[kdenlive] [Bug 458123] New: Volume effect can't adjust volume when not on keyframe, even when keyframes disabled

2022-08-20 Thread mashkal2000
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458123

Bug ID: 458123
Summary: Volume effect can't adjust volume when not on
keyframe, even when keyframes disabled
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 22.04.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Effects & Transitions
  Assignee: vpi...@kde.org
  Reporter: mashkal2...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Adjusting volume of a clip with the volume effect is not possible when a
keyframe is not selected, even when keyframes are disabled for the effect. This
is particularly annoying when the effect is copy-pasted from another clip

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place clip on timeline
2. Apply effect volume (keyframable)
3. move playhead off 1st keyframe
4. create new keyframe
5. move playhead off either keyframe
6. disable keyframing for the effect

OBSERVED RESULT
adjusting volume with the slider is impossible until playhead is moved onto
keyframe

EXPECTED RESULT
volume is adjusted.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This would require keyframes to be dealt with somehow. Maybe there could be a
warning if the volume keyframes are not at the same level, and if the user
accepts, then the keyframes get deleted.

This is almost definitely another instance of bug 418312 (now fixed on the

since the application was started, which might seem contradicted by your

[valgrind] [Bug 458118] New: Track deletions of objects from unloaded shared libraries

2022-08-20 Thread Michael Barth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458118

Bug ID: 458118
Summary: Track deletions of objects from unloaded shared
libraries
   Product: valgrind
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: memcheck
  Assignee: jsew...@acm.org
  Reporter: spirrw...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I don't know if this is something that is possible. Consider the following, you
create an object in one shared library that is deleted in another. You then
unload the library that did the allocation, and then proceed to delete the
object. If that object is not trivial and has destructors that need to be
called, you will end up with a segmentation fault.

Valgrind will simply report the issue as "is not stack'd, malloc'd or
(recently) free'd." This had lead me to believing I had some kind of heap
corruption bug with an overwrite or underwrite somewhere that was altering the
pointer to point at something that did not exist. But it was a lot simpler than
that, the shared library that created the object was simply unloaded.

If these kinds of bugs could be found by Valgrind, that would be extremely
helpful.

We are aware and working on the release, see current status here:
https://invent.kde.org/utilities/krusader/-/issues/22#note_499898
I think if devs are as active as in the past two weeks, we can easily release
in Sep-Oct, as we also need to allow time for translation updates.

There should be only a few distributions that stabilized >= kf-5.95. For Gentoo
I can provide a pre-release ebuild. Please try it and report regressions if you
find any.

I don't reproduce this issue.

With a file containing the text "toto" named test.log
(echo "toto" > test.log)

I am guessing something else is afoot, mimetype association configuration,
previews settings...

[kwin] [Bug 458113] Cursor not visible in windowed Android apps in waydroid (Wayland)

2022-08-20 Thread Krešimir Čohar

I'm not sure this is a kwin bug but I'm reporting it here in case it is
(because the apps work fine on GNOME).
Otherwise, Wayland has been so good on Plasma lately I've switched to it for my
daily driving, great work dev team.

2022-08-20 Thread Krešimir Čohar

Bug ID: 458113
Summary: Cursor not visible in windowed Android apps in
waydroid (Wayland)
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.25.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux

Android Settings app in Waydroid, cursor visible in GNOME but not Plasma

SUMMARY

The cursor / mouse pointer is not visible when Android apps are run through
waydroid in windowed mode (with the property "persist.waydroid.multi_windows
true" enabled). Input works, clicking and scrolling works. Disabling the
property (setting it to false) brings back the cursor, but everything runs
fullscreen. This issue does not occur in GNOME (the cursor is visible even when
windowed).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install and set up waydroid.
2. Enable the multi window property (waydroid prop set
persist.waydroid.multi_windows true).
3. Run any Android app.

OBSERVED RESULT
The app runs, clicking and scrolling works, but the mouse pointer isn't
visible.

EXPECTED RESULT
The app runs, clicking and scrolling works, the mouse pointer is visible.

Here you go.
Basically it just sits like that, it doesn't bring up the expected
selection like
if I do a search outside of Krita. I included a screen shot of a normal
search
that I did outside of the Krita program.

@jasem I cannot reproduce. Of course, I'm not using the same software. I run a
64-bit Ubuntu 20.04 on an intel mini-pc (NUC). I'm not running Stellarmate OS.
Perhaps you folks can try it out on an RPi4 with 32-bit OK and look further.
Passing back to you.

Sorry for being annoying, but even if you stick to this option that results are
sorted by relevance as they are coming from appstream, there's something wrong
on the plasma-discoverer side either. When I search for "konq" with using
appstreamcli, it gives me these top apps:

=
root@orangepi4-lts:~# appstreamcli search konq
Identifier: org.kde.konquest.desktop [desktop-application]
Name: Konquest
Summary: Galactic Strategy Game
Package: konquest
Homepage: https://apps.kde.org/konquest

---
Identifier: org.kde.konqueror.desktop [desktop-application]

=

And it is nowhere near to what I see in the plasma-discover.

One of the options how this could be done

When you in the "two panes" view mode and click on some of the application
items on the right hand side pane, it opens a 3rd pane on a right hand side
with details about that application.

But there's no UI option to close that pane and return back to "two panes" view
- only a keyboard one (to press ESC). This is a big miss for mouse-only /
touch-only / whatever disabled users who cannot use keyboard all the time.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In the Thumbnails view of an album, click on a thumbnail to select it.
2. Leaving the mouse pointer on the thumbnail you clicked, use the arrow keys
to move the selection to a different, nearby thumbnail.
3. Press F2 to rename the selected photo.
4. Edit the filename (for example, add an underscore to the end) and press
Enter to save it.

OBSERVED RESULT
The thumbnail of the renamed photo disappears and a blank white space is in its
place. The thumbnail reappears when it is selected or moused over.

EXPECTED RESULT
The thumbnail of the renamed photo should not disappear.

I have a similar experience since I switched to Wayland when upgrading to
Fedora 36. Applications still running on XWayland seem to actually remember
their size and position, but all native Wayland applications, including all KDE
applications, don't even get restored on restart.

Also, this behaviour is the same with or without an external screen. Thus, one
could argue that this is not the right bug report anymore, but then again, the
behaviour has changed throughout the years without any source code changes
linked to this bug report. It kind of leaves the impression that there is
currently no developer that is on top of these code paths.

[kio-gdrive] [Bug 458106] New: [Feature request] Add offline sync functionality

SUMMARY

On the official Google Drive app for Windows, there is a feature where you can
select files to be synced offline (that is, all changes from other devices are
automatically downloaded for offline use) and the rest of them are streamed
(just like kio-gdrive does now). I searched really deep on the internet and I'm
yet to find an app that does that on Linux. Kio-gdrive is the closest thing I
found but it doesn't have the offline sync functionality. I have no idea if
this is even possible using the kio api but if it is, it would be nice to have.

Thanks

I think it would be fair to let user to decide how does he want his search
results to be sorted:
- either by relevance
- by rating
- by name
- by the number of downloads

This crazyness of Google and Apple to not let users to sort the search results
in their application stores must be gone. If you're either android or apple
user, you should know it yourself, how little (actually none) controls you have
over the search results. Doesn't that drive you crazy? So why to make the same
bad decision?

Sorry for being harsh, guys, but this searching / sorting topic is spanning for
4 years already without any real progress. And you can hear it from every place
on internet, that newbies are discouaged from use "visual software package
managers", because they suck. And this is one of the reason why.

tagwer...@innerjoin.org changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||tagwer...@innerjoin.org

There's an extra twist...

You did a:
touch myfile.foobar
balooshow -x myfile.foobar
and got
Terms: Mapplication Moctet Mstream

If I try this (on Neon), I get:
Terms: Mapplication Mx Mzerosize

If I do the same for myfile.txt
touch myfile.txt
balooshow -x myfile.txt
I still get:
Terms: Mapplication Mx Mzerosize

The "twist" seems to be if baloo is doing content indexing it flags all(?)
empty files as "application/x-zerosize". If I purge and reindex without
content, I get "application/octet-stream" for the empty myfile.foobar (and
"text/plain" for myfile.txt)

If I look a bit closer with kmimetypefinder, I get:

$ kmimetypefinder myfile.txt
text/plain
$ kmimetypefinder myfile.foobar
application/x-zerosize

and also:

$ echo "Hello Penguin" > myfile.foobar
$ kmimetypefinder myfile.foobar
text/plain

and that seems reasonable: For an empty file, if the filename indicates a
mimetype, use it; if not, say application/x-zerosize.

I'd say baloo ought to give the same results here irrespective of whether it is
content indexing or not and it would probably make sense if it follows
kmimetypefinder logic, so:

"text/plain" for an empty myfile.txt
"application/x-zerosize" for an empty unrecognised filetype (myfile.foobar,
in this case)
"text/plain" for an unrecognised filetype with (text) content

Krunner would then list an empty myfile.txt but not an empty myfile.foobar.
Maybe this is good enough? or am I missing something?

[krusader] [Bug 455909] Unable to browse 7z archives as folders with krarc:/

  Component|Archive |krarc
 CC||krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org

Yeah, now things have cleared out a bit.
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.97.0
Qt Version: 5.15.5

Now browsing 7z archives with the sevenz:/ protocol handler in dolphin or
krusader (almost) works.
The only annoyances are
1. Browsing a GB sized archive is painfully slow.
2. Loading a small text file into an editor from such an archive sometimes
fails, but retrying usually works.

But... doing the same with the krarc:/ protocol handler (whic is installed by
krusader afaik) hangs both dolphin and krusader.
Browsing a 7z archive with krarc:/ was instant, like Ark, but now is broken.

[gwenview] [Bug 458105] New: UX for sorting pictures breaks workflow

2022-08-20 Thread Christian
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458105

Bug ID: 458105
Summary: UX for sorting pictures breaks workflow
   Product: gwenview
   Version: 22.08.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@fuchsnet.ch
  Target Milestone: ---

As per the discussion in the visual design group:

I tried to sort through and crop some photos that I took yesterday, and I think
the UX for this usecase is pretty bad.

If you go through pictures in a folder (e.g. ~/photos/2022-08-20/) Every time
you change (e.g. crop) and image and save it, gwenview jumps to that saved
image. So if you save it in a different folder (e.g. ~/photos/sorted) you then
end up in this folder instead, and you can no longer go through the list of
photos you want. There is a message appearing at the top once saved that allows
you to jump back to the original, but that message appears with a delay (once
saved), so even if you do see that and click that button (which requires
switching from keyboard to mouse) you get taken back to that picture, and not
whatever picture you were looking at since you continued flicking after hitting
save.

Suggestion: add an option to invert that behaviour, as in: do _not_ jump to the
newly saved image, but rather stay at the original and offer a button to
optionally do the inverse.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Sort and crop through a large folder of images
2. Edit some of them
3. Save the edited ones in a different folder

OBSERVED RESULT
Gwenview jumps to the other folder, breaking your current workflow and position
of going through the current folder

EXPECTED RESULT
Gwenview is able to not interrupt your workflow, but rather only jump to the
saved image folder by request

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
All of them

[plasmashell] [Bug 458039] Unusual and continuous CPU(And probably also GPU) usage by Plasmashell and Kwin processes

2022-08-20 Thread Behzad A
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458039

After disabling and re-enabling different things to try to find the problem
reason, It seems that this problem is related to the Panel, because when
setting the Panel-Visibility option to Auto_Hide, and the Panel is in hidden
mode, CPU usage back to normal, and when the Panel is visible, the problem is
starting again; Also when the Panel-Visibilty option seted to Always-Visible
and the applicattion(Konsole) window be FullScreen, It has no effect on the
problem.

Also, this problem is probably(I'm not entirely sure) related to the changes
between August 9 and 15 because after updated Plasma on August 10(openSUSE
Krypton repo 22-08-09) I did not notice to this problem but after updated
Plasma on August 14(openSUSE Krypton repo 22-08-14) I noticed to the problem.
