[kstars] [Bug 430365] New: Guiding RMS Error After Dithering

2020-12-13 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430365

Bug ID: 430365
Summary: Guiding RMS Error After Dithering
   Product: kstars
   Version: 3.5.0
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: mutla...@ikarustech.com
  Reporter: mountainai...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

With stable ~1 arcsec guiding and the capture module set to abort at > 2" Total
RMS, EKOS will repeatedly abort capture because it calculates Total RMS" wrong
after dithering (sometimes getting a value of 15"). For larger Total RMS, the
guide process itself can sometimes lose its guide star and be aborted (this
seems worse in 3.5.0).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Begin guiding, with the configuration set to dither every 5 frames.
2. Begin capturing. Set the module to short capture when guiding deviation is
> 2
3. Wait for the dither to happen.

OBSERVED RESULT

Total RMS climbs very high in the capture module, and it aborts. In the
guiding module, it never seems to get that bad (though I will try to verify
this the next time out).

EXPECTED RESULT

Total RMS" should not significantly change Total RMS, as the positional change
is intended. Find a way to exclude dithers from the calculation.

Perfect. I will try to do that for YAML based .sls files (Salt). The only
remaining question: what the best way to force kate to reread the syntax files?
and is there a way to debug them somehow? Cheers!

   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools/Transform
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY
This goes to the wishlist and targets the selection tool.
The purpose is to allow a user to transform a selection area even if no pixels
are contained in it.
You might just add an option which would be "transform selection" in the
Transform tool's context menu.

Still not implemented in Krita 4.4.3 alpha

[digikam] [Bug 429103] Digikam 7.1.0 does not start up, when using macos big sur

2020-12-13 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=429103

--- Comment #90 from caulier.gil...@gmail.com ---
Maik,

Look well the size of no-debug and debug PKG files

digiKam-7.2.0-beta2-20201213T231914-MacOS-x86-64.pkg => 210.3 MB (220464851
bytes)

digiKam-7.2.0-beta2-20201213T233053-MacOS-x86-64-debug.pkg => 223.4 MB
(234239694 bytes)

The difference is not to much high. Typically, digiKam + Showfoto + Exiv2 + all
dplugins are compiled with debug symbols. All the rest do not include debug
symbols. To compare, Linux versions are :

digikam-7.2.0-beta2-20201210T103829-x86-64.appimage => 296.2 MB (310628392
bytes)
digikam-7.2.0-beta2-20201210T104206-x86-64-debug.appimage =>607.4 MB (636870696
bytes)

.. and Windows :

digiKam-7.2.0-beta2-20201214T063937-Win64.exe => 101.1 MB (105992505 bytes)
digiKam-7.2.0-beta2-20201214T065629-Win64-debug.exe => 321.4 MB (337013785
bytes)

Typically, i expect to see a double size at least between both versions. So why
MacOS files difference is small ? Note the code to cleanup debug symbols is
located here:

https://invent.kde.org/graphics/digikam/-/blob/master/project/bundles/macports/04-build-installer.sh#L450

My initial description of the bug is not quite correct, so please see

https://invent.kde.org/utilities/konsole/-/merge_requests/299

where I've implemented an option to allow for both the old and new behavior.
The patch applies on top of 20.12.0---and in fact is what I'm testing with.

I'd appreciate anyone willing to test this out and give feedback---please
notice that the tests I have run right now are VERY MINIMAL.

That said, I am planning on using it on my personal machine.

On Windows 10 with Krita 4.4.1, the following sequence has a chance to crash
the application:

1. open Krita
2. resize Small Color Selector
3. create new document
4. close document
5. resize Small Color Selector
6. Krita crashes

It crashes about 1 in 3 times, which is a very high rate for me since it pretty
much never crashed on me in the last few months of drawing.

I'll look into what David Connor mentioned in November.

[krita] [Bug 430363] New: Allow frame rates less than 1 for GIF export

2020-12-13 Thread David Gene
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430363

Bug ID: 430363
Summary: Allow frame rates less than 1 for GIF export
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.3.0
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: File formats
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: da...@astrosticks.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I recently had a situation where I wanted each frame of a GIF to appear for two
seconds (0.5fps), but the interface didn't support it. This would be a nice
feature to have.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create an animation
2. Export as GIF
3. Try to set framerate lower than 1, e.g. 0.5

OBSERVED RESULT
Interface doesn't allow framerates of less than 1 for gif exports

EXPECTED RESULT
Decimal framerates should be allowed to be inputted when exporting an
animation, and will round to the nearest supported framerate by the export file
format after unfocusing from the framerate input field, letting users see
framerate that will be actually used before they actually hit Export.

After experimenting with numerous cables and USB ports, I have concluded that
the problems I experienced with this drive on this system are hardware related.
I will simply replace the drive with an internal SATA interface device. No
further efforts are needed on your part. Thank you for what you did and the
lesson learned seems to be that the USB interface can be problematic for
devices that rely on it for power. Thanks again.

Clicking on Pointing > Find Object, entering sagittarius in Filter by name, and
selecting the Details button was all that was required for the crash to happen
in further tries. When I ran kstars from konsole and under gdb, the following
error was shown when the crash occurred.
QWaylandShmBuffer: mmap failed (Invalid argument)

Running kstars under gdb indicated that the pointer this in frame 0 pointed to
an inaccessible address.
(gdb) p this
$1 = (DetailDialog * const) 0x58b4ecc0
(gdb) x this
0x58b4ecc0: 0x561463b8
(gdb) x 0x561463b8
0x561463b8: Cannot access memory at address 0x561463b8

I'm attaching the gdb output with the full trace. The pointer dso = 0x0 in
frame 0 in DetailDialog::createGeneralTab in the full trace which might
indicate a null pointer dereference happened at detaildialog.cpp:312
if (!dso->longname().isEmpty() && dso->longname() != dso->name())

Crashes with this trace happened with both of kstars-3.4.3-4.fc33 with LTO
disabled due to the problem at
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1881915 and kstars-3.4.3-5.fc33
with LTO enabled and -fPIC from koji. This problem isn't likely to be related
to the LTO problem. The crash happened when I ran kstars on X in Plasma on
Wayland with QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb kstars & so the problem probably isn't
specific to Wayland.

2020-12-13 Thread David Chmelik
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430360

Bug ID: 430360
Summary: icons can't be densely-spaced anymore
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 20.12.0
  Platform: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: view-engine: icons mode
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: dchme...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

On Slackware64 14-current, after a recent KDE upgrade, in icon mode with (and
to an extent also without) previews Dolphin has way too much whitespace, more
than icons. White space is about 1.5 icons between each (horizontally.) I
used to be able to have 48 icons at a certain size; now at same size it's 25.
This is extremely poor for looking through directories/folders with lots of
files/folders because it takes basically twice as long... if it was big enough
to take a couple minutes, now it takes four or more minutes. When I used to
have 12 to 16 subject folders at the top of my /home/user in two rows, then a
row or so usual/main files/images, that is no longer possible and now has to
take virtually the entire space, leaving little/no room for many other files I
sometimes work on. I can still get seven (not eight) across at tiny sizes
(that used to have 10+ across at that size) but then the icons are too small to
view/read easily.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open dolphin
2. Expect normally-/classically-/densely-spaced icons
3. Icons are spread very far apart (horizontally)

OBSERVED RESULT

Icons are spread way too far apart (horizontally) to be as useful in many
instances.

EXPECTED RESULT

Icons could be densely-spaced (horizontally) or allow that as one of options.

[kio-extras] [Bug 414553] Crash From New Images On Desktop Or Dolphin - kdeinit5, kio/thumbnail.so

2020-12-13 Thread vindicator
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414553

Testing this further (instead of just rebooting), I found that killing the
kdeinit5 threads "file.so", sets things back the way it should (no crashes,
thumbnails are generated).

I first suicided kdeinit5.
Then ps showed the previous, along with new instances existed as well as the
"file.so" threads:
*
$ ps -ef |grep kdeini
userName 1298 1 0 Dec03 ?00:00:00
/usr/lib/kf5/start_kdeinit
userName 1300 1 0 Dec03 ?00:00:01 kdeinit5: Running...
userName 709781300 0 Dec03 ?00:00:40 kcalc [kdeinit5]
userName17216491300 0 19:55 ?00:00:00 file.so [kdeinit5] file
local:/run/user//klauncherknWPUc.1.slave-socket
local:/run/user//kded5iOYDAY.1.slave-socket
userName17216501300 0 19:55 ?00:00:00 file.so [kdeinit5] file
local:/run/user//klauncherknWPUc.1.slave-socket
local:/run/user//kded5mmOANs.2.slave-socket
userName1721652 1 0 19:55 ?00:00:00 kdeinit5: Running...
*
It was only after killing those 2 sockets did the crashes stop and thumbnails
start generating again.

Nothing else I provided told you enough. Hopefully this does something. I at
least now know what I can do instead of rebooting.

My experience duplicates the description, but with different versions. I have
observed that if I add -m (muted), it runs fine. Perhaps this will provide a
hint to where the problem is. The freeze is so bad that my only option is to
power down.

Raspberry Pi 400. Using original SD (believed to be Raspian NOOBS) ran apt
update/upgrade before I tried to get gcompris (and after). Installed using apt

This report is very vague:
- videos are already gone/unavailable
- the latest consensus is is that there is a lag with big files no matter if
the stabilizer is there or not, it's just related to how much memory Krita uses
(mention of a big file in the background), and that it might be just
performance...

I guess in the new resource system, this should just look for patterns by both
md5 and a name. Although I'm not sure why searching for md5 wouldn't work -
does pattern not have md5 calculated at all? What might have been another
reason for all/random patterns having the same md5?

In order to keep the bug tracker neat and tidy I am going to keep this one as
resolved. Please submit a new bug report or reopen this one should the issue
occur in the future.

[kmail2] [Bug 430356] New: Allow to change background color of Important and Action Item

2020-12-13 Thread Thiago Sueto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430356

Bug ID: 430356
Summary: Allow to change background color of Important and
Action Item
   Product: kmail2
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: herzensch...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Just changing text color does not provide much contrast, especially on Breeze
Dark. This issue also occurs with Thunderbird tags, but at least KMail allows
to change background colors for tags, allowing the user to make them much nicer
and more readable.
