Don't know if it helps but i believe that updateLayoutParameters() exits when
it shouldn;t commenting out the return restores the expected behavior.

[Breeze] [Bug 452716] New: Firefox window with browser.tabs.inTitlebar = 1 displays shadows even with "Shadows → Size → None"

2022-04-17 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452716

Bug ID: 452716
   Summary: Firefox window with browser.tabs.inTitlebar = 1
displays shadows even with "Shadows → Size → None"
   Product: Breeze
   Version: 5.24.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: window decoration
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: tustam...@yahoo.com.br
CC: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In Window Decorations, I use Breeze with disabled shadows (Shadows → Size →
None). But I noticed Firefox is still displaying shadows. I'm sure it wasn't
until a few days ago. I strongly suspect this is a regression in Plasma 5.24.4,
because it was installed 3 days ago.

The better I could track down the issue was to find out the issue is related to
Firefox preference browser.tabs.inTitlebar = 1 (in about:config). That
preference makes Firefox window to not display titlebar, with buttons like
minimize/close being attached next to tab bar. If you change the value to 0 or
2, titlebar is displayed and then window shadows disappear.

This is not a Firefox bug, the issue is reproducible with any version. And as I
said, this is a regression, it wasn't that way until recently.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Disable window shadows in Breeze settings (Window Decorations, edit Breeze,
Shadows → Size = None).
2. Open Firefox.
3. Right-click any point over navigation toolbar except address bar and click
"Customize toolbar...".
3. On lower left, uncheck "Title Bar" (this is the same as setting
browser.tabs.inTitlebar = 1 in about:config).

OBSERVED RESULT
Firefox window has shadows.

EXPECTED RESULT
Firefox window shouldn't have any shadow.

Remove unneeded check for comic Dataengine being valid

We do not really care, if the metadata of the plugin is valid, as long as we
can
properly create the dataengine from it.

Test Plan:
With plasma-frameworks master, and this on Plasma/5.24 based revision, the
dataengine can properly be loaded.

When intenitionally exporting a defunct plugin:
```cpp
class Dummy : public QObject
{
Q_OBJECT
public:
Dummy(QObject *parent, const QVariantList ) {
}
};
K_PLUGIN_CLASS_WITH_JSON(Dummy, "plasma-dataengine-comic.json")
```
The applet does not crash.

Using LANGUAGE=en:xx will cause programs incorrectly fallback to xx language,
instead of using English.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have zh_CN locale and corresponding translations for systemsettings on the
machine.
2. LANGUAGE=en:zh_CN systemsettings --help
3. LANGUAGE=en_US:zh_CN systemsettings --help
4. LANGUAGE=en_CA:zh_CN systemsettings --help

OBSERVED RESULT
In 2 and 4, the help information is partly English and partly Chinese.
In 3 it is fully English.

EXPECTED RESULT
They should all be in fully English.

KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This can also be confirmed using the following programs:
kwin_x11, plasmashell, okular, ark, konqueror

Non-ki18n-based applications (pure gettext, e.g. `ls` in coreutils) give fully
Chinese output, even if the first LANG is en_US.
It seems ki18n is doing *some* workaround here, but not fully.

2022-04-17 Thread Ryan Reamsbottom
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452713

Bug ID: 452713
   Summary: Steam notifications appear as all black on Wayland.
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.24.4
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 148210
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=148210=edit
showing the black square (bottom right) where a notification should be

SUMMARY
Steam will produce popups on the lower right hand corner of your main screen.
While it doesn't respect where the panel is (like on Windows), that's an issue
for another time (or for Valve). Sometimes, it will pop up a notification and
the notification will be all black (like a compositing issue perhaps?). I'm
not the only one who has seen it, I have attached a screenshot from a thread
from Reddit.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  Install Steam
2. Get a notification (common ones are: install finished, friend came online,
new message, etc)
3. Under certain scenarios the popup message will be entirely blacked out and
you are not able to read the contents.

OBSERVED RESULT
Black rectangle instead of message contents

EXPECTED RESULT
Message contents shown

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Seems to be fine under X11 and I am not able to produce it 100% of the time,
may depend on certain settings. This is the reddit thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/tpwlqk/steam_notifications_appearing_as_black_boxes/
Attached is a screenshot from that thread. I tried getting a friend to send a
message, and it appeared correctly, but it wasn't working previously.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 452710] New: Transfers of images, 1 or more, silently fails, or just halts forever.

2022-04-17 Thread Jaggz H.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452710

Bug ID: 452710
   Summary: Transfers of images, 1 or more, silently fails, or
just halts forever.
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Android
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: android-application
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: jagg...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

The halting has been an issue I've experienced with kdeconnect going back as
far as I can remember.
It's as if a timeout or retry is not handled properly.
Actually it seems like two issues now:
1. Some transfer failure results in the Android and Linux side sitting there in
a transfer -- never progressing, and on the Android side never ending
(notification just stays there, at some count through, saying "Sending 10 {or
whatever} files to...").
Once failed, it usually won't let me get any other transfers to start.
1a. This usually and frequently happens with "large" numbers of files. 10
isn't very large, but right now my 10 is sitting there halted also.
2. Last week, with another linux box, I couldn't get a single file to transfer,
and no notifications would pop up on the linux end.

Currently on android (OnePlus 6, OxygenOS), with kdeconnect 1.19.1.
Linux side is Debian Stable with kdeconnect package version: 20.12.3-2

(I could find some other bug reports with a crashing linux side, it seems, but
not this silent failure.)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to photos, select one or more
2. Share -> KDE connect -> {system name} or one of the Share items with "KDE
connect {System name}" as a single option.
3. Wait for transfer to just stop somewhere and not progress.

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Transfer either doesn't start, or just hangs at some file count.

EXPECTED RESULT
1. Failed transfers should definitely time out, or preferably retry until they
succeed, with a longer timeout if it never works (and a notification showing
the last fully-completed file transferred).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:  5.20.5
KDE Plasma Version:  5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version:  5.10.0-13-amd64
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Using the file-transfer module from the PC, accessing the android filesystem ->
DCIM, and transferring, seems to work consistently, without timeouts or hangs.

Thank you for kdeconnect. :)

With Android 13's introduction of Material You and customizable accent colors,
I would like to see a way to use KDE Connect to sync said accent color from
Android to Plasma. IE, my current accent color on Android is #EADDFF, and I'd
want KDE Connect to set my Plasma accent color to the same value. When I change
the accent on my phone, I'd like it to reflect in KDE as well.
The implementation I'm interested in is unidirectional, although I believe it
could technically be implemented bidirectionally, as there's other apps on
Android that let you modify accent colors.

SUMMARY
Moving one or more files with Dolphin in a Wayland session from one partition
to another causes a memory leak in the plasmashell process.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Cut one or more files by pressing Ctrl + X, or right clicking and selecting
Cut
2. Paste the files with into a directory on a partition that is different from
the files that were moved.

OBSERVED RESULT
The plasmashell process continuously consumes more memory, and takes more CPU
until the dolphin window is closed. The leaked memory is not returned even
after the window is closed. The CPU usage returns back to normal after the
window is closed.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should be no additional memory or CPU usage after a file is done moving.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: EndeavourOS, Kernel 5.17.3
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This bug only occurs in Wayland sessions, and not Xorg.
It occurs in both ext4 partitions, and btrfs partitions.
It doesn't occur when copying files. It also doesn't occur when only a folder
is moved. When moving both a file and a folder in the same operation, the bug
doesn't occur.

Yesterday I got 5.24.4 upgrade on Manjaro stable and the problem still exist, I
tried many scenarios to find the cause of the problem, and what I see is that
Plasma crashes often when the backspace key is pressed many times really fast
or when it's pressed continuously, it's like a new search is launched before
the previous search is finished due to big size of the list (more than 300
items) which causes the crash.

[kwin] [Bug 296171] Partial maximization state destroyed for fully maximized windows

2022-04-17 Thread Grósz Dániel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=296171

--- Comment #8 from Grósz Dániel  ---
This should be configurable. For some user preferences, the current behavior is
annoying (while the other bug's comments show that some people prefer the
current behavior). With the wide screens common today, I use vertically
maximized windows a lot, and frequently toggle between the vertically maximized
and the fully maximized state (especially with browser windows). The
easiest-to-activate action (double-clicking the title bar) should toggle
between those two states when starting with the vertically maximized state.

New crash information added by DrKonqi

plasmashell (5.24.4) using Qt 5.15.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Crashes every time I wake the monitors from sleep, if they've been off for at
least an hour. If the monitors have only been off for a short time (10 minutes
for example) it does not happen. I'm not sure what the time threshold is
exactly.

[krita] [Bug 452705] New: Crash while editing selection in Krita

2022-04-17 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452705

Bug ID: 452705
   Summary: Crash while editing selection in Krita
   Product: krita
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bryn.dickin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: krita (5.0.1)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.86.0
Operating System: Linux 5.13.0-39-generic x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Drkonqi Version: 5.22.5
Distribution: Ubuntu 21.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I was painting normally in a 2480x3508 painting with only a handful of layers,
most disabled, with normal blending modes. The file contained a set of five
embedded reference images, some with alpha channels. There were no animation
frames. I switched to the freehand selection tool and started to draw a
selection, and Krita abruptly crashed. I was nowhere near any sort of RAM limit
at this point. Fortunately thanks to frequent autosaves, minimal progress was
lost.

This is not the first time a similar crash has happened recently. The crash
comes unpredictably and is difficult to reproduce. Using the selection tool may
be a red herring but as far as I can recall that has been a common element in
each case.

The version of Krita I am using is 3:5.0.1-3~impish from the kritalime
repository.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

  Platform: Archlinux Packages

Created attachment 148206

The video puts 2 text editors side by side for comparission's sake;

SUMMARY
Block Selection Mode shouldn't cancel out, when doing a word
remove(ctrl+backspace);

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Block select;
2. Write;
3. Word remove(ctrl+backspace);

OBSERVED RESULT
It doesn't behave neither like single-selection word remove(preserve
selections), but for multiple selections;
[and those being a multi-line selection like];

Nor like multi-line edit(all selections get removed);

EXPECTED RESULT
Multi-line editing like behavior, because that's what I intended to find;

Alternatively, this could be a feature request for "multi-line editing"

--- Comment #6 from Ahmad Samir  ---
AFAIK, there is nothing in KIO code that would run ldconfig at all; so my
suspicion is that since it's ldconfig and fdatasync() that there were system
updates being installed in the background while the copying was being done,
shared-mime-info runs fdatasync as part of its installation steps, see:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xdg/shared-mime-info/-/commit/1f7683bfcbecbeffa802a1c361e1842db2fff4f8
; so that dev's experiment results were skewed by that, I think.

I don't know much about Btrfs, but that is just another data point.

Note that if the files being deleted are on a partition other than /home/, it
could be that trashing them is moving them to /home//.local/share/Trash;
but of course that doesn't explain why deleting a single text file would be
slow

Bug ID: 452700
   Summary: Unusably tiny window size after 'restore' is used
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.24.4
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR

Created attachment 148204

Tiny LibreOffice window in the top right.

SUMMARY
I clicked on the 'restore' button of the window. The window was resized to a
tiny window. The only thing that was visible was the close button. Not even the
button to enlarge the window again was visible.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I did that in a Window of LibreOffice. I have no idea how you could reproduce
the bug.

OBSERVED RESULT
The window is resized to a tiny part of the screen.

EXPECTED RESULT
Keep a minimum size so that at least the 'Maximise' and 'Close' buttons are
visible. Maybe even a bit larger to show some content as well.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE neon 5.24

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have no idea if this section is the right place to post this. If not, feel
free to move it.
I will also post this bug on the LibreOffice bugtracker since I have no idea if
the application has to set a minimum size or if the window manager has to do
that (or may set a default by itself if nothing is entered)

Fix check for argument length in DataEngine loader

After i wrote the initial patch, we decided that the plasma-frameworks internal
code which dumped
the entire KPluginMetaData object as a variant map in the args could be
removed.
However, this change was not applied to the sanity check in the latest revision
of the MR.

umbrello/umldoc.cpp : Add basic support for loading StarUML v5 XMI v2.1

- In function loadUMLObjectsFromXMI loop of node over element children
  move the code
if (tagEq(type, QLatin1String("packagedElement")) ||
   tagEq(type, QLatin1String("ownedElement"))) {
type = tempElement.attribute(QLatin1String("xmi:type"));
}
  up by a few lines to precede the test for tagEq(type, "Model").
  Reason: StarUML generates a model element
