What did you do exactly? Have you added a collection from an external drive or
tried to open the external drive using the import tool?

We minimally need the output from DebugView, as described here:
https://www.digikam.org/contribute/

You can also test whether the problem can still be reproduced with
digiKam-7.2.0-Beta2, from here: https://files.kde.org/digikam/

[plasmashell] [Bug 430800] New: Plasmashell crash after using Plasma Integration Firefox extension to begin playback

2020-12-24 Thread Wolfgang Faust
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430800

Bug ID: 430800
Summary: Plasmashell crash after using Plasma Integration
Firefox extension to begin playback
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.4
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: wolfgangmcq+acct-bugs.kde@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.20.4)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.77.0
Operating System: Linux 5.4.0-58-generic x86_64
Windowing system: X11
Distribution: KDE neon User Edition 5.20

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I was playing some music from a page in Firefox. (Plasma Integration 1.7.6, on
Firefox 83.0.) This was a page loaded via my local public library's EZProxy,
which caused Plasma to complain with a dialog box about a certificate error
when the music started playing; I told it to continue anyway but keep the
exception only for this session. I paused the music and later put the computer
to sleep. Some time later I woke the computer back up, hit the play button on
the lock screen (which started the music playing), and put my password in.
After the computer unlocked, I saw the same certificate error dialog, and dealt
with it in the same way as before. Immediately thereafter, Plasma crashed, and
I couldn't hear the music any more, although the page was still playing. After
it had automatically restarted I discovered that the headphone output was now
muted; when I unmuted it the sound came back as expected.

I've tried a couple times to reproduce this by pausing the music again, putting
the computer to sleep, waking it up, and hitting play on the lock screen; but I
haven't gotten either the cert error or the crash.

The crash does not seem to be reproducible.

[palapeli] [Bug 430798] New: palapeli commit 4404144fa can't find goldberg slicer, segfaults at startup

2020-12-24 Thread Duncan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430798

Bug ID: 430798
Summary: palapeli commit 4404144fa can't find goldberg slicer,
segfaults at startup
   Product: palapeli
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: slicers
  Assignee: majew...@gmx.net
  Reporter: 1i5t5.dun...@cox.net
CC: kde-games-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Live-git frameworks/plasma/release-service/palapeli via gentoo/kde's overlay
packages. Qt 5.15.2, cmake 3.19.2. Probably doesn't matter for this bug but
I'm on kwin_wayland by default now.

Current head commit 4404144fa "Port slicer plugin loading to KPluginLoader" is
broken. It builds, but palapeli segfaults on startup with this message to
konsole if I've started it from there:

Could not find slicer "palapeli_goldbergslicer".

As expected given the git log, head-1, f7375190e, builds and runs fine.

Should there be one or more slicer *.json files replacing the old slicer
*.desktop files? I don't see any in the package's file-list.

Searching the build output I see:

[17/87] cd /tmp/portage/kde-apps/palapeli-/work/palapeli-/slicers &&
/usr/bin/desktoptojson -i palapeli_goldbergslicer.desktop -o
/tmp/portage/kde-apps/palapeli-/work/palapeli-_build/slicers/palapeli_goldbergslicer.json
Warning: Unable to find service type for service "Libpala/SlicerPlugin" listed
in
"/tmp/portage/kde-apps/palapeli-/work/palapeli-/slicers/palapeli_goldbergslicer.desktop"
(:0, )
Generated
"/tmp/portage/kde-apps/palapeli-/work/palapeli-_build/slicers/palapeli_goldbergslicer.json"

...and similar for jigsaw and rect. Could that warning have something to do
with it?

There's no *.json files in the install phase (either the build-system's install
to temp-location or the later gentoo-pkg level qmerge from there to the live
system). Of course the kservices5 slicer *.desktop files along with
kservicetypes5/libpala-slicerplugin.desktop are gone and the
qt5/plugins/*slicer.so files are moved into the palapelislicers subdir.

Yes, we haven't fixed this yet, or even had time to triage the report, sorry
for that! Since it wasn't a regression -- you note it also happens in 4.1 -- it
didn't have priority for 4.4.2-beta2. We only fix regressions after the first
beta has been released, because any bug fix brings with it the chance for
another regression.

[kate] [Bug 430795] New: Scrolling diagonally down+left is impossible.

2020-12-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430795

Bug ID: 430795
Summary: Scrolling diagonally down+left is impossible.
   Product: kate
   Version: 19.12.3
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: cleit...@sfu.ca
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When using trackpad, scrolling down and horizontally left (but no other
direction) at the same time (diagonally), the horizontal direction is reversed,
making it impossible to pan view down+left diagonally.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a text file with many lines to scroll across, and long lines that go
off side of window.
2. Ensure line wrapping is off.
3. Move 2 fingers on trackpad diagonally up and to right.

OBSERVED RESULT
Kate's view of the document moves down+right. Horizontal direction is reversed.
Actually scrolling down+right works as expected.

EXPECTED RESULT
Kate's view of the document should scroll down to left, with the text on the
screen moving the same direction as fingers on trackpad.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 20.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.12.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The current workaround is to scroll only orthogonal directions in sequence,
this is not affected. Only diagonal scrolling down+left doesn't work.

My preferred console font doesn't even support literal bold. I wasn't aware
there were people who actually want such a thing.

As for the rationale that there is no other "bold alone" code... Shouldn't it
work to specify (eg) \e[1m\e[38;2;50;50;50m ?

I also notice the intensive behaviour already (before this bug was introduced)
ignored RBG colours... So you don't even need to put the colour after the bold
code.

[plasmashell] [Bug 404267] Global Menu does not respect Fitt's Law for switching menus when one is already open

Hi everyone, and happy holidays.

I recently switched to Plasma and quickly encountered this bug. Once I get a
dev environment for Plasma set up I will try to investigate.

One quick thought in the meantime, in case anyone has a moment to try it - is
this PR to the System Tray applet at all applicable here?

https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/merge_requests/72

Is there any way a similar approach could be adapted for use in the Global
Menu?

Thanks!

Matt

[KAccounts] [Bug 430793] New: RFE: Support for the Fedora Accounts System

2020-12-24 Thread Neal Gompa

  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ad...@leinir.dk
  Reporter: ngomp...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The Fedora Project provides accounts for accessing a number of contributor and
user resources. This most notably includes our upcoming Matrix server
(chat.fedoraproject.org). The login mechanism is GSSAPI/Kerberos, which
browsers and other things that have GSSAPI integration can use to auto-login
using the existing session (because the id.fedoraproject.org SSO gateway is
GSSAPI-enabled).

It needs only to prompt for the FAS username and password, translate it to
usern...@fedoraproject.org and set up the Kerberos login (offering to save the
password as well).

I have the same issue (without VPN, just Wi-Fi) on Kubuntu 20.10.

Is there a way (apart from voting) to change the priority of this issue? I'm
really surprised this has been hanging here for almost 3 years.
This makes Kubuntu totally unusable for my girlfriend and I'd guess for
everyone else who relies on WiFi. It also really limits the options to find a
good looking distro for newbies when KDE is not an option.

(Troubleshooting and finding a workaround is not an option when trying to
convince someone to switch from Windows to Linux. Internet has to work on first
boot.)

[kwallet-pam] [Bug 400929] kwallet-pam errors when logging into Plasma from lightdm

2020-12-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=400929

The previous patch I had posted was actually a quick fix, since, as I wrote, I
didn't really find out the cause of the problem with listen. However, upon
further inspection, it turned out that the problem was caused by closing all
the file descriptors greater than 2 before calling socket. By adding some debug
code I found out that the socket was given file descriptor 3, and calling
getsockopt with SO_TYPE on this fd always returned 2, which is SOCK_DGRAM,
regardless of which type of socket was required in the call to socket. I don't
know the reason for this behavior, the only thing I noticed is that when
execute_kwallet is called the file descriptor 3 is indeed assigned to another
socket, but I've no clue on the origin of this socket. Since we don't want
kwallet to inherit irrelevant file descriptors from his parent, I replaced the
call to close with a call to fcntl, which sets the FD_CLOEXEC flag. This solves
the problem and should prevent undesired fd inheritance as well.

When working with a contact group, there is no way to search for a single
contact (CRTL-F) or to sort by Name or Email.

This makes managing of large contact lists merely impossible!

Please add a sort and/or search function!

[kontact] [Bug 430788] New: Contact groups: 'Name' searches in Email instead of name

2020-12-24 Thread Axel Braun
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430788

Bug ID: 430788
Summary: Contact groups: 'Name' searches in Email instead of
name
   Product: kontact
   Version: 5.16.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: contacts
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: axel.br...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

When adding a contact to a contact group, and one enters something in 'Name',
contact proposes an email address. If the name does not by chance match the
mail address, nothing is found.
Example: John Doe
give no result when entering 'Joe' in 'Name' column.

Expected result: When entering a Name, contact should search in the names, not
in the emails

I can't reproduce it on two platforms
= current Debian testing, khelpcenter 5.7.6.20042,
 * when the application language is Italian and I look for "riposizionare" (the
Italian translation), I get 4 results;
 * when running the English version I get two results for the applications
(plasma-desktop and kstars) and 10 results on UNIX man pages (on various *seek*
functions).
= Fedora 33, khelpcenter 5.7.6.200803, English version, I get one result on
Application Manuals (plasma-desktop) and 10 results on UNIX man pages (on
various *seek* functions).

I would check for issues on your distributions or local build.

[kactivitymanagerd] [Bug 419499] Switch activity shortcut order

2020-12-24 Thread Oded Arbel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419499

Oded Arbel changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||o...@geek.co.il

I think I have the same issue as reported, but the behavior I see now - with
Plasma 5.20.80 from Neon unstable is as follows:

Setup: 3 available activities, lets call them A, B and C.

Behaviors:
1. When on any activity, hitting the "Walk through activities" key once (and
releasing all keys) will switch to the previously used activity. Hitting it
again will switch back.
2. When holding the modifier keys after releasing the TAB (my setup is custom
and I'm using multiple modifiers), the activities bar remains open and shows
the activity list in their iteration order (like with the window switcher) so
hitting the TAB key again will switch to the next activity in the list and then
the next until the modifiers are released.

All this is fine.

The issue I have is that the order the activities are shown in the activity bar
and iterated over, when not releasing the modifier keys between switching, is a
bit weird:

Lets say we are starting in activity A. Activating the shortcut and holding the
modifiers - the desktop switches to B, and shows the activity bar with B
selected with the following order: B, A, C.

So activating the shortcut again - without releasing modifiers - would bring
you back to activity A, and only then to C.

Compare that to the window switcher: I have 3 windows, I'm on A with the
previous B and I want to get to C - hold ALT, press TAB once (get to B) and
again (get to C). But with the activity switcher - hold modifiers, press TAB
once (get to B) press TAB again (get back to A) pres TAB a third time (get to
C).

I think what happens here is that the activity manager - on invoking "Walk
through activities" - first switches to the last previously used activity and
only then shows the activity bar with all activities sorted by (the post
switch) LRU order, while the "walk through windows" shortcut first lists the
LRU windows and only then switches, so that when the window switcher UI
appears, the current window is always the second on the list.

The problem becomes very apparent when you combine it with the reverse action:

- Window switcher, with A,B,C as LRU order: hold ALT, press TAB, hold ALT and
SHIFT, press TAB, release modifiers - you are now at A.
- Activity switcher, with A,B,C as LRU order: hold modifiers, press TAB, hold
modifiers and SHIFT, press TAB, release modifiers - you are now at C.

the font color is set to white in the legend with a white background color.
This is the reason for why you don't see anything. Just set the font color to
another color and you'll see the names of your curves.

[kmail2] [Bug 430787] New: When moving an email into a subfolder on KDE Plasma Wayland the context menu does not appear at the target subfolder

2020-12-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430787

Bug ID: 430787
Summary: When moving an email into a subfolder on KDE Plasma
Wayland the context menu does not appear at the target
subfolder
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.15.3
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: pug...@yahoo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
This of course is misleading because of the expression [move|copy] "here" twice
in the options, as they do not match the place they are referring to.

OBSERVED RESULT
On KDE Plasma Wayland: Drag and drop an email into a subfolder. A context menu
appears to choose whether to move here, copy here or cancel. This context menu
appears where the email was located before/where it was clicked to drag it into
the target folder.

EXPECTED RESULT
The menu should appear at the target folder instead, where the mouse button is
released.

I had to add time parameter to have active notification:
notify-send foo bar2 -h string:desktop-entry:firefox -t 1

Last time I checked and for me it is working exactly the same in 5.20 and now.
Notification plasmoid closes when cleared. It is not closing when:
* it is in passive state (in hidden area)
* it is in active state, but has several notification and new one is deleted.
Then it switches to passive state and does not close.

Bug ID: 430786
Summary: Auto-hidden panel does not hide again if opened with
touch
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.4
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: i...@stormpoorun.net
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

USING WAYLAND AND TOUCHSCREEN:
Set panel to auto-hide.
Ensure the panel is hidden.
Open panel with touch by swiping from the edge (for example, by default, from
the bottom of the screen).
Panel opens.

Undertake an activity that should take the focus away from the panel
(open an app, touch the desktop, or select an open window).
The focus leaves the panel.
The panel remains open and ceases to auto-hide.
There is no obvious way to close the panel manually using touch.

EXPECTED:
The panel should hide upon losing focus

WITHOUT TOUCH:
Carry out the same operation, using the touchpad.
The panel closes when it loses focus.
