In any case, I find it curious that you can read on the Elisa Wiki in the Goals section that the development is "Focused on music player (managing your music collection is not a development priority)"¹; but you indeed can manage a music library, can generate backgrounds with a nice blur effect from the cover art, and other miscellaneous stuff like song ratings, etc. but can't properly play an album like The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) in 2022. [kwin] [Bug 454779] New: QMenus mispositioned using Wayland QPA with multiple monitors when top edges of monitors are not aligned
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454779 Bug ID: 454779 Summary: QMenus mispositioned using Wayland QPA with multiple monitors when top edges of monitors are not aligned Product: kwin Version: 5.24.5 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: b...@gmx.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 149423 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149423=edit screenshot of mispositioned menu STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect external monitor 2. Start Plasma Wayland session 3. Open Display Configuration in System Settings 4. Drag representations of monitors such that their top edges are not aligned, click Apply 5. Open QWidgets application, for example Kate, and open a menu OBSERVED RESULT Menu is shown in an incorrect position, for example to the right side of the window EXPECTED RESULT Menu is shown at the clicked location SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 Fedora 36 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Workarounds: 1. Start Qt application with `-platform xcb` to run with XWayland (not great due to blurry high DPI scaling) 2. Align tops of monitors in Display Configuration I cannot reproduce this with GNOME Wayland, so it seems to be an issue in the interaction between KWin and Qt's Wayland QPA. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kde] [Bug 454511] Alt+a does not work when "Czech" is one of the layouts, even if it's not currently selected
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454511 Andrey changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|UPSTREAM|WAITINGFORINFO --- Comment #4 from Andrey --- (In reply to sedmicha from comment #2) > The problem was the default shortcut Alt+~ and that there is a ~ character > on the A key on the third level of the Czech keyboard (AltGr+a outputs ~). > It seems like when KDE handles shortcuts, it checks on all key levels of all > added layouts looking for a match. > > This seemed very weird to me at first, but thinking about it a bit more I > could see why KDE would want to handle shortcuts like that. So I'm not sure > if this is the intended behavior or not, but I assume it is. intended behavior is not quite the same but similar. Added recently for Wayland session. For X11, it always worked that way if one of Latin layouts is added first in Settings. This functionality is actually implemented in Qt and we just call it from our compositor. The logic behind it is to make Global shortcuts work uniformly on any layout. So if physical key has some Global shortcut defined for Latin layout - it always takes place whatever actual layout you have active. Just for the case, please confirm it works on Wayland the same way. PS: it still doesn't clear to me why you don't get standard action defined for Alt+`, it should switch windows of one group. > For example in the Opensuse bug report I linked, there's a comment from > someone with a Polish/Colemak layout that has issues with a bunch of key > combinations that don't work. He says: > ``` > I am experiencing the same issue, but also with Polish and Colemak layouts. > Currently I am unable to use Emacs keybindings such as Alt+w, Alt+h, > Control+Alt+a etc. Weirdly enough Alt+a works for me. > ``` That might be a different problem, Alt+w, Alt+h etc. are probably not global shortcuts. But then it should be reproducible on any desktop environment. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 454777] New: Screen locking no longer works
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454777 Bug ID: 454777 Summary: Screen locking no longer works Product: kscreenlocker Version: 5.24.90 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: bizy...@zoho.com CC: bhus...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I am currently using openSUSE Leap 15.3 with KDE repositories, so I installed updates for Plasma 5.24.90. After the update, I realized that kwin and a bunch of other packages are still at 5.24.5, but things worked smoothly regardless, Then, the day before yesterday I got the missing updates to 5.24.90: gmenudbusmenuproxy layer-shell-qt5 libKScreenLocker5 plasma5-integration-plugin xembedsniproxy xdg-desktop-portal-kde libKF5Screen7 libkscreen2-plugin kwayland-integration kscreenlocker kwin5 plasma5-workspace-libs plasma5-workspace plasma5-session(-wayland) (note that I use X11) I installed those and made no other tweaks. Since then, whenever I try to lock my screen (or it locks automatically), instead of the lock screen I get the "switch to TTY and unlock with loginctl" message :( There are some QML errors in journalctl logs: https://paste.opensuse.org/99027736 However, `/usr/lib/kscreenlocker_greet --testing` works as I'd expect. Even `/usr/lib/kscreenlocker_greet` (without arguments) works and shows a proper lock screen. As instructed in openSUSE's KDE channel, I also did `strace -fetrace=execve -p $(pidof ksmserver)`: https://paste.opensuse.org/78537251 (this output is from 1 lock attempt). Quoting fvogt: "The strace shows that execve succeeded, but at some point it fails with 127 (file not found)". I have no clue what could be missing… As a workaround, I have disabled the lock screen completely for now. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Trigger the lock screen with a timer or a keyboard shortcut OBSERVED RESULT "The screen locker is broken and unlocking is not possible anymore. In order to unlock switch to a virtual terminal…" EXPECTED RESULT My lovely Breeze-themed lock screen, as usual. [Skanlite] [Bug 454776] New: Wishlist: let one control the file index start value and increment
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454776 Bug ID: 454776 Summary: Wishlist: let one control the file index start value and increment Product: Skanlite Version: 22.04.1 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kare.s...@iki.fi Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Skanlite offers the possibility to name files automatically, including an index as in scan_.png where is a number. With the first save, it is possible to select the initial value. This is good, but IMHO it could be improved. Scenario: you have a non-duplex scanner and you want to scan multipage documents printed on both sides of the paper. Suppose you have 4 pages printed on both sides. You would like to set the initial index to something (say 0101) for the first scan, with a +2 increment, to scan all the odd pages, then you would like to turn the pages, re-feed then in the ADF, set the initial index to the correct value (0108) and the increment to -2, so that you can now scan the even pages and have the resulting files nicely ordered. The venerable `xsane` lets you do this, so skanlite should be no less ;-) What do you think? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It also seems odd that "nothing happens" when you click the file. If the association would simply be missing, the system should prompt you to select an application (or open the file in kate or similiar). Please 1. Check your file assocations for text/r in your system settings. 2. Verify that you can open the file from the command line using 'rkward filename.R' . For instance on my scanner (a multifunction HP device) when switching from flatbed to ADF the scan area size always switches to "custom" and the maximum available size. [digikam] [Bug 454770] New: Progress bar shows checkmark
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454770 Bug ID: 454770 Summary: Progress bar shows checkmark Product: digikam Version: 7.6.0 Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Database-Similarity Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: roland.il...@gmx.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY During the task 'Fingerprints', the progress bar shows a thumbnail of the current image. >From time to time, this image changes to a checkmark. There is no apparent reason for showing a checkmark. Neither is the task finished, nor is the success of a single fingerprinting operation a surprise, therefore there is no need for an icon. The checkmark icon creates unnecessary confusion. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Generate the fingerprints of a collection of 100_000 images. OBSERVED RESULT Task in the progress bar sometimes shows checkmark instead of the thumbnail of the current image. EXPECTED RESULT No checkmark, since there is no reason for it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use Digikam 7.6.0 in German. 2. In the left bar, click on 'Suchen' ('Search') OBSERVED RESULT English text on the buttons. EXPECTED RESULT German text on the buttons. [digikam] [Bug 454768] New: Progress bar is useless
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454768 Bug ID: 454768 Summary: Progress bar is useless Product: digikam Version: 7.6.0 Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Import-Albums Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: roland.il...@gmx.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I am importing a photo collection of 100_000 photos, all in a single folder. During this import, Digikam does not show the progress of the import in the progress bar at the bottom of the screen. There is an entry in the progress bar named "Search new entries", but that progress bar is at 100%, so it cannot possibly represent the import, which currently is at 35_000 images out of 100_000 total. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Import a folder containing 100_000 images. OBSERVED RESULT There is no useful information in the progress bar. EXPECTED RESULT The progress bar contains a task named "Importing images". This task can be paused. At least as long as digikam constantly crashes during an import. (At least I hope that digikam crashes only during an import, and not during normal operation. I am still not done with the initial import.) [digikam] [Bug 454767] New: Similarity search does not work djuring the initial import
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454767 Bug ID: 454767 Summary: Similarity search does not work djuring the initial import Product: digikam Version: 7.6.0 Platform: Other OS: Other Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Database-Similarity Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: roland.il...@gmx.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I have a photo collection of 100_000 photos, all in a single folder. Several of the files are duplicates, I want to clean them up. Digikam is still importing the images, it is taking 2 days already. As long as this import is running, I cannot search for duplicates. This makes up for a bad first impression of Digikam. OBSERVED RESULT Clicking on "Update fingerprints" does nothing. EXPECTED RESULT Since 33_000 of the 100_000 images are already imported, I expect that I am able to search for duplicates within these images already. Of course I might miss those duplicates that are not yet imported, but at least I can start right now.
