I fail to see how that improves usability for KWrite.

And it will break again the consistency we now reached between KWrite and Kate

I'm a Wacom Cintiq 16 user, not a Pro.

I had the same experience before.
However, it was solved by resetting with TabletMapping.
I don't know what the changes were, but I no longer experience such symptoms.

Until now, haven't your symptoms improved?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug in single mouse
2. Start Wayland Session
3. Check device combobox under System Settings-->Input Devices-->Mouse

OBSERVED RESULT
Shows three options, one of which is my mouse. If options other than the mouse
are selected, the sliders/options have no effect. By default, an unknown USB
device was selected.

EXPECTED RESULT
Combo box should only contain one option unless more than one mouse is plugged
in.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.17.1.arch1-1
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have seen something similar on XFCE in their libinput options screen in the
past so I don't know if its actually a KDE-specific issue. I initially made a
bug report assuming the sliders simply weren't working
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451296) only to be told (thanks Nate!)
that there's a combobox in Wayland when there wasn't in X11. My combo box
contains three options: "SONiX USB Device" (this was the default), "Wing Tech
Xtrfy M42" (the one that works), and "Wing Tech Xtrfy M42 Keyboard". The
mouses' actual name is the Xtrfy M42.

I don't think it's the same as Bug 370676 (or at least my bug report closed as
a duplicate of Bug 370676). The issue I encountered was, when the lock screen
was hidden, pressing Tab caused it to enter an infinite CPU loop and stop
responding to all input (even moving mouse and keystrokes). Since in this bug,
you can still move the mouse, the cursor changes based on mouse position, and
you can type the password, this sounds like a rendering error (possibly a
variation of Bug 450301).

It might (emphasis on might) work for KWrite, but I still very much doubt we

[kmymoney] [Bug 452024] Date Format when using CSV Importer --> Make QIF File

2022-03-31 Thread mrbee
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452024

That was quick, thanks heaps for that Thomas.

Just tried out a clean nightly 1471-windows install and I can see the drop down
QIF export profile option in the CSV Importer. Unfortunately it's empty and I
cannot select a profile. Tried to create a new one but still cannot see or
choose anything.

The exported QIF file is now DD.MM. and it always seems to be this way no
matter what date format I put into the default profile. Therefore I assume that
the default profile currently has no effect.

Thanks for looking into this.

2022-03-31 Thread Martin Jaime Flores Jr.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452135

Bug ID: 452135
Summary: When playing podcast with higher or lower playback
rate, adjust time left appropriately.
   Product: kasts
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: b...@mogwai.be
  Reporter: martin.flore...@tutanota.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The time left should show an accurate value, regardless of the current playback
speed, rather than skipping values.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Play a podcast in the queue.
2. Modify the playback speed to any value besides x1.

OBSERVED RESULT
Reported time left skips values, e.g., 0:20:00 to 0:19:58 in one second at 2x
speed.

EXPECTED RESULT
Time left should be scaled accordingly, e.g., 20 minutes at 1x, 10 minutes at
2x.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
An example of this feature can be seen in the MPV program when speeding up and
slowing down playback.

[Qt/KDE Flatpak Runtime] [Bug 452132] New: Qt/KDE applications not accessible with the Orca screen reader.

2022-03-31 Thread Luke Yelavich
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452132

Bug ID: 452132
Summary: Qt/KDE applications not accessible with the Orca
screen reader.
   Product: Qt/KDE Flatpak Runtime
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: them...@themuso.com
CC: aa...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I am unable to navigate Qt and KDE apps running as a flatpak using the Orca
screen reader in a GNOME desktop session. I have not tested this when running
under a KDE desktop session. However if I run the flatpak from a terminal with
the command-line arguments --no-a11y-bus --talk-name=org.a11y.Bus, then the app
is accessible with Orca.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log into a GNOME session (I am using GNOME 41 on Fedora 35).
2. Enable Orca. This can be done with the Alt + Super + S shortcut key. (Make
sure you have working audio to hear spoken text)
3. Install a Qt/KDE app from flathub, as above, org.kde.dolphin is a good test
candidate here.
4. Either load dolphin from the activities overview, or run "flatpak run --user
org.kde.dolphin" in a terminal.

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin loads, but when navigating the app with the keyboard, you do not hear
any spoken text from Orca.

EXPECTED RESULT
Orca should read the files and folders that you navigate to with the keyboard.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Linux 5.16.18-200.fc35.x86_64, GNOME 41, latest version of
org.kde.Platform 5.15-21.08 from flathub.
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.15-21.08
Qt Version: 5.15

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
A workaround is to run "flatpak run --user --no-a11y-bus
--talk-name=org.a11y.Bus org.kde.dolphin" in a terminal. Doing this, Orca
should read the files and folders that you navigate to with the keyboard.

I suspect the problematic commit is 7800017d67f93f7e93f7294b91a1048cf933a39f
from https://invent.kde.org/qt/qt/qtbase.git.

It should also be noted that running a GTK 4 app like org.gnome.TextEditor
works fine without any tweaking. So far as I know, GTK 4 does use the
AT_SPI_BUS_ADDRESS environment variable, and all works well.

If started with strace it seems that the subdirectory `kcms` is not in the
search path, so `kcm_pulseaudio` itself isn't found, but the audio test UI is
displayed. With a symbolic link to `/usr/lib/qt5/plugins` kcmshell5 loads the
plugin without error message in the terminal. Unfortunately still no test
sound. Strange. Distro specific issue?

[krita] [Bug 452131] New: kinetic scrolling/touch pan not working on cintiq

2022-03-31 Thread bugzilla_noreply

OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
i updated to 5.1.0-prealpha (git 959bf28) from 5.1.0-prealpha (git 2599950)
today and now kinetic scrolling doesn't work anymore to move or rotate the
canvas. it used to work on 2599950.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
i'm using:
  cintiq 13 pro

  Build ABI: x86_64-little_endian-llp64
  Build CPU: x86_64
  CPU: x86_64
  Kernel Type: winnt
  Kernel Version: 10.0.19043
  Pretty Productname: Windows 10 (10.0)
  Product Type: windows
  Product Version: 10

WHAT I ALREADY TRIED
- enabling/disabling windows ink
- disabling/enabling kinetic scrolling
(kinetic scrolling is set to "on touch drag")
- replacing this with a gesture: canvas input settings->pan canvas->gesture/one
finger drag/pan mode
while this works to an extent, it takes a while for krita to register the
one finger drag as a gesture to start pan mode,
so there is a noticable delay + this doesn't help with rotating the
canvas

[Discover] [Bug 452129] New: Expanding updates to show details is buggy

2022-03-31 Thread ob
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452129

Bug ID: 452129
Summary: Expanding updates to show details is buggy
   Product: Discover
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: discover
  Assignee: lei...@leinir.dk
  Reporter: oli-be...@outlook.com
CC: aleix...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The updates view in Discover is buggy when displaying a large number of updates
(>40 or so). When expanding some updates, updates further down partially expand
to show where the update is from (though such an expansion is not possible by
user input). When scrolling back up after manually expanded updates have been
out of view, they are sometimes no longer expanded.

Clicking updates to expand or hide their details shows both release notes,
state, vendor and repository at the bottom, however, updates partially expanded
by this bug only show the repository.

This appears to occur on both X11 and the Wayland session. I am using Arch
Linux (packagekit-qt5).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a large number of updates available (>40 or so).
2. Open the updates view.
3. Expand several updates at the top, scroll down and scroll up.

OBSERVED RESULT
Certain updates's details are partially expanded with no discernible pattern,
and expanded updates unexpand themselves.

EXPECTED RESULT
Updates only expand/unexpand when clicked to reveal/hide details.

2022-03-31 Thread WS
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452120

>the UI would have to diverge between themes that supported being recolored and
>themes which don't. ...

I don't really think that's a problem per se? I mean, first that is already the
case, isn't it? Themes that follow the Color Scheme behave exactly like I say,
and they have a Icon to indicate they follow the Color Scheme. In this case it
would be the opposite, Styles that have a Color file would show a icon to
indicate they were bundled with one.

Second: Styles could still bundle color files with themselves, as it has a
utility for third party styles, but the user could force it to be ignored. If I
force Breeze Light (Style) to use the Breeze Dark (Scheme) it would accomplish
the same as if I used Breeze(Style) with Breeze Dark(Scheme) rather than the
light variant.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion.

Indeed, when I installed via flatpak, it works out of the box, the Firefox
certificate store is recognized and listed under PDF Backend config.
(Minor detail, in flatpak I have 21.12.3, whereas in snap I had 21.12.1).

The difference I see is in the default certificate folder:
- for flatpak: /home/user/.mozilla/firefox/abcd.default
- for snap: /home/user/snap/okular/112/.pki/nssdb (which does not exist)

In any case, I tried setting in the snap version the "custom folder" to
/home/user/.mozilla/firefox/abcd.default and it still does not recognize any
certificate.

Screenshot of "transparent" thunderbird

Today, I managed a screenshot of Thunderbird. It features a "transparent" area
showing the background. And the menubar is moved off it's top position to the
middle of the window.

It happens on resizing the Thunderbird from windowed to maximized and back. The
tranparancy is "true" - moving Thunderbird to a different location, will paint
any underlying windows inside Thunderbird. On mouse over of Thunderbird
elements, they get redrawn to their supposed location one by one.

Workarounds:
- Either minimize and restore the window
- or drag the border to resize the window
- switch Desktop
- disable/enable effects by Shift+Alt+F12
Any will immediately fix all drawing issues unless the window is maximized and
restored again.

The Plasma effect of quickly stretching the window content without explicit
redrawing the contents is NOT in use.
The Plasma effect of transparent see-through on moving the window is in use.
But turning it off, has no impact on this bug.
If Plasma-effects are globally off, the former transparent area will be solid
black.

[i18n] [Bug 452128] New: Elements displayed in the wrong language after changing language during install

2022-03-31 Thread Tim F
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452128

Bug ID: 452128
Summary: Elements displayed in the wrong language after
changing language during install
   Product: i18n
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: de
  Assignee: kde-i18n...@kde.org
  Reporter: fischer.ti...@googlemail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 147869
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=147869=edit
Both instances of the wrong language (install on the left, lock screen on the
right)

Some elements are being displayed in the wrong language for me during and after
the Manjaro KDE Plasma setup (see screenshot). They are displayed in German
despite the chosen OS language being English. One of the elements displayed
wrongly is the the date and time in the lock screen. The other is part of the
installation process (is that a KDE thing or a separate issue?).

There are two explanations I can think of with a reasonable probability:
- During install, the installer (rightly in my case) defaulted to German. I
switched it to English. Perhaps some things were accidentally kept out of the
language change?
- I only switched my OS language. I kept keyboard layout, timezone etc as
German(y). Perhaps, those things are shown in German based on those settings?

Strangely, for the image on the left, the first explanation would seem more
likely, but for the one on the right, I'd favor the second explanation. I tried
changing time zones to see what happens and the option that was displayed for
Germany was written with an English example, and it also said "English
(Germany)". However, changing the format to that (hitting "apply", of course)
and restarting does not fix the issue. The language for the date is still
German.

In my case, the issue is minor, but if it also appears for locations where
different alphabets are used, that might be a problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have the setup default to German (I'm guessing you can make that happen
using a VM?)
2. Change OS language to English, but keep date formats etc German (keyboard
layout can probably be changed so you can use the OS?)
3. (change time zone to "English (Germany)" and re-log / reboot to give the
change the chance to take effect)

OBSERVED RESULT
One line during setup and the lockscreen date will be displayed in German
despite the OS language being English.

EXPECTED RESULT
If the system language is changed, every part of the OS should default to that
language - particularly during the installation process. Had I tried to install
my OS in Korea, I would have had no idea what that line said. The date is just
an inconvenience, but given how often that screen is seen, it's a very
prominent one.

Git commit a37b285a2d20faf383a55f46e9ec540f8cffd370 by Ralf Habacker.
Committed on 31/03/2022 at 21:57.
Pushed by habacker into branch '8.1'.

Added support for using QtNetwork to download online quotes

To enable the mentioned support, a new cmake variable
BUILD_WITH_QTNETWORK has been added.

When the mentioned cmake variable is set to 1 or ON, which is
default on Windows, AlkOnlineQuotes::launchNative() uses Qt
network support for downloading data. If it is set to 0 or
OFF, the KIO library support is used, which is the default on
non Windows platforms.

The advantage of using Qt network support is less dependency
on 3rd party components, thus less error-proneness and
higher speed on Windows.

Please don't intentionally file duplicate bug reports. It causes everything to
get confused. I did triage Bug 451815 today, and if I hadn't noticed this, we'd
have two bugzilla tickets reporting the same thing.

Good point. I was in Tools, Selection mode... It works for me now that I switch
to browse mode as suggested.

Is there a way to warn the user via a popup to change mode, if he is
single-clicking on a video / form with a non-proper tool? (Just for the sake of
novice-user-friendliness.)

[plasmashell] [Bug 451976] Plasma Crashes On Wayland Session (using NVIDIA drivers) After Upgrading Kubuntu 21.10 -> 22.04

2022-03-31 Thread Kyrylo Bohdanenko
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451976

Unfortunately I am unable to find packages with debug symbols for the requested
binaries (does Ubuntu still provide these?). Therefore I am unable to produce a
better backtrace.

E.g. When I search for plasma-workspace (package providing
/usr/bin/plasmashell), I get plasma-workspace-data [installed],
plasma-workspace-dev (headers, no debug symbols), plasma-workspace-wallpapers
and plasma-workspace-wayland [installed]. No *-dbg or *-dbgsym package.

I provided the core dump and package versions in case someone has access to
debug symbol packages.

It's probably a good idea in general, but we have to remember out theming
ecosystem. Right now Plasma themes can have embedded color schemes. We could
make this change for Breeze, but 3rd-party Plasma themes could and would still
have hardcoded colors. So we can't stop that support entirely, which means that
the UI would have to diverge between themes that supported being recolored and
themes which don't. ...Which we could do, but it's something that would have to
be kept in mind.

If I could go back and wave a magic wand, I'd redo theming to be like how
you're proposing, but sadly no such magic wand exists. :)

another page, which is not output as changed when using KIO download support.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. download portable alkimia package from https://binary-factory.kde.org or
https://kmymoney.org/snapshots.php
2. unpack archive and start onlinequoteseditor
3. select 'alkimia..' profile
4. press 'install' in the online quotes window, install 'FinancialTimesFund'
online quote and close the add-on installer dialog
5.select online quote 'FinancialTimesFund' and press 'check source'

OBSERVED RESULT
In the debug windows there is printed 'URL found:
https://markets.ft.com/data/funds/tearsheet/charts?s=ORCL'

EXPECTED RESULT
The resulting URL should be
https://markets.ft.com/data/equities/tearsheet/charts?s=ORCL:NYQ, which can be
verified by entering the original URL in a browser.

An output of the changed URL helps to keep online source definitions up to
date, speeding up frequent retrievals.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10
Linux: openSUSE Leap 15
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.x
Qt Version: 5.x

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Corresponding support is possible when using QtNetwork download support.

backtrace frombacktrace-kscreen_backend.txt

Sorry for the late follow up, real life happened and I just now finally set up
my system for debugging. I managed to get a crashdump from
/usr/lib64/libexec/kf5/kscreen_backend_launcher which seems to be the binary
causing the crash in the first place. Took me a while to figure that out, not
used to stuff like this.

I attached the full backtrace as text to the issue now, maybe you guys can take
another look and make something of it?

PS: I updated the gentoo bug at https://bugs.gentoo.org/832047 as well, not
sure where the root cause is to be found.

[plasmashell] [Bug 452005] Incorrect display of chrome apps icons with 3rd-party icon theme

2022-03-31 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452005

As I understand it, in large icon themes, the chrome or vivaldi icon is
registered for everything related to chrome or vivaldi (including web
applications). And even if I manually add the icon of the site I need to the
theme, it still won’t be picked up. This is exactly what needs to be corrected.

[konsole] [Bug 452126] New: Lack "Shell integration" which enables advanced features.

2022-03-31 Thread shenlebantongying
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452126

Bug ID: 452126
Summary: Lack "Shell integration" which enables advanced
features.
   Product: konsole
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: shenlebantongy...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

konsole lacks a new type of terminal functionality called "Shell integration".

OBSERVED RESULT

The shell inside the terminal emulator is just a stream of chars, the emulator
cannot know what is happening semantically. "Shell integration" is to gain
extra insight into the strings within the terminal.

It can enable a lot of previously unimplementable features, and there are a
lot. Please see the links below for more details.

EXPECTED RESULT:

Some kind of framework or API or examples to implement them strategically.

These 3 features probably are the easiest and pretty useful. They can be
shipped as a "starter" if the shell integration is ever going to happen.

+ Command history in sidebar
+ Recent Directories in sidebar (when click => do a `cd` )
+ Jump between promotes (jumping through the scrollback to the start of an
earlier command)
+ Select all output of the last command

[kdevelop] [Bug 452125] New: Specifying LLVM_DIR causes Clang not to be found.

2022-03-31 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452125

Bug ID: 452125
Summary: Specifying LLVM_DIR causes Clang not to be found.
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Build tools: CMake
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bunge...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I am on a system where clang-12 is the default but wish to build KDevelop
against clang-13. I can install clang-13 and its dev packages, and set
`cmake-options -DLLVM_DIR=/usr/lib/llvm-13` in my `~/.kdesrc-buildrc`. This
allows llvm-13 to be found, but the cmake build steps fail to find the clang-13
libraries. The issue appears to be that in `cmake/modules/FindClang.cmake` if
`LLVM_DIR` is set `find_package(LLVM ${version})` is not executed at all, which
means that none of its side effects are made available (like setting
(LLVM_FOUND, LLVM_LIBRARY_DIRS, etc). Simply removing `LLVM_DIR OR ` from this
file allows the correct clang-13 libraries to be found and the build succeeds.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set `cmake-options -DLLVM_DIR=/usr/lib/llvm-13` in `~/.kdesrc-buildrc`, or
otherwise get LLVM_DIR to CMake.
2. Run CMake.

OBSERVED RESULT
CMake finds LLVM fine, but then fails to find Clang libraries.

EXPECTED RESULT
CMake should find the Clang libraries.

[digikam] [Bug 452088] Mixed up creation time and time of import

2022-03-31 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452088

I'm not aware of anything running Image Magick.
But I tried to read the metadata of the pictures directly on the SD card using
exiv2. And here's the problem: Corrupted metadata in 15 files, but the pictures
themselves seem fine. Maybe the card is just faulty, but I don't see how that
could only affect metadata.
Strange how many tools can still read (or guess?) something anyway... I would
have expected a warning.

Thanks anyway, I guess this can be closed now. Or turned into a feature request
(show warning if metadata corrupt) ;)

That journal log is interesting, because
>plasmashell[17830]: QWaylandDataOffer: timeout reading from pipe
>plasmashell[17830]: QWaylandDataOffer: error reading data for mimeType
>application/x-kde-cutselection
is exactly the same as what I saw in my likely related issue (Bug 451631) that
Matt linked. It sure seems suspicious and sounds like it's related to the
clipboard somehow (???)
If you search for QWaylandDataOffer on Bugzilla you find several other bugs
that are in some way related to plasmashell hanging or crashing as well. No
idea what this error means specifically but it's worth investigating IMO.

It looks exactly the same, save for a different number of minutes to trigger
"Dim screen", as does the "On Low Battery" section.
