and the
Warp transform still does not work, but the content disappearing is gone.
I should've made a separated bug report, but there's that. :/ Sorry...

After I logged out from another session and again clicked "Switch User" I got
proper screen, where I was able actual switch back to my currently working
Plasma session. This didn't look like normal sddm login screen what I saw at
very first time.

Worth to add that after failed loading Plasma, which I killed before, when I
finally switch to my session and here I try to turn off PC, it just doesn't
work. Just after clicking "Shut Down" happens nothing.

[plasmashell] [Bug 416557] Screen after "Switch User" option shows normal login screen with currently logged user

2020-01-22 Thread Piotr Mierzwinski
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416557

--- Comment #5 from Piotr Mierzwinski  ---
I use Antergos, which became the Arch Linux.
I turn on my PC, login into my user and after some time I use "Switch User"
option. Now trying back to currently working session (because I changed my
mind) on login screen I click into my self and try to login. In result Plasma
started loading again, and in the middle just stop (any black screen doesn't
happen). I just kill it by Ctrl+Alt+Backspace.
To be able to back to my session I need to actual switch to another user, and
then I can back to my session. And then I get proper screen with button "switch
to this session" (or something similar). I hope now is more clear.

Anyway I relogin myself trying to retest new updated configuration.
I added suggested parameter to both mentioned configuration files. Like this:

/etc/sddm.conf
[Theme]
CursorTheme=Adwaita

[X11]
EnableHiDPI=false
reuseSession=true

/etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf
[Autologin]
Relogin=false
Session=
User=

[General]
HaltCommand=/usr/bin/systemctl poweroff
RebootCommand=/usr/bin/systemctl reboot
reuseSession=true

[Theme]
Current=charlie

[X11]
EnableHiDPI=true

[XDisplay]
# Xsetup script path
# A script to execute when starting the display server
DisplayCommand=/usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup

[Users]
MaximumUid=6
MinimumUid=1000
reuseSession=true

Unfortunately it changed nothing. Again after I used "Switch User" I got normal
sddm login screen and when I chose my self then Plasma again started loading.

I use sddm in version 0.18.1

Let's make sure we're talking about the same issue here. You're reporting that
when you log in as yourself using the SDDM login screen and there is an
existing session for your user, Plasma hangs at a black screen? Or it logs in
as you successfully, but in a new session rather than re-using the existing
session?

What distro are you using?

> Sorry, it's "reuseSession=true". It's also set by default in SDDM, so I

> Can you check on that?

Below please find my config (placed: /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf):
Autologin]
Relogin=false
Session=
User=

[General]
HaltCommand=/usr/bin/systemctl poweroff
RebootCommand=/usr/bin/systemctl reboot

[Theme]
Current=charlie

[X11]
EnableHiDPI=true

[XDisplay]
# Xsetup script path
# A script to execute when starting the display server
DisplayCommand=/usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup

[Users]
MaximumUid=6
MinimumUid=1000

I have also other sddm config placed in /etc and calling sddm.conf with such
content:
[Theme]
CursorTheme=Adwaita

[X11]
EnableHiDPI=false

I'm not sure if this second one is used, but for sure is used this previous
one. I changed theme there (on charlie) and it was working.

Anyway I don't see in both any overwritten "reuseSession" parameter.

And as for Xsetup script. It only turn off (by xrandr command) not necessary
display for sddm. This is work around for not working support multi monitors (I
reported issue to sddm authors) couple weeks ago, but no answer till now.
Please note that without this turned off screen I can see two login screens -
one covers the other. There are two, because one display has higher resolution
and the other lower and are display both. I tried to fix theme itself, but I'm
not so familiar with qml and themes for sddm, so I gave up and applied turn
around. Anyway my Xsetup content looks like this:
#!/bin/sh
xrandr --output HDMI2 --off
xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal

And back to suggested option.
I'm not sure in which section I should put setting mentioned parameter.

We added an icon in the Breeze theme, which is apparently being used as a

The only real solution here is to copy the appropriate icon from the Oxygen

This is intentional. The old icon was for Neopmuk, which has been dead for
