SUMMARY

Gwenview has a new UI since 21.08.0. However, I found that there is no way to
open the settings / configuration menu in the new version.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open any image with Gwenview
2. Right-click and go through all menus and buttons
3. Press ALT
4. Open Gwenview through launcher (i.e. no image is loaded)
5. Repeat steps 2-3

OBSERVED RESULT

I cannot find any button or entry which opens Gwenview's settings.

Pressing ALT also does not help, no menu bar is displayed.

If I open a blank Gwenview instance (no image is loaded), right-click does
nothing and no right-click menu is displayed.

check the box for it to use the internal Xplanet. You also can still run the

Politics aside most people still have Nvidia GPUs and GNOME Wayland on Nvidia
runs like a breeze (ha-ha-ha).

I honestly thought that Wayland would be the catalyst for Plasma to catch up to
GNOME in terms of Nvidia support.
Plasma Nvidia Wayland sessions are horribly unstable (broken UI, lags,
consistent crashes after updating any setting whether Window Rules, Scripts or
Decorations, Monitor Scaling, Positioning you name it) while GNOME Nvidia
Wayland literally just works (haven't had a single crash since 470 driver came
out even doing "funny/weird" stuff).

Hi,

I can't see a way to export more than one picture from a layer. For example.
Layer A with 5 different key frames. Maybe there could be a feature where
clicking it you choose the layer you want to export and then you have a file
with the 5 unique keyframes of that layer.

Ok, more weirdness I wiped out the imap and the mailtransports in kwallet
manager after closing kontact first. I came back, and imap is still getting
fetched without those; and saving the password still doesn't take even though
one was added to mailtransports.

[frameworks-kwindowsystem] [Bug 441266] Build now broken if project doesn't configure extra-cmake-modules

2021-08-20 Thread Jan Blackquill
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441266

Projects need to depend on ECM and adjust the CMAKE_MODULE_PATH like so, in
order to depend on KWindowSystem:

find_package(ECM REQUIRED NO_MODULE)
set(CMAKE_MODULE_PATH ${ECM_MODULE_PATH})

If they don't, the build fails with this error:

ERROR: CMake Error at
/usr/share/cmake/Modules/CMakeFindDependencyMacro.cmake:47 (find_package):
By not providing "FindXCB.cmake" in CMAKE_MODULE_PATH this project has
asked CMake to find a package configuration file provided by "XCB", but
  CMake did not find one.

Could not find a package configuration file provided by "XCB" with any of
  the following names:

XCBConfig.cmake
xcb-config.cmake

Add the installation prefix of "XCB" to CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH or set "XCB_DIR"
to a directory containing one of the above files. If "XCB" provides a
separate development package or SDK, be sure it has been installed.
Call Stack (most recent call first):

/home/jpontaoski/kde/usr/lib64/cmake/KF5WindowSystem/KF5WindowSystemConfig.cmake:36
(find_dependency)
  CMakeLists.txt:11 (find_package)

This is because FindXCB is provided by ECM.

Before the named commits, projects using KWindowSystem didn't need to have the
above ECM snippet.

cb40e3d63fa849ed3cec6f7420cf7420e8206e0a now require the user of KWindowSystem
to explicitly depend on and adjust CMake's module path as per standard for ECM,
where this wasn't needed before.

This breaks projects that depended on it without configuring ECM.

Same issue.

I noticed that if I switch my default Konsole profile to the "Default" and then
disable "Remember window size" it doesn't crash anymore.

I created a new profile, didn't modify it, made it the default, "Remember
window size" still disabled and Konsole launches without problems.

Started looking what settings differ between my profile and the default one,
set the initial terminal size to 130x28 for my new profile. Still works.

Up next color scheme, switched it to "White on Black" and boom, crashes on
startup.

Tested other color schemes, working ones:
Black on Light Yellow
Black on Random Light
Black on White
Blue on Black
Breeze
Dark Pastels
Green on Black
Linux Colors
Solarized
Solarized Light

Crash on startup:
Red on Black
White on Black

Looking further I've noticed that only the 2 crashing color schemes had "Blur
background" enabled. With that disabled it no longer crashes.

So it seems an issue with combining blurred backgroung (even with 0%
transparency) with NOT remembering window size. Weird.

I no longer think this is app armor, at least not the source of my problem. I
disabled app armor, rebooted my system and the problem stil exists where it
isn't persisting the smtp password. I've tried editing the sending settings,
and adding it there with the save box checked. I come back there's no ***, when
it asks me on send I make sure the save box is checked. still nothing, still
asks me the next time. I could do with a workaround. I'd save the password
myself if I knew what it was going to look at. I have looked via kwallet
manager and under mailtransports -> passwords it is saved in there, and it's
the same password as under imap -> akonadi... and when I paste it into the
prompt on send it works.

SUMMARY
I observed that whenever I open "Save As" dialog I have always the same,
default value of file type, which is saved in configuration file
(~/.config/spectaclerc) in field: "defaultSaveImageFormat".
In configuration there is no any option which forcing this, so why Spectacle
doesn't remember recently used file type to save? This really annoying for me.
I prefer one type and Spectacle forces different and every time I need to
change it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. make any screen shot
2. invoke "Save as" and select different file type
3. click "Save"
4. make another screen shot
5. invoke "Save as" and look at "File type"

OBSERVED RESULT
always the same default file type, set in configuration file

EXPECTED RESULT
recently used file type, alternatively switched by option in configuration and
by default set as "recently used file type".

The Playlist does show which track is currently playing; an icon is displayed
instead of the track number, and the text becomes bold. There is a button in
the toolbar to scroll to the currently playing song. Admittedly, it is an
icons-only button with an incomprehensible icon, so you probably never thought
to over your cursor over it to see what it does.

[Elisa] [Bug 441245] reposition Show Playlist button

This doesn't make sense right now, because both the button and the playlist are
on the right. If we moved the button to the left, it would be far away from the
thing that it affects, which would be a little weird.

If EQ settings get added in the future, there are many options for where to put
the button to access the feature, Perhaps even on the left side of the window.

The settings window is positioned using your chosen KWin window placement mode.

However this is inappropriate; it should be using a dialog window instead,
which is always centered in the parent window.

[kmail2] [Bug 441260] New: Confusing "Mark Message" menu UX

2021-08-20 Thread Sebastian Krzyszkowiak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441260

Bug ID: 441260
Summary: Confusing "Mark Message" menu UX
   Product: kmail2
   Version: Git (master)
  Platform: unspecified
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: UI
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@dosowisko.net
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 140883
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=140883=edit
"Mark Message" menu screenshot

(version: 5.18.0 [there's no such option in the Version field to choose])

For a message that's marked as important, its "Mark Message" menu presents a
selected checkbox with "Remove Important Mark" label (see the attached
screenshot).

That's... confusing. It suggests that removal of important mark is now being
active, so effectively tells that the message is not marked as important, which
isn't true. Unchecking it makes the label change to "Mark Message as
Important", which makes much more sense.

The confusion comes from the fact that KMail presents an action-based wording
in a context that strongly suggest a state-based one. Possible solutions:

- keep the label as "Mark Message as Important" and don't change it for
messages already marked as such, as the checkbox already tells the user whether
the message is marked or not and what will happen after toggling it

- remove the checkbox; keep the current label's behavior. This will make it
clear that the label represents an action that happens after selecting it and
not the current state.

- split the menu item into two items (mark / unmark) with only one enabled at
once. As a bonus, this would make it consistent with "Mark Message as
Read/Unread" entries right above.

The same issue applies to "Mark Message as Action Item" entry as well.

But it must also be said that having to read all of the metadata will not speed
up the first scan of a collection. For this I would recommend a NAS that can
also be connected via USB. It is now very easy to switch the collection to
network later.
