That's correct. On X11, there is no concept of scale factors.

Can't do anything about it on the kwin side, Qt creates an xdg_toplevel surface
for the popup, therefore it's subject to the placement policies. When the popup
is created, it needs to have a proper parent window.

I can confirm this bug. I had it once and IIRC "solved" it by deleting the
dolphinrc file.

However, now the behaviour is back. What I find interesting... I tried the
following:

- Quit dolphin
- Removed that file
- Started dolphin again

Dolphin still came up with the same, wrong window size. But otherwise, it still
remembered all of the other settings (e.g. the last folder it has been in). It
somehow seems like the config is cached somewhere and not updated, no matter if
that file is removed or not.

The problem is that aurorae decoration engine is inefficient. KWin gets the
data from a texture where Aurorae composites the decoration and uploads it to
another decoration texture atlas. Performance-wise, that's not good. By
delaying compositing, we just made it more easier to miss the next vblank.
Perhaps, we should increase the latency policy to "extremely high" to work
around this bug until the performance hog is properly fixed.

[frameworks-kconfig] [Bug 431582] New: Set double click in touchpad by default

2021-01-13 Thread Adrián López Galera
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431582

Bug ID: 431582
Summary: Set double click in touchpad by default
   Product: frameworks-kconfig
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: matt...@mjdsystems.ca
  Reporter: adrlop...@gmail.com
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Hi! I'm not a developer, but I have a little idea respect to the settings of
touchpad. By default, the touchpad only recognizes left-click and right-click,
but not double-click unless user change this settings. I think it would be more
user-friendly to set double click in touchpad by default (if single-click is
set before) because many users may think KDE Plasma isn't totally compatible
with their device or that device doesn't work properly. I had this idea when,
recently, I installed KDE NEON on a friend's laptop and she thought her
touchpad didn't work.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Setup a fresh KDE NEON install
2. Set a single-click in touchpad settings.
3. Try to open a file or folder.

OBSERVED RESULT
File or folder doesn't open or run.

EXPECTED RESULT
File or folder should open or run.

While vsynctester.com is quite useful, I don't think that its results are
trustworthy in all cases. I've checked it with different browsers (with and
without wayland native support), no single browser was showing consistent
measurements.

It's also worth mentioning that Firefox's frame rate is capped due to a bug in
Xwayland.

There is weston-simple-egl tool that measures the frame rate based on frame
callbacks, it's not accurate, but it's good enough.

[plasmashell] [Bug 431550] Disable expanding of task manager

2021-01-13 Thread Chris
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431550

Hi Nate, on a standard panel, the icons-only task manager also expands to the
right, but this is not that much of a problem, since the standard panel does
not have an option to "restore windows by dragging from panel".

However, on a standard panel, if you put an expanding spacer to the right of
the task manager, the expanding spacer takes precedence (i.e. the empty space
is filled by the spacer, not the task manager). That is not the case on a Latte
panel. Come to think of it, my problem could be solved if Latte gave precedence
to the spacer.

Alt+scroll conflicts with Alt+Scroll on Ubuntu systems for "display zoom".
Therefore this shortcut is non-existend.

New proposal:
Implement shortcut to be configurable.
Reason: Apparently shortcuts are highly system-dependant. Enabling
configuration would enable distro repo maintainers to set it according to their
system.
( I reopened the report for this purpose )

Works for me too with my system's fontconfig, but the interaction of the KCM
with the fontconfig file is such that it might be theoretically possible if the
fontconfig file is configured a certain way. Need to re-test with the file that
Jerry has provided.

The problem still persists for me too. Although, it is more of a transparent

effect nonetheless.

But unlike before, it works fine for a while after I begin a plasma-wayland

flickering of the message-view when I first open KMail.

2021-01-13 Thread Norbert Preining
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431580

Bug ID: 431580
Summary: mobilebroadbandsettings not responsive, CPU 100%
   Product: plasma-nm
   Version: 5.20.5
  Platform: Debian unstable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jgrul...@redhat.com
  Reporter: norb...@preining.info
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Selecting the "Mobile broadband" entry in the settings application, or
starting it directly with
   systemsettings5 mobilebroadbandsettings
results in 100% CPU on one core, and no output/display is generated.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. systemsettings5 mobilebroadbandsettings

OBSERVED RESULT
The same set of error messages is shown repeatedly (until interrupted):

file:///usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/qml/org/kde/kirigami.2/PageRow.qml:591:5:
QML ColumnView: possible QQuickItem::polish() loop
file:///usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/qml/org/kde/kirigami.2/PageRow.qml:591:5:
QML ColumnView: ColumnView called polish() inside updatePolish() of ColumnView

Nothing is displayed

EXPECTED RESULT

Display of mobile settings, or a warning that this is not supported on the
current device.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.10.7
OS Type: 64-bit

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I tried it on two computers, one laptop and one desktop, both not having a WWAN
interface. I expected an empty display, or a comment no WWAN available, but
nothing was displayed.

[i18n] [Bug 431407] createdoctemplates.sh --check does not work with modern versions of docbookl10nhelper

2021-01-13 Thread Luigi Toscano
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431407

Unless I read it incorrectly (and it may), test -z only checks that the string
is not empty - and indeed it is not - and not for the file existence (that
would be `if ! test -f ${FILE_FOO} || ! test -f ${FILE_BAR}; then`). So while
the condition should be fixed, the code still works as it is.

Summary: MovIt Library produces wrong x-resolution
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 20.12.1
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
SVCD (interlaced 45) Rendering using Movit produces horizontaly-squished video.
Graphics card "Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated
Graphics" (i do not believe this is relevant, it converted ok, just the video
was taller than it is wide). (Maybe the pixel-aspect-ratio?)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have "Use GPU processing" activated.
2. Import SVCD Video (interlaced)
3. render any format I tried: MP4, DivX, etc.
Project-settings Format seems to have no effect.

OBSERVED RESULT
Video was about half as wide as it should have been.
