[i18n] [Bug 423135] German translation does not distinguish between system boot splash and Plasma Login splash

2020-07-01 Thread Martin Tlustos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423135

--- Comment #2 from Martin Tlustos  ---
Both entries are in the "startup and shutdown" section of the system settings.
One is titled "boot splash screen" and the other "splash screen", but the
German translation for both is "Startbildschirm". "Boot splash screen" should
be named something like "Systemstarbildschirm" and "splash screen" should be
named "Plasma Startbildschirm" or something like it ("Plasma Startanimation",
"KDE Startbildschirm", or something similar).

[plasmashell] [Bug 423600] Desktop inherits DPI setting from login manager after first login

2020-07-01 Thread akb825
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423600

--- Comment #4 from akb825  ---
In this case, the "-dpi 192" option was set after synchronizing with the KDE
settings. However, if I remove this setting, based on the size of the UI
elements I believe it was using a default of 96.

When it was originally using this default of 96 for the login manager, the
Plasma desktop would display correctly the first time I logged in after
booting. (with the DPI of 192 from the KDE settings) However, if I logged out
and logged back in it would inherit the DPI of 96 from the login manager. As a
result, the desktop icons, desktop context menu, and panel menus all were very
small. Other applications would display correctly. Once the settings were
synchronized, which added the "-dpi 192" option to the sddm config, the desktop
would display correctly regardless of how many times I log out and back on.

[plasmashell] [Bug 423781] New: Corruption in systemsettings5 window and logoff pause/cancellation after suspend/resume with nvidia

2020-07-01 Thread Peter Levine
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423781

Bug ID: 423781
   Summary: Corruption in systemsettings5 window and logoff
pause/cancellation after suspend/resume with nvidia
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.19.2
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: plevine...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

I switched back to using the Nvidia driver (450.51) after having used the intel
driver with Nvidia offloading for a number of months. My problem is that after
I sleep/resume, the systemsettings sidebar is black. Attempting to click in
the area does nothing. Also, attempting to logout is either delayed for a
minute or entirely unsuccessful. Disabling effects, switching rendering
backends, and running 'plasmashell --replace' has no effect. The problem
occurs with or without the use of nvidia's power management systemd unit files.
 The only thing that fixes it is to restart sddm or reboot.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set "Lid closed" action to sleep in "Energy Saving"
2. Close lid and open lid
3. Open systemsettings5 or try to logoff

[clazy] [Bug 423780] New: clazy-fully-qualified-moc-types not detecting missing namespace

2020-07-01 Thread Christian Gagneraud
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423780

Bug ID: 423780
   Summary: clazy-fully-qualified-moc-types not detecting missing
namespace
   Product: clazy
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: chg...@gmail.com
CC: smart...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Given an enum E in a class C in a namespace N, clazy reports an error when the
enum is used fully-unqualified (E value), but doesn't report an error if used
partially-qualified (C:E value).
The only valid usage should be "N:C:E value"

Or the documentation is not accurate, here is the given example:
namespace MyNameSpace {

struct MyType { (...) };

class MyObject : public QObject
{
Q_OBJECT
Q_PROPERTY(MyGadget myprop READ myprop); // Wrong, needs namespace
Q_SIGNALS:
void mySignal(MyType); // Wrong
void mySignal(MyNameSpace::MyType); // OK
};
}

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
run clazy on:
namespace N {
 class C: QObject
 {
  Enum E {};
 signals:
  void function(C:E value) {}
 }
}

OBSERVED RESULT
No error reported

EXPECTED RESULT
"signal arguments need to be fully-qualified" is emitted

This still occurs in latest neon-unstable. The placement of the menu does seem
to consider size of its panel. This issue doesn't happen if the panel height is
22 or below. However if size is 23 or bigger then this issue occurs and the
menu can stretch to the bottom of the screen, covering 1 or more entries.

SUMMARY
My display's resolution is 1920×1080. When System Setting's Display
Configuration Global scale is "100%", KMail's folder pane displays icons in a
simple line-art style. When I bump the global scale up to "125%", most icons
appear the same but the trash and folder icons switch to the colorful style
seen on the desktop. See attached images.

Perhaps KMail needs new "mail-folder-trash" icons?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open System Settings, choose Display and Monitor, and set the Global Scale

2. Restart and log in.
3. Launch KMail.

OBSERVED RESULT
Icons in a mix of styles.

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Problem: "undo" does not always undo flood fill but will undo actions before
and after it.

System: Linux Mint 20 XFCE
Version: Krita 4.3.0

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
(not all these may be necessary, but pretty sure filling twice has to happen.)

Starting with 7 layers. One has outlines.

1) duplicate the outline layer and hide the original
2) use the Contiguous Selection Tool to select 5 or six areas on the outline
layer
3) fill with Foreground Color
4) deselect all
5) use the Contiguous Selection Tool to select 5 or six areas on the outline
layer
6) change Foreground Color
7) fill with new Foreground Color
8) deselect all
7) start to undo all the previous actions. It takes a while because of all the
selections. When you get to the most recent flood fill it will be undone. Then
more selection undos and when you get to the original flood fill it will not
undo, but you can go past it and undo the other selection things.

OBSERVED RESULT: The original flood fill cannot be undone, and areas that were
covered due to the Grow/Shrink Selection feature are not restored.

EXPECTED RESULT: Restore the file to its condition before the flood fill
happened.

This is actually what led to my second comment. However, I'll do this again to
make sure :)

IIRC, moving the mouse did not wake the screen as well, but typing a key on my
keyboard did - and it showed my unlocked desktop.

1. I'm letting the desktop lock itself automatically (after a period of 10
minutes of inactivty, mentioned in comment #2
2. I'm not entirely sure, it's hard to tell. I'd say the screen fails to
automatically lock itself, but its being dimmed/darkened. It is possible that
it's being locked then unlocked before entering my password, but there are
cases where it locks successfully and appears locked when I wake it up. Thus, I
believe it's failing to automatically lock after the inactivity period, in
certain cases.

Yes, mixed values of QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS are not supported on X11 for this
and many other reasons. There is a proposal to begin supporting this; see
https://phabricator.kde.org/D12405.

However a lot of work will be required to get there. In the meantime, the
Wayland session already supports this feature so I would recommend giving that
a try.

Your issue is unrelated; the real problem is this:

> file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.notifications/contents/ui/FullRepresentation.qml:588:17:
>  PlasmaExtras.PlaceholderMessage is not a type

This is a half-applied backport of a series of commits that I asked packagers
to backport to fix another issue. The above error means that the Plasma part of
the backport is active on your system, but not the Frameworks part which
provides PlasmaExtras.PlaceholderMessage.

Possible reasons for this:

1. openSUSE Leap packagers forgot to package the plasma-frameworks commit that
introduced the PlaceholderMessage component
2. ...or else they did but it hasn't gotten pushed out to you as an available
update
3. ...or else it is but you haven't applied that update yet
4. ...or else you did but you haven't rebooted the machine or restarted
plasmashell since then
5. ...or else the backport somehow has an error in it that prevents it from
working

Either way you'll want to perform all updates, reboot, and follow up with the
openSUSE folks if it's still not fixed.

If the DPI scaling isn't 100%, it will be different for the login manager by
default unless you manually synchronize the settings under the Advanced section
of the "Login Screen (SDDM)" control panel.

If you have synchronized the settings, it will have a section that looks like
this in /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf:

[X11]
ServerArguments=-dpi 192

You can either change this section or modify the dpi argument value to force
them to differ.

You're using a version of Spectacle that's two and a half years old which is no

rewritten since then to solve many bugs such as this one. I strongly suspect
that it is already fixed in a later version, but it would be lovely if you
could verify. To do this, you would probably have to upgrade to Kubuntu 20.04,
or get a newer version of Spectacle from Snap, Flatpak, or by building it from
source.

[digikam] [Bug 423775] New: IPTC title ("Object Name") not getting truncated at 64 characters in certain situations

2020-07-01 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423775

Bug ID: 423775
   Summary: IPTC title ("Object Name") not getting truncated at 64
characters in certain situations
   Product: digikam
   Version: 6.4.0
  Platform: macOS Disk Images
OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Metadata-Iptc
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: hesyi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
IPTC title ("Object Name") is not getting truncated at 64 characters when there
is an xmp file containing a long title.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a new jpeg photo (`myimage.jpeg`) to digikam, and go to "Captions" ->
"Description".
2. Enter a "Title" that is longer than 64 characters (e.g., "digiKam is an
advanced open-source digital photo management application that runs on Linux,
Windows, and MacOS") and click "Apply".
3.1. Use exiftool to check the image: `exiftool -G1 myimage.jpeg`.
3.2. As expected, the "[IPTC] Object Name" is truncated as 64 characters
("digiKam is an advanced open-source digital photo management appl").
4.1. Now add a raw file with the same name to the same directory (e.g.,
`myimage.nef`). It doesn't matter what the raw image is. It is just used to
generate a sidecar xmp file that contains a long title.
4.2. In digikam, click the raw file and add a "Title" that is longer than 64
characters ("digiKam is an advanced open-source digital photo management
application that runs on Linux, Windows, and MacOS") and click "Apply".
4.3. Now we have a xmp file with the same name (e.g., `myimage.xmp`). (We can
remove the raw image at this point.)
5. Go back to the jpeg file, and click "Information". Select any of the
template (e.g., "To remove") and click "Apply".
6. Run the same exiftool command again: `exiftool -G1 myimage.jpeg`.

OBSERVED RESULT
The object name is not truncated.
```
[IPTC]  Object Name : digiKam is an advanced
open-source digital photo management application that runs on Linux, Windows,
and MacOS
```

EXPECTED RESULT
The object name should be truncated as before (in step 3.2).
```
[IPTC]  Object Name : digiKam is an advanced
open-source digital photo management appl
```

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
digikam: 6.4.0
macOS: 10.15.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Notice that when you edit the "Title" again and click "Apply", the IPTC Object
Name got truncated again.

I discovered this bug when I was working with both raw and jpeg file and
assigning the same title to both of them. For a long time I thought it was
normal for the IPTC title to be longer than 64 characters, until I removed the
raw file and discovered that the title got truncated
(http://digikam.1695700.n4.nabble.com/digiKam-users-Embedded-IPTC-title-in-JPEG-suddenly-started-to-get-truncated-at-64-characters-td4712640.html).
I think it is very confusing for the users to get this inconsistent behavior
(being able to have a title that is longer than 64 characters, but got
truncated with seemingly no reason later when they remove the raw file).

[systemsettings] [Bug 423141] GTK2 theming broken after update to Plasma 5.19

2020-07-01 Thread Mikhail Zolotukhin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423141

--- Comment #21 from Mikhail Zolotukhin  ---
The old diffs were here https://phabricator.kde.org/D29749 and there
https://phabricator.kde.org/D29748

If I understood correctly, the main reasons the diff was abordoned were the UI
and the fact, that there are still some major apps, that use GTK2 (GIMP and
Audacity).

I started a work on a list-based GTK theme selection some time ago, but it is
unfinished and somewhat hacky on the Kirigami/QML side, since we do not have
the exact needed component. Currently I don't have enough time to fully
implement the idea, but I can create merge requests on Invent from the old
diffs,

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 422616] Garbled HTML information in system tray icon tooltips when apps put HTML in there

2020-07-01 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422616

--- Comment #10 from Nate Graham  ---
So what do folks think we should do here? Revert the change and allow HTML in
tooltips again to un-break apps, and then change the documentation to reflect
reality? Or Tell all the apps they they have to change to follow what the
documentatio says (which is now enforced by reality).

Option 1. re-introduces some potential security issues from malicious HTML in
tooltips, while option 2 isn't very nice to apps.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 420535] after blocking the computer, it hangs in an attempt to log in after such an action as "switch user"

--- Comment #4 from Krazzze  ---
Same issue on following configuration:

Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0
Qt Version: 5.15.0
Kernel Version: 5.7.0-3-MANJARO

Steps to reproduce:
1. Switch User
2. Try to login as same user
3. After entering password, KDE loader freezes midway

OR

1. "Meta + L" to lock the screen
2. Click "Switch user"
3. After entering password for the same user, KDE loader freezes midway

Restarting sddm fixes the 1st issue but couldn't find any way around for the
second issue (except reboot).

[plasmashell] [Bug 423761] Make Power Management KCM open in System Settings

2020-07-01 Thread Nate Graham

--- Comment #3 from Nate Graham  ---
Technically this isn't one KCM that's opened, but rather three. YOu can see
because the window's sidebar has three items in it. We can only open single
KCMs in System Settings, not multiple KCMs. So to do this properly, we will
need to collapse those three KCMs into one first. This is desperately needed
anyway, as those KCMs are quite old-fashioned and have poor UX.

I cannot reproduce it, but looking at the code there's some QEventLoop usage in
the relevant code, that's usually a red flag

[okular] [Bug 423735] Selection tool to print cutouts

2020-07-01 Thread Bernhard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423735

--- Comment #2 from Bernhard  ---
In my case it depends on the situation. Sometimes it should be in original
size, sometimes zoomed to double or half. I could imagine using the zoom in
okular for that. There you can decide between 100% or 200% or whatever. Then
you select a certain part by the selection tool and instead of copy or save you
start something like "print section" which leads to the print dialog.

Another possibility is your idea (as far as I understood): Use the selection
tool to choose an area. Start the print dialog by the context menu, which needs
some aditionals at PDF-Options, like: "fit to printer margins" or "zoom xx %"

Unfortunately both solutions have the disadvantage, that you don't know if it
is larger than a single page or if you waste space.

Concearning "accross multipe pages" I don't see any trouble as the selection
tool only accepts selections on a single page.

[kphotoalbum] [Bug 422555] Crash when tagging images in kphotoalbum

2020-07-01 Thread Joan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422555

--- Comment #15 from Joan  ---
Hi Johannes, I was waiting for the fix until you say that it wasn't comming
yet. I tried compiling and ti works perfectly (I see warnings about thumbnails
not being generated, but kphotoalbum is not crashing).
On thing only, on the backup part tells us to use kpa-backup.sh, but it doesn't
work:

$ ~/.local/bin/kpa-backup.sh --backup
qtpaths: could not find a Qt installation of ''
QStandardPaths command line client (qtpaths) not usable!

I can confirm that akonadi_maildir_resource is much faster again as well. I
wasn't sure initial, but I just tested switching between folders and it is much
faster again. I don't know that fixed it but it maybe that Akonadi 20.04 and Qt
5.12 did not like each other.

Jonas, can you confirm that IMAP resource is still slow with Qt 5.14? If so, I
suggest this to be a different bug.

Anyway I am closing as RESOLVED / WORKSFORME now as… I have no idea what fixed
it. If anyone still has this issue, with maildir resource, please speak up and
I open it again. Confirm that you are running on Qt 5.14 though.
