I'm not able to reproduce this issue on Fedora 32.

gcc (GCC) 10.2.1 20201005 (Red Hat 10.2.1-5)
valgrind-3.16.1
vmlinuz-5.8.15-201.fc32.x86_64
/usr/lib64/libc-2.31.so
Qt 5.15.1 from qt.io

I do get
==11044== Syscall param waitid(infop) points to unaddressable byte(s)

Is this specific to Arch, or can you reproduce with other distros?

Agreed, Falkon should have a download button in the PDF viewer.

Confirmed in Falkon 3.1.0.

I'd suggest this be a wish list item though as it is not a bug.

A workaround until then is to right click on PDF links and "Save Link As"

Confirmed, also effects 20.08.1

Even though it's saying it's going to the Pictures folder in the popup it's
just sitting in my home directory.

No matter what directory I'm running spectacle from it always ends up in my
home directory, filename is also not respected, it just names it as default.

[korganizer] [Bug 428119] New: Can't edit events (they are all recurring btw, everyday the same events repeated)

2020-10-22 Thread lava
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428119

Bug ID: 428119
Summary: Can't edit events (they are all recurring btw,
everyday the same events repeated)
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.15.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: shgr11...@yandex.ru
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Maybe it's just I don't know how to use the program? Today when I tried to edit
my events they are all gone "locked" mode. The colors of categories are gone
and all turned to gray(I guess colorless). I tried to edit them by double
clicking and right clicking and Edit, nothing worked. I always dismiss events
when they popup, either "dismiss" or "dismiss all". Maybe I shouldn't "dismiss"
them or what?

Couple days ago similarish issue happened. All my events were gone. I had to
reboot to fix the issue. This time I don't want to, too costly to reboot.

2020-10-22 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424654

It is worth noting that:

* Alt+C closes the split terminal by toggling its close button, as if it was
clicking on it. This is definitely not the case with Ctrl+D or Ctrl+Shift+W.

* After closing one split terminal, Alt+C goes back to normal, even if there
still are split terminals open. Opening a new split terminal causes the issue
again. So the issue's reproducibility seems to be affected by Konsole's
internal state. This is not something the OS alone could do.

(Of course in my case it shows different files and a different window frame but
the content should look familiar - does it look familiar?).

The log says that you opened Krita and discarded three autosaved files. Was the
file you are talking about among them?

I can confirm,

Plasma 5.20.1
Frameworks 5.75.0
Qt 5.15.1

Memory used by KSysGuard will steadily increase and can reach 2GiB overnight.

I also suspect this to have started happening for me since version 5.20.0.

There is also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426792 indicating the same
for libksysguard, though it was originally reported with 5.19.90.

[frameworks-kservice] [Bug 427469] NotShowIn/OnlyShowIn overrides the user-selected apps saved in mimeapps.list

2020-10-22 Thread David Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427469

OK, actually, if I read NotShowIn/OnlyShowIn at cache creation time (but ignore
it for things listed in mimeapps.list)... then I have a hard time coming up
with a buggy corner case related to switching desktop environments.
One would have to install an app with OnlyShowIn=KDE while in Gnome, run some
KDE code there (so ksycoca gets updated while the current desktop isn't
Plasma), switch to Plasma, do nothing that touches the mime configuration, and
the KDE app is still ignored for the purpose of file associations.
And if that ever happens, there are easy workarounds (running kbuildsycoca5,
installing/removing any other app, changing any file associations...).

The video shows how the close button of a split terminal gets 'pressed' every

I've just tested with Breeze Dark on 20.08.1 and cannot reproduce, can you
please test on a recent version of Konsole and again with default Breeze theme
and see if it is still an issue.

So they key bindings do work (version 20.08.1) but they are poorly worded. It
is expected that the modifiers should be shown for all shortcuts so users are
not confused.

To get a ( you have to press shift, so it is assumed, but not all users might
know/understand this.

I would propose the label be changed to Ctrl Shift 9 / 0.

[frameworks-kservice] [Bug 427469] mimeapps.list is not respected when called by xdg-open

2020-10-22 Thread David Faure
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427469

Very good bug report, thanks. Detailed, and down to command-line calls.

That makes me want to fix it :-)

It's tricky though. We read both mimeapps.list and desktop files, write out an
ordered list into the cache (ksycoca), then when it's time to find an app for a
mimetype, we read that list from the cache and filter out services that
shouldn't be shown in the current desktop (applyFilter() in
kapplicationtrader.cpp). At that point we don't really know if the app is in
the list because of mimeapps.list or because it was just a .desktop file being
there (but not specifically chosen by the user) when we created the cache.

And we can't filter out based on current desktop at the time of creating the
cache, because, well, technically the current desktop could change between the
time of creating the cache and the time of using it.

The easy way out would be to say: NotShowIn is *only* about whether the app
should be displayed in the K menu, it shouldn't prevent an application from
being selected (even without user intervention) when clicking on a file. But I
believe this would introduce unwanted behavior in some cases (let's say, like
FileRoller being started for directories in Plasma, by default).

OK, so it's tricky indeed. Well, at least tonight I wrote the unittest for this
(which also breaks if blindly removing the showInCurrentDesktop() check in
applyFilter, i.e. it checks that nobody took the "easy way out" from the
previous paragraph). TDD methodology: unittest written, next step is to come up
with a fix.

OK, this requires separating the notion of progress (50% = we have *processed*
50% of the files) from the amount of files *copied* (rather than processed).

I thought the two were linked, but actually, KJob calculates percent based on
bytes, not files.

So this might be sufficient:

[okular] [Bug 428116] New: Implement support for measure annotations

2020-10-22 Thread Dion Moult
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428116

Bug ID: 428116
Summary: Implement support for measure annotations
   Product: okular
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: PDF backend
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: d...@thinkmoult.com
  Target Milestone: ---

In the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, a huge part of our
workflow is annotating PDFs.

Linux currently does not have a desktop tool for annotating drawings, similar
to commercial offerings like Bluebeam, or PDF XChange Editor, etc that allow us
to work in the AEC industry. It would be awesome if we could have a free
software option :)

The basic features required for AEC, most of which is already supported are as
follows:

 - Able to annotate text, callouts, arrows, lines, and polygons, with a variety
of stroke and fill RGBAs and thicknesses
 - Able to "stamp" a preset graphic or text
 - Extract a subset of pages in a PDF, add new pages to a PDF, reorder pages

Those features already exist in PDF offerings. However, there are a few more
features that the AEC industry needs that do not exist to my knowledge:

 - Annotating a dimension line with automatic dimension, applying a scale
factor to represent the scale in real world units
 - A ruler calibration tool to calculate an arbitrary or unknown scale factor
 - A polyline measurement tool to calculate the summed length of a polyline,
with scale factor applied
 - A polygon measurement tool to calculate the perimeter length, and area of
the polygon, with scale factor applied
 - Naturally, support for both imperial and metric real world units
 - The ability to compare two PDFs side by side
 - The ability to overlay a PDF over another, to spot changes between them,
perhaps colour coded, or visualised in another way

There are some more features like 3D PDFs, but the vibe I get is that nobody
likes it as a developer :) It's also a lower priority, so don't worry about
that one!

Some picture examples of commercial tools:
[one](https://support.bluebeam.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/9-12-3.jpg),
[two](https://carolhagen.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/independent-units-measurements-in-bluebeam-revu.jpg),
and
[three](https://cdn.forconstructionpros.com/files/base/acbm/fcp/image/2014/02/960w/bluebeam-studio--collaborate-r_11305813.jpg).

I've spoken to the [mupdf](https://mupdf.com/) devs. They advise me that the
[PDF specification](https://ghostscript.com/~tor/pdfref17.pdf) which is 1,310
pages long (what a nightmare!) specifies this type of measurement / scale
factor functionality (pages 627 - line annotations can have a measure
dictionary attached, and page 744, like an entire chapter about this stuff).

Please let me know what is and isn't feasible, and if there is some work being
done around this area in the FOSS world that I've missed.

[k3b] [Bug 428115] New: k3b silently drops files whose names contain special characters when adding to project

2020-10-22 Thread Ken Arromdee
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428115

Bug ID: 428115
Summary: k3b silently drops files whose names contain special
characters when adding to project
   Product: k3b
   Version: 19.04
  Platform: Mageia RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Data Project
  Assignee: k...@kde.org
  Reporter: arrom...@gmx.com
CC: mich...@jabster.pl, tr...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
k3b silently drops files whose names contain special characters when adding to
project

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a directory full of files to a data project. The directory contains a
file with \367 (M-q) in the filename.
2. Check and see which files k3b actually added to the project by expanding the
directory in the left part of the data tab.

OBSERVED RESULT
The file was not added.

EXPECTED RESULT
The file should be added, or at least an error should be produced.

At this point I have no idea how much data I have already lost because of this
behavior. I only discovered that this was happening because of a fluke.

If you try adding only the individual file, k3b will at least produce an error
saying that it can't find the file, although it really should be able to.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System) -- I am not using a full desktop environment, only
fvwm2, so no About System. This bug is not related to a graphical environment
anyway.

May also be related to bug #282390.
