[kate] [Bug 445103] New: Allow build plugin to show terminal application output

2021-11-06 Thread Thiago Sueto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445103

Bug ID: 445103
Summary: Allow build plugin to show terminal application output
   Product: kate
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: herzensch...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I noticed the build plugin is lacking one thing:

* GUI applications show up fine
* Terminal applications do not show output

Given that external tools already work well with terminal tools as they can
show their output in a pane, could we have the same thing for the build plugin?
It should be handy for when developing any terminal tool, including
QCoreApplication ones. This way it would be trivial to have a Run target to
easily test terminal applications.

I commanded the telescope to look at the Sun and it went straight to it -
without the usual prompt warning me about pointing at the Sun.

[konqueror] [Bug 445102] New: Keybindings are not persistent between sessions

2021-11-06 Thread T . M . Láska
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445102

Bug ID: 445102
Summary: Keybindings are not persistent between sessions
   Product: konqueror
   Version: 21.08.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konq-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: travala...@firemail.cc
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The Konqueror Web Browser does not appear to remember the keybindings set by
the user after a session is exited, nor does the program seem to remember them
even after the user applies the keybindings within the Keybindings GUI.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the Keybindings window.
2. Make any shortcut change.
3. Apply the change and confirm the change by pressing OK.
3a. Close the Konqueror Web Browser and check the Keybindings window to see the
keybindings have automatically reverted back to the default keybindings.

OBSERVED RESULT
The Konqueror Web Browser has not made the user-inputted keybindings
persistent, nor does it apply the user-specified keybindings when they are
requested to be applied by the user.

EXPECTED RESULT
The Konqueror Web Browser should be able to apply the keybindings persistently
the same way the browser has successfully applied other settings persistently,
such as the arrangement and visibility of my toolbars.

[plasmashell] [Bug 445100] New: Wake the screen when backspace is pressed

2021-11-06 Thread John Eric
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445100

Bug ID: 445100
Summary: Wake the screen when backspace is pressed
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.22.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Theme - Breeze
  Assignee: visual-des...@kde.org
  Reporter: johne...@waf.io
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Wake the screen and show the password prompt when the backspace key is pressed

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. lock the screen
2. press the backspace key
3. nothing appears (except confusion)

OBSERVED RESULT
The screen stays off and the password prompt does not appear

EXPECTED RESULT
The prompt for the entering the password should appear (it happens with the
escape, shift or control keys).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.22.5 (Kubuntu Impish)
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.86.0
Qt Version: 5.12.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I do not always lock my screen, and I usually have a terminal running. Typing
the password directly can accidentally enter it in unwanted apps, so I press
the backspace key instead (which works on many other systems and screen
lockers).

While the backspace is really the one that I miss, I believe that any other key
should also activate the screen locker.

[kwin] [Bug 172921] Dialog Parent conflicts with eyedropper

2021-11-06 Thread Tyson Tan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172921

No, I can confirm this issue still happens in KolourPaint and
KColorSchemeEditor.

To simple KDE art-related apps, notably in KolourPaint, our MSPaint equivalent,
this bug still cause the app's color picker (which is a core function) to be
basically useless. Users of this kind of simple MSPaint equivalent rely heavily
on picking color on canvas, this bug makes it impossible to do so, and on that
note, greatly reduced the usability of the app.

It once affected Krita's color picker, which makes this bug even more important
in my opinion. Disabling Dialogue Parent effect has been the first-to-do after
installing a system for years now. However in today's test, I found out that
Krita now seems to have implemented some kind of workaround to this. When I use
Krita's Palette color picker, it doesn't darken the main window anymore.

For a bug that causes KDE apps to lose a core function ONLY on KDE's own
platform, I think this needs to be fixed or Dialogue Parent effect should be
disabled by default. It makes no sense to break a core function for some
superfluous visual effect.

There are two sub-menu options under 'More Actions ...' activated via context
menu when RH click on a window title bar. Viz:
1. Configure Special WIndow Settings
2. COnfigure Special Application Settings

The bug reported here appers to have been dealt with .. see attachments 1 & 2
as editor for 'Special Application Settings' now seems to always agree
with what is held under 'Window Rules' for the application.

However i for one have always been confused by these two options .. see
attachments 3 & 4 which show what appears to be the same 'Size and Position'
data, but clearly not reading what is already set under the forementioned
'Windows Rules' dialog under 'System Settings, 'Window Management', 'Window
Rules'

Consequently i only ever use the second option .. 'Special Application
Settings' when configuring size and postion

@David Hurka this is different from 444297, that one is about not being able to
open the document, this one is just poppler saying "your document is broken, we
did the best we could to show it".

@Teddy, the only way to debug it without you sharing the PDF is you doing the
debugging. Or you can share the PDF with us.

I'm going to mark this bug as NEEDSINFO because there is no other way to
proceed unless we have the PDF file, and even if we have, the answer you're
most probably going to get is what already said "the document is malformed and
we're doing the best we can to show it"

nVidia has stopped supporting such old generation of GPUs in the kernel. So, I
decided to upgrade GPU and I no longer have such problem and I also don't have
to use suggested patch above. But I didn't try to use old GPU with opensource

I have not noticed issues with video playback in a while.

Using my test application, I did get a rather stuttering 20fps -- but then
after restarting KWin, it is up to 60fps. So it seems like in principle KWin
can handle this properly, but sometimes it might get into a degraded state? Not
sure how to reproduce this though.

[neon] [Bug 445099] New: Program freeze when setting file path

2021-11-06 Thread Markus Bernges
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=445099

Bug ID: 445099
Summary: Program freeze when setting file path
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: janbern...@gmail.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 143299
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=143299=edit
Screenshot of OBS and System Monitor directly after OBS freeze

SUMMARY
KDE Neon freshly installed and packages updated. NVidida drivers installed.
Setting folder path in selected programs causes program to freeze.
Way to unfreeze is kill program via system monitor. Manually typing path seems
to be the only way to set them.

Observed in:
OBS
QBittorrent

Not observed in:
VLC
Firefox

Similarities between OBS and Qbit:
Both load xdg-dbus-proxy when started, and kioslave5 before freezing. VLC and
Firefox lack xdg-dbus-proxy, only open kioslave5.

sudo apt-get install --reinstall xdg-dbus-proxy doesn't help.

Problem was also observed on a newly flashed KDE Neon install usb stick with
QBittorrent.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install OBS via Discover
2. Open Settings > Output > Record Path
3. Manually choose path, window opens, then freezes.
4. Optionally try on fresh install stick.

OBSERVED RESULT
Freeze

EXPECTED RESULT
Select folder to save files in /home/user/videos

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
