[kwin] [Bug 454195] New: panel/applet/desktop/desktop icons context menu is dismissed when a notification time outs

2022-05-21 Thread Bacteria
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454195

Bug ID: 454195
Summary: panel/applet/desktop/desktop icons context menu is
dismissed when a notification time outs
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.24.90
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: dev.bacterios...@aleeas.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 149099
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149099=edit
screen recording

SUMMARY
When a notification times out, it also closes context menu of panel, applets or
desktop icons if any of them are open. This does not happen with a context menu
inside an application window.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Trigger a notification using: notify-send "test"
2. Open a context menu by right clicking on panel, desktop, desktop applet or
desktop icon
3. Wait for the notification to time out

OBSERVED RESULT
The notification also dismisses the context menu with itself

EXPECTED RESULT
The context menu should stay open when notification time outs

[kde] [Bug 454194] New: System crash when connecting monitors via a USB hub

2022-05-21 Thread Miguel Guthridge
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454194

Bug ID: 454194
Summary: System crash when connecting monitors via a USB hub
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: h...@outlook.com.au
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Sometimes, when I plug my laptop into my USB-C dock, my system crashes, taking
me back to the login screen and killing all my active tasks. This doesn't
happen all the time, and is quite unpredictable, but seems to happen the most
after startup. Since I get no error popups, I'm not sure where to get a
traceback from, but if someone can tell me, I can try to grab one the next time
I get a crash.

If it helps, this is the list of other bugs I get with my dock:
* Ethernet is broken unless I reconnect my dock after logging in.
* The external displays frequently lose their settings, meaning I need to
reconfigure my entire desktop for those displays again (I think this is 353975
or 427861).
* Sometimes audio from the dock is very stuttery, and can only be fixed after a
restart.
* My system tray keeps removing its configuration so all the icons reappear,
even though I've permanently hidden them.

The crash seems to be more likely to happen if I connect the dock to a
different USB port to usual.

My dock is a Lenovo ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect dock

OBSERVED RESULT
Everything crashes and I lose all my work, or my desktop loses all its
settings, or my audio becomes stuttery, or the system tray resets.

EXPECTED RESULT
My external displays connect normally, keeping their standard settings and not
breaking massively.

[plasmashell] [Bug 454105] plasma panel widgets disappear/get misplaced randomly after reboot

2022-05-21 Thread Bacteria
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454105

I use 2 panels and one of them had an application icon (spectacle) and that is
the one where I am seeing this bug. The spectacle icon goes below the other
widgets and there seems to be no way to remove it. One can only fix it by
removing and adding the panel back.

Temporarily I have removed the app icon from the panel and everything else
seems to be working fine. Maybe the application icons seem to be the problem? I
am not seeing the bug in my other panel which has no app icons.

2022-05-21 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454190

Bug ID: 454190
Summary: incorrect search box focus behavior
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.24.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Menu (Kicker)
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: afedotov...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Kicker's search field defocuses when moving mouse through top-level menus or
search results. Typing characters when the search box is defocused will focus
the search box again and enter the character. Typing backspace or delete when
the search box is defocused will only focus the text box again, and not delete
any character. Furthermore, if search results appear under the mouse when
typing, the search box immediately defocuses again.

EXPECTED RESULT
Search box should not ever defocus.

I suspect this is the same kind of bug as this one in krunner
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70). If so, this might be a bug with
frameworks concerning the search box widget/control. I don't really know the
software architecture of frameworks or plasma, though, so I might be mistaken

[systemsettings] [Bug 415364] Setting to disable when mouse is plugged in is missing when using Libinput driver

2022-05-21 Thread Evert Vorster
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415364

Here is some interesting new information that might cast some light on this
bug:
Under X11, I have the "Disable touchpad when mouse is plugged in" toggle.
Under Wayland, the "Disable touchpad when mouse is plugged in" toggle is
missing.

This means with exactly the same setup disabling the mouse works under X11, but
not under Wayland.
I am absolutely stunned that things are implemented differently between X11 and
Wayland, and that this functionality is missing in Wayland.

Wayland promises to be better, but from what I see there are some great
opportunities for improvement still before it becomes generally acceptable for
use, this bug being one case in point.

[kate] [Bug 454188] New: Kate crashed when ALT-Tabbing

2022-05-21 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454188

Bug ID: 454188
   Summary: Kate crashed when ALT-Tabbing
   Product: kate
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ironman...@naver.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kate (21.12.3)

Qt Version: 5.15.3
Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Operating System: Linux 5.17.9-xanmod1 x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Distribution: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
DrKonqi: 5.24.4 [KCrashBackend]

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed: Alt-tabbed into KATE
This issue happens very rarly, I'm unable to reproduce this issue even If I
want to, but it does happen sometimes when I'm writing something.
This issue becomes pretty serious when I'm researching something, and writing
those down on Kate, as I need to switch between my browser and Kate quite
often. This causes Kate to crash at least once, and everything I've written
that point is lost.

My OS is Kubuntu

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

Bug ID: 454186
Summary: Kwin is not scaling 1080p resolution on a 4k screen
correctly
   Product: kwin
   Version: git master
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: platform-x11-standalone
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@sdht.in
  Target Milestone: ---

I've a 1920x1080 resolution set on a 4K laptop screen. In Kwin master
(773384b59f), Plasma is being rendered in only 1/4th of the laptop screen, as
you can see in the attached photo. Downgrading to commit a23d23593b (from
April) fixes the rendering to the full screen as expected.

I have not been able to do a git bisect between these two commits yet to figure
out the first bad commit. If a fix is not immediately obvious, let me know and
I'll try to perform the git bisect sometime later.

   Version: 5.19.3
  Platform: Gentoo Packages

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

SUMMARY
KMail does not seem to follow the BinaryUnitDialect config option everywhere.
Likely it is just a matter of replacing some function with some higher-level
ones, as in a few places, KMail does do the right thing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set BinaryUnitDialect=2 in [Locale] section of $KDEHOME/.config/kdeglobals

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The BinaryUnitDialect config option is described in Bug 57240. This option is
for now still without a GUI, but Bug 364321 makes it clear this is about to
change. So apps like KMail should be made ready to follow BinaryUnitDialect.

This was possible with the former grid effect in 5.24.5 and before; besides
having an `overview` as well as a fast way of switching VDs, it was IMHO the
art of arranging windows across the various screens and VDs.
Since this new QML version seems to replace the former one in 5.25 onward [1],
I'd consider the lack of this feature to be a major regression. :)

[ark] [Bug 454181] New: Ark doesn't preview HTML files anymore

2022-05-21 Thread David
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454181

Bug ID: 454181
Summary: Ark doesn't preview HTML files anymore
   Product: ark
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com
CC: aa...@kde.org, rthoms...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
if I compress an HTML file, open the compressed file with arch, and then click
the HTML inside it to preview it, it will not show anything. Previously, it
used to pull up an interface that resembled konqueror when opening such files,
but now it looks different and does not display antything for HTML files, just
shows a blank page.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Generate some HTML file or download some from the internet.
2. Compress the HTML file into any ark-associated format.
3. Open the compressed file with ark.
4. Once ark shows what's inside the compressed file that was opened, click the
HTML file there to preview it with ark.

OBSERVED RESULT
Shows a blank document.

EXPECTED RESULT
Should render the HTML correctly like it used to be when it was (I guess) using
konqueror internally.

desirable.

I did mention flathub, yes. I apologise if I was not clear enough on this, but
before I downloaded the newest appimage of Krita to test if my issue was
present on the newest version, I had Krita already downloaded from flathub. It
was working just fine before, but when I tried making a new file with it today,
it didn't work as I was expecting it to. When I make a new file or open an
existing one with the version on flathub, the welcome screen is still there. I
can still resize docks and use the menus, like file, layers and the settings
menu, but I could not see the canvas. That's when I tried the newest version,
which I downloaded from the Krita website, and it simply crashes when I make or
open a file. I wonder if this happened because I upgraded from Fedora 35 to
Fedora 36? That's about the only thing I remember changing from the last time I
tried Krita.

[ktouch] [Bug 421794] dvorak-bépo dead keys (for î, û, â, ô, ï, ä, ë…) not recognised

Hi, I was wondering if «It seems also that Ktouch doesn't support […] other
characters such as "…" or non no-break space» may be because those characters
are missing in the original text from the exercise. You can check it out by
clicking on the second option in the configuration wheel/menu on the upper
right corner of the screen. It says something like «Course and keyboard layout
editor...» There you'll be able to find your course and exercise. Then you tan
copy the text and check it in a text editor.

Or you may be referring to those keys not being able to get inserted in ktouch.
If that is the case, then we have another problem, possibly not completely
related to dead keys. As far as I can tell (I've never written with BÉPO) you
insert those characters by pressing Shift and/or AltGr + some specific key,
don't you? I tested it on ktouch and I can insert these kind of characters
(i.e. @, æ, Æ, «, », €, µ, etc.), I mean the issue I experience is only related
to dead keys.

Please check also bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410876 where the
dead keys issue is being discussed.

2022-05-21 Thread postix

   Product: kwin
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-various
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: pos...@posteo.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Mouse mark is a very simple tool for drawing not anti-aliased mouse cursor
traces on the screen. It would be awesome if it were extended so in such a way
that it were more useful:

* Draw on mouse down
* Erase functionality
* Color changes
* Arrows
* Pen support
* etc.

Something like `gromit-mpx` or `ppInk`.

This wishlist issue may be too extended, so it might make sense to break it
down into smaller pieces and to reference these issues.

Hi, I've just tried version 22.04.1 from flatpak, but the issue is still there:
no dead key works. I'll leave an attachment containing the terminal output as
it may be useful. It's obtained from launching the software, loading an
activity, trying to insert some dead key letters (á, à, ä, etc.), closing the
exercise and finally exiting from the app. By the way, when failing to
recognize dead keys, it won't display any particular message on terminal.

I've also found another bug report that seem to be a duplicate of this one
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423822). Let me know if I should leave
"marking as duplicate" to somebody else. I do so in the hope that we could
better deal with this issue. I will mark it as confirmed as well, and update
version number and title to better represent the issue. Again, if that's not
good practice, just let me know.

Please let me know if any other information may be useful.

Regards

Plasma 5.24.5 here, and this annoying issue persists: once every few reboots,
some GTK-based software installed via Flatpak would get its appearance reset to
default. Manually reapplying the GTK theme via the System Settings is enough to
fix both the theme and the font(s) instantly. At times, it also can be fixed by
simply rebooting the system, as the breakage seems to take place during
startup.

Oddly enough, it doesn't seem to affect all software equally. For example,
there was at least one time when Firefox (the primary offender) forgot its
appearance settings, but LibreOffice (also GTK) did not.
