[plasmashell] [Bug 450707] Wayland crash when trying to add widget to panel

2022-03-08 Thread Ivar Erikson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450707

Sorry for the lack of response. I can't quite figure out how to get the debug
package(s). Tried installing kdelibs5-dbgsym (sudo apt install
kdelibs5-dbgsym), as mentioned on the wiki, but that came up with no package
found. Tried apt-cache search:

USER - > apt-cache search kdelibs5*
libkf5kdelibs4support-data - Porting aid from KDELibs4.
libkf5kdelibs4support-dev - development files for kde4support
libkf5kdelibs4support5 - Porting aid from KDELibs4.
libkf5kdelibs4support5-bin - Porting aid from KDELibs4.

The wiki page isn't very helpful, since not even the example of kdepim-dbg
comes up when I try to use apt-cache search, and I'm not quite sure which
application that was the culprit. sudo apt install libdraganddropplugin-dbgsym
doesn't yield anything.
When the crash occured, I got a list of something, but it wasn't really clear
what I was supposed to do with them.

On a side note, the crash/bug handler could benefit from contain info on what
packages you need to install (i.e. hand-holding for). Currently it's "Please
install debug symbols, here's a list of files" but that only showed file paths
to some file or other, not "these are the packages you need to install".

Is there some sort of "plasma mega debug package" I can install to get every
debug symbol I might need? :D

Opening and saving AVIF works, I just had to add avif into the list of
Additional image file extensions.

libyuv is indeed optional, it can accelerate decoding process.

What about some option like "Start ADF batch scans automatically" or such,
which is checked by default if m_executeMultiPageScanning is evaluated to be
true? This way, this could be unchecked for e.g. the Brother DS-640, and the
underlying infrastructure would not have to be changed?

There was no consensus or majority apparent for users who expressed their
opinions in their votes.
In fact most users who voted in the discussion seem to see the new behavior as
good, but this was no proper poll.

> Throwing completely unrelated files together and giving it a name about

> and not something most normal users do

We cannot make assumptions on how users are disciplined in creating
semantically relevant folders and storing only files relating to that.
That's the error previous behavior did.

How about the Downloads folder ?
How about a Videos dirs containing subtitles ?
A document directory containing photos ?

> Zipping a bunch of files from different subdirectories of a common

I don't understand the workflow exactly.
It seems this can be achieved using a few rename F2 or using ark.
The change made this workflow less convenient for sure.
But we can't base behaviors on one user particular workflow.

On the other how many users confusion will be alleviated by the change ?

[kio-extras] [Bug 443806] Dolphin should allow option to cache thumbnails for separate encrypted devices / locations (KDialog too?)

2022-03-08 Thread Alexander Wipperfürth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443806

I don't have to imagine, I have thousands of video files on my drives,
it's not cool that this doesn't work properly, I thought about some
stuff we could do and this would be to fork dolphin and patch it so it
doesn't regenerate the thumbnails and instead use the cached files
instead, this would require searching through the code and identify
where this is and we can build our own version of Dolphin, or someone
from the dev team gets the same issue and gets tired of waiting for the
previews to finish regenerate and patch it.

Currently I don't have the time to look into this very deeply but I will
when I have some spare time and maybe we can somehow find a fix for this.

You can "save" the manual selection by clicking the '+' in the middle of the

Of course use whatever you want but plasma panels do not support it as you say.
What plasma panels and latte panels support is that panels that belong to
primary screen always follow the current primary screen. Panels that are set in
explicit screens are always shown if their screen is active.

I reproduced this issue using KDE Neon 5.24 and two specific Flatpak apps: OBS

recordings in, and youtubedl-gui when trying to pick a directory to save
downloads in.

OBS Studio is especially problematic because this app is published by upstream
directly on Flathub; it's an official package from them.

[kwin] [Bug 451300] New: Plasma Wayland Session: Hardware GSYNC with NVIDIA GPU not working

2022-03-08 Thread Hexagon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451300

Bug ID: 451300
Summary: Plasma Wayland Session: Hardware GSYNC with NVIDIA GPU
not working
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.24.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: apri...@posteo.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Using a Plasma Wayland session, a NVIDIA GPU (RTX 2080) and a GSYNC monitor
(which has a GSYNC hardware module, not FreeSync/VESA-VRR) GSYNC does not work.
In my test with the monitor "ASUS PG279Q" the indication LED on the monitor
should display red to indicate the monitor recognises a GSYNC signal. Instead
it displays a white LED, indicating GSYNC is not active. In Plasma X11 my
monitor LED shows GSYNC as enabled and it is working.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a Plasma Wayland session with an NVIDIA GPU and a GSYNC monitor with a
GSYNC hardware module
2. Observe if the monitor shows via the status LED, FPS counter or other
measure that it is working in GSYNC mode

OBSERVED RESULT
GSYNC does not work

EXPECTED RESULT
GSYNC should work

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I’ve discovered a bug using Plasma / Wayland / Libreoffice, where clicking
simple dialog popups such as the font size or the font color result in failure
to display the dialog. Or more correctly I can sometimes see the color chooser
flash briefly in middle of screen. Therefore cannot choose color.
Under X11 there is no problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log into Plasma Wayland Sesssion
2. Open LibreOffice, type some garbage, select the garbage
3. Go to pick the Font Color

OBSERVED RESULT
Color picker dialog may briefly flash in middle of screen, or simply not
appear.

EXPECTED RESULT
Color Picker dialog appears at top fo screen and stays visible

[Skanlite] [Bug 450204] Refuses to scan the whole of an A4 page

2022-03-08 Thread David Jarvie
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450204

Thanks, Kåre. I didn't notice the clear selections button - showing as the
'delete' icon, it didn't mean anything to me in the context of scanning
software. Also, I didn't think to look in the settings. I think that it would
be a good idea to change the default.

I notice that it is possible to select a rectangular area by dragging the
mouse. I tried scanning a document which showed 3 red rectangles after Preview.
I then manually selected a portion of the document. It only scanned the single
red rectangle which was wholly enclosed by the manual selection, and not any of
the other red rectangles which were intersected by the manual selection. This
seems strange behaviour. Wouldn't it be better for a manual selection to
override automatic selections from the preview?

[kmymoney] [Bug 451269] Report by Category showing wrong total

2022-03-08 Thread Peter Orczykowski
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451269

I only changed dates of the report to catch all transactions. This would not
show on the default report since there are no transactions in 2022 for that
category.

Not sure if this is relevant, but base currency for the software is AUD (which
is where I live and have most accounts), but the issue is related to the
account and category configured in PLN. Report converted all amounts to the
base currency (AUD), which is a default option.

Kind Regards,
Peter

[plasmashell] [Bug 451276] Plasma crashes if put into suspension mode with monitors ON and then being woken up from suspension with the monitors OFF

2022-03-08 Thread Fabio C. Barrionuevo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451276

How to reproduce the issue:

On a computer with at least one monitor connected that can be turned off and
turned on independently of the computer:

1 - put the computer in suspension mode
2 - turn off the monitor's power using the on/off button or by removing it
entirely from its power supply (disconnect the power cable)
3 - turn on the computer
4 - turn on the monitor by using the on/off button or connect the power cable
5 - authenticate on Plasma
6 - try to interact with the menus on the panel

Usually, this error is generated almost immediately in step 6

Note: In my case, I have two external monitors connected on the computer using
two DisplayPort of my Nvidia GTX 1650

Git commit fd858caf0e780f74275c56f4083517ef9e8056b4 by Nate Graham, on behalf
of Olivier Trichet.
Committed on 08/03/2022 at 23:08.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

Fix shortcut not working under non English locale

This change wraps calls to QAction::shortcut() done in QML files
to use the portable representation of QKeySequence.

The QKeySequence to QVariant operator return a string
representation using the native format not the portable format.
E.g., the sequence "Space", will be "Espace" under French locale.
The 'shortcut' attribute of QtQuick Action is stored as QVariant.
In qml file, when the QAction::shortcut() value (a QKeySequence)
is affected to a QtQuick Action shortcut, the previous operator is
used and the shortcut value may be bogus depending on translation.

// A QAction* with the Qt::Key_Space shortcut
property var playPauseAction: ElisaApplication.action("Play-Pause")
Action {
// - playPauseAction.shortcut returns QKeySequence(Qt::Key_Space).
// - QKeySequence(Qt::Key_Space) is transform into a QVariant that
//contains native text "Espace".
// - this QVariant is affected to shortcut: broken.
shortcut: playPauseAction.shortcut
onTriggered: ElisaApplication.audioControl.playPause()
}

[korganizer] [Bug 451295] New: Cannot create a new event

2022-03-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451295

Bug ID: 451295
Summary: Cannot create a new event
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.19.2
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 147382
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=147382=edit
what the "New Event" window looks like just after clicking the "Ok" button

SUMMARY
KOrganizer periodically stops allowing me to add new events to my calendar.
Nothing I have tried seems to allow a new event to go through to my calendar
while this bug is active. I have attached a screenshot of what the "New Event"
window looks like just after clicking the "Ok" button.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Don't restart your computer for a few days.
2. Open the "New Event" window and fill in any info whatsoever for the event
details.
3. Click "Ok" or "Apply".

OBSERVED RESULT
The Ok and Apply buttons become gray and un-clickable and the "Calendar:" drop
down menu becomes highlighted. My calendar remains unchanged, it does not have
the event I just created in it. There are no error messages. There is no way to
continue from this point, the window has to be closed by cancelling edits.

EXPECTED RESULT
That the "New Event" window would close and the event I just filled in the
details for would be created and saved to my personal calendar.

Bug ID: 451294
Summary: Elisa will not index into a symbolic link inside the

  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: matthieu_gall...@yahoo.fr
  Reporter: p...@niburu.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Elisa will not index into a symbolic link inside the music directory.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create music directory /home/blah/music
2. Create symbolic link inside this directory to actual music directory
3. Point Elisa at the music directory (containing the symbolic link)
4. Re-scan library.

OBSERVED RESULT

No albums.

EXPECTED RESULT

Lots of albums.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
 Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In my case the symbolic link points to an autofs mount (music is actually
located on a server), however I doubt this changes things. The autofs mount is
definitely mounted, as I am using it with another player currently.

When browsing for a music folder, it is impossible to select the symbolic link
in the browser, the music folder setup above shows as empty.

ARGH! Yes, of course, you are right. I'll update the bug to say so.

Not only that, but each hierarchical part must be separately back-ticked.

So `digikam.*` will never work, but `digikam`.* should, at least in MySQL.
Likewise, `DigiKam-Core.Albums` won't work, but `DigiKam-Core`.`Albums` should.

The reference I noted in Comment 2 is ambiguous about Sqlite. I can't find a
proper BNF for their language spec.

The variant with tick marks doesn't work.

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON 'digikam.*' TO 'maik'@'127.0.0.1';

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your
MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ''digikam.*' TO
'maik'@'127.0.0.1'' at line 1

In fact, it must be so-called backticks.

Correction - One file - e6b74bd077242dfda7cef1db56996254 is from 9/12/2018 and
the other is 04/2/2021 Not certain when I switched over to Wayland in 2021 -
but definitely the 2018 file is with X11

I have attached a new tar file of the generated directory after removing it and
rebooting. After rebooting only one display is powered on after login. The
files you refer to - e6b74bd077242dfda7cef1db56996254 - is today's with Wayland

However, the problem in this bug report is not related to the QCollator, the
problem here is the QCompleter, which takes over the keys events when
activated.

Just want to add.
I found a round rotation button at the bottom that helps with the issue.
Still it's not intuitive for tablet usage where you are frequently using finger
gestures (two finger rotation).

Do you want to detect it in the write test or in the plug-in?

The ICU data file can be included as resource in library if i remember.

But...

Master compile libicu for AppImage and Qt6 :

https://invent.kde.org/graphics/digikam/-/blob/master/project/bundles/appimage/01-build-host.sh#L270

...with data as resource:

https://invent.kde.org/graphics/digikam/-/blob/master/project/bundles/3rdparty/ext_libicu/CMakeLists.txt#L20

...and qt5-maintenance use system libicu, and data file is separated i think...

The QCollator loads a large file, this was also the reason for the large speed
increase after putting the QCollator in a static class. I suspect that this is
not included in the AppImage, I'll look for the name of this file right away.
