[frameworks-kio] [Bug 452139] File maximum Icon size too small in Icon View in kfilewidget

2022-04-01 Thread Evert Vorster
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452139

Hi there, and thanks for the quick reply.
The whole reason I got a high resolution monitor is to actually use that
resolution. Photo editing and video editing works better at native resolution.
The scaling feature negates the whole high resolution bit, and causes a whole
host of other issues, so scaling is a non-starter.
In my defense, I did try to use it, but found the trade-offs unacceptable.

Just a higher maximum size would already go a long way to cure this issue.

[plasmashell] [Bug 452164] New: 100% CPU usage and soft lock requiring restart of plasmashell after entering five characters into Kicker

2022-04-01 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452164

Bug ID: 452164
Summary: 100% CPU usage and soft lock requiring restart of
plasmashell after entering five characters into Kicker
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.24.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Menu (Kicker)
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: zepy...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

Found this while trying to launch Spectacle. Opening Kicker and typing "spec"
launches fine. "Spect" hardlocks plasmashell.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kicker
2. Type five characters in.
3. Immediately hardlocks plasmashell and takes it up to 100% CPU

OBSERVED RESULT
Hardlock, needs to be killed and restarted with 100% CPU usage on a core noted
on top.

EXPECTED RESULT
Typing another character should be fine.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 452161] New: KDE Connect keyboard input not available

2022-04-01 Thread Brandon Bachman
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452161

Bug ID: 452161
Summary: KDE Connect keyboard input not available
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: bluuf...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Fedora KDE or Manjaro KDE
2. Install KDE connect client on Android device
3. Pair and _attempt_ to use the ketboard input features of KDE Connect

OBSERVED RESULT
I am unable to put in any kind of keyboard input uusing KDE Connect on latest
available KDE. This wasn'r a problem last year, and isn't a problem on desktops
which _aren't_ KDE.

EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to use the keyboard input features of KDE Connect for compose send
and raw input.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I don't understand why this is a problem with most recent KDE. On older KDE
desktop installs this isn't a problem, but this is happening on both Fedora and
Manjaro, so it's not an OS-specific problem from what i am seeing.

Apologies for lax information, I am an absolute novice when it comes to filing
bug reports here. What I will see is if it has something to do with using BTRFS
as a system installation method by using Ext4 as system root. I would have zero
clue how partition format has something to do with this but this has been
happening specifically with using BTRFS as root as of recent.

No, this is not being posted on April 1st as a prank.

Git commit d28aaccfdcc364447583803968f3d4bd9692708c by Agata Cacko.
Committed on 02/04/2022 at 00:50.
Pushed by tymond into branch 'master'.

Fix too small hitboxes for curve widget

Before this commit, it was difficult to click on a control
point of the curve widget, especially with a stylus, because
the hitboxes were quite small.
Some time ago the control boxes were made visually bigger, but
without taking care of hitboxes, so the situation just before this
commit was that the user could click on the ellipse marking
the control point but still create a new point instead of
moving the one the user intended to click on.

This commit ensures that the painting code and the logic code
both use the same value, and that the hitbox for the point is
circular.

It's more or less an issue with how the atomic modesetting API currently works,

around this if it's important to you.

A screen crop of what the icons of mounted removable drives would be able to do
on the desktop

SUMMARY
This is something Ubuntu allowed you to do and, if I'm not mistaken, so did KDE
3. It would be cool to have a feature which displays mounted removable drives
on the desktop as icons, so you can drag files to it and subdirectories like
you can do with shortcuts nowdays, perhaps even as an enabled by default
feature.

[krita] [Bug 451859] Glitchy transparent areas appear on canvas while painting

2022-04-01 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451859

--- Comment #10 from acc4commissi...@gmail.com ---
I'm not sure yet, but it seems only happen when the cursor accidently goes out
of the krita window(left and bottom) while making brushstrokes. If the cursor
stays strictly inside the krita window while making brushstrokes, the glitch
doesn't appear.

Git commit 4ef7939e7efdf47ace28810f1f2d13fd4068abe9 by Fushan Wen.
Committed on 02/04/2022 at 00:13.

libdiscover: Fix Discover doesn't show license or description of local package

When setting details of a package, also emit `licensesChanged` and
`longDescriptionChanged`,
so when opening a local package using PackageKit backend, the
application page can show licenses and description when the details are
fetched.

[kate] [Bug 452158] New: block comment should start with '# '

2022-04-01 Thread Andreas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452158

Bug ID: 452158
Summary: block comment should start with '# '
   Product: kate
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: indentation
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: opendr...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 147886
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=147886=edit
Block comment should start with '# ' (E265)

SUMMARY
When commenting code in Python with ctrl + d, there is no space between the #
and the code.
LSP shows the following error:
Block comment should start with '# ' (E265)
Python Recommendations
https://peps.python.org/pep-0008/#block-comments

Also, if the code is indented, then # is not placed at the beginning of the
line and LSP also show an error.
Unexpected indentation (comment) (E116)
Python Recommendations
https://peps.python.org/pep-0008/#indentation

Is it possible to fix this? It is very inconvenient to fix it by hand every
time.

I wasn't able to reproduce this with KOrganizer 5.19.3, but my mix of
software is different from the original report. Can you still reproduce
the bug?

What I did:
- I used mailbox.org as the CalDAV provider.
- I used the web interface, to avoid any problem with Thunderbird.
- I created a recurring event, and waited for it to sync down to KOrganizer.
- I made one occurrence an exception, and waited for it to sync.

The change synced properly, and no events disappeared.

If you change the name of that account from Balance to Account (or anything
else) do you still have the problem? For me, when I hit "Import CSV" the next
page of the wizard shows which account is being used, and as it doesn't know,
it asks me to specify the account. I even created a checking account named
"Balance" and on csv import, it still asked me which account to use.

I have tried hard to come up with arguments in favor of keeping the Desktop
containment, as a user of the option, other then the cries of 'you are
removing features!'.

The only things I can come up with so far are:
1)...
2) The extra, unused context menus "cluttering" a minimal desktop

While my initial reaction was "No!! Please, no!!", I can't really fault the
logic, no matter how much I try, so I can only grasp at straws.

Yes, there will be gripes and complaints, but I imagine very few.

What I understand from a widget to be "shown when relevant" is that the icon
appears when it's useful or has meaning, so night color widget icon (with
option "shown when relevant") should never appear on panel outside time of
activation even it's enabled or disabled, because only during time of
activation the status of being enabled or disabled has meaning to user.

This depends on the implementation. You can toggle it off in the open/save
dialog implementation using the F9 keyboard shortcut, or the relevant menu item
accessed from the Configure menu.

I'm not familiar with kdenlive's implementation of kfilewidget so I don't know
if it has this functionality or not. Moving over there so the kdenlive
developers can further triage the request.

Welp, found your problem. :) Not using the systemwide scaling feature and
trying to manually make every individual thing bigger isn't supported, and
causes issues like this. I recommend using the scaling system instead.

> Currently it looks like the maximum and minimum sizes are hard-coded as pixel

That would be quite unpredictable as the icon sizes would scale up and down as
you change the window size We'd give people seizures lol. :)

Search results are sorted by relevance, but the definition of relevance being
used by the software may not match your own. :)

However in this case the issue is different anyway: I think there is special
handling for Snap search rsults because Snap doesn't use AppStream which
otherwise provides our search results. I guess we need to merge the results
better.

Git commit ba964b3b52028423b5434058490f8a5062c18072 by Glen Ditchfield.
Committed on 01/04/2022 at 01:45.
Pushed by gditchfield into branch 'release/22.04'.

Preserve datetimes of incidences created from templates

When the editor applies a template, as identified by the "isTemplate"
property, it (usually) does not copy its start/end/due datetimes; it
keeps the datetimes set before the template was applied. Unfortunately
when the instance is saved it still has the "isTemplate" property, and
so when it is edited the editor does not copy its datetimes; the GUI
fields are left with default values. Removing the property fixes the
bug.

Agree.

This might need to be done for KF6 though, because we can't generally remove

If somebody provides a merge request for just that: If one toggles the "Show
menu" option we already have to "off" => add KHamburgerMenu to toolbar, that
would be acceptable.

This would then at least be consistent in both applications, as now the code is
shared.

If it makes that much sense is a different question, but if people just want to
hide the menu to have a cleaner style, so be it.

That's exactly how it works, in fact.

The exact contents of the hamburger menu are customizable. So you could just
stick the existing menu structure in there. I guess that could be a way to
implement it without tearing out your hair trying to come up with a curated
selection of menu items, the way we do in Dolphin, Gwenview, and Okular.

To solve it on X11 when using Libinput, the setting needs to be exposed in the
driver itself, so that we can write to it in our config UI. One is in progress:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-input-libinput/-/merge_requests/12

We can't implement the feature without that, as it is needed to expose the
setting to us.

In you videos, you show two pages side by side. Does it help, if you disable

In that configuration, okular stays at the page and zooms only.

If I enable the view mode "overview", I get your behavior. In that
configuration, I would rather ask, what zoom in means to the developer.
Looks to me, like okular increases the view starting from the upper left
corner.

It would feel more natural, if okular zooms into the area next to the finger
position. Do we know the mouse position, when zooming?
