Huh, works perfect for me from master.

Can you please enable the debug messages for knewstuff (kdebugsettings is a GUI
tool).

Then start the kcm from the command line
>kcmshell5 kcm_sddm

And install an entry, when the password dialog pops up check if there is output
like:
>kf.newstuff.core: Install to file "/tmp/Lime-Green.tar.gz"
>kf.newstuff.core: move: "/tmp/Lime-Green.tar.gz" to "/tmp/Lime-Green.tar.gz"

[kmail2] [Bug 426547] New: mga8beta1 - kmail2 - org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed (32bit)

2020-09-14 Thread Jose Da Silva
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426547

Bug ID: 426547
   Summary: mga8beta1 - kmail2 - org.kde.pim.webengineviewer:
WebEngine render process crashed (32bit)
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.15.0
  Platform: Mageia RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: digi...@joescat.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Requested to bring bug upstream to KDE. Details here:
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27273
Maintainer indicates this bug was fixed for 64bit, however, this but continues
to have problems at 32bit.

Main reason for starting bug report was due to crash message:
../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf
failure in syscall 0403

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Lacking a working wizard import, I cloned a folder from an earlier kmail,
for example: .local/share/local-mail/inbox-2019/{cur/ new/ tmp/}, which shows
up in kmail2 as inbox-2019

2. Open a terminal so you can read any stdout or stderr messages.

3. type kmail in terminal to start kmail.

4. select added folder inbox-2019, to view email in this new folder.
(note default inbox and send boxes are still empty. kmail user account(s) has
not been added yet).

5. moving the mouse over the email list appears functionable, but moving the
mouse over the email viewing panel brings out repeated crash message:
org.kde.pim.webengineviewer: WebEngine render process crashed
../../3rdparty/chromium/sandbox/linux/seccomp-bpf-helpers/sigsys_handlers.cc:**CRASHING**:seccomp-bpf
failure in syscall 0403

6. This might be related, or not, but at this point, kmail2 steals focus from
other programs, so for example, while typing the error report in FireFox, kmail
kept jumping into focus, and also taking whatever was typed as belonging to
kmail.

7. Ran kmail2 as default akonadi/mysql, but also running as akonadi/sqlite had
no change.

OBSERVED RESULT

Moving mouse over email view panel started UI bad behaviour. This can be seen
if you open a terminal, and start kmail from a terminal - repeated crash report
and other bad behaviour. Have to exit kmail to be able to use other programs.

EXPECTED RESULT

To be able to read additional folders like inbox-2019, inbox-2018, inbox-2017
... without crash reports.
To be able to run other programs like kwrite or firefox without having kmail
stealing focus.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
mageia8 beta1
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.0
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Maintainer recommended one other of the reported error messages can probably
deserve a new bug report. See here (comment3):
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27273
If you think it should be reported as another bug, we can start another bug
report.

[kdenlive] [Bug 426453] Cannot Add Video to new Tracks

I spent the evening putting a new updated installation of Mint Linux 20 on
my computer. I still have the same issue of new tracks not allowing me to
add video clips. It must be a compatibility issue between Mint and
kdenlive. I haven't read any complaints from people using other OS's
having this issue.

For me the issue is mostly the smooth scroll animation that occurs on pgup/pgdn
rather than the specific scroll distance - but both are annoying when I'm used
to being able to page down 30 pages in a second or two by just holding pgdn,
and both seem to be caused by the same commit indicated in comment 6

[digikam] [Bug 426284] Cannot build digikam using Craft on Windows 10. "ninja: error: 'opencv_imgcodecs-NOTFOUND'"

Thank you.
Maybe this information will be useful.
Previously, when used Craft, I tried this workaround:
1. Manually install opencv from sourceforge.net
2. Copy ml.hpp and ml subdirectory to Craft's include directory
3. Change core\app\utils\digikam_opencv.h.cmake.in line 79 from
#include "opencv/ml.hpp"
to
#include
and it helped, but then I receive link-time error, "cannot open file
opencv_ml.lib", and this file doesn't really exist.

There appears to be some demand for something like this, as someone submitted a
merge request that *I think* would resolve it:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/merge_requests/120

Unfortunately that MR seems to have gotten stalled amidst disputes about the
UI. The UI proposed there is much too complicated.

It's still not 100% clear to me what the problem is. This sentence is confusing
to me:

I have noticed that the tests do not appear right after opening projects. You
have to wait for the projects to be parsed and their tests to appear in Unit
Tests tool view. The dialog appears more reliably (even with just two open
projects, e.g. kio and ktexteditor) in KDevelop built in Debug mode, though I
have no problem triggering it in Release either.

The text in notifications is the same size as text used throughout Plasma. If
it's too small to read in notifications, it should be too small to read
elsewhere, in which case the solution is to increase the font size globally. :)

Being able to change the font size of just notifications doesn't make sense and
wouldn't really resolve the issue that people have brought up of notifications
not being noticeable enough with large screens or huge areas of light colored
windows. Let's use this bug report to track that issue explicitly.

Hmm, sort of a tricky problem, because the words "File" or "Session" would be
redundant in the menubar versions, but are critically important in the toolbar
configuration UI.

Is there a way to give the same action different text in different contexts, I
wonder?

And thanks for leaving feedback. It's nice to hear positive feedback too.

I'll probably aim to release a new version reasonably soon, maybe in a couple

Compensate for global scale factor when using xcb fb plugin

The screen geometry is reported in device independent pixels, so it has
to be multiplied by the devicePixelRatio to get the size of the underlying
framebuffer. Otherwise, only the top left of the screen will be captured.

This matches the behavior of QScreen::grabWindow(...), which also
returns a QPixmap of the given size scaled by devicePixelRatio.

The bug is that for tracks with just a name and no artist defined, the label
should be vertically centered. The label for the artist is still taking up
space even though it's empty. I'll fix it.

Actually on my system kamoso 20.04 did work before a complete upgrade. It
worked again when I downgraded all the system, but not when downgrade only
kamoso.

I just did a test in live usb with latest kamoso version and it does work, even
giving same warnings about deprecated QML. So probably it's a bug that happens
after multiple upgrades on the same system, or maybe just my problem if nobody
else can reproduce the bug

I don't know, i tend to prefer being conservative in changing things that have
been the same for a long time.

I guess one way would be having kuserfeedback report how much people change
this setting (we don't have kuserfeedback at all)

Or doing a poll blog about it.

*my personal feeling* is that maybe 0 is not "the perfect value", but it's a
value everyone can agree makes some sense as default, and if they want to tweak
it, they can.

If we set it to 2%, some people will say "what 2% makes no sense, should be 3%"
and others will say "make it 0%, why are you making page down not do a page
down"

I am also experiencing this on Debian buster, or even a crash on start (us
kernel.unprivileged_userns_clone=1).

Workaround:

./digikam-7.0.0-x86-64.appimage --appimage-extract
cd squashfs-root
find . -name '*nss*.so' -delete
edit AppRun, comment out "preload_shared_library libnss3.so"
cd ..
./appimagetool-x86_64.AppImage squashfs-root/ digikamtest.AppImage

appimagetool is from https://github.com/AppImage/AppImageKit/releases

So to summarize, for me, removing nss from the appimage fixes the issue.
