I don't even see a grouping option. Just entries with categories. Are you guys
getting confused with Task Manager icons/text?

This is meant to be about System Tray Settings screen and adding a manual
adjustment to its entries. For example I would like my VPN icon to be next to
my Network Icon etc.. But atm it can't do that as its automatically sorted (and
not very well)..

Shortcut keys for Select Multiple Layer Mode and Rectangle Tool

SUMMARY
Using the Select Multiple Layer Mode shortcut key causes the switch to the
Rectangle Tool.

When painting, I need to switch the Freehand Brush Tool after using the Select
Multiple Layer Mode shortcut key(Shift+R+Left button).

I think it is better to change the shortcut key for Select Multiple Layer Mode
to R+Shift+Left button, so that you will not switch to the Rectangle Tool.

Color picking activates the lasso line from the source of the color pick point.

SUMMARY
When you try color picking while in the freehand path tool, the action of
picking a color also activates the freehand path tool, causing the lasso to be
dragged from the source of the color pick point to wherever your cursor
goes. This does not happen in krita 4.5

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select the freehand path tool
2. Change fill to foreground color
3. Change outline to no outline or brush
4. Try picking a color on the canvas

OBSERVED RESULT
The lasso tool gets activated and it's stuck leading to an unintended fill.

EXPECTED RESULT
When you color pick something while in the Freehand path tool, It should work
the same as when you're using it in brush mode. Both tools need to remain
separate from each other.

[digikam] [Bug 440170] New: Add an option to set digiKam's startup album location

Bug ID: 440170

   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.3.0
  Platform: Other
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Usability-Ergonomy
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tyson...@tysontan.com
  Target Milestone: ---

digiKam currently shows the last used location at startup. This works well for
most situations except:

1) When a location contains confidential/sensitive content, which you don't
want to be disclosed to certain opponents.

2) When the album's tree is very deep and you need to switch between branches
very often. In this case, you'd want digiKam to open a certain centralized
location on each startup.

Therefore, I wish digiKam can implement an option to set its startup album
location. It should contain the following options:

[] Welcome page
[] Last used location
[] Specific location [PATH] [EDIT]

Thank you for your time!

Thanks. This problem looks similar to that reported at
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434290 I noticed that
/tmp/startkdeinitlock was present when the Plasma startup delay happened, but
not otherwise. /tmp/startkdeinitlock was a text file containing

kdeinit5_shutdown
localhost.localdomain

The kdeinit5_shutdown process was running when the problem happened, but it
wasn't running when the problem wasn't happening. kdeinit5_shutdown and
/tmp/startkdeinitlock seemed to be left over from the first Plasma session, and
they might be blocking Plasma and other programs from starting normally. I
tried removing /tmp/startkdeinitlock and stopping kdeinit5_shutdown, and the
problem seemed to go away at least for starting Dolphin and loading the desktop

When I've logged out of Plasma 5.22.3 with KF 5.83.0 and Qt 5.15.2 and earlier
on Wayland in a Fedora 34 KDE Plasma installation then logged in again, Plasma
was delayed by 30 seconds when starting remaining on the splash screen for that
long. The desktop icons took another 30 seconds to appear. Certain KDE programs
such as Dolphin and Gwenview took 30 seconds to start. The file selection
dialogs in Qt-based programs like VLC took 30 seconds to start. The most
relevant messages in the journal when this delay happened were like
kded5[9321]: kf.dbusaddons: 'kdeinit5' is taking more than 30 seconds to start.
The journal when logging in to Plasma on Wayland was delayed after logging out
as the same user is attached at
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1985151

I first noticed this problem when logging out from Plasma on Wayland as one
user then logging into Plasma on Wayland as a second user. This problem
happened most of the time when doing so over the last few weeks at least. I had
set KillUserProcesses=yes in /etc/systemd/logind.conf to stop the user session
processes during that time. I changed that to #KillUserProcesses=yes in
/etc/systemd/logind.conf. After that change, Plasma and other programs were
delayed by 30 seconds when I logged out as one user and logged in again as the
same user. These observations led me to think that some processes or files were
left over after ending the first Plasma session which might be
kdeinit5_shutdown and /tmp/startkdeinitlock as I describe below.

A similar report about Dolphin taking 30 s to start noted that
/tmp/startkdeinitlock was left after logging out as userA and logging in as
userB at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439606 I noticed that
/tmp/startkdeinitlock was present when the Plasma startup delay happened, but
not otherwise. /tmp/startkdeinitlock was a text file containing
9014
kdeinit5_shutdown
localhost.localdomain

The kdeinit5_shutdown process was running when the problem happened, but it
wasn't running when the problem wasn't happening. kdeinit5_shutdown and
/tmp/startkdeinitlock seemed to be left over from the first Plasma session, and
they might be blocking Plasma and other programs from starting normally. I
tried removing /tmp/startkdeinitlock and stopping kdeinit5_shutdown, and the
problem seemed to go away at least for starting Dolphin and loading the desktop

[krita] [Bug 440169] New: Painting with brushes on canvas slow and unresponsive compared to scratchpad in brush settings

2021-07-22 Thread Michał Staruch
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440169

Bug ID: 440169
Summary: Painting with brushes on canvas slow and unresponsive
compared to scratchpad in brush settings
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.4.5
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Brush Engine/Bristle
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: michal.star...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 140267
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=140267=edit
Krita v4.4.5, canvas vs scratchpad (comparison of quickly drawed rounded
shapes)

SUMMARY
Painting on canvas is slow and unresponsive compared to painting on scratchpad
in brush settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create simplest possible harx 1px brush (disable all the flow etc. settings)
2. Try very quickly drawing a few rounded shapes
3. Enter brush setting and very quickly drawing similar shape on the
scratchpad.

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Drawing on the scratchbad works as it should: fluid, very responsive, shapes
are properly rounded exactly as mouse was moved - comparable experience to
commercial products like Clip Paint Studio. Feels like 500 Hz, comparable to
mouse input events rate.
2. Drawing on the canvas is absolutely painful. Sluggish, shapes are more
square than round, doesn't feel responsive at all. Feels like 30 Hz.

I am attaching screenshot illustrating difference in the results.

EXPECTED RESULT
Drawing on the canvas working similarily smooth to drawing on the scratchpad in
brush settings.

Without that whole drawing experience is just ruined - like half information
from mouse is lost, rounded shapes are turned into squares, etc.

I would say it would be best to open a new bug, under frameworks-kfilemetadata,
say you've got test files, some that show "Duration" and some that don't. Say
they are too big to upload and see what's proposed.

... Well done replicating the issue. If a 10 second video is still 100 Mbyte it
does seem unlikely that you can get it down to 4 :-/

I'm not asking to make all of Krita transparent, only the drawing canvas part.
I want the toolbars, menus, all other things to be opaque. I want it to be
fast, switching to the 3D modeling program. Not everyone can draw, so tracing
is an option. This way, it will be fast.

Git commit c399a11054fffafb86938077a0591c05a4a3511c by Nate Graham, on behalf
of David Hurka.
Committed on 22/07/2021 at 21:05.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'release/21.08'.

Fix Page Up/Down scrolling when scrollbars are turned off

PageView::slotScrollUp/Down() queried the size of the scrollbar instead of the
viewport,
which has no obvious reason and doesn’t work when scrollbars are not there.

Probably the scrollbar size was thought to be more robust
in times when PageView had overshoot enabled.

Also fixes code documentation for these methods,
and removes another spaghetti feature where Continuous mode was queried
in an `if` branch before the one where it is relevant.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 438854] PC3 Text input no longer uses desktop color for schemes that want it (e.g. Oxygen)

2021-07-22 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438854

It would be trivial to simply use viewTextColor and remove the colorgroup
stuff, but it seems like we should fix the colorgroup stuff not working
properly here.

I notice that PC3 TextArea is using viewTextColor rather than textColor with
the view color group set, so it's working simply because it uses the old
PC2-style code. Once the bug is fixed, we should port that over too.

2021-07-22 Thread Nate Graham

I think I found it. In
/home/nate/kde/src/plasma-framework/src/plasma/private/theme_p.cpp, there's
this:

   elements[QStringLiteral("%textcolor")] =
color(status == Svg::Status::Selected ? Theme::HighlightedTextColor :
Theme::TextColor, Theme::NormalColorGroup).name();

So it always uses the normal color group and does not respect the active color
group, boo.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 438854] PC3 Text input no longer uses desktop color for schemes that want it (e.g. Oxygen)

2021-07-22 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438854

In the old PC2 version (plasmastyle/TextFieldStyle.qml), we had this:

textColor: control.enabled ? PlasmaCore.Theme.viewTextColor :
Qt.rgba(PlasmaCore.Theme.viewTextColor.r, PlasmaCore.Theme.viewTextColor.g,
PlasmaCore.Theme.viewTextColor.b, 0.6)
selectionColor: PlasmaCore.Theme.highlightColor
selectedTextColor: PlasmaCore.Theme.viewHighlightedTextColor
placeholderTextColor: Qt.rgba(PlasmaCore.Theme.viewTextColor.r,
PlasmaCore.Theme.viewTextColor.g, PlasmaCore.Theme.viewTextColor.b, 0.5)

In the new PC3 version (plasmacomponents3/TextField.qml )we have this:

PlasmaCore.ColorScope.colorGroup: PlasmaCore.Theme.ViewColorGroup

color: PlasmaCore.Theme.textColor
placeholderTextColor: PlasmaCore.Theme.disabledTextColor
selectionColor: PlasmaCore.Theme.highlightColor
selectedTextColor: PlasmaCore.Theme.highlightedTextColor

So both are attempting to use the view color group's text color, rather than
the window color group's text color. However only the PC2 version is succeeding
at it.

Ensuring that `PlasmaCore.ColorScope.inherit: false` is set in the PC3 version
does not have any effect, so I don't think it's an accidental inheritance
issue.

Bug ID: 440166
Summary: Dragging GTK4 Windows by HeaderBar or WindowHandle

  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux

SUMMARY
After dragging a GTK4 window by GtkHeaderBar or GtkWindowHandle, the window
remains in a non-interactive state where only dragging is possible until after
the first click. i.e. the first click on any other widget is ignored.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open gtk4-demo
2. Begin dragging the window by the HeaderBar.
3. Then, try to click anywhere outside the HeaderBar in the window.

OBSERVED RESULT
The first click anywhere outside the HeaderBar is ignored. This also allows the
user to drag the window from anywhere on the window until after the first click
(by clicking, not dragging, anywhere else first).

EXPECTED RESULT
The first click outside the HeaderBar should activate the widget that the
cursor was hovered over.

[kwin] [Bug 438198] In wayland moving a window to another desktop becomes a needlessly complicated task

2021-07-22 Thread Oded Arbel

The current version of kwin on wayland (neon unstable) now has two sets of
entries in the "Desktops" windows operation sub-menu: checkboxes for applying
the window to multiple desktops and a new set of entries that are labeled "move
window to ".

This is indeed a solution to this bug, and I'm OK with that, though I wouldn't
say the result look is particularly nice.

I have two monitors and if I close application as maximized and open it than
the application opens always on my left monitor. Totally ignores where is my
cursor located.
For example System Monitor will open on left monitor as maximized but not in
maximized state. But Firefox opens in maximized state but if I click restore
down than it will be still maximized but it switeches from maximized state to
restore down state. Overall applications does not remember their positions and
sizes.

[okular] [Bug 421040] Mouse warp effect can't be disabled (wrap to opposite screen edge at drag srolling)

2021-07-22 Thread Eduardo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421040

Eduardo changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||zl...@hotmail.com

Hi,

I'm another user that's annoyed by this feature. Sometimes I drag the document
down, unintentionally slightly crossing the bottom edge of the display, so when
I release I find that my cursor is at the very top of the screen, while my
mouse is at the physical bottom edge of my mouse pad. So I have to lift the
mouse and reposition it.

I think it is fair to have an option under "Settings -> Configure Okular ->
General -> Enable scrolling beyond screen edges". It could be enabled by
default, so current users wouldn't even notice the change, but users would
quickly find how to disable it if they wanted to. I know I tried to look for
this, only to be frustrated there was no way to disable it.

As an alternative suggestion, maybe the feature could be altered to make the
mouse cursor stay at the edge of the screen while virtually dragging beyond the
edge. So endless scroll would still be possible, just the cursor wouldn't warp
to the opposite edge, ie. if the user drags the document down, the document
would continue to scroll as long as the user keeps dragging the mouse down, but
the cursor itself would remain constrained at the bottom of the screen, not
warping to the top. This would prevent accidental warps that happens when the
user unintentionally pushes just a bit over the edge.

[korganizer] [Bug 440147] KOrganizer doesn't show imported .ical calendar (but uploads it to the server successfully)

2021-07-22 Thread Szőts Ákos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440147

Sorry, I was indeed vague on my setup. So I received the .ical file from
someone who created that on their Google Calendar. I have a CalDAV server on my
own machine to which KOrganizer is connected. I opened the received .ical file
in KMail for processing by KOrganizer. The local CalDAV server successfully
stored the event by KOrganizer (which I can verify in an other calendar
application).

Yes, the calendar is enabled. I tried to turn it on/off multiple times now and
it correctly shows/hides all the events for that calendar with the exception of
this one.

Akonadiconsole completely correctly shows the event (I could find it by the
local UUID). Its payload tab is perfectly showing the details.

The event doesn't have a VTODO section, only a VEVENT.

I'm now anonymising the .ics file and I'll try to reproduce the bug with it. If
it's successful, I'll send the file to your e-mail address.

Ps.: I tried to import the same file multiple times (because it said it was
successful - see Bug 440145) and even in case of multiple imports the entry
wasn't shown (though the conflicting UUID must have had some influence on it).

[krita] [Bug 440165] New: Transform tool hides layer after operation is committed(in-stack preview off)

2021-07-22 Thread stephen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440165

Bug ID: 440165
Summary: Transform tool hides layer after operation is
committed(in-stack preview off)
   Product: krita
Version: git master (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: unspecified
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools/Transform
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tgdev...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
This issue has to do with a pre alpha build of Krita 5.0(git version
48a5eb7) and is related to the Transform tool. Everytimes we exit transform
after activation, the layer being transformed is unexpectedly hidden.
And won't show unless we click the "hide/show" button again in the layer
docker.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have some raster data on an active layer
2. Go into Transform Mode
3. Press Enter to exit Transform Mode

OBSERVED RESULT
Your raster data disappears from the Canvas after you exit the Transform mode.

EXPECTED RESULT
The raster data is meant to stay visible after we exit
the transform mode.

SUMMARY

The web feed at https://planet.kde.org/ should show a preview or thumbnail of a

It should also not mangle the paragraphing of the description of the video as
it currently does. Maybe this can be avoided by just showing the title of the
video, instead of the full description.
