No. Checked using `env` command if the environment variable is active, still
the Fullscreen and Borderless modes stuck at 60 while Windowed mode gives
uncapped FPS with the env var set.

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 451421] New: Elisa "fast native indexer" fails to locate music files

2022-03-11 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451421

Bug ID: 451421
Summary: Elisa "fast native indexer" fails to locate music
files
   Product: frameworks-baloo
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: baloo-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: pgpatti...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Running Elisa 21.12.2 on updated, current stable Majaro release. When music
indexing is set to "Use fast native indexer" in configuration dialogue, no
music files are found. When set to "Scan the filesystem directly," music
library populates as expected. Elisa configuration dialogue prompts to "Please
report this as a bug," so that's what I'm doing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Described in summary.

OBSERVED RESULT
Elisa's music library is empty when indexing is set to "fast native indexer."

EXPECTED RESULT
Files should show up in Elisa's library when "fast native indexer" is selected.

Git commit 796a451ac8811401b6f37e3286707da636933dda by Oliver Kellogg.
Committed on 12/03/2022 at 06:32.
Pushed by okellogg into branch 'master'.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449622#c5 fix for displaced pins, ports,
and their associated floating texts

umbrello/umlwidgets/umlwidget.cpp followup to commit d8fe02e
- In function loadFromXMI :
  - Initialize fixedX to just nX.
  - Initialize fixedY to just nY.
  - Local bool usesRelativeCoords indicates whther this widget's
coordinates are relative to its parentItem().
  - Apply umlScene()->fixX() to fixedX and apply umlScene()->fixY() to
fixedY only if usesRelativeCoords is false.
  - Call umlScene()->updateCanvasSizeEstimate() only if
usesRelativeCoords is false.

umbrello/umlwidgets/pinportbase.cpp
- In function loadFromXMI, on loading optional child floatingtext move
call to m_pName->setParentItem(this) to before m_pName->loadFromXMI().
Reason: UMLWidget::loadFromXMI needs to evaluate whether the widget
coordinates are relative to a parent UMLWidget (see above).

When I tried to apply the patch, I didn't see any output in the journal that
looked related to kwin and "journalctl --boot 0 | grep kwin_wayland_drm"
returned nothing.

I built the patched kwin first by adding the patch command to the pkgbuild and
using pacman -U and when that showed nothing in the logs I tried building using
the instructions in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448220#c39 but I still
got nothing in the logs.

I did set the QT_LOGGING_RULES variable in /etc/environment so I'm not sure
what I'm doing wrong.

[kwin] [Bug 448220] One or both dual monitors powers off after login to Wayland KDE

2022-03-11 Thread Zamundaaa
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448220

Tbh I don't know a thing about how to build patched packages for rpm based
distros either.
For building and installing directly though,
git clone https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin.git --branch Plasma/5.24
cd kwin
git apply "path of the patch file"
mkdir build && cd build
cmake ..
make
sudo make install

would do the job. You can then "sudo make uninstall" in that folder to remove
the installed files again, and then re-install your KWin system package to
revert to standard KWin again.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 451414] New: KDE Connect crashes when connected to another PC using GNOME and GSConnect

2022-03-11 Thread Phil Dudley
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451414

Bug ID: 451414
Summary: KDE Connect crashes when connected to another PC using
GNOME and GSConnect
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: predatori...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kdeconnectd (21.12.2)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Operating System: Linux 5.16.12-200.fc35.x86_64 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: Fedora Linux 35 (KDE Plasma)
DrKonqi: 5.24.2 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I just paired KDE Connect on Fedora 35 KDE with Pop!_OS using GNOME and
GSConnect. Upon pairing, I was able to Ping, but then the Fedora side would
crash and the apps wouldn't reconnect unless I unpair the two and restart both
devices.

- Custom settings of the application:

I used the kdeconnect-chrome-extension application to make Firefox Extension
for KDE work on Fedora.

https://github.com/pdf/kdeconnect-chrome-extension

This worked for a bit, then attepted to send a URL to my Phone and PC, but then
KDE Conenct crashed.

[krita] [Bug 444939] samsung spen hard-coded buttons

Ren changed:

I suggest an alternative: Adding a configuration hotkey area for the mouse.
That way, hotkeys can be bound for the mouse in the same way as the keyboard.
Since the pen is registered as a mouse on the tablet, I think this would be a
fine workaround, no?

This may be too much to ask too, but programs like Clip Studio Paint have it
set so holding down the S-Pen button registers as using the eraser for only the
duration of it being held. A toggle would be great, but this may be even better
if it's doable.

Forgive me if this is a bad place to say it, but I, too, would very much enjoy
a feature like this. I just got a Galaxy Tab S7 FE and while it came with a
copy of Clip Studio Paint, they only run off of a subscription-basis for tablet
and I would much prefer something like Krita instead. The inability to bind the
S-Pen button to a key is a pain. I just spent considerable time researching
this issue on Reddit and Krita's forums (and the Krita makers page) to no
avail. Wanted to give my 2 cents as someone that works in software support. :)

[kdenlive] [Bug 451413] New: Unable to render to a path located on a network share

2022-03-11 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451413

Bug ID: 451413
Summary: Unable to render to a path located on a network share
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: adgit...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When attempting to render to a network share, the base path is replaced with
the local root (C drive).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click Render
2. Type in a full path of the file to create located on a network share.
(example \\foo\bar\example.mp4)
3. Click Render to File

OBSERVED RESULT
The video along with the entire folder hierarchy is created on the local root
(C drive).
Note: When the folder is chosen using the "select output destination" button,
the resulting path that gets filled in the textbox has the base removed.
(example "\\foo\bar\example.mp4" becomes "/bar/example.mp4").

Code should check for EWOULDBLOCK which is in the flock manual page list of
returns:
On many systems there are similar defines to this one:
/usr/include/asm-generic/errno.h:#defineEWOULDBLOCK EAGAIN /*
Operation would block */
The question of course becomes who has the file locked such that LOCK_NB is
causing the EWOULDBLOCK ?

Ok I am a bit stumped here. I am guessing this patch needs to be applied to
the source file? I have binary packages installed - not from source. (In

Okay - I am a bit stumped here. I presume this patch has to be applied to a
source file? I have only binary packages installed - not from source. So
where can I get kwin-5.24.3-1.fc35.src.rpm ? If I run the patch alone with:

sudo patch --dry-run < '5.24 verbose logging.patch'

I get:

SUMMARY
kde launcher plays peek a boo

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Just keep using the system. Every now and then it plays peek a boo just to
make me laugh. if there's anything i can capture for you when it happens let
me know.

OBSERVED RESULT
5 days out of 6 it works fine. But sometimes it gets silly and wants to play
with me. When i poke the window key or the launcher button the launcher rolls
up and immediately rolls down again, no matter how many times i poke it.

EXPECTED RESULT
Roll up and let me click something.

SUMMARY
Previews of files on local drives (other than OS drive) are managed by remote
file preview settings.
After recent updates, local drives (connected via SATA) use remote settings for
local files which forces me to set very high limit on remote settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Mount local drives via fstab on startup
2. Open dolphin on any drive other than OS drive
3. No previews are available (I have no previews for remote files by default)

OBSERVED RESULT
No previews for files on local drives, because of the use of remote preview

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451372

@TYY331 I am not. Classic docks.

One thing to note is, sometimes this happens when I'm playing a game that
*might* be forcibly grabbing inputs. In one case I managed to alt-tab out of
the game to "fix" the behaviour, but other times it might just stop working, or
it might not "recover" after closing the game.

So I'm not sure if it's the game messing the input grabbing, or if the input
grabbing itself isn't "forcing" enough.

This has been fixed since Okular 21.12.0 assuming you run a moderately modern
poppler, if you don't (e.g Neon users, you should either convince the Neon

Bug ID: 451407
Summary: [Visual consistency] System tray should follow icon
theme rather than plasma style
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.24.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Tray
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: filippo27...@gmail.com
CC: mate...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

When using an icon theme different from the one in the plasma style, most icons
in the system tray don't change, but every other icon in Plasma, including in
the taskbar, launcher and on Plasmoids, does. The workaround would be to
manually change icons in the Plasma theme but it is pretty cumbersome. I'm
requesting in this report to make it so that the system tray can follow the
icon theme specified by the user, even if it is changed.

AFAIK that just means that FreeSync is not supported.
Weirdly enough, according to the logs, the monitor gets detected and nothing
else happens. Are you sure the monitor disabled itself in time?

I uploaded a patch for very verbose logging for this sort of stuff at
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448220#c37, could you try the same patch
for this? It should at least tell us very clearly what KWin and KScreen are
doing
So, apply the patch, put QT_LOGGING_RULES="kwin_*.debug=true" into
/etc/environment, reboot, let a few cycles happen and then upload the output of
"journalctl --boot 0 | grep kwin_wayland_drm" here. Afterwards you'll want to
revert to original KWin, to not fill your storage up with all the logging

Sigh, Dolphin hid the ".local" folder in the archive...
Looking at the configs, they're exactly the same :/

Assuming that KScreen or the configs aren't doing nothing wrong or differently
then, *something* must be going wrong in KWin. I attached a patch for 5.24 that
adds logging in a lot of places that could hint to what's happening; could you
apply it, restart, reproduce the bug and upload the output of "journalctl

Afterwards you should install unpatched KWin again, it logs enough to fill
gigabytes in an hour

sddm-theme: focus password field after changing session or kbd layout

We already force focus to the password field after showing or hiding the
virtual keyboard, since otherwise it's annoying and you have to manually
re-focus it. Let's do the same for the session and keyboard layout
choosers to save the user a click and some annoyance.

The fact that the system uses offline updates which require a restart is not a
bug, but rather an optional feature that many distros are using by default
because it improves system stability. You can go back to the older riskier
interactive updates if you'd like, by changing the setting in System Settings.

Not asking for a reboot when apps get updated is tracked by Bug 435574.

[kwin] [Bug 450914] Wayland, games on Nvidia are force vsynced

2022-03-11 Thread Zamundaaa
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450914

There is some weird interaction of Xwayland with windowed contents that can
cause something similar:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1309
The timer in Xwayland is about 58-59fps, not 60 though, so it's most likely not
the same issue. It also happens in other compositors, so there's that...

> Is there possibly a difference between NVIDIA and Mesa that could cause Kwin
> to delay releasing these buffers?

How many buffers does the NVidia driver allocate for a swapchain? While I
really doubt that a lack of free buffers would manage to get exact smooth
60fps, Mesa needed to bump the number of buffers in Wayland and Xwayland up to
4 in order to remove some bottlenecks with direct scanout.

@Samuel you can quickly check if direct scanout makes a difference by putting
KWIN_DRM_NO_DIRECT_SCANOUT=1 into /etc/environment and rebooting

One other thing that interacts with buffer releases is that KWin does dynamic
frame scheduling, which neither Sway nor AFAIK a currently released version of
Mutter do; Mutter always renders at vblank and IIRC Sway does so too by
default. KWin with default settings starts compositing somewhere in the middle
of the frame (depends on GPU load and user settings)

> There is one known bug in our DRM driver where we don't report the correct
> timestamp for page flips (it will just be 0), not sure if that could be
> relevant
KWin fakes the timestamp to be at the time of receiving the callback if it's
not correct, it probably doesn't make a significant difference.

SUMMARY
using kde connect from desktop remote input feature to control the android
phone.

in this case, i used the "lock" to lock the mouse/trackpad to the phone and it
works but at the same time, typing anything on the keyboard does nothing.
when i "lock" the mouse, it should also allow me to type whatever i do on the
desktop keyboard on the phone screen.

note: i have "kde connect remote keyboard" as "on" in the "onscreenkeyboard"
in language and input.

yes. i am aware of the fact that by manually selecting "kde connect remote
keyboard" this feature works but this should be a seamless feature just like
what remote mouse is. i can use the phone while connected to the mouse but to
use the keyboard i have to change the keyboard.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. connect desktop and mobile via kde connect
2. on dekstop open "remote input"
3. click on "lock" to lock the mouse. check it works.
4. on the phone open the browser or any input box.
5. try to type on the desktop

OBSERVED RESULT

typing on keyboad does nothing even when i have kde connect remote keyboard as
on.

outputchangeset: set default values for vrr policy and rgb range

If this is not done then KScreen will sometimes unintentionally reset them
to the default.

[kmag] [Bug 108068] kmag unusable for disabled people because KMag window covers a part of the screen that cannot be magnified

> KMag needs to be in an area where no window can be beneath it,

Exactly this idea has already been implemented in the KDE3-based KMag (see
https://invent.kde.org/accessibility/kmag/-/commit/1884b51a07f4a7a4d28bb325e4664e0bdc8802b6).
That old version is quite easy to get running these days to test how it works
(it needs more CPU than a Qt5-based KMag, though), let me know if you need some
pointers to get started.

The Qt4 port was branched off earlier than that commit and unfortunately was
never forward-ported, which is why the Qt5-based KMag does not include it.
Still, the code it out there and "only" needs porting.

(Incidentally, the recursion issue mentioned above has also been fixed two
times: Once in the Qt3 branch, and also in the Qt4 branch in a seemingly
independent effort.)

Report landed in Akonadi due to being reported using DrKonqui, but it is a
general crash affecting all Xwayland applications and sometimes more. Could you
please reassign it under Kwin?

And any tips on how else I can debug it would be appreciated.
