Bug ID: 454783
Summary: KStars FITS-Viewer Histogram does not automatically
update
   Product: kstars
   Version: 3.5.8
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: mutla...@ikarustech.com
  Reporter: albert.fetsc...@t-online.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

KStars FITS-Viewer Histogram does not automatically update.

KStars Version 3.5.8 Stable
OS: Linux (armv7l) release 5.10.103-v7l+
Astroberry
Raspberry Pi 4B

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

CCD "ZWO ASI120MM-S" is connected to Astroberry.

Step 1:

EKOS -> Click on button "Capture a preview"
KStars FITS-Viewer:
Shows preview.
OK!

KStars FITS-Viewer -> Click on button "Histogram"
KStars FITS-Viewer:
Shows histogram graphic.
OK!

Step 2:

EKOS -> Click on button "Capture a preview"
KStars FITS-Viewer:
Shows preview. That is OK!
Histogram graphic is NOT updated! That is of course NOT OK!
FAILED!

KStars FITS-Viewer -> Preview Tab -> Click on "Tab Statistics" (just for fun)
KStars FITS-Viewer -> Preview Tab:
Shows actual statistics (values looks good). That is OK!
OK!

KStars FITS-Viewer -> Preview Tab -> Click on "Tab Histogram" (to go back to
histogram)
KStars FITS-Viewer -> Preview Tab:
Shows now the updated histogram grapic. Now it is OK!
OK!

KStars FITS-Viewer -> Preview Tab:
Shows histogram data but some values (mean, median) are not
updated (compared to previous statistics tab). Therefore also NOT OK!
FAILED!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have an Nvidia card with proprietary drivers.
I heard that: "they don't suspend and resume properly." Don't know if it's
actually related.

Further more the
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
mentions kmix as needing the "--nofork" argument yet when I do "run --nofork"
kmix says it doesn't recognize it.

It's been 5 years since this bug was created, but I don't lose hope that one
day someone with the necessary knowledge will solve it. In any case, I find it
curious that you can read on the Elisa Wiki in the Goals section that the
development is "Focused on music player (managing your music collection is not
a development priority)"¹; but you indeed can manage a music library, can
generate backgrounds with a nice blur effect from the cover art, and other
miscellaneous stuff like song ratings, etc. but can't properly play an album
like The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) in 2022.
Is there any update on this?
Anyway, thanks for all the work!

Monitor scale factor does not affect this. The crucial aspect is whether the

[kwin] [Bug 454779] New: QMenus mispositioned using Wayland QPA with multiple monitors when top edges of monitors are not aligned

2022-06-02 Thread Be
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454779

Bug ID: 454779
Summary: QMenus mispositioned using Wayland QPA with multiple
monitors when top edges of monitors are not aligned
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.24.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: b...@gmx.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 149423
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149423=edit
screenshot of mispositioned menu

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect external monitor
2. Start Plasma Wayland session
3. Open Display Configuration in System Settings
4. Drag representations of monitors such that their top edges are not aligned,
click Apply
5. Open QWidgets application, for example Kate, and open a menu

OBSERVED RESULT
Menu is shown in an incorrect position, for example to the right side of the
window

EXPECTED RESULT
Menu is shown at the clicked location

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Fedora 36

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Workarounds:
1. Start Qt application with `-platform xcb` to run with XWayland (not great
due to blurry high DPI scaling)
2. Align tops of monitors in Display Configuration

I cannot reproduce this with GNOME Wayland, so it seems to be an issue in the
interaction between KWin and Qt's Wayland QPA.

[frameworks-qqc2-desktop-style] [Bug 454778] New: The regexp check for shortcuts MnemonicData detection is not sufficient

2022-06-02 Thread ratijas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454778

Bug ID: 454778
Summary: The regexp check for shortcuts MnemonicData detection
is not sufficient
   Product: frameworks-qqc2-desktop-style
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: m...@ratijas.tk
CC: ahiems...@heimr.nl, k...@davidedmundson.co.uk,
noaha...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
This code is problematic:

Shortcut {
//in case of explicit & the button manages it by itself
enabled: !(RegExp(/\&[^\&]/).test(controlRoot.text))

It does not handle even what it's directly supposed to: an ampersand but not a
double ampersand.
This snippet is duplicated across several controls. It should be fixed by
rewriting into native (C++) code.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. console.log(!(RegExp(/\&[^\&]/).test("Yaha && ha!")))

OBSERVED RESULT
false

EXPECTED RESULT
true

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Affected components are:

- Button.qml
- CheckBox.qml
- MenuBarItem.qml
- MenuItem.qml
- RadioButton.qml
- Switch.qml
- TabButton.qml
- ToolButton.qml

[kde] [Bug 454511] Alt+a does not work when "Czech" is one of the layouts, even if it's not currently selected

intended behavior is not quite the same but similar. Added recently for Wayland
session. For X11, it always worked that way if one of Latin layouts is added
first in Settings.
This functionality is actually implemented in Qt and we just call it from our
compositor. The logic behind it is to make Global shortcuts work uniformly on
any layout. So if physical key has some Global shortcut defined for Latin
layout - it always takes place whatever actual layout you have active.
Just for the case, please confirm it works on Wayland the same way.
PS:
it still doesn't clear to me why you don't get standard action defined for
Alt+`, it should switch windows of one group.

That might be a different problem, Alt+w, Alt+h etc. are probably not global
shortcuts. But then it should be reproducible on any desktop environment.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 454777] New: Screen locking no longer works

2022-06-02 Thread Ilya Bizyaev
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454777

Bug ID: 454777
Summary: Screen locking no longer works
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: 5.24.90
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bizy...@zoho.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I am currently using openSUSE Leap 15.3 with KDE repositories, so I installed
updates for Plasma 5.24.90. After the update, I realized that kwin and a bunch
of other packages are still at 5.24.5, but things worked smoothly regardless,

Then, the day before yesterday I got the missing updates to 5.24.90:
gmenudbusmenuproxy
layer-shell-qt5
libKScreenLocker5
plasma5-integration-plugin
xembedsniproxy
xdg-desktop-portal-kde
libKF5Screen7
libkscreen2-plugin
kwayland-integration
kscreenlocker
kwin5
plasma5-workspace-libs
plasma5-workspace
plasma5-session(-wayland)
(note that I use X11)

I installed those and made no other tweaks. Since then, whenever I try to lock
my screen (or it locks automatically), instead of the lock screen I get the
"switch to TTY and unlock with loginctl" message :(

There are some QML errors in journalctl logs:
https://paste.opensuse.org/99027736
However, `/usr/lib/kscreenlocker_greet --testing` works as I'd expect.
Even `/usr/lib/kscreenlocker_greet` (without arguments) works and shows a
proper lock screen.

As instructed in openSUSE's KDE channel, I also did `strace -fetrace=execve -p
$(pidof ksmserver)`: https://paste.opensuse.org/78537251 (this output is from 1
lock attempt). Quoting fvogt: "The strace shows that execve succeeded, but at
some point it fails with 127 (file not found)". I have no clue what could be
missing…

As a workaround, I have disabled the lock screen completely for now.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Trigger the lock screen with a timer or a keyboard shortcut

OBSERVED RESULT
"The screen locker is broken and unlocking is not possible anymore. In order to
unlock switch to a virtual terminal…"

EXPECTED RESULT
My lovely Breeze-themed lock screen, as usual.

[Skanlite] [Bug 454776] New: Wishlist: let one control the file index start value and increment

2022-06-02 Thread Sergio
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454776

Bug ID: 454776
Summary: Wishlist: let one control the file index start value
and increment
   Product: Skanlite
   Version: 22.04.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kare.s...@iki.fi
  Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Skanlite offers the possibility to name files automatically, including an index
as in scan_.png where is a number.
With the first save, it is possible to select the initial value.

This is good, but IMHO it could be improved.

Scenario: you have a non-duplex scanner and you want to scan multipage
documents printed on both sides of the paper.

Suppose you have 4 pages printed on both sides. You would like to set the
initial index to something (say 0101) for the first scan, with a +2 increment,
to scan all the odd pages, then you would like to turn the pages, re-feed then
in the ADF, set the initial index to the correct value (0108) and the increment
to -2, so that you can now scan the even pages and have the resulting files
nicely ordered.

The venerable `xsane` lets you do this, so skanlite should be no less ;-) What
do you think?

I had the same problem. It appears to happen when there it tries to open a file
and can't because of permissions or the file being open etc. I haven't done
enough testing to be sure, but after dismissing all the crashes it worked and
there were about an equal number of bad file opens in the logs. Everything else
worked fine.

I tried in a fresh VM with (L)Ubuntu 20.04, and installed RKWard 0.7.4 from
this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~rkward-devel/+archive/ubuntu/rkward-stable-cran

I cannot reproduce this problem with that (and neither in my regular setup). It
also seems odd that "nothing happens" when you click the file. If the
association would simply be missing, the system should prompt you to select an
application (or open the file in kate or similiar).

Please
1. Check your file assocations for text/r in your system settings.
2. Verify that you can open the file from the command line using 'rkward
filename.R' .

I suspect a configuration problem causing the latter to fail. Therefore:

3. What's the result of 'which rkward'?
4. In your Application Launcher, find RKWard, right click on it, select "Edit
Application". What path is shown for the desktop file?

It would be nice to be able to launch a backup plan from something like a
systemd timer, a corn job, etc. Dbus would be ok but fishing the code and the
bus exposure didn't show anything promising.

There are probably many use cases for this, but I just want backups to run
unattended in the middle of the night.

SUMMARY

Currently Skanlite does not remember its setup when switching from flatbed to
ADF mode and viceversa.

For instance on my scanner (a multifunction HP device) when switching from
flatbed to ADF the scan area size always switches to "custom" and the maximum
available size. This is uncomfortable because often one finds him/her-self
setting up everything to realize only at the last minute that the source was
wrong and then fixing the ADF/flatbed source makes it necessary to re-enter the
scan area.

Yes, I can reproduce the problem on Windows and digiKam-7.7.0 here now. The
factor is the use of multicore. The problem does not occur with digiKam-7.6.0
on Windows or on the Linux platform in general. So the question is, what has
changed under digiKam-7.7.0?

If a face scan is run on a single image in the preview beforehand, there is no
longer a problem with multi-core and the maintenance dialog.

[digikam] [Bug 454739] Find New Items is stuck at 0%

2022-06-02 Thread Steve Franks
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454739

I allowed digikam to run for about 10 minutes, but nothing new was added to
the debugview output.
I circumvented the problem by restoring the database files from Tuesday.
When I have time I will restore the database from today and delete
Generic_PicFlowView_Plugin.dll.
I will let you know what happens.
Regards
Steve

Thanks for this information. Still, I don't get why having a flickering
checkmark icon is useful in a progress bar.
To me, the checkmark created the impression that something relevant was
completed.
Having completed the fingerprinting of a single file is just a single part of
the task, there is nothing special about this that would need a separate icon.

If you interrupted the first initial scan (digiKam closed) we no longer have
the correct number of files to be scanned. For reasons of speed, we don't want
to count all files on network drives every time, because it takes a long time
and costs time unnecessarily. Just wait for the process to complete.

Jan, the exact same thing is happening to me ever since I've switched to Plasma
(using Wayland). I'm using an old HP Sleekbook 14 (old AMD card, radeon
graphics driver) and I get the same results as you. Things I've tried:

- Disabling screen lock on suspend: same results, so likely kscreenlocker is
not the culprit.
- Using a different DE/Compositor: resuming behaves correctly (tested on Sway
and gtkgreet using Cage), so it seems to be a Plasma thing.

Running updated Arch Linux here. Might be a little difficult for me to try
patches, unstable versions and the like since this is an old computer, but I
can provide logs and run some tests if the devs need them.

If you start with digiKam, you don't import images via the import tool. The

add a collection to your existing image directory.

[digikam] [Bug 454770] New: Progress bar shows checkmark

2022-06-02 Thread Roland Illig
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454770

Bug ID: 454770
   Summary: Progress bar shows checkmark
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.6.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Database-Similarity
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: roland.il...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
During the task 'Fingerprints', the progress bar shows a thumbnail of the
current image.
>From time to time, this image changes to a checkmark.
There is no apparent reason for showing a checkmark. Neither is the task
finished, nor is the success of a single fingerprinting operation a surprise,
therefore there is no need for an icon.
The checkmark icon creates unnecessary confusion.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Generate the fingerprints of a collection of 100_000 images.

OBSERVED RESULT
Task in the progress bar sometimes shows checkmark instead of the thumbnail of
the current image.

EXPECTED RESULT
No checkmark, since there is no reason for it.

2022-06-02 Thread Roland Illig

Bug ID: 454768
   Summary: Progress bar is useless
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.6.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Import-Albums
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: roland.il...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I am importing a photo collection of 100_000 photos, all in a single folder.
During this import, Digikam does not show the progress of the import in the
progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
There is an entry in the progress bar named "Search new entries", but that
progress bar is at 100%, so it cannot possibly represent the import, which
currently is at 35_000 images out of 100_000 total.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import a folder containing 100_000 images.

OBSERVED RESULT
There is no useful information in the progress bar.

EXPECTED RESULT
The progress bar contains a task named "Importing images".
This task can be paused. At least as long as digikam constantly crashes during
an import. (At least I hope that digikam crashes only during an import, and not
during normal operation. I am still not done with the initial import.)

  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Database-Similarity

SUMMARY
I have a photo collection of 100_000 photos, all in a single folder.
Several of the files are duplicates, I want to clean them up.
Digikam is still importing the images, it is taking 2 days already.
As long as this import is running, I cannot search for duplicates.
This makes up for a bad first impression of Digikam.

OBSERVED RESULT
Clicking on "Update fingerprints" does nothing.

EXPECTED RESULT
Since 33_000 of the 100_000 images are already imported, I expect that I am
able to search for duplicates within these images already.
Of course I might miss those duplicates that are not yet imported, but at least
I can start right now.
