[frameworks-kunitconversion] [Bug 428464] Missing currencies in the converter of Krunner

2021-04-12 Thread skrachen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428464

update after some research:
I found 2 open-source apps that do currency conversion:
- moneta (github.com/matfantinel/moneta) that uses a custom API, which source
code I could not find
- KEuroCalc (github.com/KDE/keurocalc/blob/master/currencies/currencies.cpp)
which uses the ECB API, plus timegenie API
(https://rss.timegenie.com/forex2.xml). Timegenie API seems to work well and
has many currencies, but I couldn't find any copyright or privacy policy
statement on their site.

Some Central Banks provide exchange rates through APIs:
- Taiwan: ECB data + Taiwanese and vietnamese currencies
(https://rate.bot.com.tw/xrt/fltxt/0/day)
- Vietnam: ECB data + Vietnamese, saudi and kuwaiti currencies
(https://portal.vietcombank.com.vn/Usercontrols/TVPortal.TyGia/pXML.aspx?b=68)
- Israel: there are a few middle eastern currencies missing from the ECB
(https://www.boi.org.il/currency.xml?rdate=20210412)
With only currencies that are already available through the ECB API:
- Brazil: https://opendata.bcb.gov.br/dataset/exchange-rates-daily-bulletins

I did not try resizing the panel. Indeed since the report I have not met the
situation. Since I restart KDE quite oft.
But I have met other situation. When opening the session, my typing is not
represented on the screen. And the screen does not react on mouse clicks.
Though, the correct typing of the password opened the session.
I think those problems are related.

[digikam] [Bug 382645] XMP sidecar file should not contain a packet wrapper

2021-04-12 Thread Michael
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382645

Maik,

that's not correct in my opinion. A XMP sidecar file should start with a XML
header. If Exiv2 doesn't write this header that's IMHO a bug.

Please have a look at the XMP specification from Adobe, Part 3, Storage in
files:
https://www.adobe.com/devnet/xmp.html

On page 7 in section "External storage of metadata" you will find this topic:
"Write the external file as a complete, well-formed XML document, including the
leading XML declaration."

2021-04-12 Thread Matt Fagnani
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434403

I've continued to see this problem when I've logged out of Plasma 5.21.4 with
KF 5.80.0 and logged in within about 40 seconds. If I logged in again after
about 40-60 seconds, then Plasma started normally. When I rebooted or shut down
from Plasma, a systemd message like "A stop job is running for User Manager for
UID 1000" was shown for 40-60 seconds before the reboot or shutdown happened
most of the time.

I noticed in the KF 5.81.0 changelog for kded
https://kde.org/announcements/frameworks/5/5.81.0/ the commit "make kded shut
down cleanly during systemd session teardown"
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kded/-/commit/96aa058b2b70bc19484e649b5bfcbb86d36336ff
I changed /usr/lib/systemd/user/plasma-kded.service like in that commit by
adding the line PartOf=graphical-session.target

I logged in and out multiple times after that making that change, kded5 didn't
abort during logout according to coredumpctl. Plasma started normally each time
I logged in again within 10 seconds of logging out. That commit might be
sufficient to avoid this problem. kwalletd5 still aborted when logging out,
though kwalletd5 appears to just have a dbus-activated systemd service
/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.kwalletd5.service and not a user session one
like kded.

Kirigami cards for notifications

In the Kirigami app, there's so much space wasted. When you have the app
maximized, there's just so much space that could be used by better design. You
could put the devices AND the actions for the selected device in the same bar
on the side.

KDE Connect is great, but there's just so many things that could (possibly)
make it better.

- Moving the actions for the selected device (Multimedia control, remote input,
all of those options) to the bar on the side that contains devices. Put devices
on top, put the actions on the bottom.
- Combine the "KDE Connect SMS" app with the KDE Connect app.
- This one might be too much, but it would still be cool if it existed. Maybe
remote controlling your phone like in the "Your Phone" app on Windows 10?
- Viewing notifications in the app. The notifications should be shown inside of
cards like these (view attachment)

What's classified as settings and what's classified as state can be subtle, but
it's not correct to make the distinction according to an invisible technical
implementation, because the user has no understanding of the implementation and
it will not seem predictable to them.

In general, state is safe to discard with minimal user annoyance, whereas
settings should always be persistent no matter what.

Examples of state:
- Open programs
- Location of windows
- Volume level

Examples of state:
- User-changed settings
- Arrangement of screens
- Widgets, wallpaper, etc

[kwin] [Bug 435674] New: Maximized windows intermittently refuse to close from extreme top-right corner with HiDPI

2021-04-12 Thread Paul McAuley
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435674

Bug ID: 435674
Summary: Maximized windows intermittently refuse to close from
extreme top-right corner with HiDPI
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.21.4
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@paulmcauley.com
  Target Milestone: ---

This is a rather annoying intermittent bug that has been plaguing me for years.
I have my display scaling set to 2.5x and sometimes my maximized windows refuse
to close when the pointer is in the extreme top-right of the screen.

In the video at
http://www.paulmcauley.com/kde/bugs/client_width_maximize_bug.mp4 I have a
terminal with output being shown from the following placed in the Breeze window
decoration code:
qDebug() << "Client width:" << client().data()->width();

I was trying to debug whether this was being caused by the window decoration or
the client, but it seems that under normal circumstances for my setup my client
width when maximized is 3700px, and when the bug occurs the client width is
3699px or less. That would suggest that this is an issue caused by the client.

I can only speculate about what is causing such an intermittent bug -- integer
arithmetic instead of floating point when scaled by a non-integer value of
x2.5? rounding errors?

The trigger appears to be that any audio track is locked. I had 2 audio tracks,
both were locked. By unlocking both of them, the project file now closes as
expected. Locking either audio track still reproduces the symptom. Locking
video tracks do NOT trigger the problem. Yay, simple workaround.

Not really functionally since they both display the same content, but it is odd
to end up with a file path which a normal user would never normally navigate
to. It does also not allow the same kind of navigation to parent directories.

The observation is indeed a minor one. If you consider this to be too
insignificant, then I am in no position to question that. :^)

That is what I was replying to.
Put it differently:
all that is backed by KConfig internally (volume, brightness etc.) - are
settings and should save regardless of session management.
The current layout is different beast - is doesn't need to be saved on every
change (the same way you don't probably save Lock keys on every state change or
window position on every resize/move) and logically belong to session.
So different behavior of these two are intentional.
I can agree the difference is subtle and I might be wrong here but at least
it's my point currently :)

Retrying in Discover to replicate the bug, I've noticed the following:

* When opening Discover after was already notified that there are updates does
not immediately trigger a check for updates.
* After starting the updates install and disconnecting from the internet, was
quickly presented with a banner at the bottom that there was a failure (could
not copy the text from there
* After about the same amount of time I waited for `pkcon update` to fail
Discover stopped the update process with a message stating that there was a
problem with updating. The details were the same error message as pkcon
* Dismissing that error message
* Hovering from the app list to the "Renunță" (Cancel/Abort) button reveals
another hidden button, that disappears immediately if I move my mouse again. It
does not appear if I come from the sides. (see screenshot)
* Clicking the Abort button resets the view.

I would have expected the view to reset after I acknowledged the network error.

Git commit 2edd4823e656cc0c4d3177aaeb8000165d1e1606 by Eoin O'Neill.
Committed on 12/04/2021 at 20:14.
Pushed by eoinoneill into branch 'master'.

Fixed two bugs regarding animated content and transforms.

1) Flattening a layer w/ transform content will now properly render out all
keyframes
with proper transform (no more blanks).
2) Transform masks will always render properly on animated layers when there
are no keyframes on the transform mask, but there is content on the transformed
layer.
There were certain circumstances where no projection update was applied at all,
which
was not intended.

[digikam] [Bug 382645] XMP sidecar file should not contain a packet wrapper

2021-04-12 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382645

If I create a sidecar with "exiv2 -eX image.jpg", the format is identical to
digiKam. In addition, we have to use an Exiv2::Image so that Exif and IPTC
metadata can also be mapped to XMP via the internal Exiv2 conversion table. For
me, the Darktable sidecar is an XML file to map the history of the image
processing.

Maik Qualmann changed:

 CC||metzping...@gmail.com

If I see that correctly, Exiv2 does not write the "" Header, but Darktable.
The option Exiv2::XmpParser::omitPacketWrapper only prevents an XMP packet
wrapper from being created, but only in the Exiv2::XmpParser::encode()
function. And that's exactly the difference between digiKam and Darktable, we
create an Exiv2::Image of the Exiv2::ImageType::xmp type ==> sidecar.
We cannot set the Exiv2::XmpParser::omitPacketWrapper at all. Darktable uses
Exiv2::XmpParser::encode() to copy the XMP metadata into a string and then
write it to a file. I think our Xmp creation is the right way provided by
Exiv2.

When this happens, is the ksystemstats daemon running? It is supposed to be

Is this happening only login, or are the widgets blank the moment you add them?

We have no influence on the availability of the server. But I see that in
principle, a different mirror server is always used at random. The "try again"

These days, most zoom icons used pretty much anywhere take the form of a
magnifying glass with a plus, minus, or equals sign in it.

However Breeze icons diverges from this convention, in an attempt to show a
more literal depiction of a zooming operation. In my opinion, it doesn't really
work to communicate the point, and also suffers by diverging form the common
magnifying glass iconography--flawed though it may be.

   Product: krita

Crash log for all threads

SUMMARY
If you add a shape from vector library, and then, without deselecting that
shape, you add another one, you'll get a safe assert window, and then a
crash/freeze/another assert.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Build Krita with safe assert dialogs on.
2. Drag a shape from a vector library to the canvas (remember that Pepper &
carrot shapes are white and will be invisible on white canvas). Do not unselect
the shape.
3. Optional: switch to another vector library.
4. Drag another shape on the canvas.

OBSERVED RESULT
In case of "optional", I get a weird situation when I don't have my X11 hang
up, but the safe assert window doesn't react to either Abort or Ignore.
If I break it in gdb, I get the crash log as shown below.

In case without the optional step, my whole X11 hangs up so I cannot tell what
the backtrace is.

EXPECTED RESULT
No safe asserts. No crashes. No freezes.

NOTE
On Krita 4.4.3 you already get those safe asserts:
SAFE ASSERT (krita): "srcShape->parent() == excludeRoot" in file
/home/appimage/workspace/Krita_Release_Appimage_Build/krita/libs/flake/KoShapeManager.cpp,
line 512
SAFE ASSERT (krita): "clonedShapes.size() == originalShapes.size()" in file
/home/appimage/workspace/Krita_Release_Appimage_Build/krita/libs/flake/KoShapeManager.cpp,
line 534

[kdeconnect] [Bug 435668] New: Since F33 kdeconnect can't find android devices

2021-04-12 Thread BenderIRC
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435668

Bug ID: 435668
Summary: Since F33 kdeconnect can't find android devices
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: 1.6
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: android-application
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: kdebugtrac...@benderirc.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Version-Release number of selected component:

Linux: 20.04.1-1Fedora 33+ and others
Android: 1.14.2 + 1.16.0 AOS5

SUMMERY

Since an upgrade from F32 to F33, the F33 laptop can't find nor be found by any
android device.

A pinephone running kdeconnect with rawhide can't be found either by the
android device.

The rawhide pinephone and the F33 laptop can find and pair itself.

F32 Desktop pc with 20.04.1-1 can find F33 laptop with 20.04.1-1.

The Android 1.16.0 can find F32, but can't find F33+.

All firewalls are down:

firewalld is inactive
iptables got flushed with -F

A tcpdump on f33 shows in fact connected tcp traffic between those two devices,
on the tcp port, but no sign of the other device.

Some dependency lib seems to cause this, as F32 and F33 are the same build
version and behave differently. => KF5 Framework

NOTE:

A similar problem has been reported today on Pinephone Matrix international
chat, by a, most likely, none Fedora user.

Thanks.

Is anything printed to the console when this happens? You can see by running
`plasmashell --replace` in a terminal window and then clicking on a grouped
task.

[plasmashell] [Bug 431481] Keyboard layout is considered state rather than settings on Wayland, so it gets reset when using clean sessions

2021-04-12 Thread Andrey
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431481

Medin, this is because the current layout was considered state and not a
setting.
The setting saves in the moment you change it (usually backed by KConfig object
internally).
The state saves when session saves, so happens only when you exit the session
(and set it to be restored) or save it manually.
